Hiiiiii ๐Ÿ˜€ How are you? Hope youโ€™re having a lovely morning, despite the chocolate and vino hangovers than many of ya might have ๐Ÿ˜‰

I started off my morning with a bowl of breakfast quinoa:

-almond milk

-blueberries

-cinnamon, raw cacao powder, instant decaf espresso

-raw honey

Lurve.

A recent dinner:

Sautรฉed onions, zucchini, mushrooms, tomatoes, garlic, basil and oregano

Quinoa pita/tortilla with marinara and goat cheese

Put it all together:

pizza

Ka-pow!
SO good ๐Ÿ™‚

So, as you guys know, Winter Shape Up 2011 has come to an end.

sweat2

I LOVED reading your success stories and workout re-caps. Mayjah props to everyone who participated and I hope youโ€™re feeling a difference from all of your hard work! Quite a few of you mentioned that you had other spring fitness goals you were working on, too- hope youโ€™ve been ninaja-kicking your goals, too. Youโ€™re all amazing <3

Here are two success stories that I received via email:

From Alicia

I’ve been following the WSU for the past 4 weeks. I still have my last workout scheduled for tomorrow, but I wanted to get my results in to you! My weight has been pretty steady throughout. But, I did see some loss in my measurements!

Waist: -.5" !!!!!!!

Chest: no change

Hips: -1.75

Thigh: -.75"

Arm: -.3"

Even more exciting I have seen my stamina building. I can tackle a full minute of burpees (minus the jump at the top) without giving up! Mountain climbers are still a struggle, but I’m gonna rock them in the next cycle of WSU! Thank you so much for giving me a guide to follow, love the links, I did have to look up a lot of the moves and then create stick figure drawing so I could remember! It was awesome to hear the other girls attacking it as well. I can’t wait to see my end results. I’m so ready for summer already!!!!!!

and from Carolyn <— real-life friend ๐Ÿ™‚

Winter Shape Up was an awesome change to my fitness routine. I enjoyed trying a few new recipes and loved the design of the workouts because they kept me engaged and focused during each one. I supplemented my three weekly workouts with at least one hike and dance trance class. No measurements or weight loss to report-numbers make me compulsive but I can tell I have toned up. My face appears slimmer and the pants that were tight four weeks ago are now fitting great and even starting to get baggy in some areas! I plan to start Ginaโ€™s 12 Week Summer Shape Up (from 2009) next week and I am excited to see the physical changes and strength gains that will bring. Thanks for the great program design G!!

Selfy

Donโ€™t forget, you can repeat the program if you would like to make it last a little longer ๐Ÿ™‚ (4 more weeks is the perfect amount of time until the sun starts to peak itโ€™s sunny face out)

Iโ€™m off to teach, walk Bell, meet a friend for tea + acupuncture, then to Zuuuuuuumba!

See ya later today! Iโ€™m hoping to make a Gina-fied version of *this recipe* tonight ๐Ÿ˜€

xoxo

Gina

*Still no word yet on where weโ€™ll be stationedโ€ฆ hopefully soon! *fingers crossed*

This is something I definitely agree with!!! Great list Gina, I loved it!

I am excited to see how you redo that recipe — I saw it on Bodyrock and was interested, but cottage cheese is a no go for me.

Yum – can’t wait to see the Gina version of the banana cake. And I made a similar “pizza” using socca. Is the quinoa pita/tortilla similar in texture to the socca? Just curious ๐Ÿ™‚

Random but….for the “something to think about list” when I saw “most effective sleeping pill” I thought of the south park shake-weight episode? have you seen it? hulu that shizz pronto! hysterical

Also, I was wondering if you think it’d work to mix quoina/nooch/H2Oooooooooooh together to make those pita/tortilla things? I was thinking you could mix those things with a little garlic, cumin, etc. and you could make nacho cheese doritos basically?

  23. Laura on February 15, 2011 at 12:34 pm

You are so positive and uplifting, I think your posts are better then coffee in the morning!

  35. Cat on February 15, 2011 at 1:55 pm

Absolutely love the list!!! “The most effective sleeping pill โ€“ Peace of mind” – so true!

This might be a silly question, but I can’t seem to find Quinoa flour, but I do have regular quinoa. Do you think I could make my own quinoa flour simply by putting it in the food processor/vita-mix until it’s floury in texture? I’ve done it before with almonds –> almonf flour, so I was just curious.

  36. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on February 15, 2011 at 1:57 pm

That is such a great list. Congrats to your 2 success stories – they’ve made such great progress! Have a fabulous afternoon Gina!

i love the list. everything in it is so poignant.

  38. Ash on February 15, 2011 at 2:35 pm

Is quinoa flour different from quinoa flakes? Or did you use the flakes to make the tortilla?

  39. ? Reka on February 15, 2011 at 2:36 pm

Just a quicky note: Dance Trance looks like SOOOO much fun! I wish you lived closer. It’s hard to find good dance instructors in this area. I’ll just pray that the Pilot’s next stop would be Ohio. Yepp. My fingers are crossed Gina. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Have a wonderful day.
