WSU Warriors
Hiiiiii ๐ How are you? Hope youโre having a lovely morning, despite the chocolate and vino hangovers than many of ya might have ๐
I started off my morning with a bowl of breakfast quinoa:
With:
-protein
-almond milk
-blueberries
-cinnamon, raw cacao powder, instant decaf espresso
-raw honey
Lurve.
A recent dinner:
Sautรฉed onions, zucchini, mushrooms, tomatoes, garlic, basil and oregano
Quinoa pita/tortilla with marinara and goat cheese
Put it all together:
Ka-pow!
SO good ๐
So, as you guys know, Winter Shape Up 2011 has come to an end.
I LOVED reading your success stories and workout re-caps. Mayjah props to everyone who participated and I hope youโre feeling a difference from all of your hard work! Quite a few of you mentioned that you had other spring fitness goals you were working on, too- hope youโve been ninaja-kicking your goals, too. Youโre all amazing <3
Here are two success stories that I received via email:
From Alicia
I’ve been following the WSU for the past 4 weeks. I still have my last workout scheduled for tomorrow, but I wanted to get my results in to you! My weight has been pretty steady throughout. But, I did see some loss in my measurements!
Waist: -.5" !!!!!!!
Chest: no change
Hips: -1.75
Thigh: -.75"
Arm: -.3"
Even more exciting I have seen my stamina building. I can tackle a full minute of burpees (minus the jump at the top) without giving up! Mountain climbers are still a struggle, but I’m gonna rock them in the next cycle of WSU! Thank you so much for giving me a guide to follow, love the links, I did have to look up a lot of the moves and then create stick figure drawing so I could remember! It was awesome to hear the other girls attacking it as well. I can’t wait to see my end results. I’m so ready for summer already!!!!!!
and from Carolyn <— real-life friend ๐
Winter Shape Up was an awesome change to my fitness routine. I enjoyed trying a few new recipes and loved the design of the workouts because they kept me engaged and focused during each one. I supplemented my three weekly workouts with at least one hike and dance trance class. No measurements or weight loss to report-numbers make me compulsive but I can tell I have toned up. My face appears slimmer and the pants that were tight four weeks ago are now fitting great and even starting to get baggy in some areas! I plan to start Ginaโs 12 Week Summer Shape Up (from 2009) next week and I am excited to see the physical changes and strength gains that will bring. Thanks for the great program design G!!
Donโt forget, you can repeat the program if you would like to make it last a little longer ๐ (4 more weeks is the perfect amount of time until the sun starts to peak itโs sunny face out)
Iโm off to teach, walk Bell, meet a friend for tea + acupuncture, then to Zuuuuuuumba!
See ya later today! Iโm hoping to make a Gina-fied version of *this recipe* tonight ๐
xoxo
Gina
*Still no word yet on where weโll be stationedโฆ hopefully soon! *fingers crossed*

This is something I definitely agree with!!! Great list Gina, I loved it!
I am excited to see how you redo that recipe — I saw it on Bodyrock and was interested, but cottage cheese is a no go for me.
The photo on that recipe link cracks me up… are you gonna get dressed up like that to make the cake? ๐ haha.
hahaha of course. nothing says “banana cake” like a button-up shirt and the girls hanging out ๐
โขThe most powerful force in life โ Love
…LOVE this. ๐
I hope you learn you’re stationed where you would most like Gina. ๐ Delicious looking food as always, and I absolutely love that list. Makes you think. ๐
Yum – can’t wait to see the Gina version of the banana cake. And I made a similar “pizza” using socca. Is the quinoa pita/tortilla similar in texture to the socca? Just curious ๐
Loved hearing a real-life success story! How fun to see those results!
Way to inspire people to reach their goals!! Good stuff;)
i really need to make your quinoa tortilla! thats looks so good with the veg. love the success stories. enjoy your acu treatment ๐
I LOVE this list! I need to keep repeating #1 to myself ๐
I love the List at the end! Very cool! # 4 is a fave of mine : )
So great to hear success stories! I know that is so rewarding for you Gina! Thanks for sharing those 2 and thanks to the ladies for letting you share their stories !

that quinoa pita looks freakin amazing, or amazeballs! lol
success stories are so refreshing to hear! i love when others achieve their goals.
How do you make breakfast quinoa? Have you mentioned it before or is it just all raw? It looks interesting. I would love to give it a try. I love the list, I think the last one is my favorite!
you need an option on your comments part, where we can receive an email if you reply to our comment. I’ve almost missed comments because it doesn’t notify me. ๐ thanks!
I really do love hearing people’s results!
I completed on Sunday and feel way stronger than I did 4 weeks ago. WSU was a fun time. Thanks again.
I got my Master’s at Wayne State University (WSU) and our mascot was the Warriors hahaha
I would love to know how you made the breakfast quinoa tortilla! It looks so good, esp with all those yummy toppings!
the post is linked ๐
Hope you hear soon!!!! Keeping fingers (and toes) crossed!
Your breakfast quinoa always looks so comforting!
Great list!!!!
Fingers crossed on where you’ll be next!
That dinner looks delicious!
Random but….for the “something to think about list” when I saw “most effective sleeping pill” I thought of the south park shake-weight episode? have you seen it? hulu that shizz pronto! hysterical
Also, I was wondering if you think it’d work to mix quoina/nooch/H2Oooooooooooh together to make those pita/tortilla things? I was thinking you could mix those things with a little garlic, cumin, etc. and you could make nacho cheese doritos basically?
You are so positive and uplifting, I think your posts are better then coffee in the morning!
wow, thanks girl ๐
I LOVE THAT LIST! Thanks for always being an inspiration!
Yay! I love reading about positive changes in others!
And what kind of goat cheese is that…? Does it come in individual slices like that?
yes it’s sliced goat cheese from trader joes!
Congradualations ladies!
And that quinoa wrap looks awesome, i know what my dinner is tonight!
Sorry if you’ve already posted this, but I’m trying to shake things up with my breakfast. How do you make your breakfast quinoa and what are the measurements? Looks delish!
That list is amazing!! And congrats to the two progress stories. Your programs really are so great. ๐
Love this, the results awesome, the everyone needs list – powerful – thanks Gina – your a postive force to help me become the best me’s!
I am crossing my fingers for a good spot to be stationed. Keep your head up and your positive spirit Gina, its truly contagious! I look forward to reading your blog not only for the positivity, but the sense of real life balance.
I’m on the chickpea flour socca pizza kick- so easy and you can do whatever you want with it!
i loved the socca but it was a little too beany for me
i really love that list. In fact, it just might be posted on my refridgerator soon!
I love that list too – it is a good reminder, and we can never be reminded of those things too much!
As a side note, your detox sounds tough – I could barely make mine two-weeks! Great job! Do you feel like it has made a difference?
“The worst worthless emotion- self pity” Very true! I love this list!
Absolutely love the list!!! “The most effective sleeping pill โ Peace of mind” – so true!
This might be a silly question, but I can’t seem to find Quinoa flour, but I do have regular quinoa. Do you think I could make my own quinoa flour simply by putting it in the food processor/vita-mix until it’s floury in texture? I’ve done it before with almonds –> almonf flour, so I was just curious.
That is such a great list. Congrats to your 2 success stories – they’ve made such great progress! Have a fabulous afternoon Gina!
i love the list. everything in it is so poignant.
Is quinoa flour different from quinoa flakes? Or did you use the flakes to make the tortilla?
Just a quicky note: Dance Trance looks like SOOOO much fun! I wish you lived closer. It’s hard to find good dance instructors in this area. I’ll just pray that the Pilot’s next stop would be Ohio. Yepp. My fingers are crossed Gina. ๐
Have a wonderful day.
Oh, and the list is great. Thanks for sharing.
Reka
It cracks me up when I see WSU Warriors become I went to college at Winona State University (WSU) and our Mascot was the Warriors! haha.
Girl, your breakfast quinoa looks delicious! How do you make it? From scratchskys every morning or do you put cooked quinoa in your bowl and plop on toppings?
Wonderful list…and yes, so important to remember those things and thing about them.
Can’t wait for your healthified version of the cake…I have banana nut muffins I make. I love the flavor of banana bread anything, so I am all ears!
Where you’ll be stationed? I know you must be on the edge of your seat…hopefully word will come. Soon. ๐
So for the first time in my life, I tried Goat Cheddar. Holy foodgasms that stuff is amazing!!! I didn’t think goat cheese could get any better…I was so wrong.
it’s life-changing, fo sho
Love the list- thanks for sharing!!
I always forget about making breakfast quinoa. This may have to happen tomorrow!
Is cacao powder still a good chocolate flavor? I’ve been meaning to check that out…
