Meg: Love yourself

Whew. I fell victim to a nasty virus at end of January and I am JUST now feeling normal again. Since Iโ€™m training for my first half-marathon, I pushed myself harder than I should have even during my illness (hence why it took me so long to get well!).

Since I have done an C+ job of taking care of myself lately, I wanted to spread a very important message that I now appreciate more than ever:ย love yourself.ย ย Below are some rules to remember for Februaryโ€”the month of love.

Photo 1 1

Setting aside time to relax is OH SO important. Kick your feet up & relax. Just do it. If you are sick, sleep in and drink fluids (donโ€™t run in the cold every dayโ€ฆwomp).

Most of us donโ€™t express our love nearly as much as we should.ย ย Tell your mom, sister, cousin, coworker, boyfriend, girlfriend, or best friend how much they mean to you. If you have difficulty putting those feelings into words, send a sweet note via snail mail or deliver a card and some flowersย J

Number three is the rule I have the most difficulty following. What I eat directly affects the way I feel about myself. So do your very best to give your body what it needs. Even if that means enjoying an extra chocolate covered strawberry or two.

Not everyone has a significant other and I know the month of Valentineโ€™s can be depressing. Did you know flowers (of any variety) have been known to make you feel better? Itโ€™s science. Buy yourself a beautiful bouquet because, WHY NOT?!

Number five is so often overlooked and underrated. We are all busy, I know. Between working full time, training for a half marathon, and hyper speed wedding planning, I am no exception. I want you all to think of a way to pamper yourself this month. Skip the weekly lattes and buy a massage. Set aside an hour or two for a nice and moisturizing hair mask. Or just rent your favorite flick and just enjoy a self-given manicure. Whatever it takes for you to feel fresh and renewedโ€ฆdo that. Tip: lavender is a beautiful and relaxing scent, consider buying yourself a lavender lotion to keep in your purse or gym bag!

Below are some items that can help to remind yourself how much you love, well, you! So head out, and treat yourself to something nice because you deserve it <3

2. Breakfast at Tiffanyโ€™s (my personal fave).

3. Moroccan Oil Moisturizing hair mask.

5. A lovely bouquet of tulips arranged in a multi-functional Ikea vase.

ย

I hope you all make this month a lovely one. Stay positive and spread the love.

What are your favorite ways to spoil yourself?

Xo-Meg

Awesome post. The timing couldn’t be better. Isn’t the whole point of working out like mad and eating healthy to feel great and love yourself? So if its not meeting those ends change it… Especially if you’re sick! Love it, meg.

I love to sit with a good cup of coffee and some blog reading. It’s so simple, but I get so much enjoyment out of it ๐Ÿ˜€

Have you heard that Breakfast at Tiffany’s is being made into a Broadway play? It is debuting next month! My mom & I are taking a girls trip to NYC in June to see it.

Such awesome advice! We really do need to take time to love ourselves more. When we do, we are better at loving others ๐Ÿ™‚

I wish people celebrated love more instead of just near Valentine’s Day.

I love lavender! I like to put a little lavender essential oils on my wrists and neck before I crawl in bed after an especially long day.

This is beautiful- it’s definitely so important to love yourself! I always really like the saying “If you don’t love yourself, how do you expect anyone else to?”

My favourite way to pamper myself is to take long bubble baths with whatever book I’m reading. Bringing in a glass of wine makes it even more luxurious!

I make time to do P90X every single day. (Not easy for a Momma of 3.) This “me” time feels so guilty & so good at the same time. I have neglected my body, caring for my very sweet girls, for long enough. I am on week 3! I will finish this thing. I’m setting a good example for my girls to love themselves, and take time to be healthy, no matter what.

LOVE your kids by example: LOVE yourself Moms ๐Ÿ™‚

thanks, i so needed this. i’m stuck in lab, but i’ve still made myself a cup of tea to get some ‘pampering’ in while i (attempt, poorly, to) write my thesis ๐Ÿ™‚
