Mardi Party

Hiiiiii friends! How are you? Hope you’re having a great morning.

After our day of workshops and dancing, we had a Mardi Gras party at a Jax club.

You get the idea Winking smile

Needless to say, this morning we were all moving a little slowly.

Green juice to the rescue:

juice

(green apple, spinach, parsley, lemon)

+ gluten-free oats with Sun Warrior (both brought from home, just asked WF if they’d mind filling a soup bowl with hot water for me) and a crumbled amazeball

oats

We got to the studio, and before today’s dance party and workshop, we were treated to a performance from the DT kids.

dt kids

They were AMAZING. So cute and could do the crazy floating feet thing way better than I’ll ever be able to  Winking smile

We had another 2 hour dance party and learned some new choreography to songs that just came out- I’m a scary stoked to take them to my classes this week!

Instead of trying to get a quick lunch during our break, we planned ahead and grabbed hot bar this morning:

hot bar

Salad, hummus, chicken, cranberry quinoa, mushrooms and balsamic.

We’re heading back for meetings and then later tonight, it’s chill time with the lovely Lindsey Open-mouthed smile

See you later, friends!

xoxo

Gina

Something to think:

We should consider every day lost on which we have not danced at least once. And we should call every truth false which was not accompanied by at least one laugh.

I wish I lived closer to you (instead of in Georgia! :P) – I would love to come to your classes and hire you to be my trainer. You’re so motivating and inspiring!!!

aww thanks girl! which part of georgia are you in?

      • China on February 28, 2011 at 12:38 pm

Just outside of Atlanta. If I’d found your blog sooner (discovered it right before Christmas), I totally would have made a trip to Valdizzy just to meet you! Not trying to sound like a creepy stalker or anything – you just seem very fun and motivating. 🙂

        • Fitnessista on February 28, 2011 at 12:57 pm

well we visit atlanta often so maybe we can meet up one of these days!

  7. Carolyn on February 27, 2011 at 1:23 pm

Ha, you are scary stocked and I am just scared! I swear the hot bar never looks so tasty to me as it does on the internet. Maybe we’ll have to go together sometime.

What a fun night! Look at you planning ahead and getting WF hot bar – how fitting! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on February 28, 2011 at 9:34 am

i paid the price the day before… we waited at the one ocean restaurant for 40 minutes (and had to be back in 40) and ended up eating the chicken breast and veggies with my hands while running back to the studio! it was a disaster

  9. Ashley on February 27, 2011 at 1:36 pm

nothing like a green juice to the rescue after a late night! : )

  10. Ne on February 27, 2011 at 1:41 pm

The dancing sounds fun! and the studio looks awesome!!

Who’s ‘we’? You refer to them throughout the post, I may be a little confused.

    • Fitnessista on February 28, 2011 at 9:33 am

sorry for being confusing! my dt friends and i

    Hey Gina –

As a long-time vegetarian/pescatarian transitioning to perhaps including more (high quality) meat in my diet, I’m wondering if in a future post you could talk a little about about what changes (if any?) you’ve noticed since you decided to start eating chicken, or if you think about eating other animal protein? I’ve slowly been cutting back on my carbs (even the whole grain ones) and trying to eat mainly vegetables and protein (with treats of course!) and it’s making a pretty significant difference in terms of my ability to maintain my happy size.

Basically I’d just love to hear your thoughts/reflections on that decision of yours 🙂

    • Fitnessista on February 28, 2011 at 9:33 am

i don’t think i’m going to post an update and open that can of worms again, but i will tell ya:
-i feel amazing, like this is how i’m supposed to be eating. 100% sure that my decision was the right one (for me)
-i have no desire whatsoever to add in any more animal protein. chicken, fish, eggs and goat dairy are doing the trick nicely 🙂 my energy is fantastic and i have abs again, haha

  14. Aylin @ GlowKitchen on February 27, 2011 at 2:12 pm

Ahhhhhh ever since I moved to Turkey, I think the only thing I’ve missed is a Whole Foods bar! Not one grocery store here has any conception of health. Organic? Never. Fruit juice without sugar? Absolutely not. Nut butters w/o sugar? Unheard of. A juice bar? The nation is laughing at me.

    But the produce is glorious!

    • Fitnessista on February 28, 2011 at 9:31 am

at least you can make your own of all of those things (nut butters, juice)- i can’t even imagine what the produce markets are like. eat a fig for me, mmm k?

  20. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on February 27, 2011 at 3:02 pm

Oh the DT pics look great! Kids and being able to do the floaty feet things (or just about anything) super well…yeah, when I look at kids doing yoga and see their flexibility, I am like how I WISH i had been exposed to yoga when I was a kid. At least I am exposing Skylar 🙂

The Mardi party pic. I am sure you had an awesome time! Hopefully there were some unmentioned shenanigans.

Have fun with Lindsay and enjoy the rest of the DT meetings and classes!

Congrats on the (as you call it) “biznazz” and for you and the pilot getting to live in Tuscon!!! I saw this recipe and thought you would like to make it with organic honey or even agave. If you try it out, please post and let me know how it was and the changes you made to it!

That’s an intense green juice mixture! It sounds like it would be so sour! I always need to have banana in my green juices to sweeten them up. 😛

I have issues with kids dancing or singing. Invariably, it makes me want to cry. Even when it’s a funny dance, I start tearing up. I’m just such a mushball when I’m watching kids!

    • Fitnessista on February 28, 2011 at 9:26 am

      hahah awwww!

  35. elizabeth on February 27, 2011 at 11:23 pm

Hey G! I have a reader request for you… could you give some tips for people who are attending an even like this (or for people going to events like a Zumba training or convention)? I don’t really know how to eat for these all-day stop/start physical activity. It’s not like a race where you go, run, and get on with your day.

Your Gina expertise would be very welcome!!

Hope you had a great day!

    • Fitnessista on February 28, 2011 at 9:25 am

that’s a great idea for a post- i think quite a few fellow instructors read the bloggy and we could all talk about it 🙂
it’s definitely a little tricky to fuel- you want to make sure you have enough, but working out with a food baby isn’t very fun 😉

  36. Mac on February 28, 2011 at 12:41 am

Wahoo Mardi Gras! Coming up soon 🙂
