Meg: I’m Obsessed- Beauty Boxes
Every time I see that Gina received another Stitch-Fix box, I canโt WAIT to see what they picked for her! Iโve been pretty obsessed with the idea of Stitch-Fix and will, without a doubt, be purchasing a subscription soon!
I know everyone will be busy soon opening gifts and playing with new presents, but after all is said and done, I have a gift you can give yourself for the New Year. Take that extra holiday cash and put it toward something similar to Stitch-Fixโbeauty boxes!
Last Christmas my sister gifted me a three-month subscription to BirchBox. At the time I had no idea what that even meant. I was delighted Christmas morning to open up a box full of beauty sample goodies! This is how beauty boxes work: you order either a month, several months, or a year subscription, and you receive 1 box a month full of samples based on your personality/beauty preferences. A quiz is typically given online to determine your personal style/hair and skin color.
In my first box I received some amazing liquid eyeliner (which I still have and use), a sample of Kate Spadeโs Twirl perfume, a sample concealer, some metallic nail polish, and several other goodies.ย ย You also get a card telling you the benefits of each product and how they should be used.
Birchbox opened my eyes to new products and brands I may have never thought to try. That Kate Spade scent is now my Spring/Summer go-to! You can do some shopping via the Birchbox website and find amazing deals on the products youโve tried and now love. Added bonus is many of the products ship free!
Some of my other favorite beauty box brands:
Sample Society with Allure found at beautybar.comโthese boxes come with designer beauty products that you will definitely love! (photo borrowed from beautybar.com)
Ipsy found at ipsy.comโyou get a make up bag and top-notch samples from brands like Philosophy and Urban Decay. (photo borrowed from Ipsy.com)
I encourage you to explore some of the options out there and get yourself a gift that literally keeps on giving. What better way to start the New Year than to โTreat Yoโ Selfโ?
I know my fellow Parks and Rec fans will appreciate that one ๐
Xo-Meg
Thanks for this! I just signed up for Ipsy. I have been a Birchbox subscriber for well over a year now and I love it! Thanks for giving me another addiction ๐
Stitch-fix is new to me and I really want to try it out! I’ve heard of Ipsy, but the feedback has been largely negative – just a warning!
I subscribed to Ipsy, when it was still my-glam, for a few months and was really disappointed in them. I’ve heard it’s gotten a lot better now, but I’m eyeing Birchbox!
I have been a Birchbox subscriber for over a year now, too. I like them, but I find that I don’t end up using all the samples and I have a lot of extra products lying around the house now. I also subscribe to Stitchfix. I am a little too into Online Ecommerce Subscriptions ๐
I used to subscribe to Birchbox but once the holiday’s started to creep I had to cut a bunch of expenses. I am tempted to treat myself again for the new year!
I’ve been super disappointed in Birchbox for the past few months. Enough to cancel my subscription. While not totally beauty-related, Conscious Box has been my favorite and well worth the subscription price.
I am a subscriber to BirchBox for a few months now, and I love it! I don’t use all the stuff but it’s nice to have extra samples for in my guest bathroom or to take when I’m traveling.
I also got one for my best friend for Christmas.
I don’t really care for beauty products, but I do love Parks and Rec!!!!
I swear nobody gets my references to that show expect my boyfriend….
finally someone who understands!
Ive never seen this before, Ill have to check it out!
This is awesome! I didn’t know about birchbox.
The thing I like best about birchbox is the fact that you get points for reviews, which quickly add up to money to get free full-size products. I usually use the sample sizes (which are pretty big) until they run out, which often takes a few weeks. Occasionally, I’ll get something I love and then use my points to buy the full size of that product. I am not one to spend a lot of money on beauty type products without having tried them, so it works out really well.
I’ve been doing ecoemi for about 8 months, I love it and the stuff I don’t like I give to my mom. We both have an aloe allergy so ill probley end up making a sample basket for my BFF. I love that ecoemi is all natural stuff and it has food items, beauty, skin care and household items. It’s only $15 a month and its like a gift every month because they only tell you one of the items your getting and it’s a different theme every month!
Wow just noticed my comment posted under someone else info!
that’s been happening lately! so weird… i’m still waiting to hear from my host what the deal is.
I just subscribed to stitch fix because of you…im super excited, but how long did it take for you to start getting stuff?
i hope you love it! it was about a month, but i thought it would take much longer. hopefully it will be the same for you ๐ xoxo
Yeah, it says I am on the waiting list still, so I will wait patiently (sorta lol)
This is an awesome gift idea- I’ll keep it in mind for birthdays and Christmas next year ๐
I just signed up for ipsy! Sadly a lot of the sample boxes dont ship to Canada but ipsy does! I should get my box in a few weeks! Soooooo excited!!
I’m a beauty box junkie! I’m currently subscribed to Birchbox, ipsy and Glossybox and honestly, lately, Birchbox has been rather disappointing compared to the other two. Glossybox is twice the price ($21 w shipping) but they have the best stuff and usually give you full-size samples so you can really try out a product.
That said, I’ve gotten amazing things through Birchbox before and their sample of Dr. Jart’s BB got me totally hooked!
