Meg: DIY Bleach Pen
I wanted to thank everyone for their input in the comment section of the Self-Tanner post! Iโm looking forward to trying out some of the recommendations ๐
In other news, my best friend and I tested out an extremely easy DIY the other day! The cost of this fun little project was under $4 and I was pretty happy with the result.
What youโll need:
Bleach Pen – Old T-shirt โ Cardboard/Folder so the bleach doesnโt bleed through.
Choose an old, plain t-shirt and insert the cardboard underneath where youโll be writing/drawing. I wanted to do a pocket print on one tee and an anchor on the other. Donโt forget to shake the pen before you start drawing.
One thing I learned from the pocket print is that the bleach lines will be thicker than the actual lines you draw. I ended up with a pretty jumbled bleach spot on the pocket teeโฆoops!
The beauty of this DIY is that you are recycling old tees anyway, so if you mess up you just end up with a new workout top!
My second design was the anchor, which I free handed from a picture I found online.
After you draw the design,ย let it dry fully.ย After the bleach was completely dry, I washed mine by itself in cold water and hung to dry.
The final result:
Not too bad! It certainly didnโt take me very long and it was a fun activity to do with my bestie. I will be designing an adorable tiny tee shirt for a certain precious little niece of mineย J
You can draw on yoga bags, hats, onesies, the possibilities are pretty endless. If you have a chance to give this DIY a try, let me know! Iโd love to see how they turn out.
Happy Crafting!

Super cool!! Love every one of your creative ideas, Meg ๐
This is super cute and creative! I wish I could say that I am crafty but I just am awful at it. I love to look and browse pinterest all day long though!
In third grade one day it was my job to wipe down the tables. I accidentally cleaned them with bleach. It got on my shirt sleeve and I was really upset about it. My mom took bleach and that night we used an eye dropper to make out own designs in it. It came out awesome. I wish I still had it ten years later! I got so many compliments on it! Awesome idea!
My teenage son uses a diluted bleach solution (about 75% strength–3 parts bleach to one part water) and stencils to make designs on his hoodies. They’re pretty cool.
Pro-tip for people like me who suck at drawing: Buy painter’s tape and use it to outline shapes and patterns!
The first time I used bleach was in middle school to attempt to get out a stain. Meanwhile, I got it on my skirt and promptly called my mom to ask “how do you get out bleach?” Oops.
LOVE!!!! I love the anchor t-shirt!!!!!
