Meg: Winter Skin Care
ย There are a lot of things you can do to prevent drab, dry, winter skin. Never forget to exfoliate and cleanse! For that my go-to is still the Clarisonic Pro. Itโs no secret that this is the best skincare product Iโve ever used. Get rid of make up, dead skin, and dirt in a 1-2 minute cleanse? Yes please!ย
ย
Thereโs a lot that goes into keeping skin healthy during the winter. My process is pretty simple โ Prep and Hydrate!
ย
The best thing you can give your skin is adequate SLEEP (the cute Wildfox eye mask helps you look good doing it). To prep my skin for each winter week, I apply Lushโs Mask of Magnaminty, which is a great exfoliant and an effective spot treatment. Personally, I tend to have extremely chapped lips, and to rectify that problem I prefer Lushโs Mint Julips lip scub. If you arenโt a fan of mint, they also carry a yummy Bubblegum flavor.
Once everything is prepped, I try to make my best attempts at hydration! Before applying any make-up and before you go to bed, be sure you moisturize. Cetaphil has always been a favorite, but Targetโs Up and Up brand works just as well for my combination skin. At the end of each day, itโs extremely important to remove all residual make up!
Possibly the most important part of the beautiful winter skin equation is good olโ h20. The H2OMG Bottle from ModCloth is pretty adorable but any water bottle works ๐ I shoot for 64 oz. (or more) per day.ย
Of course if you want beautiful skin, youโll need to be consistent with your skincare routine. Take care of your skin and it will look lovely all year round ย ๐ย

Any products you canโt live without that I must know about??

Thayer’s Rose Petal Witch Hazel is amazing.
Any Arbonne products. They are vegan certified & do not contain any parabens, phthalates, and mineral oil! They are amazing.
Ohhh how I love Clarisonics! And Lush too! ๐
Cetaphil’s heavy moisturizer (forget the exact name) is THE best. I have incredibly dry skin and a nightly application does the trick during the winter. Plus the tub lasts forever.
I love using the clarisonic as well! Now my face just does not feel clean if I don’t use it each night. Also, I love John Master’s Argan oil at night time to balance out the oils in my skin ๐
I love spot treatments! I use Clean & Clear’s Advantage Spot treatment anywhere I feel a pimple coming in.
I love my Clarisonic as well, I love Pai’s all natural skincare line its so gentle and hydrating perfect for winter. I also love “my favorite nightbalm” from CO Bigelow for lips and Egyptian Magic for anywhere that gets so dry that regular moisturizers don’t last.
Lancome’s Visonnaire is literally a dream in the bottle. Very expensive but so worth it and it lasts a long time!
I recently started oil cleansing, which sounds crazy but has seriously done wonders for my skin. I use a mixture of caster oil, olive oil, and grapeseed oil, put it on dry skin and use a hot wash cloth to steam/wipe off. It has cleared up the stress acne that has popped up over the holidays and has kept my skin moisturized…which is saying a lot for Wisconsin winters!
I finally woke up and decided I need to actually take care of my skin. I have a moisturizer (body shop seaweed something) but I need to exfoliate and all that noise.
You’ve got to try Whole Foods 365 brand moisturizer. It’s only $5 or $6 and it’s like cetaphil, but without any yucky ingredients. It works great for me for face and body and you can’t beat it at that price!
During the winter, I always get such dry knuckles and have found the best thing is petroleum jelly. I know some people don’t like petroleum jelly for a variety of reasons, but I’ve tried coconut oil and other alternatives and haven’t found anything that works quite as well. So until then, I’ll stick with it. I do keep a little tube of Trader Joe’s Shea butter hand lotion in my car, though, for knuckle touch ups. ๐
I used cetaphil for many years ๐ What’s wrong with it?
I love Origins’ Modern Friction exfoliator — gentle enough to use with the Clarisonic, and makes you feel so smooth! I’m actually in love with all of Origin’s skin products, I started using them this summer and my skin has never looked so good!
meg–so so right about water and the importance of exfoliation! i actually had to quit the clarisonic a couple years ago though—it became TOO much even at 1x a day with the sensitive brush. oh well, it pushed me to try new products and even make a lot of my own natural skincare stuff!i posted my whole routine here: http://thedelicateplace.com/2013/11/06/beauty-skincare-routine-tips/
I absolutely love German Nivea. It has the same first 8 ingredients as La Mer and it’s super moisturizing and inexpensive. It has to be the German version though.
awesome tip! where can you buy it?
