Week of workouts
Hi friends! Happy Sunday, and happy Mother’s Day to all of my mama friends out there. I already got most of my gift yesterday (ALLTHESLEEP), and have been enjoying the day with the people who made me a mom.
I’m popping in quickly to share a week of workouts, since I can actually remember what I did last week. Usually I get to Sunday, and I’m like, “What even happened this week?” Maybe it’s the sex dust. It’s helping my memory lol.
Here’s what the week looked like:
Sunday: Power yoga
Monday: Teach HIIT + teach barre
Tuesday: 20 minutes hills, 15 minutes upper body circuit
Wednesday: Legs + intervals, teach yoga
Thursday: Power yoga
Friday: OFF
Saturday: 30 minutes spin, 15 minutes legs
What I liked about this week:
-Lots of yoga!! It felt so great to take classes in addition to teaching. When I take classes, I get a better idea of how to structure my flows and tips for solid form cues, so while I’m teaching yoga, I’ll also be trying to take at least one class a week.
-Good strength training split. Even though I didn’t have a ton of time lifting weights, I still hit every muscle group and legs twice. I’m really working on building muscle in my legs, so if I get a chance on non-consecutive days, I bust out some heavy walking lunges, step-ups, hip raises, or Smith machine squats. Even if I have 15 minutes, instead of ditching out, I’m focusing on making it count
-The Peloton app! Usually when I spin, I put on a playlist and do my own solo spin class. Saturday, I was really looking for some inspiration on the cardio front, so I decided to check out the app. I’m doing the 14-day free trial right now, and can already tell I’m going to LOVE it for at-home cardio workouts. (I have this spin bike at home, which I love. I looked at the Peloton bike, which looks AMAZING, but it’s $$$$ and don’t really need it if you use the app.)
I was only going to do 20 minutes, but ended up doing 30 since I was having so much fun. The music is good, the instructor will call out your name if you join in a live class for extra motivation, and I thought the instruction was pretty solid. I’m excited to try another class.
What I could have done differently:
-Ideally I would have taken Thursday off and practiced yoga on Friday. The Friday class didn’t work with my schedule, so I knew Thursday was my chance. After working out legs and teaching the night before, my legs were really tired. Not sure I’ll do that combo again anytime soon haha.
So tell me friends: what did you do for fitness next week? Are you setting up your schedule for this week, or taking it day by day?
xoxo
Gina
I have the Peloton bike and I love it. Just celebrated my 100th ride today live and got a few call outs from the instructors. So glad you discovered the app! All of the instructors are great.
ahhh that is amazing!!! it’s such a great tool for cardio at home. so cool you have the bike 🙂
I’m confused. You can use a regular spin bike, then use the peloton ap on your phone or ?
Is it a monthly fee for the ap? Thanks for any information.
Tammy
Yes! You can do the workouts on your phone or tablet on any spin bike. I’m not sure how much it is since I’m just doing the free trial
Such a productive WEEK! happy mother’s day BTW 😉 oh I love spin classes!

Totally gonna check out this app.
I am doing mostly lunch break workouts this week.
it would be perfect for that!
Great job incorporating all that yoga! I was on vacation all of last week, so just got in 4 sessionsof HIIT sprints!
I’ve realized that ever since I started teaching yoga I’m having a trickier time fitting in my own yoga classes! Need to work on getting some balance back into my life. Your workouts compliment each other so nicely!
i feel like when i take classes it makes me a better teacher, but you’re right, it can be so hard to fit it in the schedule
Super productive week for you, I love reading for some inspiration 🙂 Would you mind listing out your upper body and lower body circuits? A lot of my weight training is done solo, too, so I’m always looking for new ideas! Thanks and happy Monday!
happy monday!! yes! i can definitely do that. i’m tracking everything so i can post it for next week <3
Agree that taking classes while teaching yoga is such a rich development tool. There are so many brilliant ways of teaching out there and I find it totally expands what I am able to give to my classes. But alas, as it was said, already its hard to work those classes in to the schedule! PS I saw you used Orange Sky on your last yoga playlist, how good is it!?
oh my goshhhhhhh i love it
Hi! I am curious about Orange Theory classes and how they would fit into your week or workouts? We have one near me, but I have never tried it. It looks so intimidating!
don’t be intimidated! you can totally scale it according to your needs and how you’re feeling. it’s so much fun.
i would usually do OTF on friday or saturday. i wouldn’t be teaching that day and would just make sure to have an off day or easy cardio day beforehand so my legs were fresh
I go to Peloton in New York city every week and use the app when I travel. I recommend Robin, and her tabata ride. Love peloton!
