I can taste the mall
Hi guys! So sorry I made some of yaโll cry with the video– at least they were happy tears and I warned you ๐ No words can describe how it feels when the person you love more than anything comes home. I canโt even imagine what it would be like to be young and have your parent deployedโmilitary kids are so admirably resilient <3
So howโs your Indian food Wednesday going?? Things have been bueno over here- the PACKING MOUNTAIN has begun ๐
That is only a small limb of the packing mountainโฆ and I still have to make room for macaroons and Garlic Gold goodies!
Eats today have been pretty glorious, including:
a 3-egg-white scramble (with eggs from the farm) with arugula, goat gouda, Garlic Gold, red chili flakes and hot sauce
and a giant bowl of cherries ๐
No TurboFire yet since Iโve been a packing and laundry MACHINE, but am going to cardio it up tonight before dinner. Itโs been too stinkinโ hot anyway ๐
Iโm off to prep dinner and workout before the pilot comes home, but Iโm sure many of you want to know where Iโll be living in a couple of months.
If you guessed Orlando, youโre totally right ๐
The original plan was to go to Tucson since most of my family is there, but the cost of taking the car out there and the dogs + plane tickets back and forth during the moving process (and when the guys come home) was going to be ridiculous. Iโm very lucky to have my aunt and cousins in Orlando who are going to let the puppers and me be squatters in their house. At least Iโm a macaroon-making cleaning machine squatter, right? ๐
Even though the situation is a huge bummer of *why* I have to move, Iโm kind of scary excited about living in Orlando. Iโll be back to V-town pretty often to visit my friends (and theyโll come visit me!) and in the meantime, Iโll be teaching Zumba, taking yoga, having a blasty with my aunt and cousins, applying at some of the vegan bakeries/restaurants and shopping. I can taste the mall already. And it tastes delicious ๐
Hopefully Meghann, Julie, Katy, Katy, Erin, Ryan and Ashley will adopt me, too ๐
Iโm not moving for a while, but weโll be starting to pack up the casa pretty soon! WHEW.
Have a great night!
Gina
Orlando sounds fun, even though I know you’ll be missing your Pilot! I grew up missing my dad a lot while he was deployed, so I kinda know how you feel! Sounds like you’re going to have lots of support and distractions while he’s gone, though, which I’m sure will help time fly by!!
Good luck with the moving prep! ๐
Wishing you well! I’ll be in Orlando (very briefly before leaving for a cruise) in November, maybe we can hit up Seasons 52? I’ve been wanting to go there for years, and we don’t have one in DC/VA!
Tell the pilot I wish him well too. ๐ Much love for the military men, women, and families! <3
yes, i’ve been wanting to meet you forever! just let me know when you’ll be in town ๐
thank you <3
Hey,
I saw that you made an egg-white omelett from whole eggs and wondered what you do with the yolks? Do you just throw them away?
yeah they go down the garbage disposal
I’m so sorry that the pilot has to leave, but that’s awesome that you will be with family and all of those amazing bloggies!! AND a Whole Foods! I hope that will make things a little easier for you.
This is exciting!! Even though the reason behind your move is not the best, at least you get to move by family. And I’m sure a better mall is also a selling point. lol
Hey girl, I love your blog! I’ve seen that video about the children and parents being reunited post-deployment circulated on FB…I’m so sorry about your husband being away due to work but I think it’s awesome that you are doing what makes you happy! As an Air Force wife, it’s incredibly important to do what makes you happy during those times of deployment / separation from your husband. AF wives (and husbands) to me are the unpaid active duty members! You sacrifice along with your husband. My thoughts & sympathy (as a fellow Air Force wife) are with you!
thank you<3
Fabulous! Sounds exciting ๐ even if the Pilot will be gone ๐
very very best of luck, Gina. I’m a huge fan of the blog and its positive flavour(which is pretty much the opposite of mine right now!!). my husband and i have had to start living and working apart recently, which has been kinda tough, but throwing yourself into everything is the only and best thing for it. at least at the moment i can cook what i like, spend ridiculous amounts of time gymming and blogging, and really appreciate the scraps of time i can get with the boy.
looking forward to your updates – i’m starting a new job and new life next month so you’ve definitely got my thoughts with you ๐
it was such a beautiful video, gina! and i’m sorry to hear that you’re moving for less than stellar reasons, but i’m so happy that you’re going to be close to your family!
That’s so great you are moving to Orlando for a while! FUn city. And even better that you have friends and family there!
Hi Gena maybe I missed it but- why is you are moving? Anyway, it sounds like you’re happy to go to Orlando and I think it sounds great too, getting to teach your beloved Zumba again and all ๐
x
i’m moving because the pilot will be gone for a while
That’s great that you are going to get to be with family! I bet it will make the time fly by.
after weeks of waiting…I missed this post. Hope your move goes well….have you posted WHY you are moving? i’m so nosy sorry!

Enjoy Orlando while you are there and with family.
So glad you will be in good company and make the best of things while the pilot’s away. Thank you for the sacrifices you both make. ๐
Yaayyy Orlando! That will be so fun. And it makes such a difference being near family. I miss my west coast parents and relatives like whoa!
thats great you will have so much fun! Will you be moving out of valdosta forever? I’m so excited to hear about your adventures in such a fun city! good luck Gina! ๐
Consider yourself ADOPTED!
thank you!! <3
Yay, how fun! That will be so nice to have your family & other bloggers there for you while the Pilot is away. ๐
The “why” behind your move definetly sucks, but at least you will be surrounded by a supportive family while the pilot is gone. All of us readers have your back also!
Orlando! I think that is pretty awesome. I wish you all the best there – and I know you will be happy/successful no matter where you go. You’re just that kind of person.
Hi gina, I have been reading your blog for awhile and I love it! That is so exciting about moving to Orlando but I’m sorry you will have to be away from your husband ๐ I am from Melbourne, FL which is an hour east of Orlando so I grew up going to Orlando alll the time. Best of luck and have a great time at the HLS!
Shannon
My heart goes out to you, I can’t imagine the emotional stress this move may put on you, were all thinking about you and as everyone has already stated, being around family will certainly help. xoxo
consider yourself adopted!!! ๐ i am hoping you can turn me into a yogamaster while you’re here. ๐
weird- i just saw katy said the EXACT same thing… apparently us orlandoians are creepily similar.
thank you! <3 yes, let's yoga it up!
Sorry I have been a bad commenter! That is fabulous that you will be living near family! And good shopping, eating, etc. Have fun on the trip <3!
Change is always good but there’s always the adjustment at the beginning. Good Luck on your move…will be following your blog!
Hi there! I’ve been lurking on your blog (which I love) for a while and have never commented. I’m sorry to hear about the deployment, but hopefully not being alone will help it go quicker. My husband (AF) got his “short tour” orders when we were a couple months pregnant. He missed pretty much the whole pregnancy, got to be home for a few weeks for the birth, and then was out again for the next six months. I moved with family for half of the time…don’t think I could have done it without support. Good luck in Orlando!
I’m so excited you’re moving to Orlando!
I started reading these blogs about 6 months ago (it all started when I found choosingraw) and now I follow Megan, Meghann, Caitlin, & Ashley’s blogs (and yours!). I moved here from California and didn’t know hardly anyone or anything entertaining to do, so the blogs really helped me to see that Orlando has a lot of great local culture to enjoy ๐ Maybe you and the other Orlando blogger girls could have a big meet & greet at one of the local restaurants? I’d love to meet you, the other bloggers, and the Orlando readers!
Thank you for posting and staying positive, your bright outlook and energy helps me (and tons of other readers) realize the fun & potential that every day has to offer ๐
PS I’ve heard of a raw restaurant & juice bar in Winter Park, Cafe 118 degrees.
I know you will be happy with some of your family. Valdizzians will miss you though!!
Plus we know what the Valdizzy mall tastes like!
Hi. It’s great to hear you’re moving to Orlando both for your own stimulation as well as the fact that you’ll have plenty of posts about things to do and places to eat. (I just moved here from Northern California and need all the suggestions I can get!)
I live in Orlando and I just stumbled across your blog today and am enjoying it thoroughly.. on which side of town are you going to be staying/teaching? I love my spin and BodyPump classes and have been wanting to try Zumba for a while now. My gym has them but always late in the evening… I’d like to see like a 5.30 class that I could hit up after work.. just curious. Thanks!
i’m not sure where i’ll be teaching, yet! so excited though ๐
