Senator Suave
Hey guys! How’s your day going?
Look who got a haircut!
Doesn’t he look so handsome? My cousins call him “Senator Suave”
A portable groomer came to the house yesterday and prettied Scamp up. He even has a glow-in-the-dark Halloween ascot!
It’s funny though because the tables have turned…
the entire time we’ve been here, Scamp has spent most of his days trying to lick Viesa on the mouth and every since he got his haircut, she’s vying for his attention but he’s playing it cool
This morning, while getting ready for Bikram, I decided I wasn’t really in the mood to be drill seargent-ed. So I went to the gym for magazine cardio instead (<— anyone know how to make those white boxes go away? Not a fan)
Snackage
2 hemp waffles with a spread of Sun Warrior, pumpkin and almond milk, topped with goji berries and cacao nibs
It was pretty face-rocking. As a texture person, cacao nibs give anything a glorious crunch
Next, I made some vegan chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. (Recipe in Eat, Drink and Be Vegan)
and packed up lunch:
Leftover sweet potato and black bean chili with Daiya, greens, Larabar and two pieces of kamut bread.
I’m currently eating the greens with the chili on top, cold because I didn’t have time to microwave it at work. Still amazing though
Fun stuff going down on the bloggy this week:
-How to Foam Roll (this will most likely be a video post!)
-Pilot Eats
-Discussion post
Hope you have a wonderful night!
xoxo,
Gina
Today’s workout jam: “Hello, Good Morning” Dirty Money
Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends!
Holler to Lauren, whom I met at work today! It was so lovely to chat with you for a little while <3
Yes, I’m excited for the upcoming post on how to foam roll! I really have no idea how and I know that it’s beneficial!
Same here!! 🙂
Me tooo!
Yay!! I’m excited for the upcoming post on how to foam roll! I really have no idea how and I know that it’s beneficial!
Oops, I don’t know how that happened I tried to change something and double-posted! Feel free to delete the first!
Beautiful puppers! Love it:) Can’t wait for the Pilot eats post!
I can’t wait for the foam rolling post! I have tried to do it before but it’s soooo painful! I’m not sure if I’m doing it wrong or I’m just that big off a wuss. I know that it’s not supposed to be super comfortable right off the bat.
Scamp looks adorable 🙂 I want to get the Eat, drink, be vegan book- is it worth buying? Jess x
I am foam rolling Right Now!! 🙂
Mmm, those cookies from ED&BV are TOTALLY face rocking ! 😀
cute puppers!
Ooh, glad to see a foam rolling post because I have yet to figure out how in the world that works!
I lurve foam rolling. I can’t wait to see the video. I’m sure there is stuff I don’t know!
I think there’s a setting on WLW for “background color” and it has to be set right so you dont see the little boxes…but im not positive.
I’m interested to see the discussion post. They always make me think!
pups are soooooooooo cute.
and thsoe waffles look fantastic. all that’s missing is a scoop of ice cream! 😉
Yes to foam rolling! I hear about it all the time on blog world but have no idea how to do it. And that haircut looks so cute 🙂
Your waffle snackage looks yummy! I love crunch!
Yay! I love posts frm the pilot! And you!! I miss funny quotes ladyy!
i miss training funny quotes lady :/
I also decided today I didn’t feel like going to Bikram and instead went to an awesome yoga class at my gym. 🙂
Thanks for teasing us with the empty dough bowl from those cookies — where are the finished products??? 🙂
I made your sweet potato chili today — we loved it. Now I just need some of that Daiya cheese to put on top!
Looking forward to pilot eats!
Cute doggies..and mobile groomers ROCK! Next up, get a mobile vet. Seriously they may charge a $20-25 trip charge but not having to take my animals to the psychotic craziness of the vet..worth every penny to do all their checkups in your own living room and no one has a near seizure from all the vet commotion. Well my doggies were always soo scared at the vet!
Anyway I am totally a texture person too. Things must have texture, crunch, or something…that’s why I never make vitamix pureed soups…so, texture-less..haha!
Enjoy your nite 🙂
just curious… where do you buy your cacao nibs and goji berries? are they an acquired taste or did you like em right off the bat?
i get them from opensky- i loved the taste the first time i tried them!
i’m so excited… i’m going to try them both!!!! 🙂 thanks so much!!
I love the first photo of all three pups looking up so intently. You had to have had a treat!
I’m an avid foam roller – it hurts so good. 😉
Those pups are so cute…I love how innocently they look, all peering up at the camera…too cute!
How to foam roll—yes, yes, yes, yes, YES! Can’t wait for that one!
I don’t like little dogs generally, but Senator Suave is adorable.
Awww, the doggies look so cute! (Especially Scamp! 😉 )
Looking forward to the posts coming up – I tried using a foam roller once but somehow it actually made me MORE sore than when I started! 😕
Thanks so much for the shout out! It was so nice to meet you in person today. I’m not gonna lie..I was a bit nervous when I saw you…it was like meeting a celebrity or something since I’ve been reading your blog for at least 2 years now. But I have to say I was a little embarrassed since I had just come from the pool and was covered in lotion and chlorine. Thanks for being so warm and friendly anyways! 😉 I can’t wait to see you again at Foodbuzz in a few weeks. We must meet up together there. Thanks again for the shout out!
I’m so excited about the foam roll post! I’m so bad at using those! lol you would think with everything I know about exercise physiology that I would at least know how to foam roll….negative 🙂
Groom to you is the best! We had it as a option for a while but it kid of fizzled out. Bummer for me b/c I always used it. I love the halloween bandanas; my dogs is sporting one too!
Ooh it sounds like we have a budding romance on our hands lol! 😉
I can’t wait for the post on how to foam roll. I have absolutely no idea how to do it!
I love to read your blogs and I especially love the parts about workouts, while I don’t really care about the food stuff. I can’t see why people should sneak inside other people’s dishes, that’s all.
Having said this, I find a little bit morbid that we should care about the “pilot eats” part. We’re all happy he likes a big burger or a steak, that’s ok. It seems to me you’re a bit envious, a bit unsatisfied with the way you eat so you have to take pics of his tastier numbers so that your blog comes out more colourful…
i’m sorry you feel that way, but have to disagree. you may notice that my meals are a lot more colorful than the pilots- i eat way more fruits and veggies. i provide his meals sometimes as a way to show that we don’t eat the same way, but we find a good balance. since there are many couples like us who eat differently, i like to provide options for those families. the only reason i was going to do a pilot eats post was to show how i pack his lunch and create our dinners to accommodate our eating styles.
i don’t really understand the part about me being envious of how he eats. i couldn’t be happier with the way i choose the fuel myself and i’m sorry you seem to have a problem with it.
Totally agree with you Gina! I love it when you show that just because you’re married doesn’t mean you have to eat the same things. Keep doin what you’re doin!
Gina, I love that you do the Pilots’ eats sometimes!! My BF eats a lot like him- he’s open to my healthy cooking, but still loves his meat and other “man food.” By incorporating his meals, I think you show that 1) balanced diets can come in many ways and 2) you don’t have to compromise one person’s tastes when cooking for two!
I really like it when you show how you eat compared to how the pilot eats. I think it’s really common for women to get married or move in with a man and struggle with things like nutritional requirements and portion sizes for themselves versus their man. I really struggled with this last year when I was training for a half marathon while my fiance was lifting weights all the time. Our nutritional requirements were worlds apart! He’s also a lot more carnivorous than I am, so it makes me feel better that I’m not the only one making him chicken and having an egg for myself!
I don’t understand why people feel the need to make comments like this. if you don’t like it then just skip that part. You are your own person and can make your own decisions.
Gina – keep up the good work! I like to see the contrast as my hubby and I eat differently so it is nice to see how one dish can be made in two different ways with some tweaks.
As someone who is the primary cook in the family and eats differently from her own husband, I can say that I really appreciate you sharing what you make for the pilot. Don’t change what you’re doing, Gina!
i enjoy reading about the pilots eats 🙂 i relate to gina, i ea the way she does, and my fiance eats the way the pilots does. before i started reading her blog(years ago) we kind of just compromised and ended with meals we both were not happy with.
I like seeing the pilots foods, because i get ideas for my future husbands.
so, i dont think its morbid at all, i have someone to share an amazing hobby with.
I also like seeing the contrast between the meals that Gina feeds herself and the meals that her Pilot chooses. I think many women can relate to choosing different nutrition from their significant others – women simply don’t need the same food combinations and volumes that men do!
I think Gina shows great examples of how it’s possible to make two very different meals for two very different eaters without lots of extra effort.
I luuuuurrrve foam rolling now – used to hate it when I did varsity cross country because all I felt was pain, but now that I do it regularly I’ve found that it really helps to prevent soreness and injuries. Love the photos of the puppers! 🙂
I really need to foam roll more regularly. I know my IT bands are tight- I’m just lazy!
aw, you’re the first blogger i’ve seen do a shout out to canada today! i went to college up there so i love to see that :).
Personally, I love seeing what the male counterparts of bloggers eat! It’s usually pretty different and really interesting. 🙂
I’m diggin’ the Pilot eats posts, Gina. My fiance is a major meat and potatoes boy (although, I’m getting him eating more and more veggies, even green beans and edamame and green peppers), and I always struggle with how to accommodate both our tastes, so seeing someone else do it might spark some inspirational fire under my bootay!
are you ever going to re post about the body builder who tried your high protein diet for 2 weeks? i forgot about that!
lol! um, he lasted one day. he was eating chicken wings the next day!! hahah
Gina – how anyone that is a regular reader of your blog could conclude that you are subconsciously channelling Burger Envy, or are somehow practicing some brand of food zealot martyrdom while The Pilot feasts, has clearly grabbed rather wildly at the wrong end of the stick.
Your blog is unashamedly a celebration of all that does a body good, and of delicious food in all shapes, sizes and dietary denominations.
And quite apart from anything else – you’re clearly a thoroughly nice person and have done nothing to deserve having ill-informed dimwits saying insulting things to you on your own blog! Hats off to your grace under fire, my dear.
