The cookies came with me to work (I left one at the house as a *tester*- definitely need to make the fam a full batch) because we did the inventory shift last night– 8am til 2am!

It wasn’t that bad though- we hung out and munched delicious food 😉

Pei Wizzle – teriyaki tofu, brown rice and veg

+ hummus and carrots, chips and salsa, whole foods brownies and cookies, pizza- it was quite a lovely spread 🙂

I came back to the casa, crashed out and slept until innnnnnnnnn….

then made GREEN OATS 😀

I have never tried spirulina but I would like to! I don’t think I eat too many weird foods, besides the combos I may make with bacon. 🙂

  2. Michelle C on October 19, 2010 at 10:27 am

I just got a foam roller this weekend. It was glorious after my run this weekend!!

I don’t eat anything tooooo weird but my roommate gets creeped out when I make things with spelt flour. She says it’s such a gross word that she refuses to try anything I make with it!

  3. Ilana on October 19, 2010 at 10:32 am

Everyone tells me I eat “weird” but I think everyone else eats weird – I mean, they eat, like, birds (chicken). Anyway. My roommate is really skeeved out by my green smoothies, just because theyre green. I say don’t judge a book by it’s color!

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2010 at 10:33 am

usually you can’t taste the green anyway!

      • Ilana on October 19, 2010 at 11:08 am

I know, right?? I keep offering her really good ones but she just makes a gaggy face and runs away. More for me 🙂

  4. Holly @ couchpotatoathlete on October 19, 2010 at 10:33 am

It seems like lately all I eat are foods topped with homemade pumpkin butter — I can’t get enough!

I do not miss working retail too often, but I really did enjoy inventory night. I worked for Pier 1 Imports for 6 years and for some reason counting all the candles and silk flowers was fun!

  5. Stefanie @thenewhealthy on October 19, 2010 at 10:36 am

Mustard is my weird addition to so many foods! I like it on everything!!

  6. Kilee on October 19, 2010 at 10:38 am

I really admire your decision to back off of the full time job and spend more time blogging since it makes you so happy! Keep up the good work and have fun!

  7. jenna on October 19, 2010 at 10:49 am

    your sludge looks great 😉

  8. fittingbackin on October 19, 2010 at 10:58 am

Thanks again for the foam roller tips!! I like your “weird” food – I think i’m pretty lame/standard with my food!

  9. skinnyrunner on October 19, 2010 at 11:03 am

weird food of choice… i really like salty things on my salads so tons of pickles, saurkraut and feta cheese. seems normal to me. sorta.

  10. Mi-An Dela Cruz on October 19, 2010 at 11:14 am

in our world, i think my weird foods are normal (i.e. carob powder), but in other people’s world, they haven’t heard of carob chips/carob powder! i put it in my oats, chocolate shake in place of high fructose chocolate syrup (yuck!). other one is nutritional yeast. btw i made vegan brownies from skinny bitch in the kitch…it was so good! you would’ve died! bc i think i did after eating some! hahaha

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2010 at 11:59 am

i have that cookbook- will have to try that recipe!

  11. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on October 19, 2010 at 11:20 am

I still get weird looks from some people when I make green monsters – it’s amazing how much colour affects what people eat! Other than that I can’t think of many weird ones, but I do like salsa a LOT and get some weird comments when I eat it on veggies (which I don’t see anything wrong with!)

  12. allison @ thesundayflog on October 19, 2010 at 11:21 am

i worked at juicy for a season and loved doing inventory and black friday shifts! we always had yummy food and a total blast in the back. i also tried pei wei for the first time on friday and FELL IN LOVE!!! it was so so so delish. i went with shrimp coconut curry and brown rice. i want it again!

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2010 at 11:59 am

i’ve had the shrimp coconut curry before- it’s SO GOOD 🙂

  13. Alayna @ Thyme Bombe on October 19, 2010 at 11:22 am

My husband thinks everything I eat is weird. Great idea to put spirulina in your oats! I’m kinda done with smoothies for the season, I’m craving warm things so this is a great solution.

  14. Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg on October 19, 2010 at 11:29 am

I still get weird looks from my dad when I drink green monsters at home…even though my mom now drinks them too!

  15. Heather (Heather's Dish) on October 19, 2010 at 11:31 am

oof, i don’t know how i feel about green oats, but my sister LOVES them! at least they’re pretty 🙂

  16. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on October 19, 2010 at 11:32 am

My co-workers think my green smoothies are SO WEIRD! I used to try to “hide” the green from them by adding blueberries, but eventually I just started bringing my bright green smoothies to work, instead! Talk about a great conversation starter… “What the HECK is THAT you’re drinking?!?” Ha ha. 😉

I actually lugged my Vita-Mix to my office and made green smoothies for all my co-workers, just so they could see that I’m NOT crazy. Everyone who was “brave” enough to try it, really liked it! They agreed you can’t taste the green at all!

Maybe I can convince my boss to invest in a Vita-mix for the office one day!

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2010 at 11:58 am

      that would be AMAZING 🙂

      • Kilee on October 19, 2010 at 8:32 pm

One of my jobs at work is to make smoothies for all of the employees and patients each morning. I convinced them to get a high power blender (I love Vita, but they were able to find a Blendtec) and I make all types of fun smoothies each day!

  17. Shanna @ Shanna LIke Banana on October 19, 2010 at 11:42 am

Hmmm, green oats are interesting 😉

I put salsa in my cottage cheese and it looks pretty disgusting but tastes great and makes a fab snack!

  18. Silvia on October 19, 2010 at 11:42 am

Hmm, this really looks like food from Mars ! 🙂

  19. Krystina (Organically Me) on October 19, 2010 at 11:50 am

I’m glad you put spirulina in these because I’ve been curious about this for a while. I haven’t been using spirulina much recently but I’d love to try it in oats.

  20. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on October 19, 2010 at 11:50 am

I’m sure the oats taste good, but I’m not sure I could eat them when they’re colored green. It’s like that time when I was 8 and put red food coloring in my milk. Yes, it tasted the same. But I couldn’t get it down.

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2010 at 11:57 am

it’s weird how color can cause food aversions when it’s tastes the same!

  21. Michelle @ Turning Over a New Leaf on October 19, 2010 at 11:51 am

A coworker looked at me strange one morning when she saw me eating out of peanut butter jar with a spoon and calling it breakfast.

‘Twas overnight oats in a jar.

  22. Moni'sMeals on October 19, 2010 at 12:09 pm

Weird foods are the good foods that WE all like and everyone else are the lost ones! Eating their white bread and doughnuts for breakfast…hehe.

Glad you survived the inventory! Anything with good food makes the expereice better, right!

When I help friends move for example, I am happy to help, but for more motivation-my question is always though, what is the food brib for the day? 🙂

  23. Katalina @ GreenLivingNY on October 19, 2010 at 12:40 pm

oh God I am sorry I have to say that but those oats really look weird, I can have green smoothies no problem, but I dont know about green oats 🙂

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2010 at 12:42 pm

      haha 🙂

  24. Menden on October 19, 2010 at 12:49 pm

My fiance still thinks it’s weird every time he sees me drinking a green smoothie! Other than that, I guess some may consider it weird that I add hot sauce/ chili pepper / some kind of spicy condiment to just about everything I eat. What can I say, I like it spicy! 🙂

  25. Laughter-Loving Stacy on October 19, 2010 at 12:57 pm

Ha, I think the only green thing I drink are matcha green tea smoothies at Jamba Juice or the lattes at Starbucks… or Odwalla Superfood. 🙂

  26. Paige @ Running Around Normal on October 19, 2010 at 1:10 pm

Oooh inventory. I remember those days for retail. Except we’d do it BEFORE the store opens. 5:00 a.m.! yikes…

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2010 at 1:23 pm

ewwww! early mornings and i aren’t friends 😉

  27. Lisa on October 19, 2010 at 1:20 pm

I recently bought spiriluna, but I have it in pill form. I couldnt find the liquid form, but I hear its soooo good for you!

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2010 at 1:23 pm

it’s AMAZING for you! so many nutrients 🙂

  28. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on October 19, 2010 at 1:27 pm

Green mushy food = what most bloggers eat 🙂 Everything from green chia pudding to green oats to green monsters to smoothies with green to green juices, we eat it 🙂

Inventory. Brought back days of working retail in h.s. where we’d get locked in the bldg til like midnite and count things. Oh I do not relish those memories 🙁 Hopefully yours is a little more humane than my memories!

Have a super day and that placemat or tablecloth is so pretty that you have the green bowl on top of!

    🙂

  29. Clare @ Fitting It All In on October 19, 2010 at 1:34 pm

My girlfriends in college thought ALL my food was so weird, but got used to it! I eventually even got them to like my green monsters! But they definitely thought baked sweet potatoes with greek yogurt was weird.

  30. salah on October 19, 2010 at 1:39 pm

I love putting spinach in my oats 🙂

  31. Edith on October 19, 2010 at 2:17 pm

Monster is quite possibly the greatest song ever!! I love it!
I saw her in concert a few weeks ago and it was amazing 🙂

  33. Allison @ Food for Healing on October 19, 2010 at 2:34 pm

everyone thinks my green smoothies are weird, especially when you say there is spinach in it, they think its so gross. or when i made chia pudding, because its all slimey

  34. Heather @ Get Healthy with Heather on October 19, 2010 at 2:49 pm

When I add hemp protein powder to my oats I tend to try strange looks from my husband or family. I think they should be kinds used to it now 🙂

  35. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on October 19, 2010 at 3:28 pm

People in my sorority always laugh at all my different nut butters, plus goji berries, chia seeds, flaxseed meal. I forgot how weird they were until I moved in.

  36. Cilla on October 19, 2010 at 4:47 pm

My colleagues eat things like 2 minute noodles and meat pies and KFC for lunch, so they find my healthier work lunches very strange. “Hummus. Huh. Sounds like a swearword.”

I’ve never tried spirulina before. I’ll make it a goal for next week and add it to my shopping list 🙂

  37. Barbara on October 19, 2010 at 7:26 pm

do you have any recommendations for workout videos similar to the dance trance class you take or a funky high impact aerobic routine?

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2010 at 8:55 pm

i wish i did, but not :/ it’s unlike anything i’ve ever tried!! anyone else know??

  38. Mary @ Bites and Bliss on October 19, 2010 at 9:31 pm

I remember green oats!! Not sure why I stopped having them. They’re nutrient packed and a cool color- ya can’t go wrong 😉

  39. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on October 19, 2010 at 10:48 pm

I know it’s pretty normal by blog standards, but my family and roommates think my pumpkin oatmeal is pretty weird! 😛

  40. LisaCazz on October 19, 2010 at 11:56 pm

My husband and I went on a cruise in August and brought our own Sun Warrior, nut butter, and spirulina and added all that (plus chia seeds) to our oats every morning. They looked crazy green just like yours and we got a TON of strange looks from the other cruisers.

  41. Karen on October 20, 2010 at 7:27 am

I would make egg whites in a muffin pan and bake them in the oven. I ate these all the time everywhere I went. People always thought I was weird and boring. I loved them. If I was in a hurry I would make them in a ice cube tray and cook in the microwave. Then they looked like I was eating ice cubes.

  42. Sana on October 20, 2010 at 9:26 am

I feel like I do eat weird food. But for some reason I can’t think of anything weird at the moment!

  43. Alyssa on October 20, 2010 at 8:10 pm

I remember one time my landlord came in to fix the toilet and I was drinking a lovely shake of boysenberries and spinach and he goes to me, “That looks…ummm….pretty interesting.” So i tried to explain what it was and he just looked at me funny. I was cracking up after he left, because I’m sure it looked like I was drinking slushy poo.
