The void is filled

Hey everyone!!! Hope you’ve had a wonderful day 😀 So glad you liked the Roasted Veggies and Pesto Pasta recipe from earlier! I couldn’t bring it weak with my first at-home meal from school.

Speaking of school, I’m sure that my experience has piqued curiosity in many of you about potentially attending the academy. Please let me know if you’re thinking of going and have any questions about it—I’d be more than happy to answer them.

So tonight, my Indian food void was quelled.

033

That’s my long lost Baiga Bhartha love right there.

Devoured.

034

Along with the dippers and pappadum:

029

028

Vino (I was celebrating.. not sure what. Life? Haha)

031

It was so lovely. I guess being home isn’t so bad after all 😉

To rewind back to earlier this afternoon, I finally made some KALE CHIPS!

023

Three Teflexx sheets worth and I made sure to make some pieces extra cheeeeesy

024

They’re in the dehydrator getting nice and crispy-like

(After I tweak the school’s recipe and make it my own –this batch was an experiment- I’ll be happy to share it with you)

Afternoon snack was a nanner with almond butter, mesquite and cinnamon:

022

(To those of you who aren’t sure about mesquite, I promise it doesn’t taste like tree bark as it might sound—it has a sweet, nutty flavor)

All washed down with a Dave Farmar 60-minute yoga podcast. I was sweating, but it wasn’t anything like being in the heated room in OKC. Can I buy a space heater and turn the guest room into a yoga room?? Has anyone tried this before?

After yoga, I grabbed an unpictured cucaracha (aka medjool date) and met Jeni at the gym for some cardio and weights.

Frontal raises 5 lbs each 3 sets of 12
OH tricep dumbbell extension 12 lbs 3 sets of 12
Stability ball push-up Body weight 3 sets of 12
Elliptical Level 6 10 minutes
Dumbbell Upward Row 8 lbs each 3 sets of 12
V-rope triceps press 40 lbs 3 sets of 10
Supine chest press 5 lbs each 3 sets of12
Elliptical Cross country 2 program 20 minutes
Total time: 1 hr 10 min

After the gym, we had our delicious Indian feast. It was so nice catching up with Jeni and hearing about everything I missed while I was away. I’m excited to see my other friends as well—there’s rumor of a Jacksonville trip this weekend 😀

I’m off to do some laundry and then pack AGAIN because I’m leaving for Orlando in the morning! Time to pick up the Bella-boo from my auntie’s and hang out with the girls.

Have a great night!

Much love,

G

About the yoga in the guest room…I do a Bikram type yoga-download (no Bikram studio near me!!!) and I got the suggestion to put the space heater in your bathroom, close the door, and let it heat for a while before and then do your thing with the heat still on! Of course, it’s not going to get to 104 degrees…but I usually get a pretty good sweat on! I usually light candles and put those in the shower and on the counter tops for a calming atmosphere!

Those kale chips look amazing, so amazing. I’ve only ever eaten them with ketchup, what is the cheese you put on them? Forgive me if I missed that somewhere. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on October 7, 2009 at 10:14 pm

      hey carrie,
      it’s a cashew-based cheese with spices… ahhh so good!

  5. tiffany on October 7, 2009 at 10:09 pm

I definitely would try a humidifier over a space heater. I’ve tried it with a space heater and found it to be very very dry and hard to breathe in. Not fun to breathe in dry heat! Yikes.

    • Fitnessista on October 7, 2009 at 10:14 pm

oh good to know! or maybe i could do both??

  6. Paige @ Running Around Normal on October 7, 2009 at 10:09 pm

Hooray for Indian food and kale chips!! You’re cheesy version looks quite lovely. I might just have to snag that recipe from you if you’re willing to share it. 🙂

    Have a lovely night Gina!

yay you got your indian food! it’s been too long since my last fix!

  11. Heather McD (Heather Eats Almond Butter) on October 7, 2009 at 10:57 pm

I knew you wouldn’t go much longer without your Indian fix.

CANNOT wait for the kale chip recipe, and I think the space heater in the guest room would totally work. 🙂

  12. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on October 7, 2009 at 10:58 pm

Can I buy a space heater and turn the guest room into a yoga room?? Yes.

Has anyone tried this before? Yes.

Just be careful you dont burn your house down 🙂 Space heaters are notoriously scary for that but yeah girl, go for it. And if you run a humidifier in there too it wont be such dry heat which is sometimes nice, too.

    Kale chips look awesome!

And bon voyage, safe Orlando travels!

  13. HangryPants on October 8, 2009 at 6:48 am

I think the space heater is an excellent idea!

Hi Gina! Yes, a space heater works. I have done it. I am a Bikram fanatic. I practice in downtown Orlando. One of the Bikram teacher who is trained in many other styles just opened a Power Yoga studio – orlandopoweryoga.com It is Baron Baptiste style – heated room. It is amazing! Sweat, glorious sweat! Let me know if you have any questions. You can get your yoga fix while in Orando.

    • Fitnessista on October 8, 2009 at 10:09 am

  19. Carrie on October 8, 2009 at 9:57 am

I can’t wait for the kale chip recipe. I have heard about them, but haven’t taken the plunge to try them yet! Everything looks great!

  20. cjbrownsc on October 8, 2009 at 10:03 am

    Hi Gina!
You always make your meals look fun and interesting! I get really bored with eating the same things so I have enjoyed finding this blog and trying out some of your recipes. The breakfast cookie, and the very simple, yet very tasty, bananas with almond butter are my favorite so far.
I have a question, and please forgive me if you’ve already answered this, but what kind/brand of wine do you drink and is it always red?

    • Fitnessista on October 8, 2009 at 10:09 am

      hey!
i’ll drink any wine, as long as it’s red 😀 if there’s organic available, i always roll with that

How funny… I just had kale chips last night for dinner and was amazed by them because I had never seen kale prepared that way and then here you are with some today! They are everywhere. I really enjoyed them. I bet I would like yours even better since they have cheese!

  22. HealthySDLiving on October 8, 2009 at 10:17 am

    • Fitnessista on October 8, 2009 at 11:43 am

  23. Danielle on October 8, 2009 at 10:33 am

Mmmm, I think I have to get some good Indian food this weekend now. I don’t have a choice 😉 have a safe trip darling!

  24. Tina on October 8, 2009 at 10:38 am

Ahhhh that Indian food looks so good. I’ve been wanting to get some legit Indian food for a long time. Last year, I nannied for an Indian family but we never had dinner together. And then I go to school and my family and their family have an entire feast together! I was so sad I missed out on it. The grandmother from India was there and everything. Totally authentic.

    • Fitnessista on October 8, 2009 at 11:42 am

i’m beyond jealous! i had an indian roommate in college who always wanted to cook for me, and i was like ,”ehhhhh, no thanks”. little did i know how much i was MISSING OUT!!!

  25. Diana (Soap & Chocolate) on October 8, 2009 at 10:56 am

It’s baigan bhartha Comeback Tour 2009! Haha 😀 I will associate it with you forevermore.

I’m so down for doing kale chips now that I’ve busted my fear of subbing the oven for a dehydrator. Made a kickass bunch of juicer pulp crackers using the lowest setting on the oven and I can’t wait to play with it more!

  26. Sarah on October 8, 2009 at 12:13 pm

I finally tried that dish the last time I went to an Indian restaurant and it was the best ever! Glad you finally got your fix 🙂

  27. Heather on October 13, 2009 at 11:37 am

WOW! Yes, I need your recipe for kale chips. I tried to make some and was not as successful. They were good, but yours look MUCH more appetizing.
