Brunch Legend

Morning friends! <3 It’s a gorgeous day.

Even more amazing because we just back from a lovely brunch at my nana’s 🙂

As I’ve said many times on the blog before, my nana always prepares a legendary spread of food.

This morning, there was the egg casserole to my soul, ham

casserole

Apricot French toast, sausage and quiche

quiche

potatoes

homemade cinnamon rolls and a fruit plate.

cinnamon rolls

I know, right?

My plate of happiness:

breakfast

+ more egg casserole.. I love it so much 🙂

For dessert, there was peach cobbler and the best carrot cake I’ve ever had:

and chocolate mousse pie.

pie

Insane.

I split a piece of carrot cake with my cousin and also had some peach cobbler 🙂

Today was especially fun because pretty much the entire side of my dad’s family was over there. It was nice to catch up with everyone and get lots of belly rubs 😉 LOVE Sunday brunches.

Now we’re back at the casa, getting ready to finish up unpacking. We’re determined to be able to park both cars in the garage today….

boxes

Eek!!

{Yes, that’s a hookah. The Pilot brought it back as a souvenir from his travels}

I’m going to escape for a little break to hit up Louis’ LaBlast class in between unpacking. I’ll snap a pic, for sure 🙂

See ya later today!
xoxo

Wow, how can you even choose from all those great options?? I think if I were you I’d end up having a bit of everything! Kudos to you for having focus!

    • Fitnessista on August 7, 2011 at 3:34 pm

a lot of the options had meat in them, so it made it easier. but i am ALL OVER the egg casserole every time- my fave 🙂

  2. Ali @ urbanfruitbat on August 7, 2011 at 3:31 pm

Hahaha, I love that you are so excited about getting belly rubs! I cannot believe the amount of food that your nana makes. When does she start cooking? And in all of that food, she mush have used at LEAST 4 dozen eggs. Crazy sauce. Have an awesome unpacking Sunday!

    • Fitnessista on August 7, 2011 at 3:33 pm

she does it a few days in advance and freezes certain things. she used to own a catering company… and she is a wizard 🙂

  3. Laury @ thefitnessdish on August 7, 2011 at 3:31 pm

    Have a fun Sunday!

  9. Maria on August 7, 2011 at 3:52 pm

That abs workout looks great!!!! You should try weighted leans, they’re great for obliques!!! 🙂

  10. Kiah on August 7, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Looks delicious!! I love brunch with family and friends…something about the overabundance of food + socializing in the early afternoon equals perfection. Actually, I’m so inspired, I’m going to get my butt in gear, finish unpacking myself, and organize a housewarming friend-fun-brunch! Thanks for sharing!
    ~Kiah
P.S. So cool that you get to work with Luis! He’s my favorite.

  11. Ashley @ The Fit Academic on August 7, 2011 at 4:02 pm

Hilarious because my first thought was totally “Is that a hookah!?” ….and then I read your comment! Too funny!

  12. Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance on August 7, 2011 at 4:08 pm

Good luck with the unpacking– That definitely has to be one of my LEAST favorite things about moving 🙁

  13. Nicole on August 7, 2011 at 4:13 pm

Oh how I love brunch! Breakfast food is the best…and then getting dessert afterward? Perfect!

  14. Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups on August 7, 2011 at 4:18 pm

Sounds like a fun and delicious Sunday brunch!

  15. Ninja on August 7, 2011 at 4:18 pm

Wow, especially the cakes look amazing! thats the hard part of turning vegan, evrth includes eggs or dairy – so if I want to have some treat at a party, I have to bring it myself.
But I would’ve been very happy about the colorful fruit platter!!!

  16. Tami on August 7, 2011 at 4:19 pm

I think Nana needs to do a guest post with all her recipes! yum.

  17. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on August 7, 2011 at 4:41 pm

I must be blind, I dont even see the hookah in the pic. lol

    All I see is this
“peach cobbler and the best carrot cake I’ve ever had”– I would have had SUCH A hard time choosing. And then throw in the chocolate dessert. That’s what elastic pants are for, right? 🙂

The brunch and times with fam are great…so happy for you two. Good luck with Project Car Park!

  18. Chloe (In Fine Feather) on August 7, 2011 at 4:47 pm

Brunch is by FAR my favorite meal and this one looks awesome! I love potatoes, fruit, and eggs (especially in casserole form) and could eat that kind of breakfast every day of my life. Good luck with the unpacking – I’ll be in the same boat in about a week and a half!

  19. Lauren @ Fun, Fit and Fabulous! on August 7, 2011 at 4:54 pm

Woah that was quite a spread!!!! Gotta love Nanas!!!!

  20. Tasha @ Voracious Eats on August 7, 2011 at 5:26 pm

I think your nana is my hero. Can I come over for brunch next time? I will try my hardest to leave you a slice of egg casserole; I love it so much too! I had brunch this morning in one of the best restaurants in London, and it didn’t look half as good as this spread! 🙂

  21. Maria @ a life to Bragg about on August 7, 2011 at 5:50 pm

That is the brunch of my dreams! I wish I could go to your nana’s! And then work everything off in that pool!

  22. Kelly @ Kelly Be Well on August 7, 2011 at 5:55 pm

Have you ever posted the amazing egg casserole recipe? I can remember you saying it’s amazing, but I’m kind of wondering how to make it! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on August 7, 2011 at 6:40 pm

i don’t have the recipe.. and i don’t want to ask nana for it because i don’t want to know what’s in it. my guess is eggs, lots of cheese, green chilies and heavy cream

  23. Ashley on August 7, 2011 at 6:02 pm

Seriously the best carrot cake ever! It was great seeing you today. Maddi is famous now with her debut on your blog 🙂

    • Fitnessista on August 7, 2011 at 6:39 pm

hahah! she wouldn’t show her face though 😉 thanks for being my carrot cake buddy- loved seeing you today!

  24. Jen @familyfoodfitnessandfun on August 7, 2011 at 6:04 pm

Oh my…that food spread looks amazing! I wouldn’t know what to choose…perhaps a bit of everything! Good luck with the rest of the unpacking 🙂

  25. Krystina (Organically Me) on August 7, 2011 at 6:23 pm

Apricot French toast?! Be still, my heart.

  30. Carmel on August 7, 2011 at 8:17 pm

Do you eat desserts even when they’re not gluten free?

    • Fitnessista on August 7, 2011 at 8:51 pm

Very occasionally. I found that it doesn’t bother my stomach if I don’t do it too often and just have a small serving

  31. Cait @ Beyond Bananas on August 7, 2011 at 8:35 pm

Does your grandmother do traveling brunches? If so I would like to book her for a brunch in CT asap!! 🙂 love that the pilot has added a hookah to your collection..that’s pretty cool!

  32. Jess @ Fit Chick in the City on August 7, 2011 at 8:36 pm

  35. Ali @ Peaches and Football on August 7, 2011 at 10:25 pm

I think it was a beautiful day everywhere today! I love good times with the family. My grandma is in town and she made her famous spaghetti sauce for us. Yum. I love it how certain foods you associate with a specific person. 🙂

  36. Brenda on August 7, 2011 at 11:17 pm

OMG!! I WANNA COME OVER TO YOUR NANA’S FOR BRUNCH! I’M USUALLY THE ONE THAT HAS TO MAKE EVERYTHING AND NOBODY IN MY FAMILY APPRECIATES IT. I CAN PUT AN AMAZING FOOD SPREAD TOGETHER AND THEY ALWAYS WISH THERE WAS ANOTHER DESSERT OR A DRINK OR WHATEVER, IT WOULD BE NICE TO BE INVITED TO A FABULOUS BRUNCH LIKE THAT! 🙂 MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!

  37. Leslie Wingate on August 8, 2011 at 12:30 am

YUMMALICIOUS! How many eggs does it take to make that casserole? Holy moly! lol Looks like quite a spread. Baby Pilot is thinking, “Hey, I like this NaNa person! When can I eat her stuff pureed in a blender!?”

    • Fitnessista on August 8, 2011 at 1:22 am

      haha for real!

  38. Kate on August 8, 2011 at 7:37 pm

I LOVE that your family gets together for brunch on the weekends! I hope to one day have enough family in the same area that we can do this on a regular basis!

  39. meghan@ struggle muffins on August 8, 2011 at 8:06 pm

Your Nana seems to be a miracle worker – what an amazing spread! The desserts alone look outta control! Oh, and did I see potater tots in there!? Tots are only the best incarnation of potatoes known to man.

    • Fitnessista on August 8, 2011 at 8:08 pm

totally tater tots. so delicious 🙂
and yes, she is a miracle worker!

    Hey Gina,
I finally got through this an burner without feeling like death! Before whenever I tried this I got about halfway through the sprinters before my body started crying. It felt so good to complete it!
