Holiday Gift Guide 2011: For the Dudes
Guys can be pretty tricky to shop for. They never seem to tell you what they want, or if they really want something, they’ll just go out and buy it. Punks!
Hopefully this little gift guide will help make shopping a little easier:
For the Fitnessist-o 😉
3) Design-your-own nutrition bars and shakes
4) Yoga bag
5) Camelbak
-Gym or yoga studio membership (or punch card), new sneaks, gym bag, golf gift certificate for his favorite course, weight lifting gloves, iPod, Garmin, magazine subscription
For the Foodie:
-Grill accessories, cookbooks, unique serving ware, wine of the month, fancy schmancy sea salts and olive oil
For the Stylish Guy:
5) iPad cover
6) A man bag
For the AnyDude:
1) Charles Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky
2) Tickets to an event: a concert, sporting event or comedian that he loves
3) K Cup coffee maker. We’ve only had ours for a week and the Pilot LOVES it. Bonus: the Cuisinart brand (which is what we have) comes with a reusable pod that you can fill with your own coffee, tea or hot cocoa.
7) Anything techy: Xbox, iPad, video games, etc
8) A spa treatment- something they’ll pretty much never buy for themselves, but love every time.

So many guys I know are obsessed with pima cotton tees. The Lacoste ones are great!
they’re so soft and comfy! i have a couple of pima tees from lulu and wear them all the time 🙂

Just wondering if there would be a December Schweaty workout coming up?? I love the monthly workouts they are nice to mix in and change things up.
i was debating it since december is so crazy busy for everyone. was thinking of just doing lots of the workout quickies this month instead. what do you think? if you definitely still want one, i’ll be happy to do it
I totally understand the crazyness of the month so I totally understand if you don’t put one together. I appreciate them but also appreciate the quickies whatever is easiest I am sure you are super busy with holidays and the upcoming arrival of your little one.
good ideas!! my husband and dad are so hard to shop for. my dad pretty much returns anything thats not a book or wine haha. these are good ones though…i think my hubs would like the north face jacket…my dad the whiskey?
my dad is so hard to shop for, too. i’ll either get him a golf certificate, or omaha steaks. he LOVES those 🙂
The beer making kit makes me want to add a wine making kit to my wish list.
Hubby wants to wait until we move to a house to start making beer. I’m excited for that. The malty whiskey looks like a good idea and so does the camelbak! Perhaps it will encourage him to go hiking more. mua ha ha ha.

This is a great gift guide! My boyfriend and I were shopping at Saks Off Fifth recently and found a pair of really awesome cozy sweatpants, but not in his size. I have tried to find something similar, but didn’t think about checking Lululemon until you suggested the jacket. Do you know anything about the men’s Lulu pants? I was thinking about these:

the pilot has 2 pairs of the formula pants and loves them. i like them better than the kung fu pant- the fit is a little different and not as baggy.

trying to figure out what to get my man for our holiday/anniversary celebration is really impossible when he just bought himself a friggin Rolex. i might have to get him that three wisemen flask – with him, the key is buying and making him things he would never have thought to get himself that he will just enjoy immensely. awesome soft pajamas for hanukkah one year, incredible suede slippers the following valentine’s day…
for my dad, it’s always a shirt from Lulu. It’s nice to have that in common 🙂
the pilot is the same way.. he just got himself a crazy expensive gun he had been wanting a few weeks ago. i was like “merry christmas?” haha.

Guys are always super hard to shop for and it makes it almost impossible to suck out any hints from them because hey never know what they want! At least my brother, dad, and now my Dear 😛
My guy is impossible to shop for, but I actually grabbed a few ideas from this list 🙂
We also have the Keurig brewer – not the cuisinart, and it also came with the reusable K-Cup which I absolutely love! Saves the environment and we can brew exactly the coffee we want!
I love the reusable K-Cup too… but the Van Houtte butterscotch coffee is also AMAZING and I hope I get some for Christmas. I wish I knew more people with Keurigs because the K-Cups make a great stocking stuffer and you can never have too many!
The only guy I really have to buy for is my dad but it is SO hard! The man has everything and wants nothing! And I like buying unique thoughtful gifts so it makes finding something even harder!

So far, I have bought three things for my guy, the most exciting being an expensive, remote controlled airplane ! haha he LOVES the r/c helicopters but has been wanting to get into airplanes and I found a model that should be good for him as a beginner. One day he wants one of his ACTUAL plane, but they are SO expensive !

Scott and I actually haven’t exchanged holiday gifts in years (or anniversary, bday, etc.). We pool our money and put it into the travel fund and take a trip rather than doing gifts so I am getting off without having to think about men’s gifts anymore. My dad tells me not to buy him anything, so I have it good 🙂

Pima cotton is the best! I love it! And I love this gift guide. My boyfriend loves shopping so is easy to shop for him but I always appreciate extra suggestions!
I’m single right now, but I have the hardest time shopping for men (anyone really), so your gift guides are so helpful! I’ll be keeping this in mind for the potential future 😛
My boyfriend is also in the army and he’s training to be a linguist. He’ll be at “school” in Texas after Christmas. Did the pilot like to use anything in particular when he was away? He’s so hard to buy for!
My husband always recommends the Mr. Beer as a great kit for a beginner. He started with one and now does all-grain mashes in a 15 gallon pot – our home is full of brewing equipment! So, I guess, buyer beware 🙂
Great gift ideas for sure, but I think what makes things harder during the holiday season is when you’ve just started to date someone. Do you buy a gift, do you not buy a gift. If you do buy a gift how much should you spend blah blah blah. These things really do set the tone of the relationship going forward.
ehhh that’s a tricky one! i’d ask him what he’d like as a gift and see what type of ideas he gives. if he says “i don’t want/need anything” maybe then something smaller?? definitely a tough one

Love this! My guy loves his home teams and coffee and any type of clothing, so I usually have some things to fall back on!
I am clueless when it comes to man shopping. What a great guide.
This is SO awesome…I got my husband slippers, but obviously need something more. I’m thinking of getting him a really nice pair of running sunglasses and a cool sports watch…just upgrade the basics 🙂

Ha! I actually just bought my guy a designer watch for his gift! 🙂 He’s usually really hard to buy for – ie. he’s the type of guy who just buys himself what he’s wanting at the time… no matter the season. So I’m glad I actually managed to figure out a good gift that I really do know he wants! 😉
