Birthday shrimp
โBirthday shrimp
Birthday shrimp
Itโs the best day of the year, girlโ
Come on, you know the song ๐
We just got back from an awesome hibachi dinner with some friends ๐
Itโs my friend Jeniโs birthday (whoo hoo!), so we celebrated our birthdays together since mine was last week.
We went to Ichiban, which is a pretty delicious (for Valdosta) Japanese steakhouse.
I had an unpictured glass of Cabernet (sorry! Not like youโve never seen me drink wine though, haha)
Soupie:
Salad with ginger dressing:
Veg:
SHRIMP!
We even got the โbirthday specialโ, in which the servers bang on drums and sing a birthday song:
And a fruit boat!
Thatโs my kinda cake ๐
I had a blasty with everyone, even though I woke up 20 minutes before dinner. Let me explainโฆ.
Instead of my elliptical sesh as planned, my friend Ashley had an opening so I went to see her for an hour massage. Iโve been really tired lately and figured my aching back could use a rub. After the massage, a nutrition consultation with a new client, errands and training appointment, I still hadnโt eaten lunch, so when I finished up, I raced back to the casa to have some food before I could work out.
Since I didnโt fuel myself properly today, I was STARVING.
I had an Ezekiel English muffin with Earth Balance, maca and cinnamon:
An egg + 1 egg white topped with leftover chili:
And a huge salad:
It was quite scrumptious:
After I finally ate, I was even MORE tired. I could feel the toxins releasing from the massage and pair that with an enormous food baby, I decided to take a rest. I woke up two hours later :/
Iโm usually excellent about feeding myself properly and snacking all day, but todayโs hectic schedule and lack of planning messed me up a little. Lesson: 5 small meals a day, no matter what!
Time to crash out, wake up refreshed and ready to tackle a 7 mile tempo run.
Night, bloggies <3
xoxo,
Gina
*I promise to catch up on emails tomorrow! I havenโt forgotten about you, promise.
Happy Birthday for last week!
I love love love Japanese restaurants like this.
I think it’s so cool how they cook in front of you -it’s such a performance!
Good luck for your run tomorrow -enjoy ๐
You guys are all adorable! What a fun group!
Enjoy your run. I have 5 miles tomorrow praying for sunshine! Haven’t ran since Sunday *blushes*
yum that shrimp looks soo tasty!!! Birthday shrimp sounds good to me!
LOVE ginger dressing- it’s so chunky and delicious (‘chunky’ probably isn’t the best word choice, haha). I have a place like that by my house and the food is awesome!!
I just wanted to say that I love your blog! I stumbled upon it a few days ago and now you have a new admirer. haha! Seriously, though, you are such an inspiration. Quick question, what is maca and where do you get it? Is it a spice/herb or is it liquid form? What exactly would you say it tastes like? Okay, maybe not such a quick question, but if you would respond, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
I love hibachi! What a fun way to celebrate the bdays. ๐
Looks like a fun place to go for a birthday!
dinner looks really great! i am never quite sure what to get at japanese and chinese restaurants etc. but they all look great and on the healthy side ๐
jenna
What a fun birthday celebraciรณn! Everything looks great!
Sorry you had a crash out today, but I’ll bet you rock your tempo run with the extra rest ๐
Yea for fruit as a birthday dessert!and I guess your body needed that rest!!!
I am always so full of soup and salad by the time the chef come out to cook the meat, I’m done!! I keep trying to convince the husband to share with me, but it’s a no go.
I have been noticing I get tired if I eat to much at one time, although some times I have no choice. I prefer to eat small meals throughout the day, but it is hard. Good luck on your run ๐
You listened to your body and gave it much-needed rest, that’s never a bad thing!
Good luck on your run tomorrow, you’ll kill it ๐
bah who doesn’t want birthday shrimp ๐ Also ginger dressing is amazing, I had sushi tonight and practically died over the fantastic ginger dressing
I know that song! You are too funny, Gina.
What a fun bday celebration!! I love japanese!! Is that Miso Soup you ordered?! I just did a post on miso soup if you are interested ๐
Food baby! haha!! I always say I am in a food coma. I think I will have to try out “food baby” ๐
<3, D
It all looks super fun and yummy!!!
BAHAHAHAHAHA love your take on that Jermiah song ๐
Dinner sounds great! Oh how I miss shrimpies!
I always love going to those kind of places, but my body ALWAYS revolts against me and I pay for it a few hours later. I’ve sworn off those places. My husband is effected the same way!
i used to get really sick after eating there too, but once i stopped getting rice, i was fine! weird, huh?
Yea ive just started to do the whole 5 meals thing…at first i felt like i was constantly eating but it definitely keeps your energy up and small portions throughout the day actually makes you feel great! but sometimes those food babies are just so good ๐ and I love that you got sung to with such a fan affair!
SO FUNN!! Hibachi is so much fun and yummo! Where did you get that shirt you are wearing! looks cute!
thanks girl! charlotte russe!
Hi Gina!
I’ve been reading for a while now. I love your blog and come to it often (daily, is that often enough?! – LOL). Your egg topped with chili, on the cutest serving bowl ever, looks amazing! Have a great day girl. And, btw – sometimes a girl just has to sleep!
thank you for saying hello and for reading my little blog ๐
Oh my goodness that Birthday “Shrimp” song is soooooooo ridiculous! I feel like the hubby and I can never talk about birthdays anymore without one of us singing it (well, the few words we know) ๐
aha those are the only words i know, too ๐
the shrimps look good and the fruit boat, so beautiful. I’ve never been to a japanese steakhouse. I’ll have to try that soon ๐
LOVE Hibachi!! I always choose that for my birthday!
So many fun bday celebrations lately! I’m still celebrating yours for you in NYC!
I bought maca! I’m so excited to try it!!!
whoo hoo! let me know what you think ๐
Birth-day shrimp sounds like a WAY better song than what they play on the radio! ha.
Hibachi grills are the best aren’t they?!
yummy eats:) I’m very jealous of your hour long massage! It’s giving me idea’s for my birthday now!!:)
Super yummy looking food! The hour long massage sounds absolutely amazing.
I hope your run went well girl.. thanks for the baking help via twitter today, too!
of course!
Gina, your blog makes my day! It’s my favorite to read; you’re so cute!
why thank you! <3
Whoops, wrong website!
hi gina!
i think i told you this already, but i’ve become a big fan of fitnessista ever since i came over to read mama pea’s guest post…
i have a kind of random question… i’m getting back into working out after becoming pretty much a total couch potato. i’m currently doing the 20 minute interval workouts per “body for life”… but i want to start doing more running (mama pea and i have vows to run a 5k together in the spring)… so obviously the 20 minute interval workouts aren’t going to cut it if i’m training for runs longer than 20 minutes…
i have read the “couch to 5k” workouts online, but wondered what you might recommend b/c i also want to incorporate some weights, which those workouts didn’t really discuss??
thanks so much!
hey susan,
thanks so much for reading my little blog!
i think the couch to 5k program is awesome, but if you’re thinking about including some weights, check out the summer shape up plan (under the workout tab). you could follow one of those plans and then do your running plan as the cardio portion??
hope this helps a little!
xoxo
yay! so happy you had a wonderful SHRIMP filled dinner!! did I call it? or did I call it?! ๐
BIRTHDAY SHRIMP, it’s the best day of the…..
so funny
love you mamamamamamaa! ๐
