10/6: Meals and fitness for the week
Hi friends! Happy Sunday to ya. Hope you’re enjoying a beautiful and relaxing weekend.
Yesterday’s run was a tough one.
The good news is that I post-baby PRed (!!!!) but after our 10k time trial, I still had 4 miles to do. From here, my personal training plan gets a little different from the group’s -they’re running a half marathon the weekend after mine- and I have to shuffle some things. I made the mistake of stopping to chat with everyone for a few minutes after the 10k, but after stopping entirely, I had a hard time starting again. I did 3 more miles, at a slow pace, but it wasn’t a picnic. TGIRD? (Thank Goodness It’s Rest Day)
I have 3 more long runs before the race… fingers crossed for some good ones. (Ok, and maybe a rough one so I can get it out of the way before the actual race.)
Here’s what’s on the fitness plan for the rest of the week:
SUNDAY: Chill day. Taking a yoga inversion class!
MONDAY: Tempo run (10-30-10)
TUESDAY: Weights in the AM, live drum cardio class with Sasha at night (email me if you’re local and want the deets!)
WEDNESDAY: Teach Zumba, track workout
THURSDAY: Teach Zumba, teach DJ dance, lunchtime weights blitz (20 minutes, if I can squeeze it in my schedule)
FRIDAY: OFF
SATURDAY: Long run, teach World Beat, teach Zumba, teach Barre (<— my most intense day… there doesn’t seem to be enough food and coffee in the world)
(though I’m kind of crazy about the breakfast bomb + illy coffee combo)
On the menu:
Plan and prep:
Chop veggies, make new protein fudge, Paleo bread, hummus (for Oliv), berry chia pancakes
Dinners:
Fall rainbow salad
Minestrone soup + garlic bruschetta
Homemade veggie sushi rolls + house salads
What’s on the menu this week?
Any fun new fitness classes or upcoming events?
Something you’re looking forward to this week?
Hope you have a great day!
xoxo

Something to read: Check out my guest post for Premier Protein here, featuring my zucchini pizzas. It’s a favorite in our house– Liv loves them!
I’m looking forward to hopefully shaking this cold sometime soon — breathing through my nose would be quite the treat at this point 🙂
Have a great Sunday!
Would love to know where you teach Barre, if you don’t mind sharing. I moved this summer from Portland, OR, and miss my Barre3 studio.
Hi i have enjoyed trying all of your recipes & your tips on fitness.
I was just wondering what you made in the jar?
Thanks
It’s steel cut Gf oats, berries, protein powder and chia seeds 🙂
Wow my legs hurt just reading your Saturday plan !! Hope it’s all very fun :)!
wow, you have a jam-packed fitness agenda this week. good luck on the remainder of your half marathon training. you’re going to rock the actual race next month! =)
i was checking out that goat’s milk greek yogurt at whole foods the other day. i need to bite the bullet and try it soon!
I bought all the ingredients for that pasta salad you posted, so I’m making a batch of that this afternoon as well as some pumpkin bread. Good luck with your busy week!
What style of Garmin watch is that? It’s so cute!
It’s a forerunner 10- I love it
babe, I AM STILL SO PROUD OF YOU AND THAT PR! You go girl xoxoxoxox your cheer leader is proud over here 😉
I am always so inspired by these posts. I am getting better at meal planning, but not as good as you. I’ve been doing really well at pulling meats from the freezer and having carbs such as quinoa, potatoes, squash, etc. prepped and my veggies cut, but I don’t have EXACT meals planned, which I wish I did because I would try a lot of new recipes that way.
Yeah, if you stop to talk it’s very hard to get back in the swing of things. Good manners though!
Looks like you have a full week ahead of you. Those berry chia pancakes sound great.
Good luck at your race, keep us posted on how you do!
Jay
I bought the ingredients yesterday for your pasta salad. Excited to give it a try tomorrow or Tuesday.
Let me know what you think!
I have a strong belief that somedays there can never be enough coffee. I’ve never taken a barre class but I am curious–I think I will one day once I find someone to go with me hheh. Howeverrrr I did finally meal prep this afternoon and I’m so glad I did! Much less stress for the rest of the week. I’m going to try and make it a regular habit.
Where did you find that Illy coffee combo?!
I’ve found it at Whole Foods! It’s really good and there’s no sugar. So it’s just plain wicked coffee but that illy brand is really flavorful and robust. I like to add some vanilla stevia to it. It’s really good!
Whole foods! It’s amaaaazing, but like $3 for that tiny can :/
I don’t know how you make it through on those long Saturdays! You’re a fighter girl! Did u also teach 4 classes this Saturday as well? Also could you share your tempo workout that you’re doing tomorrow? And that inversion class sounds great! I was just thinking today how much I miss yoga and need it more in my life. I love those juicy inversions where you can just play for a while and stretch and strengthen your body. Have a great week girl!
i taught world beat and aqua zumba saturday- wasn’t too bad!
it’s 10 minutes easy, 20 hard, 10 easy
xo
Thanks for responding! I might give that a try. Lately I’ve just been doing steady state runs so I might add that in to shake things up.
Good run and pretty watch!
Wow, you teach so many classes! i can’t wait until this grad school business is over for me and i can get back into going to classes. this week i am hoping to squeeze in a few sessions of blogilates and maybe go to the gym a couple times… even just to use the sauna would be great.
Good luck with your training!! I just had my rough day yesterday but I am STILL feeling it today…I ended up subbing a Bodypump class yesterday so that means three Bodypump classes in a row for me AND my long run yesterday…I’m tired, I’m hungry, and nothing seems to satisfy either!!!
i love hearing about your workout and meal plans. i definitely try to plan my week ahead of time so i don’t have to worry about it.
i’m currently training for my first 5K, so fitting in training runs 3x a week has been a priority. hope your runs this week go well!
I LOVE the Mexican Polenta Pie. It’s a favorite in our house–The BF loves anything pork related!
When I do a long run I’m seriously pooped– I’m so impressed that you’re able to teach all those classes as well!
i’m not even sure how it happens haha
Wish I could transport myself from Canada to take a class with you! In the meantime, I’ll have to make due with the Solibeat dvd 😉
whoo hoo! 🙂
I’ve been loving stadium conditioning and cycle. I know they aren’t new classes, per say. However, they’re new-to-me and always kick my butt! 🙂
