Friday Faves
Lovebug feeding the ducks.
New study shows yoga has healing powers.
This letter from a working mom to a SAHM.
10 good reasons to save the A-10.
Pretty coffee.
(Word on the street is that you can get pretty coffee pretty much anywhere in SD. Any awesome spots?!)
Mister Rogers quotes to remember on bad days.
This jumpsuit! I ordered it yesterday with Shopbop’s sale (even though you needed to spend $250 to save, which I did not so kind of defeats the purpose…) but am hoping it fits. I love the fun print! Target also got my favorite summer sandals back in stock.
What a pilot says about turbulence. This nervous flyer is very thankful.
Elana’s book. I can’t wait to try some of the recipes, especially since I adore the ones I’ve tried from her blog.
Dunkin love. Oh man, I love some Dunkin 🙂
Hope you have a very happy Friday!
Any faves from the week?? Stay tuned for your March calendar! It will be posted (and emailed to subscribers) later today.
xoxo
Gina
I love dunkin too! It’s the best!
Who doesn’t love a good Mister Rogers quote? 🙂
Great shares! Especially love the Mr. Rogers quotes! We don’t have Dunkins here yet – we have Winchell’s and Krispy Kreme (but very few).
Happy Friday! I started the morning with the Winter Shape Up Week One workout. I love having these to go back to once a week or so. Everyone needs some HIIT in her life, right?
Thanks for the link to the article on turbulence. It’s good to have the reassurance of an expert when a bit nervous in the air. I’ll remember his input when I head over the ocean to Paris in a couple weeks.
amen to that! 🙂
have a blast in paris, too. amazing 🙂
There is just something about a pretty cup of coffee that just makes your day! I love when my barista takes the time. Definitely a Friday Fave.
I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to start seeing summer things in stores– even though it is only 20 degrees out today!
i’m so afraid to visit in a couple of weeks. i don’t even know how to live when it’s that cold haha
Don’t feel bad. I still have a hard time and I grew up here!
If you have time we should catch a class together! 🙂
yes! i have one tentatively planned for tues night. i’ll email you!
I love dunkin! So delicious! Now I want to go and get some.
Hope you have a great weekend and Happy Friday!
That dunkin love video pulled at my heartstrings. I’m in california and we still have a year before Dunkin moves in on the west coast.
we have a few here in tucson so hopefully it will be on the way soon!
I just laughed SO hard about “Dunkin” love. I can not breathe. HAHAHA!
right?! AMAZING haha
The only sad thing about San Diego (I live in Oceanside) is that there are no Dunkin Donuts! The only one is on base at Camp Pendleton 🙁
I stumbled upon that letter last week (working mom and SAHM), and it made my sob some serious ugly tears (while I was at work too…whoops). I have a 20-month-old daughter, I work a full-time job in the office, and my hubby runs his own biz that requires him to travel out of state the majority of each month. It’s tough. And those letters (BOTH) hit very close to home.
You’re in luck… Latte art must be a California thing, because it’s everywhere here!
right? i loved reading them, too. i think as mamas it’s so important to support each other, no matter how unique are personal situations may be. i relate to different pieces since i work from home, have worked outside of the home, and am also a stay at home mama (with a husband who works and is gone frequently). i tip my hat to all moms and dads. it’s hard work, but the best kind 🙂
Seriously! A good friend of mine is a SAHM, and just birthed twin boys making her a momma of 4 now. I admire her strength everyday managing that crew. I feel like I struggle with just 1 little sweetheart/monster 😉
My fave from the week is definitely the email I got from FitFluential last night letting me know I was accepted as an Ambassador! Woot! TGIF 🙂
congratulations! you will love it 🙂
If you are in SD, check out the Caffe Veloce (drive-thru) or Java Earth Café. These two were my go-to spots when I lived there.
i definitely will! thank you 🙂
ohhhhhh little Liv <3 <3 <3 <3 always a Friday fav!
happy friday, pretty! xo
thanks! same to you love 🙂
p.s. i thought of you today while practicing hand stand push ups today at the gym hehe <3
haha YES. you better video that ish when you get it down!
will do 😉 hope to do some push ups with you some day!! <3
Liv’s hair is getting so long!!
Love Mr. Rogers <3
TGIF! Have a great weekend!
I didn’t realize there was Dunkin’ in the west! It’s a Massachusetts-based company and the joke around here is that you can’t go a mile without seeing one. Well, seeing how there are three–yes, three!–Dunkin’s less than a mile from my house, that’s probably true. I’m actually more of a Starbucks fan. I’ll hit up Dunks for a half coffee/half hot chocolate (the full hot chocolate is incredibly buttery!), but that’s about it. It has a weird metallic taste to me. Like there are pennies at the bottom of the cup.
omg i LOVE dunkin coffee. with a chocolate munchkin = perfection
I DO miss the Munchkins (I’m gluten intolerant). Everyone here is about the coffee, though, not the food. That’s why Krispy Kream failed miserable in Massachusetts! Oh, I will say that I do down the iced coffee in the summer. They know how to properly double brew!
the iced coffee is glorious!
P.S. Looking forward to the March calendar! I’m going to have plenty of new goals, between you and Caitlin @ HTP and her Ironman March workout!
:)!
Simply the fact that it’s FRIDAY is always a Friday Fave over here, but more importantly, far away sisters flying home for a week of vacation… The biggest fave ever 😀
that makes my heart so happy for you. have a blast!!
Thank you so much. I hope you have a wonderful family filled weekend 🙂
I just booked a trip to San Diego at the end of March for spring break and I’m so excited! It’ll be my first time there and I can’t wait to get away for a few days and enjoy some sun, shopping, food, and apparently, cute coffee!
whoo hoo! have a blast 🙂 there are some awesome fitness classes to check out
I’m all ears for any recommendations you might have 🙂
Loved the pix of your little girl and the ducks. I have chickens and ducks (not for eating-only for eggs) and enjoy them very much 🙂
i’m hoping to have a chicken coop in san diego! we’d love to have chickens for eggs (and pets) 🙂
I also love the fact that there is a tortouise/terrapin in the water in the second one. We don’t get that in the UK. Happy (early) Saturday morning :0)
Those letters to SAHM and Working Moms were so sweet. Plus Livi feeding the ducks is pretty good!
You’ve gotta try Bird Rock Coffee. It’s in Bird Rock which is a neighborhood in La Jolla. The best! Pannikin (also LJ) is great and so is Better Buzz Coffee in PB (and it’s close to my favorite barre studio, Barre Bodies!)
happening x 3 🙂
Awesome! Olivia is getting soo big!
Are you aware there Is no dunkins in so cal? Worst thing about living in San Diego
i know 🙁
There’s a Dunkin Donuts opening up in the Embassy Suites near Seaport Village in March!
Oh yessss it is 2014 now!! Also Gina, there is one at the camp pendlelton base that is nice for an occasional trip.
Here is a list of 22 San Diego musts my friend Archana compiled: http://mysocaldlife.com/22-san-diego-musts-food-coffee-the-outdoors/.
Her fave coffee (and she knows her stuff!) is Bird Rock Roasters, Cafe Calabria, and Coffee and Tea Collective. You’re going to love it here 🙂
I was in SD over a year ago, and found amazing coffee at Cafe Virtuoso (1616 National Ave, San Diego, CA 92113) I had to take a bus there but it was well worth it!
i’ll definitely try it!
I love the 37 life lessons. Really wish I could stop trying to be perfect in every way and just be ok with things being mumbled jumbled or not tied with a pretty bow.
I wish I could pull off a jumpsuit like that — so pretty! I bet it will look lovely on you 🙂
Happy Friday!
Oh myyyy~ Thanks so much for sharing that SAHM mom letter article! It almost brought me to tears because it was so encouraging and enlightening. Go moms! 😀 And I want that coffee righhhhhttt now.
Absolutely go to Cafe Calabria (North Park neighborhood) for thee perfect cup of coffee then walk one block south and browse at the store named Pigment. Or Cafe Chloe (downtown) for brunch, coffee or a glass of wine. You’re going to love living in San Diego!
you guys are making me even more excited!
Happy weekend!! Off topic but I think you recommended some socks on your blog once for long distance running. Or did I dream that up? I can’t seem to find the post and I’m needing some badly. Thanks! !
YES! these: http://bit.ly/1pFUak3
the best 🙂
Awesome coffee? Extraordinary Desserts!!!!! Amazing stuff there! Love, love!
North County San Diego coffee addict rundown:
La Jolla: BRICK N BELL<3, Coffee Cup
Bird Rock: um, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. The best brew, the nicest people.
Del Mar: Jimbo's in a pinch, super nice staff, but if you can, go to Pannikin
Solana Beach: Java Depot, Solana Beach Coffee Company, Java Hut
Leucadia: Sugar (this might be bordering Encinitas)
Encinitas: Pannikin, Lofty Coffee Co.
I'm gluten-intolerant (as in body will flip out completely if I eat a crumb) and most of these places have great gf options if you're looking for a treat.
I love Livis striped pants! Feeding the ducks used to be my favorite thing to do when I was little. One time I got overexcited and leaned in too far and fell in the water. My grandpa was right there to get me, but I apparently fell on a duck. Poor thing. 🙁
Pretty coffee definitely tastes better! Not a fan of Dunkin’, though. Their iced coffee is terrible!
The last time I was in La Jolla, they really only had Starbucks for a coffee shop, which I thought was weird since here in the Bay Area there are independents everywhere and definitely more than one coffee shop per town. Maybe things have changed now, though, because that was a couple of years ago. Too long–time to go back!
My faves this week (as mentioned in my post) are: Pilates, I’m Fit Possible, Swinging with my girl, Stitch Fix and romanesco cauliflower.
Happy Friday! 🙂
that Dunkin Love video is HILARIOUS!
Coffee love = Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. Let me know if you ever want to get a cup!
I need to pick that book! I love her almond flour cookbook.
Oh my goodness… your little girl is getting so tall! Wasn’t she just a baby yesterday? 🙂
Thanks for the link on turbulence, from one nervous flyer to another!
LMAO at Dunkin Love. I may have to repost it on my blog!
ps. your little girl is growing up so fast! i am marveling at how long her hair has gotten!
Love seeing your daughter feeding the ducks. Adorable!
Will you be doing a March goals list like you did for February? Along with the working out I loved working on myself emotionally with the list you had made.
Thanks!
I was just thinking today that I was going to go back through the November calendar. Now, I won’t have to! So excited for the March calendar :)!!!
March calendar!!! Yes!
I’ve been living in San Diego for the last 5 years (I’m an east coast transplant) and I’d have to say top 3 places to get coffee in the city are :
1) cafe calabria for a caffee vienese (espresso, milk, honey and cinnamon) so good
2) influx in little Italy before or after the Sunday farmers market
3) coffee and tea collective for great tasting pour over coffee with a cool modern vibe/ atmosphere.
so excited for your move! I know it’s stressful going into an unknown- but San Diego is such a fun and welcoming city with so much to do! also not sure if you are still searching neighborhoods to live in but ‘south park’ is my dream neighborhood. lots of young families and thriving small businesses. best of luck to you in your search!
awesome- thank yo uso muhc!!
