Avocado Chocolate Chia Pudding + Healthy Late-Night Desserts for One
This chocolate avocado chia pudding is the perfect dessert for one. It’s a sweet treat that you can feel good about!
Last night’s Zumba class was CRAZYAWESOME. I could tell there were a few professional dancers in class (and had a lot of fun shaking with them), and turns out that they’re part of the Disney show that’s in town. I’m taking Liv, and I can’t wait for her to wake up so I can tell her about the characters I Zumba-ed with last night. She’ll get a kick out of it, and still doesn’t know we’re going to the Disney show. I’m excited to surprise her <3
When I got home, a glass of wine was waiting, along with dessert….
Chocolate Avocado Chia Pudding
I’m a huge fan of single serving desserts and a little bite of something sweet before bed. Occasionally (like for Monday night date night) I go all out, but for a more regular basis, I stick to healthier options. While I love the refined sugar stuff just as much as anyone, and am a bit of a cookie monster, I don’t sleep well after a night of indulgent sweets. This chocolate avocado chia pudding is a combo of two of my favorite healthy desserts: choco-cado pudding and chia pudding!
I had all of the ingredients on hand; just chia seeds, avocado, cocoa powder, maple syrup, cinnamon and almond milk.
Chia seeds give an awesome boost of nutrition, plus they’re extremely hydrating as they soak up liquid and help to lubricate eyes and joints, and also give a beautiful thick texture.
Blended up in the food processor and served with some chopped walnuts and a sprinkle of coconut. Goji berries would be fantastic on top, too!
Here’s the recipe if you’d like to give it a try!
PrintChocolate Avocado Chia Pudding
A raw, vegan and gluten-free dessert with no refined sugar! Decadent, quick and delicious.

- 2. Can serve immediately, or set in the fridge to chill (and for the chia to set) about 10 minutes.

Other quick and healthy desserts for one:
This protein muffin
(with a smear of peanut butter as big as the muffin itself + drizzle of honey. I had this a couple of nights ago!)
Baked apple: microwaved chopped apple topped with cinnamon and a tablespoon of chocolate chips
Double chocolate protein muffin
Do you like a bite of something sweet before bed? What’s your favorite single-serving dessert option? I also like to freeze portions of desserts in the freezer, like these cashew brownie bites or some almond butter cookies to easily grab when I want a little treat.
Hope you have a happy Thursday!
xoxo

Yum!!! I love single serving desserts. (I can’t be trusted around a huge batch of chocolate chip cookies… haha) These look awesome! I’m bookmarking that double chocolate protein muffin!
fresh out of the oven… the best
Perfect for this preggo who has been loving a little sweet after dinner. Yum!
:)! baby will like it too <3
Hooray for healthy fats! I love chia pudding but took SO long to finally jump on the bandwagon. Not sure why! My favourite single-serve dessert right now is a high-protein pumpkin ‘pudding’, sort of like your single serve pumpkin pies. The recipe is basically just pumpkin, Greek yogurt, some protein powder, pumpkin pie spice, and a bit of stevia. Mix it all up and it’s done (or freeze it for really tasty pro-yo!)
that sounds amazing!
ohh sounds so good! i do a similar thing but its more of aa flavored yogurt. do you have some measurements to make yours?!
Yum!!! I have all the ingredients for this chia pudding so i’ll be making that tonight 🙂
I’m a huge one-serving dessert person…my go-tos are either my 1 minute paleo chocolate chip mug cookie or just putting a coconut greek yogurt in the freezer for 10-15 minutes and topping it with chocolate chips!
let me know what you think!! i’m off to look at that cookie recipe…
Wow the ingredient list is amazing. I have all this stuff in my fridge and have been looking for a new treat that I won’t feel too guilty indulging in. I love single seve treats as well they help keep portions in control and honestly that small serving is all I need to be satisfied (I’m known to be part of the clean plate club – and would keep eating otherwise). Thanks for sharing this looks like a go to recipe!
of course! let me know what you think 🙂
I love that dish towel you used in the photos!! So pretty! Where is it from?
thank you! world market
Yay I have the ingredients! Looks like I’m making this for dessert later! 🙂
yay let me know how it turned out!
Oh man!! That looks fantastic!! It’s looking like a good day for a fun little treat… 😉
Ahh so glad for this recipe. The juice place by me has amazing chocolate coconut chia pudding but it’s 9 bucks a serving. 🙂 This seems easier on my wallet!
AHHH! yes, much more budget-friendly 🙂
This looks SO delicious! Thanks for sharing!
Yes! I’m a sweets monster almost all of the time!
That sounds delicious! First of all, I can always spot a fellow instructor in my classes, just like you can spot a professional dancer in your Zumba class. What fun! I do love dessert, but try to limit big desserts to the weekends. Every week night after dinner I have some almond milk as a little finisher for my taste-buds and sometimes I heat it up for a little extra something!
Would this keep well in the fridge for a couple of days? If I’m lugging out the food processor I might want to make more than one serving 🙂 Thanks! This sounds delicious
Yes! I love Skinny Cow, Chobani indulgences and a good old handful of dark chocolate chunks!
Yum! The chocolate avocado pudding looks so simple and delicious! I’ve pinned it to try out later. 🙂
let me know what you think!
This looks incredible! And don’t even get me going on that pumpkin cheesecake. YUM! <3
So cool that you had Disney cast members in your zumba crew! Can’t wait to hear about Liv’s reaction to the surprise.
I’m all about the desserts. Aaaalll about them. But single serving recipes are probably something I should consider since portion control is not exactly my most gifted area. 😉
Love that dishtowel/napkin, by the way!
same! i realized i was just used to eating MORE instead of really enjoying it though
thank you! world market FTW
Mhmmm love how easy, yet delicious this looks! I always have a bite of something sweet before I go to bed since it helps satisfy my nighttime munchies :). This looks perfect!
This recipe looks so tasty! I don’t have dessert most week nights but when a craving hits, it hits big time. I’m going to have to try this one as an easy fix for a sweet tooth that doesn’t involve a dozen chocolate chip cookies!
I’m pretty obsessed with a little something sweet before bed (TWSS?? lol). I made the chocolate mug cake once and the husband had to take a picture of it.
Lately I’ve been loving these bars from Trader Joe’s that are just two ingredients…apple and some other kind of fruit (mango, strawberry, banana, or coconut). The bars are literally just the two ingredients and are only 90 calories. I’ll have half of one when I get a late night sweet tooth craving. Even if I have the whole thing I don’t feel bad since it’s a healthy snack. There are a few brands of these kinds of bars but my favorites are TJ & the “That’s It!” brands.
heh heh we all love a little something sweet before bed 😉
i haven’t seen those bars yet! will need to pick some up 🙂
I love single serving desserts and I definitely want to try this chia pudding! Chocolate avocado pudding is by far one of my favorite things!
me too! so healthy and decadent 🙂
I cannot believe you posted this. I just made this exact recipe last weekend for a post. Crazy ironic!!!
i don’t think we’re the first haha 😉
Oh my goodness, this sounds amazing, I will have to try it out!
xx Kelly
Sparkles and Shoes
What I liked to do before is take avocado pudding, mash some purple potatoes eiyhbit and bake it and make it a brownie!
I’ve been known to eat a big spoonful of chocolate Nuttzo after dinner…yum!
This looks great! Going to have to give it a try.
let me know if you do!
I’ve loved Deb’s microwave muffin for years and have played around with my own versions, too. I also like to freeze a container of greek yogurt and eat it like ice cream!
i’ve wanted a new chia pudding recipe to try!
let me know if you give it a try!
LOVE this post. I am always looking to top off my dinner but never know what to grab! AKA I grab 1 of everything in sight and eat enough to feed a family of 5…the struggle is real.
Also really impressed you got the pudding into the glass without it all over the sides. My pictures would look a lot prettier if I had your mad skill.
haha it’s not skill. it’s wetting a paper towel and rubbing the smears off dishes for photos 🙂 i always make a mess
i feel ya haha
Awe yummy! I have these ingredients. I’m making this tonight. I actually eat a banana with caco nibs, PB, greek yogurt, and a little honey before I go to bed. It hits the spot every time.
that sounds wonderful!
This looks awesome – really creative and fun, too! I love frozen greek yogurt for dessert, especially peach or mango! Diana’s Banana Babies (frozen bananas dipped in chocolate) are delicious too. 😀
ahhh those are so good!
Do you think this would be ok (still flavorful and yummy) without the cinnamon? I’m one of the unfortunate people who is allergic (sad trombone) 🙁
totally! add some vanilla and you should be bueno 🙂
you are allergic to cinnamon? oh my. i am so sorry. i carry cinnamon around in my purse haha i LOVE it
I’m sorta meh on chia, how do you think ground flax seed would do in this? Though maybe I should try it with chia as I’ve got a large, largely full, bag in the cabinet…
i’m not sure if the texture would be as good with the flax!
Looks delicious!
Looks super good!!
Love chia pudding for an evening snack because it fills me up so I won’t be in the cupboards looking for the next thing. I just shared a similar recipe but I used coconut cream instead of avocado. Love that healthy fat.
i have been making that protein muffin since you first posted it. it’s always a winner! i like to top mine with raspberries and melt some biscoff spread and pour it on top.
Thanks for the reminder of the pumpkin cheesecake. So excited, got to buy my first stash of pumpkin a couple days ago. I saw it a few weeks ago but I know the hubs would have given me the crazy lady look if I started making pumpkin stuff in August!
I will definitely be making this! I get late-night munchies all the time and really want to satisfy the craving/hunger but not with junk.
I love the protein muffin and have since you introduced it years ago. Think there would be a good translation to muffins and making a large batch at a time verse one at a time? Trying to store up some yummy snacks for when baby gets here. Just seems like that would be a whole lotta egg for a large batch 🙁
I made this last night, soo good! I almost caved and swung by the store for some ice-cream post dog park, and I’m so glad I didn’t!
Thank you for yet another awesome snack!
happy you enjoyed it!!
DAAAANG That looks good! I love single servings also!
Hello! These look amazing, BUT… can you taste the avocado?
I looooooove avocado as a savoury, but when made in to sweet dishes I sometimes find it all a bit weird. Will try asap if not!
This looks great! I will have to try…I always crave something sweet in the evenings! So funny….I was out of the office so didn’t get a chance to read this post but I thought I saw you and your family at Disney Live. I didn’t want to be a stalker and run after you to say hello….plus I was chasing my own toddler around! Hope you all enjoyed it….my little one did! 🙂
Anytime I can make a dessert a healthy option, it’s a good thing! My sweet tooth won’t ruin my body with great recipes like these! Can’t wait to try!
this is one of my fav snacks Gina 😀
me tooooooooo
I have texture issues so i wasnt sure if i could do this but i put fruit in with it and i was pleasantly surprised. I did have to blend the seeds to death to get it smooth and add more milk and sweetener. I think adding almonds or nuts of some sort will help me to eat it better also but trying to branch out with my foods! I need to the fiber!
