A night with Vies

Hiiiii 😀 Happy [Superbowl] Sunday 😀 Still have no idea who’s playing today, but I know there will be snacks and that Glee is on, so that’s all that matters 😉

My night was spent like this:

vies3 vies2

It was SO so good to hang out with the Viessy and the amazing family who adopted her. When she saw me, she cried, leapt into the air and kissed me on the mouth. Vies is so happy and looks beautiful- her fur was full and shiny, and she had a silly grin on her face all night. She loved the attention from everyone (my brother was over there, along with his girlfriend’s family). It was amazing to scratch her belly and get slobbery kisses and puppy hugs from her. As I drove home and was talking to the Pilot, I told him I would feel guilty taking Vies home with me because she’s so happy with her new family. It’s like she’s been with them all along 🙂

Here’s a pic of the black bean spaghetti for those of you who were interested:

spaghetti

You can find it at Whole Paycheck (aka Whole Foods) in the Asian/ethnic aisle. It’s not by the regular pasta, which makes it a little tricky to find. It’s worth the hunt for 20g of protein, though! 😀

This morning, I had a quick breakfast:

quinoa

Pumpkin Breakfast Quinoa

-mix of red and reg quinoa

-1/2 C organic pumpkin

-1 scoop nasty Dr protein + 1 scoop delicious Sun Warrior

-almond milk and cinnamon

I’m off to a photo shoot and then meeting up with the fam!
Are you cooking for Superbowl Sunday? What’s on the menu?

See ya later today!
xoxo

Gina

So glad she is doing well with her new family! And that she let you leave and didn’t give you a hard time and try to leave with you! And of course she was happy to see you!!

Have a great Superbowl Sunday! FYI…the PACKERS and the Steelers are playing! And i don’t follow sports much at all!

  2. Maria on February 6, 2011 at 11:07 am

Packers and Steelers in the Super Bowl!! GO Pack 🙂 I’m glad the pup is happy at her new house, that would be very difficult for me.

  3. Emma (Sweet Tooth Runner) on February 6, 2011 at 11:08 am

  7. Amelia on February 6, 2011 at 11:18 am

Vies does look very happy! Thank you for sharing pictures of Bella and Vies. While it makes me miss my sweet little Chihuahua that passed away last August, it still warms my heart to see their smiling faces. 🙂

I am debating back and forth between a high protein spinach dip, homemade pizza, or tofu kale lasagna. Not all really “game” foods but they sound good! Go Steelers! 🙂

  8. Katie on February 6, 2011 at 11:19 am

oh this is too sweet! I LOVE the pic of you and Vies! Reading how happy she was to you made my heart melt, I am so glad you get to see her still and the family loves her and she is happy!!!

You’re right!!!! Viesa looks like she’s doing so well!! 🙂

I know this is silly but I have a puppy I adore so I can empathize with what you went through with Viessy. This post made me happy! 🙂

BTW what is the texture of the pasta like?

  13. Natalia - a side of simple on February 6, 2011 at 11:53 am

Viesa is absolutely adorable. How could her new family NOT love her? I’m glad they’re doing good and that she remembers you 🙂 What kind of dog is she, by the way? Have a great Sunday with the family later!

Oh Viesa is so sweet. I’m glad she is happy with her new family.

We’re not doing anything special for the Super Bowl today — we’re having burritos for lunch (kind of a super bowl food, right?) and I’m sure we’ll have some chips/salsa/guac during the game!

  17. A Teenage Gourmet on February 6, 2011 at 12:35 pm

I bought some local cheese yesterday. I’m going to make a cheese/veggie/cracker tray for my family today. 🙂

  18. Mara @ What's For Dinner? on February 6, 2011 at 12:43 pm

LOVE the pics of Vies! She looks so happy 🙂 I think Adam would be ticked if I tried to serve him that pasta, though it might be worth a shot. I’m always looking for more protein sources!

  19. Melissa on February 6, 2011 at 12:44 pm

That first picture of you and Vies is beautiful! You should frame it!!! Your posts with the black bean spaghetti have been sparking my interest, thanks for letting us know where you get it! Next time I go there, I’m definitely looking it up!

  20. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on February 6, 2011 at 12:44 pm

That is so sweet that Vies cried when she saw you. I am watching the super bowl but not cooking a thing! I’m headed over to a friends house for a party. I do know who is playing, but I honestly don’t care who wins. I just want a good game and fun with my friends!

  22. Amanda- The Nutritionist Reviews on February 6, 2011 at 12:48 pm

  25. megan B on February 6, 2011 at 1:01 pm

We are hosting a little party but we don’t really care about football, we’re doing it for the fun with friends and commercials. Peanut butter oatmeal cookies, chipotle sliders, the Pioneer Woman’s chicken strips and a huge veggie tray are on the menu.

  26. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on February 6, 2011 at 1:04 pm

Viesa is so beautiful! I’m actually not doing anything for the superbowl… I’ll probably be studying all day.

  27. Gina on February 6, 2011 at 1:13 pm

I’ll be watching the Superbowl & doing homework 🙁

Awww, that makes me happy and sad at the same time, we had to give up one of our dogs about 6 months ago for the same kind of reasons, it was one of the hardest things EVER! So glad VIesa has a great family now 🙂

I made white sangria for the Super Bowl, not sure what else is on the menu, probably something on the grill, but not too concerned about it as long as there’s sangria in my glass 😀

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2011 at 12:21 am

      that sangria sounds AMAZING

  31. Amanda on February 6, 2011 at 1:29 pm

Vies is a gorgeous dog!!! She looks so happy too, thats reassuring. It’s nice to find out that a pet you had to give away is truly happy with their new family.

Those noodles look interesting, I’d try it! But for some reason I thought you made them with a special bean spiralizer, j/k.

  32. mary (whats cookin with mary) on February 6, 2011 at 1:33 pm

awwwww vies was so happy to see you 😀 sooo cool that you can go visit her!

I was planning on making a few things for game day, but my SI joint is telling me I can’t :l BOO!

those bb noodles sound like something I need to try! will have to run by WF this week

  33. Andrea on February 6, 2011 at 1:36 pm

Vies looks so full of joy. I bet it made your heart so happy to see her!!

  35. Cameo on February 6, 2011 at 1:51 pm

YUM! I cooked my quinoa in almond milk with cinnamon and it was delicious. But PUMPKIN would have been an amazing addition, thanks for the idea. As for the s-bowl, don’t care but am sort of being forced to watch since my boyfriend is a big Packer’s fan.

  36. Jessica @ Jessica Balances on February 6, 2011 at 1:52 pm

So glad you got to see Viesa last night! 🙂 how wonderful that she is doing so well!

  37. Amy on February 6, 2011 at 1:59 pm

I haven’t been able to find the black bean spaghetti at any of the WF locations near me, and I look every time I go! Surprisingly, I was able to find it when I lived overseas in a small town, but not in the US in a super veg-friendly area. 🙁

  38. chelsey @ clean eating chelsey on February 6, 2011 at 1:59 pm

We are making mexican bowls tonight: cilantro lime rice, black beans, fajita veggies, meat (for the Husband), and all kind of toppings!

  39. Ashley @ the fit academic on February 6, 2011 at 2:01 pm

Awww so glad that she’s settled into her new home nicely! I had a similar situation with a dog a few years back & now when I see him with his new family I feel exactly the same – like he just belongs there! Glad she’s happy!

    Your dog is so cute!

  41. Kristin (Cook, Bake, Nibble) on February 6, 2011 at 2:25 pm

My husband and I are having a quiet (well, sort of quiet… haha) Superbowl night here at home. I’m cooking up a whole vegan feast: roasted chickpeas, refried bean dip with organic salsa and tofu sour cream, and buffalo tempeh bites. Oh and lots of organic beer 😀 I’m excited!

  42. Carolyn on February 6, 2011 at 2:39 pm

Aw Vies is such a pretty girl. I got a lump in my throat when I read the part of it seeming like she’s always been at her new home. So happy her college family is treating her well.

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2011 at 12:19 am

me too, girl. it worked out in the best way possible

  43. ashmastandrea on February 6, 2011 at 2:41 pm

So happy to hear things worked out! They usually do! 🙂

Does the black bean pasta have a very strong bean taste? How have you used it? Looks like you can go Asian with it…Would it be good with cilantro, lime and Mexican spices, too?!

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2011 at 12:19 am

yup it would be good with pretty much anything <3

  44. Melody on February 6, 2011 at 3:08 pm

And it brings happy tears to my eyes to know that Viessa is soo happy with her new family and that you are happy seeing her there and that you are in such a good place with it all. I am sooo happy for you all that everything worked out with such a happy ending 🙂

And no, not cooking. I’m going to the mall 🙂

  46. Leslie on February 6, 2011 at 3:44 pm

So happy you got to see your sweet doggy!

I can’t believe the black bean pasta has 20g protein???? WHOA. Must look for that one next time. Thanks for the heads up.

Along with some classics for the game I am having YOUR beet carrot bean patties- tested last night and LOVE! I thank you for introducing me to some great healthy choices (like snobby joes!) have a great day.

  48. Lisa on February 6, 2011 at 3:54 pm

Aaw cute pics. How did she & Bella react to one another? We’re having sliders on the grill since it’s sunny & 60, southern caviar w/ blue corn tortillas, veggie tray w/ dip, & cupcakes w/ football rings. We’re excited about Glee too.

    • Fitnessista on February 7, 2011 at 12:18 am
