Back to Normal
Heyyyyy How are ya? Hope you’re having a lovely Sunday! Happy Boxing Day to my Canadian friends and hurray for day-after-Christmas shopping extravaganzas.
After my massive Christmas sugar coma, it felt good to get back to normal this morning with some Sun Warrior coffee (Via) oats:
(for the record: blueberries taste AMAZING with coffee)
I think an opportunity with the holiday season is that it’s easy to celebrate everyday with treats. It works pretty well for me to live it up on the actual holiday but get back to the usual routine the next day.
It was lovely to be surrounded by veggies and it was a beautiful morning at the farmer’s market.
Lots of fresh local, homemade delights
Squashes and veg
Meats and cheese
Soaps and lotions
Emu oil (I’ve been using this as a night moisturizer for the past month and LOVE it)
The goods:
Mesquite flour tortillas, vegan tamales with black beans, tomatoes and chilies, and fresh tomatoes
I’m off to run some errands and hit up the gym
Hope you’re having an amazing day <3
xoxo
Gina
Something to talk about: Now that the bulk of the holidays are over and New Years is approaching, it’s a fun time to reflect on our accomplishments from this past year. What did you do in 2010 that you’re the most proud of??
You ask a good question, but I have no idea what I’m most proud of! Oh, I know, that I finally decided what I want my niche to be in life coaching! Health and wellness! For a long time I was coaching on career changes and relationships, which was fun, but not quite the right fit for me. Felt good to acknowledge I wanted to do something different.
I think I’m most proud of running my two halves!! And on a more personal level, I’m learning to stress less, which is a constant goal for me 🙂
This year, I got married & I lost close to 60 pounds… It’s been a great year for me. I hope 2011 is half as good as 2010 was!
Wonderful that this is normal! Glad the weather is holding up in Fla
So funny to see people in short sleeve t’s. In Virginia right now we have about 10 inches of snow and it’s still coming 🙂 Most proud of eating clean most of the time and always sticking to my workouts.
I’m gonna get my hands on some via in the very near future – that combo sounds amazing. I LOOOOOVE blueberry iced coffee so I’m sure I’d also be a fan of this. 🙂 Side note: To make a quick (and natural) blueberry iced coffee. I let some frozen blueberries thaw overnight then mash em up (or blend them) and add to ice coffee. SO GOOD! I wonder if it would also be good in hot coffee?
Hmmm, most proud of…I’d have to say leaving my PhD program (3 years in) because I was unbelievably unhappy and pursuing a degree in clinical medicine instead. It was a hard move (I had a fully-funded NIH grant for my 5-yr program) but I was SO unhappy. But now that it’s all said and done, I love what I’m doing an excited to start med school in the fall.
Can’t wait to hear what you’re most proud of 🙂
Graduate college! 😀
Hehe, emu oil isn’t very vege/pesca-tarian!
i think it is- it doesn’t involve any flesh from the emu. it’s the oil from their feathers
Love the Sun Warr + Coffee + Bloobs combo! Yum, I want that…NOW!
Love the GF market finds, the fresh produce, the pretty pictures..lovely!
What did I do that I am most proud of? Helped shape and mold my child into the person she is today. Every day showing her love, care, attention, and helping her blossom into the beautiful person she is and planting seeds for her future 🙂
Enjoy what’s left of your holiday weekend and so glad it was a winner for you 🙂
I may be immature but I laughed at “bloobs”!
emu oil? as in fat from the bird? where are you using it?
I’m so intrigued since you don’t eat meat…
it’s the oil from their feathers- no harm is done to the emu, they’re just rubbed with a towel to get the oil.
Actually, this isn’t quite true. Emu oil is made from melted/processed emu fat, which is taken from the bird directly. Emu’s ARE harmed in this process – the bird is actually used for a lot of purposes, such as the meat itself – but there is no way to get oil from the emu without it dying.
you’re right. so weird, because when my mom gave it to me, i researched it and saw an article about how it was toweled off the feathers. 🙁 i feel horrible but am thankful to the emu for totally helping my skin. it was really broken out when i got here
Ohh it looks so sunny and warm! Here in Scotland its minus something and the pavements are like ice rinks! Eaks.
This year I went to NYC all by myself and graduated from University 🙂
What a fun day you’ve had thus far. I, too, am trying to get back in the swing of things in lieu of my usual healthy eating, exercising and overall routine 🙂 Love the holidays, but there’s only so much I can take! 🙂
double yeah for day after christmas shopping ; )
I have been enjoying my sunwarrior in my oats and smoothies , my sunwarrior came form the open sky promo on christmas eve, I think the fedex man thought the package was worth a million dollars when he saw how excited I was, lol! I was out of my sunwarrior and it was the best christmas present ever!
Happy Sunday! Thanks again for the lululemon sizing info!
I am most proud of the changes I have made in 2010-including moving across the country alone, trying and getting hooked on a new workout, and putting my feelings out there for others more.
Which farmers market is this? I’m still exploring my new surroundings and that gaint GF table at the market is calling to me…
I’m ready to get back to normal eating. No more cookies for breakfast. 🙂
The thing I’m most proud of is enrolling in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. In 2011 I’ll be graduating as an Holistic Health Counselor which!!
I am most proud of going back to school. Next year by this time I’ll be a licensed massage therapist and I can’t wait to start that new chapter of my life!
oops- obviously didn’t mean to have “which” after counselor.
tee hee…I saw that and was wondering why you did that?
I thought you were trying to say that you were now
some kind of holistic witch! 🙂
Starting grad school! and starting this blog..which occurred two days ago, i hope i can keep it up haha 🙂
It is nice to get back to normal. My biggest accomplishment this year was starting running, and doing my first half-marathon.
i totally agree about blueberries and coffee! that farmer’s market looks like a blast! i’m proud of starting my blog and of breaking a lot of chains that held me back with the help of the Lord and those around me who care enough to step in when i needed it.
I’m so jealous of the farmers’ market you went to…it’s so cold where I am right now! I think I’m most proud of graduating college!
I’m most proud of basically turning my life around.
This time last year, I was kind of a mental/physical/emotional/financial mess. I made some tough (but turned-out-to-be-right) decisions, set my mind to changing things for the better, and ended up landing a sweet job, getting healthy, and leading a genuinely happy life.
Great question, Gina. Let’s hear your answer. 😉
Looks like a lovely day of greens and veg! 🙂 I’m the most proud of the fact that I co-directed ‘Romeo and Juliet’ with one of my besties – and I was Juliet! The whole thing was a homeschool production, so we did EVERYTHING ourselves. Some people said we couldn’t tackle a tragedy, and we did. 😀
This year I earned my wings and finished up flight school with the exception of one test Jan 3rd! Lol! Yeah! Other than that I have made an effort to be kind to everyone and to give more compliments.
whoo hoo!
I lost 60 more lbs, bringing my total loss to 110 🙂 I’m pretty proud of that.
i’m proud of you too <3
Most definitely the proudest of driving to Michigan from Oregon and going to grad school! It has been quite the wild ride.
I love all the tamales you are eating lately! Makes me want to learn how to make them properly so I can have them at home too.
I am jealous of the awesome farmers market! This year I ran my first 10K after only a month of training and without any injuries, won a spot in the Cherry Blossom 10M in April of next year, and finished grad school in Dec!
I ran my first marathon this year!
I am most proud of running my fastest race time, starting my blog (1 week ago) and choosing a healthier life style in every aspect!
I also find it easier to snap out of the sweet addiction when holidays are over. By then I’ve baked and eaten enough to last me an entire year…So it all evens out 🙂
I am most proud of the fact that this past year I’ve lost 40 more pounds. Boo yah!
boo yah is right! amazing
I quit a job with a horrible boss that was making me an angry, miserable person- interviewed out of state, and will be moving to NC in January to start a (hopefully) great new job. Now if I can only get myself and my dog moved and settled without having a nervous breakdown… and convince my mom that it’s not the end of the world…life will be great. 😉
As much as I love shopping, not sure I could face anymore of it for awhile! 🙂
Good question for 2010, I achieved some pretty big fitness goals with completing my first half marathon and many other races. Also gained more clarity on my career, hobbies and passions.
merry christmas! 2010 has been a mix of trials and sweet blessings 🙂
I raised $3500 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and got to run my first marathon! And then had the crazy idea to do it all over again (in progress).
Graduating highschool with honors, living on my own and attending college! 🙂
I graduate with my bachelors degree with a double major from Georgia State Uni and moved immediately to Alaska with my love of 6 years… definitely been one of the most thrilling years of my life! 🙂
Ah, the farmer’s market is such a wonderful way to spend a day! It sounds like you have wonderful adventures ahead of you (or I suppose now they’ve happened but there are always more to come). I use emu oil, too. My mom first had it recommended to her by a holistic doctor. It cures burns, heals cuts, and gets rid of scares amazingly! I even put it on areas where my muscles feel tight. (Oh, and it works wonders on acne. It seems counterproductive, but trust me, I’m a teenager so I was willing to try everything.)
Have a lovely day!
xox
that’s why i started using it- when i got here from orlando, my skin was a hot mess. my mom gave me a jar and my skin was back to normal within a couple of days!
I hear ya about that sugar coma!! I feel like a blob right now with all the stuff I ate! I definitely need to bounce back this week!!
The thing I’m most proud of this year… getting married in October! I’m adjusting to all the changes of having a new hubby and I love it all!
This year I applied to go back to university in the fall. I have completed one degree, but have decided to take on another..
crossing my fingers that I will get accepted.
Aww, I’m happy that you had a good Christmas with the fam! This year has been such a transitional year. I am most proud of the fact that I am happy with myself and went from being unemployed to working 3 jobs. I changed my career from graphic design to health and nutrition and went back to school. I’m really looking forward to 2011 knowing that we each have the power to make it our best year 🙂
i’d have to say that standing up for myself in my job is the best thing i did this year…otherwise i’d probably have up and quit! 🙂
most proud of this year: my boyfriend and i both earned our M.D.’s!!! it was such a tough but exciting times of our lives and feel blessed to have each other to go through with it!
I’m ready to get back to normal eating too! But it’s going to be hard with all these leftover cookies lying around. 😛
The thing I’m most proud of is quitting my biomedical science degree to get a degree in nutrition instead. I’m so much happier now!
I graduated from Culinary school. SO proud of that 🙂
xo
Those flowers are beautiful. Don’t think I could ever get used to that at Christmas time – I’ve been in Wisconsin too long! By the way, I got a Kindle for Christmas – and I just love it! Take care.
Ooh it looks so nice and warm there!! One of my proudest 2010 accomplishments was graduating. 4 years of hard work later, and I’m so happy to be finished university (although I must say, there are parts that I will certainly miss!) Hope you have a great day Gina!
I joined the Air Force as a JAG officer – something I never thought I’d do! My husband is a navigator on the C-130, so it just made sense to us. In less than a year, I have already been to court several times, and I’m learning so much. The best part? I outranked my husband for 4 months until he promoted to Captain on Xmas day!
I quit smoking (in April) and started running again 🙂
I’m most proud of starting a blog and running my first half marathon! I have big plans for 2011 🙂
Also, if you haven’t gone, I highly recommend going to a dermatologist for your skin.
