Drown it out with green beans

Hey everyone! HAPPY FRIDAY!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ If you havenโ€™t had the chance to enter yet, be sure to check out the Dick’s Sporting Goods giveaway!

Just to clarify, the Larabar I ate yesterday wasnโ€™t rancid! A lovely commented pointed out that the health food stores label bars according to when they bought/received them. Just to make sure, I grabbed said wrapper out of the trash to see if it was expired or not.

008

Well look at that! Haha.

Too bad that was AFTER I strayed from my raw-until-dinner lifestyle to snack on some of these to drown out the Larabar taste:

007

They were delicious, though ๐Ÿ˜€

So let, me tell ya, customer service is not dead. I went back to Get Active and exchanged the disaster shoes and eve got a few extra things since there was a price difference. Iโ€™m still so pleasantly surprised with how incredible the staff was and their response to my situationโ€ฆ Amazing.

Here are the new kicks:

011

Theyโ€™re basically the newer model of my old faithfuls and feel light as a feather and super comfy. So much better!

I also got a Brooks shirt and some Body Glide:

012

Iโ€™m pretty stoked about trying the Body Glide since I have a super sexy chafe mark in the middle of my chest due to the heart rate monitor- sports bra combo.

For lonchi, I had an open-faced salad with romaine leaves, chickpea miso, dulse, avocado and bell pepper.

009

And went to work for a couple of training appointments. After work, while I waited for the pilot to come home, I did the Crunch Pilates Yoga Blend DVD. It was beautiful ๐Ÿ˜€

For dinner, I actually had time to make a real meal!! Iโ€™ve been slacking a little on that lately with work and getting ready for vacation, so it definitely feels nice to get in the swing of things!

We had Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi (using whole wheat bread panko bread crumbs), Lemon Garlic Green Beans, and the pilot had some whole wheat cous cous with homemade peach salsa mixed in (onion, chili powder, jalapeno and peach)

015

Check out that crust!!!

016

I had my fish atop some spiralized raw zucchini with lemon juice and flax oil:

017

Not a shabby Thursday night meal ๐Ÿ˜‰

018

I just took the puppen-havens on a walk and am about to start cleaning the upstairs where our Tucson trip has exploded. Then Iโ€™ll probably make the macaroons for the Summer Shape Up winners ๐Ÿ˜€

Have a great day and Iโ€™ll see ya after INDIAN tonight!!!

xoxo,

G

Time Travelers Wife is a FABulous book. I had withdrawl when I finished reading it.

  2. Nina on August 14, 2009 at 9:51 am

omg, im so excited for the TTW. I didn't read the book yet but i'm debating on whether or not I should wait and see it after i read it. I usually like to read the book first. I'll wait and see what the other posters have to say. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Jessica on August 14, 2009 at 9:51 am

That's so great you were able to exchange. You're going to LOVE body glide – I even used it for my beaded wedding dress!

Good to know you weren't eating a rancid Larabar! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Pamela on August 14, 2009 at 9:51 am

The Time Traveler's Wife is my favourite book… I read it nearly straight through!

I have heard that the movie is not quite what the book is – but I have high hopes. Rachel McAdams is one of my favourites! I'll definitely be dragging my pilot this weekend…

    Happy Friday!

  5. MoFish on August 14, 2009 at 9:51 am

I absolutely think you should read the book first. It's AMAZING and while I am sure the movie will be good, I doubt it will compare to the book. So, so good.

  6. MarathonVal on August 14, 2009 at 9:57 am

Please, please read the book!!!! Julie & Julia… the book was good, movie was way better.

But TTTW is literally my fave book of all time. I read it every summer… just finished this summer's read last night and I am devastated that I can't read it again until next summer!!!!

    PUHLEASE read this fabulous book!!

  7. Dori on August 14, 2009 at 9:57 am

Those are my sneakers! I LOVE them!!!

I saw The Time Traveler's Wife movie on Tuesday and LOVED it. The book is my favorite of all time (READ IT!) and I read it twice. The movie did not disappoint! it stayed true to the book and was just beautiful.

Can't wait to hear what you think!

  8. Thinspired on August 14, 2009 at 10:02 am

    Totally stoked about TTW!
Your mahi mahi dinner looks absolutely amazing. I love how you do the his and her meals, too ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. blueberrymuffins on August 14, 2009 at 10:07 am

I heard that the book was really good, but I try not to read it before the movie because I get upset at how its just not like the book! That happened to me with my sisters keeper!

I love great customer service!!! I make sure to leave positive feedback on their website :)!

  10. VeggieGirl on August 14, 2009 at 10:08 am

Lovin' the new kicks and all the DULSE!! I eat it daily, haha ๐Ÿ˜‰

  11. Lauren on August 14, 2009 at 10:10 am

TTW book was amazingly emotional and I'm worried they'll have a hard time conveying that to the viewer in the movie.

It's a quick read, as long as you're paying attention and don't get distracted. Otherwise, you could get a little confused and have to re-read a few pages now and again.

  12. Laura W on August 14, 2009 at 10:14 am

Hey Gina! The Time Traveler's Wife is our book this month for book club, and a couple of the girls said to definitely read it before seeing the movie. I'm not sure why everyone always says to read the book before the movie (To be able to compare or just to have some background on it?), but hey, I'll go with it!

p.s. That mahi mahi LOOKS so good. If you didn't find the new, non-expired larabars in AZ, let me know… I figured that I'd mention it again since you probably wouldn't ask!

  13. brandi on August 14, 2009 at 10:15 am

i love that shirt and your mahi mahi looks so good! I've never tried doing a crust like that at home.

    enjoy Indian!

  14. sarah w on August 14, 2009 at 10:16 am

I'm in desperate need of new sports bras and running shorts – mine are all so old! $100 would have me running in style again. Haha.

  15. K from ksgoodeats on August 14, 2009 at 10:17 am

Phew, good news on the Lara!! Haha! Love the new shoes – hope they treat you better than the other pair ๐Ÿ˜€

Lemon garlic green beans? I like! Have a blasty at your Indian food date!

  17. TiredGirl on August 14, 2009 at 10:32 am

I'm dragging my SO out to see it tonight. I've waited for years! It's my all time favorite book.

  18. Brittany on August 14, 2009 at 10:36 am

Gina- I have those same shoes! They've treated me very well, so I'm pretty sure you will enjoy them. Also, I love your new Run shirt- it's super cute!

  21. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on August 14, 2009 at 10:54 am

Glide totally works..when I used to live in humid climates and was running outdoors alot, it was the total go-to.

Enjoy your Indian Feast-your blogs about it inspired me to buy some whole wheat naan from TJ's for my little one and I just blogged about her stuffing her face with it.

And your dulse flakes, do you have a particular brand recommendation you like?

Thanks for the great posts Gina and have a great weekend!

  22. Danielle C. on August 14, 2009 at 10:57 am

  29. Sarah (LovIN My Tummy) on August 14, 2009 at 11:53 am

I'm so glad you were safe from that Larabar and that you found some better shoes. Your dinner looks wonderful!

I'm kind of banking on the Time Travelers Wife being like a Notebook 2. Tears will be shed.

    Bring on the INDIAN!!!

  30. Jenn (eating bender) on August 14, 2009 at 11:58 am

Phew! I'm glad the Larabar was ok :o) And wow, way to go Get Active on hooking you up with better shoes! I've never tried Body Glide before but think I should probably consider purchasing it considering I've had plenty of chafe moments in my life, lol.

Ok, you're Macadamia Nut crusted mahi mahi has me drooling over here. It looks way better than anything I've seen in a restaurant! Holy moly!

I haven't read TTW, but I really want to see the movie. I always bawl after watching The Notebook, and I'm sure this will be no different! Have a fab weekend!

  31. Tay on August 14, 2009 at 11:59 am

Glad to know you're not going to die anytime soon from rotten larabar!! haha.

I'm STOKED for the movie!!! I have no idea how confusing the movie might be (with all the time traveling and stuff), but if you don't read the book before you see it, make sure you STILL read it later. It is sooooooooo good!!

  32. Brittany on August 14, 2009 at 12:06 pm

The book is soooooo sooo good!!! I hope the movie is just as good but i'm not looking forward to crying ๐Ÿ™

Love that dinner you cooked up! I'm trying to decided who's plate looks tastier, but I think it's a tie! ๐Ÿ™‚

  36. Diana on August 14, 2009 at 1:18 pm

I thought I hated fish until I tried macadamia-coconut crusted mahi mahi in Hawaii. Holy God. Seriously, macadamia nuts make everything better! I'm jealous of your dinner, but then again, I'm pretty much gonna drool about anything served over zucchini noodles. Good thing that's what's for lunch!

  37. calquist on August 14, 2009 at 1:27 pm

The book was amazing. I'm not sure if it will be the same after you see the movie and understand the plot. I think part of the greatness of the book is that you don't know what is going on ๐Ÿ™‚

  38. carolinebee on August 14, 2009 at 1:34 pm

Yeeesss YESSSS yesss read it!!! It's my current plane read and i love it ๐Ÿ˜€ Those shoes are gorgy i need some new asics!
