Friday Faves

Hi friends! Happy Fri-YAY. What are you up to this weekend? Anything fun on the menu? We don’t have anything too crazy going on (just the usual weekend shenanigans), but I’m looking forward to spending time with the fam and chilling. We’re also recovering from a little staycation and two days at the Lodge at Ventana Canyon.

Swimming

This is quickly becoming one of our favorite stayacation spots. The rooms are suites, the food and service are awesome, the pool is warm and has a beach entry for the little ones, and it’s a quick drive.

We spent both days at the pool watching the kiddos splash around (Kyle, Meg, EJ, our cousins, and Uncle E came to swim, too), with the adults drinking perfect house margaritas,

Rita

and sharing platters of chips, guacamole, salsa, and chicken quesadillas. The cousins had a sleepover in our room and it was pretty much the cutest ever.

Not a bad way to head into the weekend. <3

It’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party! This is where I share some of my favorite finds from around the week and web, and I always love to hear what you’re loving, too. Please join the party and shout out any faves in the comments below!!

Beauty + fashion:

-I ordered this new Tarte concealer and can’t wait to try it, in hopes that it will help with the underage baggage. Everything is 25% off through tonight!! (When I’m really in a puffy spot, I use these and am obsessed with them.) I also love their bronzer, contour compact, eyeshadows, and mascara primer. (<— I won’t wear mascara without it! It makes your lashes look super long.)

-Adios tee!! I really wanted one from the Nordstrom sale, but they sold out instantly. Thankfully a blog reader friend gave me the heads up on IG when they restocked and I was able to snag one in my size.

They’re sold out now, but fingers crossed that they’ll restock it again. It’s so comfy.

Read, watch, listen:

Thanks to my friends at Well + Good for including me in this roundup of healthy beach bag essentials.

An awesome article about Kyle’s changes to the Commoner & Co. menu.

A helpful post from my friend Katy and friendly reminder to look out for your breast health. I love that she wrote this, especially since I went through a similar ordeal this year. (Thankfully, my specialist told me I didn’t need a biopsy, but we’ll be monitoring via ultrasound.)

So much truth here. That’s why I love Monkey Burger and their sweet potato fries SO MUCH.

Loving the comments section in this post and feeling like I need to find a flamenco class here in Tucson.

Don’t forget to check out this week’s podcast episode here!

Fitness:

This banded stepper workout looks intense.

10-minute home lunge workout.

Check out this Lean Machine workout for some solid strength work.

Food + recipes:

Kite Hill Greek yogurts. This is one of my fave Whole Foods finds in a while. I love the goat greek yogurt, but I’d often wish there was a plant-based yogurt with a little less sugar and a little more protein. Kite Hill to the recuse. Each container has around 10g of protein and isn’t a total sugar bomb. I love these mixed with protein powder (I get the Garden of Life grain-free vanilla and chocolate from Thrive Market) and Paleo granola.

Tucson got a Nekter!! I took a barre3 class this morning (the kiddos played in their awesome play lounge) and then we walked around the mall. When we got downstairs and saw the new Nekter, sparkling in the sunrise, I did a little dance of happiness.

Health nut smoothie with almond butter, add spinach, no agave, half banana.

Mostly no-cook dinner recipes.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see ya soon!

Questions for you: do you have a hobby (besides working out, cooking, or reading)? What do you like to do?

hobbies- I play the piano, watercolor, draw, try to keep up my French, and read tarot cards to name a few. I also enjoy learning about wine (not just the drinking it part, but that too, which I also count as a hobby). Are you going to do a post on this??

I knit, crochet, embroider and am working on my sewing skills to make pants this summer. I also cook most everything from scratch and bake. I hike and dog walk (in addition to running, yoga and strength training). I watercolor occasionally and should devote more time to it. I love hobbies!!

I like to watch tv and avoid adulting (mostly kidding). The husband and I are slightly nerdy play/collect board games.

I bought the Shape Tape concealer after seeing sooo many beauty gurus call it their “holy grail”…I spend a lot of time watching makeup tutorials on YouTube (is that a hobby?!?!) Anyhoo…

I don’t like it!!! (Insert devastated crying emoji!!) I made my under eyes appear dry, enhanced the texture and “crepiness”, which normally I don’t HAVE!! And it has a smell I don’t care for….old-school cosmetics, perfumey….

My new blog is taking up most of my free time right now….but as far as other hobbies I LOVE scrapbooking. I don’t do it as often anymore, you really need a dedicated space in your home. The supplies take up some space!

other than pilates, yoga and workouts: I love hiking, biking, dancing, horseback riding, reading, animals, learning about other cultures/languages..

I kind of chuckled at you having to recover from a staycation!!?? It looked pretty nice, was a recovery really needed?

Oh it was amazing! I just meant we played and partied pretty hard. We were dragging on Friday after tons of swimming and staying up late 🙂

If I was a millionaire I would stock my fridge with those kite hill greek yogurts! Hope you had a good weekend
