Friday Faves
Hi hi! Happy Friday! How are you? I hope you’re having a wonderful morning so far. We’re on the road for a dance competition (don’t worry, the Pilot is driving lol), and I’m looking forward to cheering for Liv and some Phoenix fun.
TBH, it’s been *a week* around here. Today is day 2 back in my contacts after the great conjunctivitis. I’m feeling way better (it was a virus and I definitely felt run down while I was fighting it off with the help of magical steroid drops), but had to let a lot of things go over the past week-ish. It will all be waiting for me when we get back from Phoenix 😉
(Maisey loves sitting with me on the PEMF Go Mat! She thinks the heat is very comfy and healing.)
It’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party. This is where I share some of my favorite finds from the week and around the web. I always love to hear about your faves, too, so please shout out something you’re loving in the comments section below.
Read, watch, listen:
I blasted through this book and while I have mixed feelings about it, I’m excited for the movie and the cast.
This also looks like it’s going to be amazing.
What research says about sleep and blood sugar levels.
Fashion + beauty:
Loving these pants from Anthropologie. Usually I feel like wide leg pants are unflattering, but I think these have a better cut than most that I’ve tried. I’m wearing the petite length, they’re true to size, and they have quite a few colors.
I tried a new shampoo and conditioner this week after using the same brand for over 6 years. I’ve been in the market for a clean shampoo, but most of them make my hair feel like straw. Julia recommended this one, and she has the BEST hair, so I decided to go for it.
I ordered the trial size bottles of Revive and Warrior, and while I’ve only used them once, I was impressed. It gave my hair instant volume – it’s felt a lil flat lately – and I’ll report back after I’ve used it for a while.
Beautycounter friends and family is here! They only do a big sale like this twice a year, so it’s the perfect time to try some new products or stock up on your favorites.
If you’re not sure what to get, I set up a cart here with all of my fave products that you can edit and use to shop. If you need personalized recs, email me (gina@fitnessista.com) and I’d love to help.
Fitness + good eats:
This is the sourdough recipe I’ve been using the years. I hope that having fresh bread on the countertop is a core memory for the kiddos; we all love it warm with butter and salt.
An alcohol-free rosé that actually tastes like rosé! Ordered a couple of these from Thrive Market and was pleasantly surprised.
A total body circuit workout + video.
Happy Friday, friends!

Hi Gina!
What size are you wearing in the AN sweatshirt?
It’s adorable
I wear a small. The softest hoodies ever!
Out of curiosity, why no exercise 2-3 hours before bedtime? As a working out of the home mom of 2 littles, that is when I have time during the week… unless I get up at 4:30 – 5am, and that is NOT happening 🙂 So unfortunately, I work out around 8pm and go to bed around 11pm. I’m in great shape and it’s what I did to lose all my baby weight 2x around… please share your wisdom!!
if it isn’t affecting your sleep quality, it’s fine! for many people, it amps up their heart rate and cortisol levels, making it harder to wind down and have restful sleep.
Sending all the pink eye sympathy from Phoenix! I had it last month and it was NASTY! Lasted two weeks (what?!) and put on two different types of meds to kill it. Never in my life have I had it to that level. It was wild. My two kids (3 and 20 months) somehow by the grace of god didn’t get it.
omg no way!! i’m so happy you’re recovered and made it out the other side. i’m struggling. i’m wondering if i need to get different drops because these aren’t doing anything. i’ve heard of so many people having it lately – i wonder why. it’s SO bad.
I went to my MD first, he rx me antibiotic eye drops. They did nothing. So I went to my optometrist after a week of that for a second opinion, he was shocked the drops did nothing, said it was a hardcore type and should have worked. So he added on a steroid, and after a week of that it worked. I was actually very very concerned….I’m glad it’s behind me. I’m rooting for you! Lol!
