Garbage disposal city

Hi everyone! Happy Indian Food Day! I can taste the roti nowโ€ฆ. Just have to get through two more aerobics classes until itโ€™s feast time ๐Ÿ˜‰

Howโ€™s your day going?? Any big plans this weekend? Itโ€™s TAX FREE WEEKEND in Georgia and military also get 30% off at Gap, Old Navy and Banana. I see shopping in the near future ๐Ÿ˜€

Last night, Megan made me a tea (in my favorite mug) and we watched Family Guy.

001

Iโ€™ve also been hankering for a breakfast cookie for quite some time and figured it would be a good day to have one since I teach 3 classes.

004  (On an Easter egg plateโ€ฆ cause thatโ€™s how I roll)

It was just as delicious as I remembered ๐Ÿ˜€ I used 1/3 cup oats, 1 smashed banana, 1 scoop chocolate brown rice protein, 1/2 tbs raw cocoa powder, hemp milk, 1 tbs almond butter, cinnamon, Stevia and sea salt. A-freaking-mazing.

I also had dessert after my dessert-style breakfast:

006

The only thing that makes macaroons better is smearing some almond butter on top ๐Ÿ˜€

I taught a sweaty and packed spin class- just the way I like it- and used Monday’s playlist. Iโ€™m seriously loving โ€œKnock You Downโ€ right now.. an excellent climbing song

When I got home, I decided to make a sludge before going to the gym for a training appointment.

008

Iโ€™m glad I drank the smaller one first because it was pretty nasty. The larger cup was destined for garbage disposal city. The sludge had a mango-flavored coconut water, a peach, a bunch of blueberries, smoothie infusion, Stevia, sea salt, cinnamon and vanilla. I think the lack of banana and/or avocado in addition to the mango-flavored coconut water created the nasty flavor of this sludge. I donโ€™t recommend replicating this one ๐Ÿ˜€

Since I only drank a third of the sludge, I made a fruit bowl:

009

2 kiwis (does anyone eat the fur?? I most definitely wonโ€™t), a small green apple and blueberries. Much better.

As I was getting ready to go train, my client called to re-schedule, so I donโ€™t have to go into work again until I teach spin at 5 and Zumba at 6. Itโ€™s a good thing though, because I have 2 new dances planned for tonight and I might want to practice them.

Hereโ€™s tonightโ€™s Zumba playlist:

image

Well Iโ€™m off to take a nap with the puppies do something productive, making a raw BLT for lunch, teach spin and Zumba and then Indian with the girls.

Iโ€™ll see ya tonight with an Indian food baby ๐Ÿ˜€

xoxo,

G

Something to talk about: So Iโ€™ve been thinking about races lately (since race season is finally starting and I havenโ€™t been able to get myself to run very often in this heat) and am seriously debating signing up for the Walt Disney Marathon. Iโ€™m already going to do the Princess Half Marathon, which I ran last year and LOVED, but want a new goal to push myself towards. I honestly never had the desire to run a full marathon and within the past couple of months I have found myself seriously itching to do it. The only obstacles I may have are: school (because I already have a feeling Iโ€™ll want to go back for the advanced session) and my crazy aerobics teaching schedule. For the half, I only trained once a week since I was teaching so much and still beat my goal time so I think I could do itโ€ฆ.We shall see ๐Ÿ˜‰ I need to decide soon though because registration is 70% full. Have you ever ran a full marathon?? Whatโ€™s your favorite race distance?? Mine is definitely a 10kโ€”the perfect mix of speed and distance for me ๐Ÿ˜€

try to fuz on kiwis!!! it is soo delish and full of fiber too!!! I always spray mine with FIT veggie wash, give it a lil scrub, snip the ends and eat. Seriously it is good!!!

I have not ran a full marathon yet, but i am itching to run one too. I am debating the ATL ING in March 2010! we both need to just do it!

  2. Julie on July 29, 2009 at 2:17 pm

do itt! i'm coming from ny and it's gonna be my first marathon! i'm nervous though because I'm currently injured and havent been able to run in like 3 weeks! But do it!!

  3. Anonymous on July 29, 2009 at 2:33 pm

I am considering signing up for it too, thanks to your posts about the Disney Princess Half Marathon! We will most likely be PCSing early March so it just is not doable, and the Disney Half is already full. So this will be my first marathon as well. I am super nervous but I think we have enough time to train!

  4. Lori -Pure2Raw on July 29, 2009 at 2:33 pm

Disney marathon weekend is a blast. I have done the 2 half-marathons and 1 full marathon there already, and have signed up for the full marathon again this coming year!!! So I recommend it. They are hard work especially when you get to mile 22, for me that's when it gets tough. I like half-marathons though! If you have any questions please let me know, I would be glad to help out. Like where to stay, how race day works with getting pictures, etc.

Sorry, anonymous is me! It is my first comment, did not mean to do that!

  6. Gina on July 29, 2009 at 2:38 pm

I thought about running the Disney marathon before, it looks super fun. What type of chocolate brown rice protein do you use? I drink brown rice protein but it tastes nasty!!!

  7. Monica on July 29, 2009 at 2:54 pm

    Hey G–
I think if you work out all the time, you will be fine. I have run a few marathons and only run once or twice a week. I think it is just key to get in that darn long run. If you do that, you will be fine. I did do some long sessions on the elliptical and worked out often; I just didn't run much as I have super bad knees. It sounds like you are in good shape and would do fine! Monica

  8. MarathonVal on July 29, 2009 at 3:10 pm

I love half marathons and full marathons – you should definitely sign up! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Mandy on July 29, 2009 at 3:16 pm

I've thought about the marathon… I grew up in Orlando… so it's a good excuse to go home to visit and to disney ๐Ÿ™‚

But… I've never ever been a runner! I don't know that I'd have it in me!

I missed zumba this week ๐Ÿ™ i'm bummed! My new fav zumba song is that pitbull song…fun :)and we do one to michael jackson's startin' somethin'… my favorite overall!

  10. Jessica on July 29, 2009 at 3:20 pm

    (First post on your board)….

I am a relatively new runner, have run some 5k's but decided that next May, I would run my first full marathon. It is a great goal to have, and a huge achievement! I say go for it.

I am also running my first 1/2 marathon at the end of August…..I think I have turned into a runner….AHHHH!!

  11. Erica on July 29, 2009 at 3:42 pm

I think with the weekend being tax free AND getting a military discount…it would be a sin NOT to shop ๐Ÿ˜‰ Enjoy it- can't wait to see the goods!! Yummy eats today. I think you should def try for the marathon! You're in incredible shape and I know you can do it! We'll all be here supporting you. Enjoy the Indian tonight.

I can't listen to Knock You Down without that one line sticking out – I used to be commander in chief on my pimpship flyin' HIGH! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Every single time it just jumps out!

Ooooh get your shopping shoes on, G$!

  13. heyitstay on July 29, 2009 at 3:50 pm

Ahhh Disney Marathon is one of my dreams!! Go you! I've ran 1 full, 1 half, and was training for another full when I got injured. I LOVE marathons because I love distance. I can't sprint, so even a 10k would be hard for me to sprint! Even half marathons…blah. I'm more slow & steady!

  14. Suzanne on July 29, 2009 at 3:55 pm

This is just my unsolicited, unprofessional opinion, but in your particular case, I would have to strongly advise against running a marathon. Given your already packed schedule, I think it is just inviting injury. If you think that you'd prefer to run one over teaching, then that's a different story, but something's gotta give. Think how much fun zumba dancing is….do ya wanna cut that out to pound pavement? And maybe you do in fact, so then you can make that switch. But I think that teaching classes and training for a marathon is nice only in the abstract and that in reality it would really suck. Also, running is terribly taxing on joints and……well, it makes you have saggy ninnnies and saggy skin later on in life, too.

    Just my 2 abes.

Okay and fine there's more, I have anecdotal evidence from more than one buddy that when training for a marathon her sex drive vanished….just looking out for the pilot….umm…I mean….er….creeeepy

  15. buffmuffy on July 29, 2009 at 3:57 pm

well at least the sludge LOOKED pretty ๐Ÿ™‚
i used to do 5ks but i wasn't in my best shape. i didn't race much when i WAS in my best shape. . . so as i work towards getting into even better shape i hope to do 5k and then 10k.

  19. Ada on July 29, 2009 at 4:55 pm

I love your Easter plate, it's so cute! You should do the Disney Princess Marathon, I bet it will be a fun race. Think about how accomplished you will feel afterwards and about the post-race euphoria. My favorite race distance would be a 5k since running isn't really my thing haha.

  20. Leslie Elizabeth on July 29, 2009 at 5:14 pm

Hi Gina! Currently I'm suffering from overtraining syndrome after going way too hard for about two months w/out giving my body enough rest. I ended up gaining a couple pounds and being constantly sore. I was wondering if this has ever happened to you and if you had any recommendations for recovery, how long to take off and what to do to aid recovery.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

    LOVE your blog! : )

  23. Isha on July 29, 2009 at 5:36 pm

Man, I love Zumba. You should totally create an instructional video for the rest of us! Just one dance. We could have a blogger-wide Zumba session!

    Happy Easter!

I like my kiwi like I like my bikini line. I'll let you ponder that one…

  27. jenngirl on July 29, 2009 at 6:18 pm

I'm afraid of the fur on kiwis! I doubt I would enjoy them too much…

Have fun teaching and enjoy Indian cuisine tonight!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  28. Kate on July 29, 2009 at 6:58 pm

I ran a half and a full. I enjoyed the full, because it's awesome to say that you ran one and finished it! The half was much more enjoyable though. The half for me, was what the 10K is for you. My whole philosophy is that if you can run 3, you can run 6. If you can run 6, you can run ….. =)

  29. Island Girl Eats on July 29, 2009 at 7:43 pm

I have done a few 1/2's and am signed up for the full at Disney in January. I have been training since about 6 weeks ago. It is hard work, but I can't wait!

  30. Annie D. on July 29, 2009 at 7:56 pm

DO THE DISNEY!!! :o) We're going down NEXT October and there should be a 3k going on the week we're there, so I'm pretty sure we're going to sign up. (I know… 3k is NO marathon!! It's less than we normally run…but it's Disney! You can't go wrong!)

YUM-O breakfast cookie by the way!!

  31. roseyrebecca on July 29, 2009 at 8:25 pm

I don't know how I feel about leaving the skin on kiwis. I'm not sure I like the idea but I keep seeing everyone doing it!

I went to my first full spin class today (I left the last one early) and loved it!! I loved the soundtrack too!! It definitely makes or breaks the class!

  32. just me on July 29, 2009 at 8:29 pm

I love the fuzz on kiwis! i actually eat my kiwis like apples! haha!

do disney! i've only run one 1/2 and it was ok, but my fav race is probably the 10k or 5k.

  33. Lauren on July 29, 2009 at 8:49 pm

The skin of a kiwi is definitely delicious, I promise you!

But I do buy organic kiwis if I eat the skin.

Good luck on the decision with the race. I think 10k is the perfect distance too!

    Take care beautiful girl!

  34. She-Fit on July 29, 2009 at 9:20 pm

I've never ran one. I wish I could say i have, but I just can't get myself to enjoy running… and trust me, I have tried so hard.
I say go for it if you can fit it into your schedule, but I have heard that a full marathon is very time consuming when it comes to training

  35. L on July 29, 2009 at 9:21 pm

I don't usually trust fruit that has hair…

    lol

  36. Leah on July 29, 2009 at 9:52 pm

I ran the Twin CIties Marathon last October and I am training for it again. ANd I loved it. The last 6 miles were absolute HELL but the feeling and sense of accomplishment I got when crossing the finish was amazing and it was surreal even weeks afterwards…like did I really do that?!?!?!?

If you are looking for a challenge I would definitely do it but it does take up a lot of time and you really have to be DEDICATED!

But I know of all people you can definitely do it!

    -Leah

  37. HangryPants on July 29, 2009 at 10:00 pm

I wish I had the guts to do a full, but I am a scaredy and don't want to do it while starting a new job. I think you would love it.

I'm a Disney Chear-leader. Last year my daughter and I ran the 5k the day before the Princess. My husband ran the Half 2 months before that, and the Disney full the year before that. My daughter's cross country team competed at the Disney Wide World of Sports Cross Country Classic. We do a lot of Disney running. I picture running through EPCOT a lot on my runs. Here's our Royal Family 5k video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uybljW-LrP4 and my husband's HM recap:

Happy shopping! I am a military wife too, and I love me some military discounts!!

Also, I made your slow cooker chicken cacciatore for my husband today, and he LOVED it, thanks so much for sharing recipes you make for the pilot with us! I almost always have to make two separate meals so it's helpful to find new recipes!

I'm a running newbie so, a half marathon is my first goal. But, if your schedule will allow you to run the full marathon, you ought to go for it! You will gain a huge sense of accomplishment from conquering the goal of a marathon!

now I gotta make that breakfast cookie!!! been dying to try it!

Kiwi is great no matter how you peel it (or not)haha
and I can almost jog 3 miles without stopping so I am closer to pondering a 5K than a half or full marathon!!!

YIKES! That's a lot of running!
    Happy Thursday

  46. Kristina on July 30, 2009 at 3:01 pm

Definitely do it!!! My favorite races are half marathons because they are a challenge but your body doesn't absolutely despise you the next day. =) Though marathons have made me feel like I can do anything!!! I seriously thought I was going to stop after the first in June 2006 and I am now training for my 7th, the Nike Women's Marathon in SF. Love em'. Good luck and I cannot wait to hear your decision. =)
