His and Her Toast

Hi guys! How’s your morning going??? <3

Since I woke up before the Pilot (a rarity, haha), I made us both some bfast.

His toast was covered in Earth Balance and apricot preserves

omelet

(with an organic ham n’ cheese omelet.. that I overcooked a little, oops)

Her toast was French 🙂

french toast

For my French toast, I used *this recipe*. A few days ago, someone was tweeting about French toast made with banana instead of eggs (I’m sorry I can’t remember who it was!) and wanted to give it a whirl.

Banana, almond milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla in the Vitamixalicious:

mix

Brown rice bread went for a lil swim in the banana pool:

dunk

Cooked it up:

french toast (2)

and topped with milled flax and maple syrup.

LOVED this- sweet and light. Sometimes regular French toast is a little too heavy for me in the morning –I’d prefer it for dinner- but this version is perfectly satisfying without being too much.

I’m off to make some tea and get crackalackin on my To Do list:

-Finish the scrapbook pages (blahhhhhh)

-Hit up the juice place

-Work

-Work on the Solo Spin sesh I’ll post this afternoon (with a playlist)

-Some of this…

turbo

(My friend Elizabeth sent me this “Turbo Bling” shirt! So cute… thanks again, friend)

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

xoxo,

Gina

Something to talk about: Fall is almost here!! What are you most excited about?? I can’t wait for Pumpkin Spice lattes, sweaters and boots 🙂

From the beautiful changes in leaves (I live in Upstate/Western NY) to the perfect temperature and most importantly, pumpkin pie!! And I totally agree with Kristina that fall smells amazing 🙂

Real apples! I’m so sick of the galas that are in the grocery store. I can’t wait to head to a pick-your-own farm and get my favorite tart ones: macouns and staymans.

  12. Lauren on August 24, 2010 at 10:50 am

Definitely bought my fall boots this morning! It’s kind of chilly in Philly today, which makes me even more excited!

  15. Sara (Running with Teaspoons) on August 24, 2010 at 10:54 am

Ahhh, I’m SO excited for pumpkin spiced lattes! I wonder if you can buy the sugar free syrup and make them at home – Have you ever tried? I loove them, but my wallet does not love the frequent Starby trips in the fall (I make my own coffee most mornings). I’m also SO excited for the humidity to die down so that my runs will be even more enjoyable. And lastly: fall foods! I have some great autumn recipes I’m excited to try.

    • Fitnessista on August 24, 2010 at 1:31 pm

i’ve tried to make starbucks drinks at home but it’s not the same… let me know if you have success with it though!

I LOVE that turbofire tank – so jealous!!! I have been wondering if any of the turbo swag was available for purchase, can you ask your friend? I haven’t seen it online anywhere.

I like french toast for dinner too — but it is delicious at any time of day 🙂

I’m so excited that your vegan French toast was good!! I’ve been looking everywhere for a recipe that doesn’t use bizarre ingredients, so I just bookmarked the one you used. I have so many Fitnessista recipes in my bookmarked folder right now- need to get cracking!!

  22. Laura on August 24, 2010 at 11:09 am

I love fall. I look forward to pumpkin and apple picking with my honey, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin flavored anything really, being able to drag out all my Halloween and Nightmare Before Christmas stuff and just the generally cooler weather. Oh and lady bugs. For some reason we get swarms and swarms of lady bugs (and man bugs too!) that seem to come out in droves around the fall time.

  23. Katie on August 24, 2010 at 11:09 am

Pumpkin Spice Lattes are THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im so excited for everything pumpkin!

I must say too, Coldstone has a pumpkin pie in the sky icecream every fall and it is AMAZING! I always treat myself to it every fall!

I’m excited for all those things as well 🙂 I LOVE fall! Every year in September, there’s a wine and harvest festival near my hometown. I leave the hustle and bustle of Chicago for the weekend, spend some time with mom (step-dad dear hunts every weekend in the fall) and we enjoy some wine and walk around and look at all the handmade goodies. I love every minute of it.

So here’s something- I’ve never had French Toast…I think part of me just doesn’t like the idea of dipping toast in egg batter- but this recipe sounds delish 🙂

  35. Angela on August 24, 2010 at 11:36 am

That French toast looks delish. But so does the Pilots. Love apricots. Fall is my favorite season. I’m looking forward to my birthday (woohoo!), Thanksgiving, Football and the crisp weather. In terms of food I can’t wait for pumpkin and apples. I used to love going to farms in the fall when I was a kid. Might need to make this a new favorite past-time.

  36. The Peanut Butter Addict on August 24, 2010 at 11:36 am

Scarves are definitely my favorite part of fall. I also just adore walking in parks and admiring the leaves changing color – it’s beautiful.
This fall, I’m also excited for my first year of not going back to school as a full-time student 😀

  46. Lauren on August 24, 2010 at 12:38 pm

Oh my, how I’ve almost forgot about Pumpkin Spice Lattes! Can’t wait!!

  47. Heather on August 24, 2010 at 12:56 pm

A definito to the pumpkin spide lattes – and pumpkin pie, and butternut squash, and my mom’s Thanksgiving stuffing. I also love the change in the air we get here in the midwest – the crispness of it is invigorating to me. And my birthday and my little girl’s birthday.

And that french toast recipe looks delish – eggs are always too rich and heavy for me. I’ll have to give this one a try. Thanks for sharing!

  48. hannah on August 24, 2010 at 12:56 pm
