Breakfast Cookie Dough Cereal
Hi guys! Hope youโre having a lovely morning. <3 Today I’m going to share a breakfast recipe for something I’ve been enjoying for a few weeks now: Breakfast Cookie Dough Cereal! It sounds too good to be true, but this healthy breakfast packs in a bunch of nutrients while tasting like a treat.
There are endless possibilities for what you can add to this and for the different toppings you can use. The main components stay the same, though: oats, nut butter, cinnamon, vanilla, salt. From there you can completely customize it to add extra protein or superfood ingredients. There’s even an option to make it raw if you’d like.
It’s pretty simple to throw together in the morning, but to make it even faster, you could always put it together the night before and add your milk of choice in the am.
Just mix together the dry ingredients,
add the nut butter and sweetener, and stir until it resembles cookie dough crumbles,
top with your favorite things, and store in the fridge overnight.

Raw Cookie Dough Cereal
If you’d like to try the raw version, you need to start with groats instead of oats (available in the bulk section of most health food stores). Soak 1/2 cup overnight, then drain and rinse them in the morning. Pulse in a food processor to break them up a bit, then add all the rest of the ingredients and pulse to combine. Transfer the crumbly mixture to a bowl, and add your milk and toppings. Feast! ๐
So there ya go! Please let me know if any of yaโll try it ๐ Itโs a perfect breakfast choice for summer, when you still want your oatmeal, but aren’t in the mood for something warm. I’ll probably get back into hot oats again when cooler weather comes back, but breakfast cookie dough cereal is definitely something I could enjoy year round.
Iโm off to do some yoga and then get back to the packing/moving beast.
See ya later today with a post on fall change/resolutions and a re-visit to the olโ inspiration board.
xoxo,
Gina
Something to think:
โPeople deal too much with the negative, with what is wrong…Why not try and see positive things, to just touch those things and make them bloom?โ

Love this, thanks for the how-to!! I can’t wait to make the original version- it sounds great! Hope you have a great Tuesday ๐
I had this again for breakfast today!! So good. ๐
I love that last quote. That kind of thinking has got me thru the last year!!
Thanks for the how-to post! ๐
Gina,
Are you moving out of Valdosta? Are you selling your home and being re-stationed? You mentioned you were staying with family so I wasn’t sure if your husband was being deployed or if you are being re-stationed. (not sure if that’s the right terminology!)
hey girl,
yes, i’m moving out of valdosta. the pilot is going… elsewhere. we’re moving everything out of our condo to save $ and are probably PCSing (being sent somewhere else) when he gets back. if not, we’ll just get an apartment in valdizzy for a few months
i loveee that quote! it is perfect for everything i preach about on my blog ๐ i’m stealing it, hope you don’t mind!!
of course! i didn’t write it, haha ๐
I have yet to get into the cold oats thing. Seems so weird to me!
it used to be weird to me, too, but now i love them!
Oh! I was just making bfast cookies normally and pouring milk/toppings over it and breaking it up with a spoon. I’m dumb!
no you’re not! do they taste ok with the smashed banana in there? i was thinking the texture might be a little off with the smashed banana and the milk
It was actually really tasty. The milk softened the cookie and it broke apart as I was eating it so I scooped up milky cookie chunks. ๐
I’ve been doing the same, minus the banana & love it! I add banana slices to the milk like traditional cereal. It’s awesome!
Yum! This looks like the perfect cereal for these sweltering last days of summer we’re having.
I love the breakfast cookie, I was wondering how you did it as a cereal. I can’t wait to try this!
Thanks for the how-to. So do you let the oats soak or all? Aren’t they a bit hard and chewy cold like that? Or am I just not getting it–which is entirely possible.
The boys love breakfast cookie in a bowl and Ethan’s teacher sent home a note about a week ago that said “Ethan tells me he eats cookies for breakfast, I know you’re healthy – can I have the recipe?”. I’m sending her here for the “how-to”. She’ll love it!
P.S. 105degrees – it rocked my life – we went there for dinner and then again on Sunday morning for brunch before driving back to StL. There are some pics on my FB. ๐
Good luck with the packing! Thanks for the cereal tips! Enjoy your day!
i’m excited to read your fall resolutions. as for me, i’ve resolved to commit to daily (or at least more frequent) yoga. i read somewhere (can’t remember where!) that the calming benefits of yoga increase with frequency, not necessarily duration. so instead of a couple long practices spread over the week, i’m aiming for 20 min seshes a day..
mmm so delicious! i am loving sun warrior as well ๐ never tried goji berries though!
So I read your blog this morning before breakfast and had to try your recipe! Yummy!! I think next time I’ll had the nibs, I didn’t want to go all crazy on my first try! lol Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the tutorial ๐
I think I need to make myself an inspiration board for the fall! So many things I want to accomplish but it’s all floating around in my head… need to put it in writing and get er done!
love that quote…exactly what i needed to hear today ๐
Love that quote at the end. I always try to focus on the positive. There is always positive in anything if you look hard enough.
Thanks for sharing the perfect breakfast! I think I will try that in the next couple of days-I have all the ingredients. Great quote! I think I have a very positive outlook but We all can use reminders, right? ๐
I’ve apparently been making *closeto* breakfast cookie dough cereal and didn’t even know it! I’ve basically just been making overnight oats, minus the yogurt + extra milk and I use about the same fixin’s:) It’s so good! I love adding cereal (Kashi heart to heart) to mine too!
Can’t wait for my Sun Warrior to get here!!
This looks delicious Gina. I love love love your bfast cookies and I love cereal…so maybe I need to try this soon!
The quote at the bottom is great. I know I always seem to dwell on the negative in any situation. I’m working on having a more positive attitude though! Baby steps…
that looks so good! and so different! I’m definitely going to have to try it!
Thanks for the tutorial–I’ve been wanting to try this, but was not brave enough without a step-by-step.
Also I love that quote. It’s much easier to focus on the negative, but much less rewarding.
Hi Gina! I’ve tried your cookie dough cereal, but I slightly altered the way in which you make it (http://thepalatepeacemaker.com/2010/08/25/overnight-cookie-dough-cereal/) ! I am OBSESSED though, nonetheless. Thanks so much for posting this step-by-step how to! I’ll be making plenty more “serious cereal.”

Desi
I’m definitely going to make this for breakfast tomorrow, thanks for the how to!
Are the regular oats soaked overnight? That was the only part I missed.
nope- no soaking ๐
Do you know if all the SW orders that were placed last time you ran the promo shipped on Monday? There’s no tracking info when I log in to Open Sky and the status just says “pending”…
yup all orders from last week shipped yesterday. if you haven’t received a confirm # by tomorrow, send me an email
Love the Something to Think quote. Thank you.
OMG this sound amazing right now.
Ooh this sounds good! I love how there are always new bfast ideas popping up in the blog world. ๐
The last quote, sooooo true! Even if there ARE negatives going on in life, it’s best not to dwell on them and see the positives. Such a powerful quote and I am not usually a “quote person”..haha!
Have a great day hon and good luck with the packing and congrats on all the opensky success. I sold something on my opensky yesterday. I was all excited. Small thrills baby, small steps….LOL
๐
So excited I just bought the combo pack. So will the orders today be shipped tomorrow?
whoo hoo! you’ll love it ๐ orders will be shipped early next week
Thanks! I had this for breakfast and it was delicious. I switched it up and used some Nutella with my almond butter and it was delish!
oh YUM!
Food looks great! Warrior three is my favorite! Sometimes I have trouble with balance poses. I found Leeann Carey has a free yoga video that talks about a Sitting Bone/Heel Connection in standing poses that is really helpful. Thought your readers would like it: http://planetyoga.com/yoga-blogs/index.php/free-yoga-video-kps-sitting-boneheel-connection/
I’m definitely going to try that recipe. Yumm!
And that quotation is awesome! Very true! Thanks for sharing it.
? HefiA
That sounds good, I HAVE to try it! You turned me onto the Egg Puff, so I know I’d like this too!
YESSSS!! I can’t wait to try it. I’ve been eyeing all those yummy breakfasts you’ve been creating! ๐
Thanks for the how to! I’m a big fan of the breakfast cookie (genius) and I can’t wait to try this! ๐
Am very much in love with that goodness!
Awesome recipe! I’m so sad that its gray/cloudy/rainy today… and for the rest of the week, cause a warm breakfast sounds perfect right now. But I guess that’s what I have to live with when I live in the Pacific Northwest.
I tried the cookie dough cereal- AMAZING! I feel like I should fell guilty eating it but then there is nothing to feel guilty about because it is healthy. Plus it was quick and easy and I was in a rush this morning.
so glad you liked it!! <3
I tried a Stevia product for the first time today, and I found it tasted fake, like Equal or one of those sweeteners- not my thing! I usually use turbinado sugar but wanted to try Stevia. Maybe it’s the brand I used, I bought Stevia in the raw. What brand to you use?
Just tried the cookie dough cereal. I am officially obsessed! I am going out of town for the week and thinking about how I should pack all of the ingredients! ๐
yeahhhh! glad you liked ๐
Do you heat up the first version of the breakfast cookie cereal?!
nope!
Hey Gina!
Decided to finally whip this up for breakfast this morning..and i think im HOOKED!
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for reposting this link! I’ve just recently fallen in love with overnight oats. I can’t believe how good cold oats are. I’ll have to give this a try!
let me know what you think!
Okay…I know I’m kind of late in the game here…but I just made the original version this morning and it ROCKED my world! So delicious! Also, I’m a new reader and have really been enjoying your posts! Thanks for the recipe! ๐
Hey girl, I don’t know if you’ve tried it this way but I did this yesterday and loved it! Make bfast cookie the normal way (banana and all) and freeze. Then when you’re ready to eat, get it out of the freezer and break into chunks. Put it in a bowl and top with almond/whatever milk – so so good!
Nic
Yay to the extreme! I’ve been getting bored of my “banana bread in a bowl” cereal, but don’t feel like oatmeal. Now I know exactly what to try! You are awesomelicious!
thanks for reminding me of the banana bread in a bowl- i’ve missed it!
