Shake your chips

Hi friends! How was your day? Hope it was fabulous <3

We had a relaxing, but productive day together.

This morning, we got some stuff put together in the nursery:

The Pilot finished assembling the crib

crib

we finished a little art project

baby (2)

[a snippet of the name we’ve chosen]

and then we hit up the Columbus Day Sales.

 world market4

I picked up a few things –stuff for the house from World Market and a few things that are on the Fashion page– and the Pilot got a couple pairs of jeans that look verrrrry nice on him.

shopping2

Lunch was Chipoddle:

chipotle

Part of me wishes I never would have tried their chips because now, every time I go, I have to have some. The other part of me is very, very glad I’ve been introduced to the chip glory of Chipotle, because they are the perfect chip. So salty and citrusy. [I got the title for this post from one of my friends. When he teaches Zumba, he tells us to shake our “chips” because chips is Spanish for hips]

We’re back at the house now, and the Pilot is grilling up some dinner 🙂

salmon

New salad beast comin’ atcha in the am.

me

Have a great night and I’ll see ya in the morning!

xoxo

Something to talk about: Do you dress up for Halloween? What are you doing for Halloween this year? Any ideas for hilarious/awesome costumes I could rock with a giant belly?

One of my pregnant friends wore a dress, tiara, and sash. The sash said “Miss Conception”. Everyone thought it was really cute!

when i was pregnant the first time- back in 1996 -there was a costume contest at a bar. i never went to bars, but this one was almost worth it. I have dark hair, a chubby face, that “jewish look” and I really wanted to go as a pregnant Monica Lewinsky. that was the year it would have been hysterical, but i was too tired after a day of work to go through with it. plus, you could still smoke in bars then YUCK!!!!
this year i think i’m going geisha. http://www.sexycostumes.com/ginger-geisha-costume.html

For pete’s sake. I wish I looked that cute when I was preggers. 🙂 That salmon looks SO yummy? What’s your marinade/coating? Enjoy nesting!

My salsa teacher was “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.” She was the pumpkin and her husband was Charlie Brown… a little too round for me but it was cute!

  9. Krystina (Organically Me) on October 10, 2011 at 10:43 pm

Your letters look so cute! Much more special than the expensive store brand ones you linked. 🙂

  10. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on October 10, 2011 at 10:44 pm

I love how the letters came out! SO cute! And that crib is gorgeous! I can’t wait to see how the nursery looks all put together!

I know a gal who, when she was pregnant a couple of Halloweens ago, rocked the baby bump and went as a pumpkin smuggler! I think that was the cutest pregnant Halloween costume I’ve ever seen.

I am dying to know her name!!!!

  15. Maria on October 10, 2011 at 11:01 pm

I was a panda one year. It was a huge hit. All homemade. I wore a white hoodie under a black sweatshirt with a large white piece of paper cut into a rectangle with the corners rounded pinned on to the black sweatshirt (for a tummy). I had the white hoodie hood on with some black paper ears, and I painted my nose and around my eyes black.
I can’t figure out how to post a picture, but I wish I could it was pretty funny.

  16. Ali on October 10, 2011 at 11:05 pm

The crib and the letters look awesome! Nice to hear you got in some relaxing today. I don’t think I am going to dress up for Halloween. And I have no good costume ideas. Sorry!

  17. Stacy @ LoveDiscoveryGratitude on October 10, 2011 at 11:19 pm

    1) I REALLY hope I look like you when I’m pregnant! You look so gorgeous, glowing and fit!

      you’re a sweetheart- thank you!

  18. kristin on October 10, 2011 at 11:24 pm

hey Gina, I LOVE your blog and read it everyday :). here is a Halloween idea my sister used when she was prego last year…a speed bump! She wore all black and taped yellow caution tape in diagonal strips around the bump just like you would see on asphalt! She looked so cute!

    • Fitnessista on October 11, 2011 at 1:35 am

that is such a cute idea!!

  19. Gurminder on October 10, 2011 at 11:42 pm

    You look so beautiful!!
I can’t wait to know the name now, I keep thinking of names with -lia…if its even those letters in that order? Natalia? Amelia? Cecilia? 😉

    • Fitnessista on October 11, 2011 at 1:35 am

      thank you, lovely!
and those are all beautiful names 🙂

  20. Claire on October 10, 2011 at 11:44 pm

are we allowed to guess what the baby’s name might be?? 🙂

    • Fitnessista on October 11, 2011 at 1:35 am

      of course!

  21. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on October 10, 2011 at 11:48 pm

You look adorable in that last pic!

I’m not even going to begin to guess at the name you chose. My brain is fried and you could have *so many* options with those letters. And they may not even be in that order. So yeah, I will just wait for the reveal 🙂

I’m not dressing up but got Skylar’s princess costume. 4th year in a row she requested to be….a Pink Princess 🙂

  22. ChocolatePBCups on October 10, 2011 at 11:51 pm

Sounds like a fun day 🙂 I love the art project! So pretty. And you look great!

  23. Laury @ thefitnessdish on October 10, 2011 at 11:57 pm

My guess is that there’s a “v” and an “i” missing

The crib looks great!!!!!!! Good job, Pilot! How long did it take to put together???

I love Halloween. Always have. Last year I wore this hott blonde wig I got the year before…it was a really nice wig, not one of those cheap weird ones. I went as “pregnant Barbie.” I had a “Barbie” necklace but pretty much had to explain my costume all night though. I was able to get Michael to wear a Ken wig so that helped. Classy. I was barely pregnant but thought I looked majorly pregnant (bc I wanted to be). I had issues in which I laugh at now… http://www.thefitnessdish.com/?p=2441

Maybe you could go as a pregnant celeb? Or be really controversial and go as a nun 😉

Looking forward to the beast tomorrow, friend! Enjoy your night!

    • Fitnessista on October 11, 2011 at 1:34 am

ahhh i loved looking at those pics! blonde looks good on you, friend 🙂

  24. Laura on October 11, 2011 at 12:16 am

Preggy costume idea – Pumpkin! My friend did that.

No Halloween costume for me this year – I’ll be in DC for the Marine Corps Marathon. I’m sad that I won’t get to dress up the puppy dogs though.

I have to say, I love that you call it “Chipoddle.” I used to call it that, but everyone looked at me weird, so I stopped. I might have to start back up 🙂

    • Fitnessista on October 11, 2011 at 1:33 am

i fully support openly calling it chipoddle 😉

  25. Azka on October 11, 2011 at 12:26 am

I can’t for the life of me recall where I saw the picture of the costume yesterday, but the belly was decorated with a large fake cinnamon bun with a cardboard oven around the mom, husband in baker garb in tow.
p.s. you really are glowing! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on October 11, 2011 at 1:17 am

      hahah i love it!

  26. Kathleen on October 11, 2011 at 1:24 am

Aww! You’re an adorable pregnant person!
I had a preggo friend that went to a tacky sweater Christmas party dressed as the Grinch with a huge belly. Everyone thought it was hillarious and it could work for Halloween too! You could also decorate the bottom of a t-shirt to look like a jack-o-lantern!
I bet your neighborhood is going to be awesome to trick-or-treat in when your little one is older =]

  27. Hannie on October 11, 2011 at 3:03 am

Hey Gina, or should I say Habari ya leo?
I have been in Kenya since June, so have not checked ur blog until now. You’re Pregnant! Congratulations! I totally understand your inability to find cute pregnant clothes, try finding cute clothes in Kenya! Anyway just wanted to say I still love your blog! and am trying to stay healthy in Kenya. I have a blog now too hannahsinkenya.blogspot.com. Not as interesting as yours, but I try.

  31. janiek on October 11, 2011 at 6:11 am

Ahhh your baby belly looks so pretty. I know thats a kind of weird thing to say but, well, it does!!

  32. Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun on October 11, 2011 at 6:25 am

I was a pumpkin last year when pregnant. I just used an orange shirt and did black paper cutouts to look like a jack o lantern on my belly. Super simple and cheesy…but fun. 🙂 Here’s my post with it: http://www.faithfitnessfun.com/5450/i-saw-michael-myers/

Anyways – I get more excited to dress up the little ones. M is going to be Belle this year and she is SO excited. Can’t wait to see if you do anything. 🙂

  33. Katie on October 11, 2011 at 7:03 am

Ohhhhhhhh Chipotle, what memories! Ha! Love ya girl!

    You look so great!

Love the crib and yay for deals!

  34. Hillary on October 11, 2011 at 7:05 am

That crib is adorable. Truly, it is.

I’m such a Halloween lame-o. I never have good, original ideas!

  35. Erin on October 11, 2011 at 7:07 am

Yum that Chipotle looks delish! For Halloween one year while my sister-in-law was pregnant she found a costume “Bun in the Oven” and her husband’s costume was master baker. I thought it was so cute! Good luck picking something out!

  36. Len on October 11, 2011 at 8:04 am

I love the pics of you and the pilot! so cute! 🙂

  37. Jessica @ Sushi and Sit-Ups on October 11, 2011 at 8:19 am

Can’t wait to see the final nursery…with her name!

  38. Sarah on October 11, 2011 at 8:43 am

You could be a CRAZYYYYYY hormonal pregnant lady! Like cover your face with chocolate and carry around 7-10 baby magazines and talk about nothing but your birthing group?!

    I dunnooooo…

  39. Ashley on October 11, 2011 at 8:45 am

    Hi Gina!

I’m also pregnant but not really showing enough to be anything fun with the belly as the centerpiece. Either way I have the most perfect idea for a Halloween costume for you. You can be an oven with a picture of a bun where your belly is… get it, bun in the oven!! 🙂 They have some lame ones you can buy online but seeing how artistic you are (love the baby name letters!), you can probably just make one with a cardboard box and some paint. Good luck, I know you’ll be adorable whatever you choose 🙂

  40. Shannon @ Healthiful Balance on October 11, 2011 at 9:07 am

I am loving that crib!! 🙂

  41. Sarah @ See Sarah Eat on October 11, 2011 at 9:14 am

You are so cute, love that pic of you 🙂 I always thought if I was pregnant on Halloween I would be Mary (as in mother of Jesus) but I’m glad to see there are other ideas too. I love the “Miss Conception” thing that was hilarious 😉

  42. Nancy @ Beyoutiful Fitstyle on October 11, 2011 at 9:32 am

Cute crib!!! I love the dark finish and attached changing table.
You have the cutest baby bump!

I want my boyfriend and I to dress up at Claire and Phil Dunphy from Modern Family, if I can get my hair dyed back to my natural dirty blonde by then!

  43. Anastasia on October 11, 2011 at 9:37 am

You did an awesome job on painting the letters! They look great!

I had a friend that introduced me to Chipotle’s chips and now it’s never the same when I go there. They really are the perfect tortilla chip.

I don’t usually dress up for Halloween, but I will wear some kind of themed shirt (last year it was Ghostbusters) for when I give out candy to trick-or-treaters. I go all out with decorating the outside of the house though. I love Halloween!

  44. Chaaron on October 11, 2011 at 9:51 am

I have two friends who had cute pregnancy halloween costumes.

One friend went as an oven – with a box around her belly and you could see a bun. “Bun in the Oven”. Her husband went as a baker.

Another went with her husband as the Duggars. She wore a hysterical jean jumper and they received so many compliments. It was a hit!

  45. Jess @ Just Call Me Janks on October 11, 2011 at 9:52 am

My Halloween suggestion would be a nun and the Pilot go as a priest. A bit religious, I know, but still very funny when coupled with a pregnant belly!

  46. Kristen on October 11, 2011 at 9:53 am

    my guess is Olivia! 🙂

  47. aj on October 11, 2011 at 10:09 am

Ugh! I’m so jealous of your glorious counter space! It looks like so much fun to cook up a feast in that kitchen! Also the crib looks fab, can you even believe you will soon be placing the little sleeping bean in there? Have fun with the rest of your baby prep!

  48. Lizzie on October 11, 2011 at 10:22 am

Gotta love those Columbus Day sales (I always forget about the seemingly small holidays, until I realize every store is on sale) – I shopped WM too last night by the way! 🙂

I vote a pumpkin for your costume. My non-pregs friend did this in college: buy a child’s pumpkin costume (you’ll basically have to wear it as a pumpkin leotard hehe), black leggings, black t-shirt, hair in a pony on the top of your head w/ a green ribbon for the stem! Pilot could be a scarecrow ha..

Another idea from college: my friend was a Tiffany’s box and it was adorable. Just leggings & white tshit – she painted a large box in Tiffany’s blue, wore it like a jumper w/ white ribbons holding it up. and a white ribbon on your head. I can email a pic for inspiration if you’d like!

On a side note, you look as gorgeous as ever girl 🙂

  49. Alycia on October 11, 2011 at 10:36 am

Our department at work is doing “Unhappily Ever After” for Halloween. Its basically fairy tales with a dark side/twist. I’m coming as Little Dead Riding Hood. I chopped off the wolf’s head, and I’ll be carrying it in a basket, along with one of my son’s swords! 😉
