Don’t you love when something totally unexpected makes your day a little brighter?

moon

(Gorgeous full moon last night! Now if only I knew how to make my camera photograph it like an actual moon instead of a dot, that’d be kinda cool)

Well, that’s what happened yesterday 🙂

package

First I was excited to see a package that didn’t have the Amazon smiley face on it –those tend to pop up over here pretty frequently- and then I saw “perishable food” and things got even more ridic.

cookies5

A package of Chicago foodie goodies from our good friends Mara and Adam 🙂

Carol’s cookies, Garrett’s popcorn and a deep dish pizza. No words.

I couldn’t open the popcorn fast enough….

and put the pizza in the oven, just in time for the Pilot to get home from work.

Random acts of kindness are truly amazing, and whenever someone does something nice for me, it makes me want to share the positive energy with someone else… so I thought it would be a great day for a giveaway- it’s been a while since we’ve had one of those over here!

After reading the comments on yesterday’s YouTube fitness post, I remembered that many of you also enjoy working out at home, so I thought I’d share one of my favorite at-home workouts with a blog friend:

image image

Winner’s choice: Insanity or Turbofire

You can read my reviews in the links above and decide whether you would prefer a drill-based high-impact workout, or a dance meets kickbox high-energy workout. It makes it even harder to choose because Shaun T. is fun and verryyyy nice to look at, and Chalene is a firecracker of motivation and energy.

All ya have to do:

-Leave a comment with your favorite at-home workout option

(If it’s your first time commenting, I’ll be approving those throughout the day, so no worries if it doesn’t show up right away)

This giveaway is sponsored by Livi and Bella- the winner will be chosen tonight at midnight EST and announced tomorrow am.

To sweeten the deal:

roons

Hope you have an amazing humpday!

See ya later with a Family post.

xoxo

Woops forgot to add my own workout options – sometimes I make up my own bodyweight workouts, and other times I go on dobcx.com for some options. That site has some KILLER intense workouts.

  2. mountain girl heidi on March 7, 2012 at 12:45 pm

I know it probably doesn’t count, but my favorite at home workout is lacing up my running shoes and heading out the front door for a run. I consider it an “at home” workout, because I don’t drive anywhere, and the start and end points are at my house.

  3. Morgan on March 7, 2012 at 12:45 pm

Jillian Michaels is my go to option right now.. quick and gets the job done!

  4. Amanda G. on March 7, 2012 at 12:45 pm

I LOOOOOVE turbo fire! And I have always wanted to do Insanity! I hear it’s amazing. This is a perfect giveaway since I love both dance-kickboxing type workouts and drill workouts. But since I already have turbo, it would be awesome to try Insanity!

  5. Melissa on March 7, 2012 at 12:46 pm

My favorite workout options at the moment are any yoga dvd’s or tae bo dvd’s. Insanity is next on my list to get, so I would love to win this!

  6. Kelly on March 7, 2012 at 12:46 pm

My favorite at home workout is the wii fit and chasing after my 9 month old baby.

  7. Amber @ Busy, Bold, Blessed on March 7, 2012 at 12:46 pm

I’m really just a fan of putting on some tunes and doing a bunch of random body weight exercises in my living room… push-ups, tricep dips on the side of the couch, planks, crunches, wall squats, lunges, calf raises… love keeping it simple, but I’d also love to check out those videos!

“Sponsored by Livi and Bella” hehe 😀

  8. Lauren on March 7, 2012 at 12:46 pm

Right now all I’m doing is the Jillian Michael’s Cardio Yoga DVD. It’s amazing! After a month I’ve noticed definite change in my arms and my core and I LOVE it!

  9. kristina on March 7, 2012 at 12:46 pm

My favorite at-home workout are yoga dvds! My current fav stars Bob Harper of the Biggest Loser. 🙂

  10. Kate Z. on March 7, 2012 at 12:47 pm

    P90X!

  11. Jessy (squeezetheday) on March 7, 2012 at 12:47 pm

My favouritw home workout is dancing around, really, combined with some body-weight exercises, such as squats and push ups. 🙂

  12. Helen on March 7, 2012 at 12:47 pm

My favorite at home work out is doing Dance Central on my Kinect! It hits the spot when working out doesn’t sound like fun. I’ve been tempted to try Turbo fire!

  13. Amanda on March 7, 2012 at 12:47 pm

I like how you sweetened the giveaway. 😉 Pure Barre and yoga.

  14. Erin on March 7, 2012 at 12:47 pm

I personally enjoy basic crunches, pushups and free weights at home- and while it technically isn’t “at home” walks around the neighborhood with my giant dogs are also great exercise too!

  15. Cheryl on March 7, 2012 at 12:47 pm

I love watching bodyrocktv at home and following their workouts.

  16. Alison on March 7, 2012 at 12:48 pm

How fun! I LOVE both of those workouts! 🙂 I have been loving bodyrock workouts as well as Jillian Micheals dvds. I only workout at home so I have LOTS of options! What a great giveaway!! Thanks!

  17. Tiffany on March 7, 2012 at 12:48 pm

I subscribe to Bryan Kest’s power yoga podcasts- so amazing! Not the same as being in a studio with 50 other people, so I make it work by throwing on the heater 😉

  18. Jeff on March 7, 2012 at 12:48 pm

Barry’s Boot Camp (lower body emphasis) does the trick for me right now.

  19. Lindsey on March 7, 2012 at 12:48 pm

How fun! Due to living on a student budget I’ve been loving integrating bodyrock/zuzana’s workouts (thanks to your mention) into my running and yoga rotation! It’s been a good balance 🙂

  20. Catalina @ Cake with Love on March 7, 2012 at 12:49 pm

I currently do The brazillian Butt Lift, Turbo Fire and some videos from BodyRock.tv, I would love to add the Insanity to my collection!

  21. Lu on March 7, 2012 at 12:49 pm

I love to do yoga at home. I also have an obsession with walking so that gets worked into the routine.

  22. Coleen on March 7, 2012 at 12:50 pm

I must admit that I love my Wii for workouts. I have the Fit, Active, and multiple Just Dance “games”. I like to have fun when I workout and feel like I can really get into it when no one is watching (except my husband and cat who seem to get a kick out of it). I would love something new to do at home.

  23. deepsouthrunner on March 7, 2012 at 12:50 pm

I’ve enjoyed doing various p90x workouts including Plyometrics and Ab Ripper X, and I also like to do Yoga and Pilates DVDs at home!

  24. Christie on March 7, 2012 at 12:50 pm

Right now, I rotate through various Biggest Loser DVDs – because that’s what I have. But I would love to add Turbo Fire to my routine!

  25. kaila @ healthyhelper on March 7, 2012 at 12:50 pm

I love Bob Harpers DVD’s for at home workouts! They are surprisingly challenging!!

  26. Nikki on March 7, 2012 at 12:50 pm

Anything I can find On-Demand that doesn’t involve weights!

  27. Jasmine on March 7, 2012 at 12:51 pm

I love going on my spin bike than some TRX afterwards!

  28. Ashleigh on March 7, 2012 at 12:51 pm

Currently, training for a half marathon, but I love the option of popping in a DVD and sweating at home!

  29. daisy on March 7, 2012 at 12:51 pm

Playing kick boxing on the wii. Maaaan I ache after though!

  30. Kayla on March 7, 2012 at 12:51 pm

my favorite at home work out is my Zumba Exhilarate DVD set. while it’s not quite the same as shaking my booty in a zumba class, it still gets me moving and sweating in my apartment

  31. Sarah Anne @fear-no-food.net on March 7, 2012 at 12:52 pm

I loved p90x when I have done it, but have been reeeaalllyyy wanting to try turbofire!

  32. Jil W on March 7, 2012 at 12:52 pm

Loving the Kettleworx dvd’s right now ~

  33. Carly on March 7, 2012 at 12:52 pm

What an awesome giveaway – I have been tempted by the Insanity infomercial more times than I can count! One of my guilty pleasures is waking up on a Sunday morning with a nice breakfast and watching workout infomercials… oh, the joys of not having cable! ?
My favorite at home workouts are all the things I’m semi-embarrassed to do at the gym. Things like the bridge, butt workouts where I’m on all fours, and inner thigh workouts.

  34. amanda on March 7, 2012 at 12:52 pm

I love my DVD’s by “The Firm” they are kind of old school and slightly cheesy but you get an amazing workout. I think I have about 10 of them! I also tried the Zumba youtube workout you posted yesterday and really enjoyed it! Some that I searched for were better quality than others, I had a really hard time finding a good one for Flamenco. I have been dying to try Insanity. I think I’m up for the challenge!

  35. Lauren A @ Newest Obsession on March 7, 2012 at 12:53 pm

I love hitting up my living room with a pair of 10# dumbbells and a fully body circuit. I love how easy it is to work up a sweat at home with minimal equipment!

  36. Holly on March 7, 2012 at 12:53 pm

My fav at home workout involves my yoga mat and interval timer (for abs/butt), free weights/coffee table (arm toning), and foam roller. It’s a 20 minute session that I invented…but does the trick in a time pinch.

  37. Jayhawk Jen on March 7, 2012 at 12:53 pm

Right now I am loving the Wii Fit 🙂 ~ not strenuous, but lots of fun.

  38. Erin on March 7, 2012 at 12:53 pm

My boyfriend and I love to do the BodyRock workouts together. We like getting sweaty and cheering each other on when things get really tough–and you’re the one that introduced us to BR. Thanks!! (And I “liked” the video. I hope everything works out for the best for them.)

  39. RachelG on March 7, 2012 at 12:53 pm

Home is the place where I can really shake up my workouts! I love going from yoga one day to an on demand jillian michaels workout the next. 🙂

  40. Holly on March 7, 2012 at 12:54 pm

Dance with Julianne is kicking my butt, but I like it. Would LOVE to get TurboFire!

  41. Lauren on March 7, 2012 at 12:54 pm

Hmm…I love me some Shaun T., but I have to go with my man Tony Horton and P90X. Oh and of course Beto! Zumba makes my heart sing. As do macaroons. Just sayin’… 😉

  42. Blakely on March 7, 2012 at 12:54 pm

Right now, I love the Body By Bethenny Yoga DVD. In the past, I’ve been a huge p90x fan. It’s insane!

  43. Maggie on March 7, 2012 at 12:54 pm

I love Bob Harper’s DVDs…. I’ve never tried Insanity or Turbofire but have been wanting to!! Thanks for a wonderful giveaway!

  44. Allison on March 7, 2012 at 12:54 pm

I love playing fetch with my dog– we end up chasing each other more than the toy!

  45. Emily G on March 7, 2012 at 12:54 pm

I love doing Pilates or a full-body circuit with crunches, pushups, tricep dips, lunges, and squats.

  46. Kaye on March 7, 2012 at 12:55 pm

I used to be allll Zumba all the time, but lately I’ve been loving Piloxing (which I also teach). I love the tone my body is getting!

  47. Ashley on March 7, 2012 at 12:57 pm

I love doing hill drills on the treadmill while watching trashy tv shows on Netflix… If I only allow myself to watch “Say Yes to The Dress” while on the treadmill, I’ll keep going for a longer time!

  48. Lindsay on March 7, 2012 at 12:57 pm

I agree with the poster above who said that her favorite “at home” workout is to go for a run. I, too, consider that an “at home” work out. Other than that, I’m not ashamed to admit that I own the 8-Minute Abs video and love it 🙂 Simple and quick!

  49. Jessica on March 7, 2012 at 12:57 pm

The DVD’s I workout to are Jillian Michaels Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, 30 day Shred, and Bob Harpers Inside Out Method workouts. However, my absolute favorite to work out to is Chalene’s Turbo Jam. Sooooo fun, goes by really fast, and I get super sweaty.

  50. Sarah S. on March 7, 2012 at 12:57 pm

I love working out at home if I’m in a time crunch. It’s usually pilates but sometimes just doing a quick little workout to get my heart rate up works too and leaves me feeling more energized!
