Don’t you love when something totally unexpected makes your day a little brighter?

moon

(Gorgeous full moon last night! Now if only I knew how to make my camera photograph it like an actual moon instead of a dot, that’d be kinda cool)

Well, that’s what happened yesterday 🙂

package

First I was excited to see a package that didn’t have the Amazon smiley face on it –those tend to pop up over here pretty frequently- and then I saw “perishable food” and things got even more ridic.

cookies5

A package of Chicago foodie goodies from our good friends Mara and Adam 🙂

Carol’s cookies, Garrett’s popcorn and a deep dish pizza. No words.

I couldn’t open the popcorn fast enough….

and put the pizza in the oven, just in time for the Pilot to get home from work.

Random acts of kindness are truly amazing, and whenever someone does something nice for me, it makes me want to share the positive energy with someone else… so I thought it would be a great day for a giveaway- it’s been a while since we’ve had one of those over here!

After reading the comments on yesterday’s YouTube fitness post, I remembered that many of you also enjoy working out at home, so I thought I’d share one of my favorite at-home workouts with a blog friend:

image image

Winner’s choice: Insanity or Turbofire

You can read my reviews in the links above and decide whether you would prefer a drill-based high-impact workout, or a dance meets kickbox high-energy workout. It makes it even harder to choose because Shaun T. is fun and verryyyy nice to look at, and Chalene is a firecracker of motivation and energy.

All ya have to do:

-Leave a comment with your favorite at-home workout option

(If it’s your first time commenting, I’ll be approving those throughout the day, so no worries if it doesn’t show up right away)

This giveaway is sponsored by Livi and Bella- the winner will be chosen tonight at midnight EST and announced tomorrow am.

To sweeten the deal:

roons

Hope you have an amazing humpday!

See ya later with a Family post.

xoxo

I love love love to do yoga at home. It’s so relaxing when I don’t have to focus on anybody else except my body and the podcast voice. A close second would be Insanity, I could stare at Shaun T and his abs any day 🙂

  2. Nina on March 7, 2012 at 1:49 pm

Treadmill or Yoga! Keeping my fingers crossed for Turbo Fire. Thanks for sponsoring this Livi and Bella 🙂

  3. mama on March 7, 2012 at 1:49 pm

Honestly i just get my free weights out and do 3 sets of a couple body parts each day! It works for me! My husband has been dying to do Insanity tho so that would be clutch!!

  4. Jess on March 7, 2012 at 1:49 pm

I currently love Jillian michaels’ Ripped in 30! I would love to try turbo fire!

  5. Alexis on March 7, 2012 at 1:50 pm

I work out on my treadmill at home a ton. I prefer running outside, but I run at night after my kids are asleep, and it’s just so easy to get on the TM in the basement. I dreamt that I fell asleep on it while running last night, that’s how much time my TM and I spend together. Love the blog.

  6. Jennifer T. on March 7, 2012 at 1:51 pm

I usually do a yoga podcast or a Jillian Micheals DVD at home. Have been wanting to try Insanity though (and your macaroons, of course!)

  7. Kim N. on March 7, 2012 at 1:51 pm

I’m a Zumba instructor so my favorite at home workout is choreographing new stuff for my classes!! When I’m not doing that, I use free weights and my stability ball. Have a great day 🙂

  8. Allison on March 7, 2012 at 1:52 pm

I love doing BodyRock workouts at home, but have been wanting to try Insanity for forever!

  9. Amanda on March 7, 2012 at 1:52 pm

  10. Emily on March 7, 2012 at 1:53 pm

  11. sarah on March 7, 2012 at 1:53 pm

i love elliptical machines and jumping rope! i live at the top of hill that overlooks the ocean (I live on an island in maine) and i love to jump rope in my front yard while enjoying the view!

  12. Julie on March 7, 2012 at 1:53 pm

My fave at home workout is a good old fashioned circuit… Many of which I’ve found on your site 🙂

  13. Shelley @ MileHighHealthy on March 7, 2012 at 1:54 pm

I have my own little home gym area and love to strength train in the mornings followed by a yoga stretch session. It’s so much easier when you only have to walk 20 feet to workout and not drive to a gym!

  14. Hillary on March 7, 2012 at 1:54 pm

I love doing circuit style cardio workouts, either ones that I’ve found online or in magazines, or DVDs like Jillian Michaels. Getting my sweat on in my living room is pretty easy if I actually give it a shot!

  15. Melanie on March 7, 2012 at 1:55 pm

Amazing giveaway!! My favorite way to workout at home are my Jillian Michael’s DVDs.. dying to switch it up though!

  16. Stephanie D. on March 7, 2012 at 1:55 pm

Thanks to you, I found BodyRock.tv and Zuzana’s Workout of the Week. My husband and I love doing those together after he gets home from work.

  17. Kim on March 7, 2012 at 1:55 pm

My favorite at home workouts are Jillian Micheals DVDs, Tabata Bootcamp YouTube videos, and boot camp type workouts

  18. Amy Romero on March 7, 2012 at 1:55 pm

Ohhhh I SWEAR by at-home workouts. I get so much more accomplished and push WAY harder than I ever did in a gym. And, I can wear a sports bra and shorts and not worry about people judging.. 😉 Annnyhow, right now my Faaaaav home workout is Chalean Extreme – and you’re absolutely right about her! love her! 🙂

  19. Ashley W on March 7, 2012 at 1:56 pm

I would love to try the Insanity workout. I need something to kick my butt and I’ve read that this is the thing to do it!

  20. Sara on March 7, 2012 at 1:56 pm

I’m a huge Jillian girl – I’ve got like, 5-6 of her dvds at home!

    • Sara on March 7, 2012 at 1:56 pm

(And by Jillian, I mean Jillian Michaels!)

  21. Corie on March 7, 2012 at 1:56 pm

My favorite workout to do at home is run on our treadmill. I usually like to run outside but the treadmill is perfect for the dreary winters in PA!

  22. Lynne on March 7, 2012 at 1:56 pm

I love using stretchy bands and jump-roping is always fun and effective! Light dumbbells help me with toning.

  23. Rachel on March 7, 2012 at 1:56 pm

I usually use yoga podcasts, but i have been loving jillian michael’s 30 day shred!! I would LOVE to try turbofire (and your macaroons too! 🙂 )

    Step aerobics!!! Kathy Smith, anyone?

  25. Lauren on March 7, 2012 at 1:57 pm

I love anything involving free weights and body weight. And the dread mill 🙂

  26. Tracey on March 7, 2012 at 1:57 pm

I read your reviews a while back and have been waiting to buy TurboFire for awhile, that really sounds fun! So that would be my choice. And I love working out at home. I run when it’s still dark too, just so I can really, truly not care what I look like.

  27. Yveline on March 7, 2012 at 1:57 pm

Any dvd by Jari love or Jillian Michaels is great. I still use my Buff Brides book although I’ve married for 2 years becuase of the total body strenght training exercised it provides. Recenly I discoverd all of the exercise channels on youtube and have been creating a play list with different videos.

  28. Michelle (your girlfriend for fitness) on March 7, 2012 at 1:57 pm

I love youtube fitness videos, epecially some of the yoga workouts like Tara Stiles. The Tone It Up girls have pretty amazing workouts too.

  29. lauren on March 7, 2012 at 1:57 pm

My favorite at home work out is Julian Michaels 30 day shred! It is only 20 minutes and you get a great workout in if you don’t have much time!!

  30. Dana H on March 7, 2012 at 1:57 pm

Burpeeeees! 😉 I love doing circuit type workouts – or workout dvds Jackie Warner or Jillian Michaels.

  31. Lisa on March 7, 2012 at 1:58 pm

My favourite at home workout is for sure Bodyrock or now Zuzana’s WOD! She rocks!

  32. Michelle on March 7, 2012 at 1:59 pm

Wow this is a super generous giveaway! My favorite at home workout is actually Insanity but I don’t have Turbofire and I’m sure I’d love it!

  33. Cara on March 7, 2012 at 1:59 pm

Love to BodyRock at home, along with my own HIIT circuits.

  34. Colleen on March 7, 2012 at 1:59 pm

I love yoga and my Jillian Michaels 30-day-shred and yoga meltdown DVDs…quick and effective!

  35. Katie on March 7, 2012 at 2:00 pm

I do not eat Garrett’s nearly enough for someone who lives in Chicago. Thanks for reminding me 🙂

My favorite home workout is Bodyrock which I think I discovered through you! I just started doing Core Fusion DVD’s which I also like. I have always wanted to try Insanity and TurboFire!

  36. Kimberly A.M on March 7, 2012 at 2:01 pm

I really enjoy at home circuit workouts that combine muscle groups. I like knowing that I’m targeting a lot of different areas in only one move – makes me feel like I’m getting the bang out of my buck 🙂 I’ve really been wanting to try out insanity and turbofire, but haven’t gotten the chance yet . . .

  37. Alice M on March 7, 2012 at 2:02 pm

I love Bodyrock, and I also use to LOVE Chalene Johnson’s TurboJam (not going to lie, the name had a lot to do with my love for it- so awesome!). I have been wanting to try Insanity forever though!

  38. Aylin @ Glow Kitchen on March 7, 2012 at 2:03 pm

To workout at home, I’ll youtube some random dance — like the spongebob dance, or the jerk, or something else ridiculous — and just spend a half hour trying to learn it.

  39. Heather Eats Almond Butter on March 7, 2012 at 2:03 pm

A deep dish Chicago Pizza – love that Mara! 🙂

No need to include me in the giveaway, but for the moon shots, use your bulb setting. A tripod helps, but I just used my elbows. 🙂

  40. Janice on March 7, 2012 at 2:03 pm

Unfortunately I don’t have any at home fitness routine – I currently rely heavily on my gym. It would be wonderful if I could own some fitness DVD’s so I don’t need to forego working out on days I can’t make the drive across town. And those macaroons like heavenly!

  41. victoria on March 7, 2012 at 2:03 pm

Treadmill and a variety of videos…Love trying new things so I don’t get bored…

  42. Sam M. on March 7, 2012 at 2:04 pm

Honestly, I love just finding random HIIT circuits on the internet or doing some that I already have planned out. I hate monotony, so the more random it is, the better!

  43. Jessica on March 7, 2012 at 2:04 pm

My favorite at-home workout is a toss-up between a queue of workout videos I have saved on YouTube or my dance workout DVD – just depends on how ridiculous I want to look! 😉

  44. Tami on March 7, 2012 at 2:05 pm

One of the amenities of where we live, is a gym that has cardio and weight equipment. So I would venture to say that is considered ‘at-home’. I do many interval workouts – most of which you have provided! Although I do have an ab workout that do religiously at night!

  45. Erin on March 7, 2012 at 2:05 pm

I love some of Jillian’s DVDs for a quick workout, but lately they’ve been boring me so I’ve just been trying to do high knees, jumping jacks, and light arm exercises during commercial breaks when I’m at home watching TV. Better than walking to the fridge at least! 🙂

  46. Aubrey on March 7, 2012 at 2:05 pm

I love treadmill and pilates at home! Have been wanting to try the Turbo Fire workout for some time, I hope I win 🙂

  47. Kelsey on March 7, 2012 at 2:05 pm

I love to run then do a yoga video when I don’t take my workouts to the gym!

  48. Molly Petsch on March 7, 2012 at 2:05 pm

I have been loving Shiva Rae’s Prenatal Yoga DVD. I’m 12 weeks pregnant and have had little energy but this DVD is convenient and makes my body, especially my aching back, feel a million times better. That and walking our pup, Mongo!

  49. Laura F on March 7, 2012 at 2:06 pm

I would DIE to try Turbo Fire! I’ve heard amazing things about Chalene Johnson 🙂 my fav at-home workout is a run outside with my pup, Ziggy, followed by a stability ball workout with weights (either on my own or via youtube). Livi and Bella, i would LOVE to be your winner 🙂

  50. Courtney Tucker on March 7, 2012 at 2:06 pm

    What an awesome giveaway! Thanks!

My fave at home workout is 30 day shred but I rarely do it so one of these would be nice. I’d be most excited about trying TurboFire.
