Share the love {giveaway}

Donโ€™t you love when something totally unexpected makes your day a little brighter?

moon

(Gorgeous full moon last night! Now if only I knew how to make my camera photograph it like an actual moon instead of a dot, thatโ€™d be kinda cool)

Well, thatโ€™s what happened yesterday ๐Ÿ™‚

package

First I was excited to see a package that didnโ€™t have the Amazon smiley face on it โ€“those tend to pop up over here pretty frequently- and then I saw โ€œperishable foodโ€ and things got even more ridic.

cookies5

A package of Chicago foodie goodies from our good friends Mara and Adam ๐Ÿ™‚

Carolโ€™s cookies, Garrettโ€™s popcorn and a deep dish pizza. No words.

I couldnโ€™t open the popcorn fast enoughโ€ฆ.

popcorn2

and put the pizza in the oven, just in time for the Pilot to get home from work.

Random acts of kindness are truly amazing, and whenever someone does something nice for me, it makes me want to share the positive energy with someone elseโ€ฆ so I thought it would be a great day for a giveaway- itโ€™s been a while since weโ€™ve had one of those over here!

After reading the comments on yesterdayโ€™s YouTube fitness post, I remembered that many of you also enjoy working out at home, so I thought Iโ€™d share one of my favorite at-home workouts with a blog friend:

image image

Winnerโ€™s choice: Insanity or Turbofire

You can read my reviews in the links above and decide whether you would prefer a drill-based high-impact workout, or a dance meets kickbox high-energy workout. It makes it even harder to choose because Shaun T. is fun and verryyyy nice to look at, and Chalene is a firecracker of motivation and energy.

All ya have to do:

-Leave a comment with your favorite at-home workout option

(If itโ€™s your first time commenting, Iโ€™ll be approving those throughout the day, so no worries if it doesnโ€™t show up right away)

This giveaway is sponsored by Livi and Bella- the winner will be chosen tonight at midnight EST and announced tomorrow am.

To sweeten the deal:

roons

Hope you have an amazing humpday!

See ya later with a Family post.

xoxo

  2. Lisa Garcia on March 7, 2012 at 3:03 pm

My favorite at home workout is jump rope intervals, and walking my basset hounds!

  3. Linz on March 7, 2012 at 3:04 pm

My favorite work out to do at home is a good old fashioned weights sesh. Just set up right in front of the TV and you’re good to go!

  4. Jeanne on March 7, 2012 at 3:05 pm

So sweet of you! My favorite at home workout is definitely Jillian Michaels DVDs. I have a bunch and just do whatever I’m in the mood for.

  5. Melanie on March 7, 2012 at 3:05 pm

  6. Michelle on March 7, 2012 at 3:07 pm

  7. Victoria on March 7, 2012 at 3:07 pm

I have been a ‘silent’ reader for months! I was so excited when you featured youtube yesterday.

I am a university student, as the cliche goes, a *poor* university student. This has led me to the brilliance that is Youtube. I have a workout plan that a friend helped me come up with (it is a mix of many different ones). I’m new to the fitness world so I rely on youtube to find out how to do the exercises properly. One of my favorite youtube fitness gurus is Amanda Russel. She has some great fitness ideas/ workouts!!

Thanks to you, as well, for all of your help in my fitness journey. I have been trying to lose 100lbs for a few years now and you have been a great help in inspiration. I have now lost 50lbs- half way there! Thanks Gina!

  8. Kevie on March 7, 2012 at 3:07 pm

I always do a yoga podcast from iTunes on Sundays. You should check those out, A LOT of them are FREEEEE!!! (my faves are Power Yoga with Dave Farmar..he’s kinda funny, too ๐Ÿ™‚ and Yoga Download has quick 20 minute sessions if you’re in a hurry, or can combine a few!) I am also slooowly getting into Body Rockin! I have read your recommendations, and also, my friend highly recommends it, too!

  9. Kirsten on March 7, 2012 at 3:08 pm

I love doing yoga podcasts at home. Actually, I’m going to do one right now! Wow I would love to get my hands on either of those workout dvds!

  10. kristi on March 7, 2012 at 3:08 pm

My favorite was BodyRock, but since things have changed since I’ve been on a pregnancy hiatus, I’m not sure if I’m going to stick with that or follow Zuzana…

  11. anna maria on March 7, 2012 at 3:08 pm

I am currently doing P90X but alternate those workouts with power yoga podcasts. Turbo Jam is also one of my go to workouts especially after stressful days, which are quite common in veterinary school

  12. Laura on March 7, 2012 at 3:08 pm

I’ve been doing Tina Reale’s online bootcamp as well! I’ve also enjoyed some of Jillian Michaels videos (Banish Fat Boot Metabolism)…in general, anything that makes me sweat (I’m a swimmer….so it’s nice to FEEL my face get hot and see the sweat as a sign of a tough workout for a change). ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Maureen Reiser on March 7, 2012 at 3:09 pm

Any exercise DVD that takes half an hour or less. Jillian Michaels is always kicking my butt!

  14. Donna on March 7, 2012 at 3:10 pm

I like the workouts in Oxygen Magazine. I especially look forward to the first 2 months of each year; they start my New Year out right!

  15. Carlee K. on March 7, 2012 at 3:10 pm

My at favorite at home workout would be beachbody or kickboxing! Since I am living in a dorm room, they are the perfect dorm room workout!

  16. Yin on March 7, 2012 at 3:11 pm

Jillian Michaels’ Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism! I don’t have dumbbells so this is PERFECT! I’m really wanting the sweets more ๐Ÿ˜‰

  17. Ashley H. on March 7, 2012 at 3:11 pm

My favorite home workout is physique 57 or insanity. But I’ve been wanting to try turbo fire for the longest time.

  18. Melanie on March 7, 2012 at 3:12 pm

Anything that I can do in the comfort of my living room is the best! It’s hard to make it outside at times so at home DVDs and On Demand workouts are so convenient.

  19. Erin Mc on March 7, 2012 at 3:12 pm

I like doing my circuit training/intervals at home! I get so self conscious at the gym switching between burpees, mountain climbers, tuck jumps, anything plyo.. you name it, so being at home gives me the freedom to just GO FOR IT and get the most out of my workout! I do Body rock or do past workouts you’ve posted on the fitness page. Would love to get into Insanity!

  20. Colleen on March 7, 2012 at 3:12 pm

I love the Physique 57 workouts — they are so easy to motivate myself to do in the mornings before work!

I would LOVE to try the TurboFire workouts — I love chalene, and that workout has been on my crave list for a while!

  21. Shelly on March 7, 2012 at 3:13 pm

Fav. @ home workouts: Going for a run especially with the warm weather on its way!! & tabata anything!!

  22. Brigid on March 7, 2012 at 3:14 pm

I would LOVE to win! My current favorite at-home workout is yoga using the yogadownload.com podcasts, which I learned about from your blog. I can’t afford to attend a studio, so these are such a great option, and even in only 20 minutes, I can totally feel the burn.

  23. Amanda on March 7, 2012 at 3:14 pm

I like to do Jillian Michaels DVDs or I formulate my own bootcamp type workout to mix it up a bit! I am dying to try Turbofire though!!

  24. Kristin on March 7, 2012 at 3:14 pm

I love using my kettlebell at home! it doesn’t take up much space and can give you a total body workout! ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. Joleen on March 7, 2012 at 3:14 pm

I would love to try the turbo fire dvd’s. All of my workouts are at home since it is hard to get to the gym with two little ones. Right now, I am doing mostly weights until the weather warms up ๐Ÿ™‚

  26. Becky on March 7, 2012 at 3:15 pm

my husband and i recently turned a spare bedroom into a mini gym…so all my workouts are at-home now! i would love to add one of these dvds to mix it up!

  27. Sara on March 7, 2012 at 3:15 pm

I love going for a walk outside. Its one thing I can do during the day while my daughter is awake. If I’m lucky enough when she’s sleeping to have time to work out I like using stretching and yoga dvd’s.

    Thanks!

  28. Reagan H. on March 7, 2012 at 3:16 pm

I love doing fitness dvds at home!

  31. Meredith on March 7, 2012 at 3:17 pm

Gina – long time reader, first time commenter ๐Ÿ™‚ THANK YOU SO MUCH for linking to the Westlakes blog & video – your 1000s of readers will surely be touched by this amazing family! Courtney and Evan are such strong, loving parents and Brenna is a very special little girl! We are actually planning a team to run in honor of Brenna at the upcoming Illinois Marathon – thought you’d like to know that we’re putting fitness to good use! ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you again for helping to share their story!!!

  32. Jaclyn on March 7, 2012 at 3:17 pm

Random acts of kindness are the best <3 I love the video btw. And good friends!

I have been dyyyyyying to try Shawn T but due to $$$$ haven't been able to yet. Although, best at home wkt s are just ANY you can bust out! In the past few months I have actually gotten into at home dvds, which has been a nice addition to the rotation.

Sending good Wednesday vibes to you and Livi <3 :]

  33. Alyssa on March 7, 2012 at 3:18 pm

My favorite at home workout involves a skip rope (and marks from double under attempts) and tabata intervals!

  34. Taran on March 7, 2012 at 3:18 pm

Doing Jillian Michels workouts is what I prefer at home. If I’m not doing a dvd I love running outside or using my elliptical!! Great giveaway!

  35. Mindy - Clueless Nut on March 7, 2012 at 3:18 pm

I like BodyRock or any Zumba on youtube!

  36. Jaime on March 7, 2012 at 3:18 pm

I love to do jump rope/weight lifting intervals at home. It’s fast and intense, and gives me cardio and strength training at the same time. I would LOVE to be able to try Insanity!!! I’ve heard so many raves about it, and it would be the perfect exercise option for me after baby #2 is born this May.

  37. bridget on March 7, 2012 at 3:19 pm

my favorite workout to do at home are pure barre dvds!

  38. Sarah on March 7, 2012 at 3:20 pm

    Pilates!

  39. Jodie @ BirdsNest101 on March 7, 2012 at 3:20 pm

First of all, I live in Chicago and work just around the block from Garrettโ€™s. The line is always SO LONG and the smell is intoxicating on a warm day like today the smell fills the loop area! Also, that pizza has to be Lou’s if it is a Chicago Best Package!! Enjoy!!!!!!

Second, any kind of exercise will work for me!!! I already feel guilty leaving my little lovie Addison Lucille all day when I am at work, and then going to the gym breaks my heart knowing she is alone longer. I would love the opportunity to have a great workout at home!

  40. Caitlin on March 7, 2012 at 3:20 pm

I love p90x videos or making up my own circuits!

  41. Caroline H. on March 7, 2012 at 3:20 pm

I like that the yoga studio I go to will post Podcasts of classes for Free on their website! This helps when I can’t make it to a class, for whatever reason. I also like to practice alone sometimes and this definitely comes in handy!

  42. Sonia the Mexigarian on March 7, 2012 at 3:22 pm

Yoga and Jillian have been my go to workout videos, but I would love to do TurboFire!! In our new home! This means I could actually do high energy impact workouts in the morning without having the downstairs neighbor complaining for the “treadmill” making all the ruckus. That “treadmill” is me.

  43. Vanessa on March 7, 2012 at 3:22 pm

I love the idea of spreading the positive energy!

Last summer and fall I enjoyed bodyrocking. Fell off the bandwagon around the holidays which was followed by insanity with my thesis. Now I’m getting back into workouts and really enjoying POP Pilates with Cassey.

  44. Courtney on March 7, 2012 at 3:22 pm

I would love to try Insanity! There’s only so many times you can do Jillilan’s 30 Day Shred

  45. becca @ bellebottoms on March 7, 2012 at 3:23 pm

my favorite at home workout is doing abs / cardio while watching a fun show…its amazing how quickly time can fly, and how much my stomach can burn!

  46. Ali on March 7, 2012 at 3:23 pm

I like Jillian Michael’s 30-Day Shred! Lots of modifications for the days you need them and plenty of motivation for the days you don’t!

  47. Katie on March 7, 2012 at 3:23 pm

I’ve been enjoying several of the Jillian Michael’s dvds or really just any made up circuit!

  48. Laury on March 7, 2012 at 3:23 pm

I’ve been wanting to do both of those programs!!!!!!!!!!! But I think I’d choose Insanity!!!

And of course I’d love some Fitnessista roons!!!!!!

That is so heartbreaking about that little girl. My prayers to the family. Off to “like” the video.

  49. Rose on March 7, 2012 at 3:24 pm

I usually do the 30 day shred, but need to mix it up! Sometimes I will pick random workout videos On Demand.

  50. Molly on March 7, 2012 at 3:24 pm

I love doing P90x Plus and Intensati at home. The interval workout is only 45 minutes and a killer. And no one is more motivating than Patricia Moreno. I’ve taken her class many times in real life and she’s just amazing. I’ve been dying to try Turbofire and this dairy free girl would adore some macaroons too. xo
