Donโ€™t you love when something totally unexpected makes your day a little brighter?

moon

(Gorgeous full moon last night! Now if only I knew how to make my camera photograph it like an actual moon instead of a dot, thatโ€™d be kinda cool)

Well, thatโ€™s what happened yesterday ๐Ÿ™‚

package

First I was excited to see a package that didnโ€™t have the Amazon smiley face on it โ€“those tend to pop up over here pretty frequently- and then I saw โ€œperishable foodโ€ and things got even more ridic.

cookies5

A package of Chicago foodie goodies from our good friends Mara and Adam ๐Ÿ™‚

Carolโ€™s cookies, Garrettโ€™s popcorn and a deep dish pizza. No words.

I couldnโ€™t open the popcorn fast enoughโ€ฆ.

and put the pizza in the oven, just in time for the Pilot to get home from work.

Random acts of kindness are truly amazing, and whenever someone does something nice for me, it makes me want to share the positive energy with someone elseโ€ฆ so I thought it would be a great day for a giveaway- itโ€™s been a while since weโ€™ve had one of those over here!

After reading the comments on yesterdayโ€™s YouTube fitness post, I remembered that many of you also enjoy working out at home, so I thought Iโ€™d share one of my favorite at-home workouts with a blog friend:

image image

Winnerโ€™s choice: Insanity or Turbofire

You can read my reviews in the links above and decide whether you would prefer a drill-based high-impact workout, or a dance meets kickbox high-energy workout. It makes it even harder to choose because Shaun T. is fun and verryyyy nice to look at, and Chalene is a firecracker of motivation and energy.

All ya have to do:

-Leave a comment with your favorite at-home workout option

(If itโ€™s your first time commenting, Iโ€™ll be approving those throughout the day, so no worries if it doesnโ€™t show up right away)

This giveaway is sponsored by Livi and Bella- the winner will be chosen tonight at midnight EST and announced tomorrow am.

To sweeten the deal:

roons

Hope you have an amazing humpday!

See ya later with a Family post.

xoxo

  2. Meagan on March 7, 2012 at 3:25 pm

When I workout at home, I use my TuneTime App on my iphone to create a 60 minute long, 1 minute interval playlist. I alternate between cardio moves like jumping jacks, and using dumbbells or my body weight to do muscle building moves.

  3. *Andrea* on March 7, 2012 at 3:25 pm

i love Jillian Michaels’ DVDs… they are high intensity and can be quick and effective!

  4. Victoria on March 7, 2012 at 3:27 pm

I love Garretts! I would love to try Turbo Fire since I already have the Insanity DVDs. I have a space set up in my garage, padded floor, fan, etc., Once I go out there to do a workout I tell my self I can’t go back in till it’s done. I’m easily distracted at home so that’s how I stay on track.

  6. Sylvia on March 7, 2012 at 3:28 pm

    Hi Gina!

  7. Tamara on March 7, 2012 at 3:29 pm

I love using my elliptical at home. Because my daughter has a disability I need to check on her frequently and with the ell I can hop off and on quickly!

  8. Tia @ Veggies and Pearls on March 7, 2012 at 3:29 pm

I really like to do bodyweight plyometrics. Jump squats, walking lunges, pushups, good ol’ fashioned moves that work on power and explosiveness. =)

  9. Cortney on March 7, 2012 at 3:29 pm

Wow! This is perfect timing. I just started reading PUSH by Chalene Johnson last night and would LOVE to have her Turbo Fire DVDs to use in conjunction with the 30 Day challenge in the book ๐Ÿ™‚ I have a six month old son and right now the gym is just not as feasible as it use to be, but I still really love working out! The Turbo Fire DVDs would help me take it to the next level

I am usually too shy to comment on blogs that I read regularly but this one really spoke to me ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Katheryn on March 7, 2012 at 3:32 pm

I like doing most anything at home. I’m 7 months pregnant right now with #3, and am sometimes too tired to drag myself to the gym, so it’s nice having a couple cardio dvd’s, prenatal yoga, dvd, and some hand weights at home so I can still get a workout in. I would love to win one of these. Especially to help me get back to myself after baby boy is born.

  13. Sarah on March 7, 2012 at 3:33 pm

Jillian Michaels is nice because she has quick workouts that get my heartrate up!

  19. Lisa G on March 7, 2012 at 3:35 pm

I love doing my Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Bootcamp Dvd! It may not sound difficult but those girls work really hard! It’s a challenging workout. It’s how I learned to love/hate burpees! Takes me back to my cheerleading/dance days working out with the team, ha!

  20. Amanda on March 7, 2012 at 3:37 pm

I enjoy doing the Nike training club app from my phone at home.

  21. Katie on March 7, 2012 at 3:38 pm

When I workout at home (which is not too common) I like โ€œOn Demand Fitness T.V. channelsโ€. Itโ€™s nice to try different workouts in the comfort of your own home where you donโ€™t have to be self-conscious. I can get in the habbit of doing the same workout over and over and need more diversity in my life. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day Gina and family!
(hehe woops I posted this comment on your post from yesterday.)

  25. Rachel (Alive in the Fire) on March 7, 2012 at 3:40 pm

Would looooove to try TurboFire! Lately my workouts consist of yoga in my living room, jump rope in the courtyard outside my apartment building, biking to and from work, and the occasional dance party / Bodyrock video. I’m also planning to get back into regular yoga at a local studio.

Thanks for featuring this giveaway! XO

  26. Jessica on March 7, 2012 at 3:40 pm

  28. Sameera on March 7, 2012 at 3:42 pm

  33. Courtney B on March 7, 2012 at 3:43 pm

My favorite workout to do at home is to play volleyball outside ๐Ÿ™‚ But seeing as that’s not really an option right about now :(….. I usually end up doing some free weights and running on the treadmill. Not very exciting, but it gets the job done.

  34. Zippsgal on March 7, 2012 at 3:44 pm

I am just beginning in my workout adventure so I must say that I enjoy a long brisk walk with my puppy.

  35. Sarah on March 7, 2012 at 3:44 pm

  43. Emily on March 7, 2012 at 3:49 pm

My favorite at home workout is a circuit that I found in an oxygen magazine. Its for building a better booty! ๐Ÿ™‚

  44. Freja on March 7, 2012 at 3:50 pm

I have a crappy old treadmill that I got from a yard sale 10 years ago ($50!!). I don’t dare to run on it, but I take 1-hour walks on it whenever snow confines me to my house.

  45. Alexandra Fitzmorris on March 7, 2012 at 3:50 pm

Geez louise! Already over 1000 comments?!
Anyhow, my favorite workout is one where I feel totally exhausted at the end; a great yoga session or a run and interval training. Crossfit can be great as well!

  46. Brittany @ L'รฉpice de la vie on March 7, 2012 at 3:50 pm

I just started Jillian Michaels: Body Revolution and I LOVE IT! I’m seeing such amazing changes and the workouts are so fun! She is a great motivator and I really enjoy her positive encouragement when my butt is on FIYAH and I just want to quit. She helps you remember WHY you’re doing this. To quote the DVD, “When you know the “WHY” you can handle any “HOW””

    <3
Also, Garrett's Popcorn!!!!!! My dad and I are HUGE fans! On our last trip to Chicago, we woke up early to get to the store just as it opened. Popcorn for breakfast, yes please!!

  47. Courtney (greeneyedrunner) on March 7, 2012 at 3:50 pm
