Donโ€™t you love when something totally unexpected makes your day a little brighter?

moon

(Gorgeous full moon last night! Now if only I knew how to make my camera photograph it like an actual moon instead of a dot, thatโ€™d be kinda cool)

Well, thatโ€™s what happened yesterday ๐Ÿ™‚

package

First I was excited to see a package that didnโ€™t have the Amazon smiley face on it โ€“those tend to pop up over here pretty frequently- and then I saw โ€œperishable foodโ€ and things got even more ridic.

cookies5

A package of Chicago foodie goodies from our good friends Mara and Adam ๐Ÿ™‚

Carolโ€™s cookies, Garrettโ€™s popcorn and a deep dish pizza. No words.

I couldnโ€™t open the popcorn fast enoughโ€ฆ.

and put the pizza in the oven, just in time for the Pilot to get home from work.

Random acts of kindness are truly amazing, and whenever someone does something nice for me, it makes me want to share the positive energy with someone elseโ€ฆ so I thought it would be a great day for a giveaway- itโ€™s been a while since weโ€™ve had one of those over here!

After reading the comments on yesterdayโ€™s YouTube fitness post, I remembered that many of you also enjoy working out at home, so I thought Iโ€™d share one of my favorite at-home workouts with a blog friend:

image image

Winnerโ€™s choice: Insanity or Turbofire

You can read my reviews in the links above and decide whether you would prefer a drill-based high-impact workout, or a dance meets kickbox high-energy workout. It makes it even harder to choose because Shaun T. is fun and verryyyy nice to look at, and Chalene is a firecracker of motivation and energy.

All ya have to do:

-Leave a comment with your favorite at-home workout option

(If itโ€™s your first time commenting, Iโ€™ll be approving those throughout the day, so no worries if it doesnโ€™t show up right away)

This giveaway is sponsored by Livi and Bella- the winner will be chosen tonight at midnight EST and announced tomorrow am.

To sweeten the deal:

roons

Hope you have an amazing humpday!

See ya later with a Family post.

xoxo

I enjoy fitness TV as well as the rowing machine. Yay for Jillian Michaels!

  2. Gabi S. on March 7, 2012 at 3:54 pm

Hi Gina! Wow…awesome giveaway! My personal favorite way to workout at home is P90X (my favorite so far!) followed by a looong walk with my 2 big doggies, to get me some good cardio and help them get their wiggles out at the same time. Plus, I get some solid outside time guaranteed before work (at a hospital, not a lot of outside there). Thanks for doing this awesome giveaway…I would LOVE to try Insanity! Shaun T is yummy…

  3. Lucy on March 7, 2012 at 3:54 pm

This is an amazing giveaway! Thank you! I usually do workout videos if I am at home, and have been very curious about these two. It’d be awesome to win either!

  4. Nicole on March 7, 2012 at 3:55 pm

There is nothing like 2o minutes of shredding with Jillian! Your heart rate increases, you drip sweat, curse and swear, but feel fabulous after! I look forward to trying your recommendations once this baby comes and have the go ahead to work out again!

  5. Meghan Fryer on March 7, 2012 at 3:55 pm

OMG! I would LOVE the TurboFire! I have her other workouts, TurboJam, and love them! My favorite at home work out is racing my stepkids around. I recently got married and my husband had three kids, ages 6,7, and 9. Running and practicing their many activities is a blast and definitely a workout!

  6. Kath on March 7, 2012 at 3:55 pm

My favorite at home work out videos are still the old school Abs and Buns of Steel!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Mashhood on March 7, 2012 at 3:55 pm

Gina, what an amazing giveaway!! The “Butt Bible” workouts on Comcast On Demand are amazing and are my favorite ones to do at home! 30 minutes of TOUGH work and you’re done!

  8. greenbean on March 7, 2012 at 3:56 pm

a quick circuit does the trick and the fast pace keeps it moving

  9. Allison on March 7, 2012 at 3:56 pm

Workout DVDs for sure! I just tried the Brazilian Butt Lift version that my friend had and it was awesome! I’d love to hit up some Turbo Fire or Insanity of my own

  10. JBecca on March 7, 2012 at 3:56 pm

I like to mix it up at home with some P90X, some workouts from Women’s Health and, of course, your circuits that can be done (or modified to be done) at home. I’ve been really interested in TurboFire. I would love to get more ideas for high intensity at home!

  11. Katie on March 7, 2012 at 3:57 pm

I just started month 2 of Insanity and it is BY FAR my favorite at home workout. I feel like I get a better workout than I ever did at the gym! I would LOVE to try Turbo Fire if I actually make it through this month alive ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Jessica on March 7, 2012 at 3:57 pm

I’ve done P90X as well as 30 Day Shred. I tend to be a “follower” and have tried lots of at home workouts suggested by health bloggers. Thank you for the opportunity!

  13. Jeannette on March 7, 2012 at 3:57 pm

What a nice surprise for you! The pizza looks delicious!
My favorite at home workout is my physique 57 DVD! Or doing various moves on a stability ball!
I hope you, the Pilot, and Olivia are doing well! <3

  14. Kathy Martinez on March 7, 2012 at 3:58 pm

I have tried Insanity while deployed in Afghanistan and would love to try Turbofire ( I used to do Turbojam).

  15. Jillian on March 7, 2012 at 3:58 pm

My favorite at home workout is yoga ๐Ÿ™‚ that way nobody can see how ridiculous I look chomping down on my tongue trying to balance!

  16. jacki on March 7, 2012 at 3:59 pm

I try to rotate running on the treadmill with Jillian Michaels workouts on the Wii. I had a back re-injury and I’m hoping rotating workouts will keep all the muscles in tone instead of just running when I was training for a 1/2 last summer. I think the TurboFire would be more my speed than the Insanity. (Thanks for the opportunity Liv and Bella..)

  17. amary on March 7, 2012 at 4:01 pm

I would love to try Turbo Fire! I loved reading your reviews about it..and Shaun T scares me!

  18. Kim on March 7, 2012 at 4:02 pm

if i work out at home i usually do the 30 day shred because its so quick and you’re always sweating at the end!

  19. Katy on March 7, 2012 at 4:02 pm

I love doing yoga at home before bed – it always makes me sleep so much better.

  20. Ruth on March 7, 2012 at 4:03 pm

    You can mail pizza?!?!

I live in an apartment building, and my favourite is going for a swim in the pool downstairs ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. Amanda on March 7, 2012 at 4:05 pm

You weren’t kidding when you said an awesome giveaway! I’d actually LOVE to try Turbo Fire. I completed P90X and was crazy happy about the results, but it wasn’t a lifestyle that I could maintain. I feel like TurboFire workouts would be awesome to mix-and-match into a normal workout regime when the gym feels too far away from home ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, I’m a huge HIIT lover.

  22. Jen on March 7, 2012 at 4:05 pm

My favorite at home work out is yoga, but I would love to try Insanity!!!

  23. Alana on March 7, 2012 at 4:05 pm

I would LOVE to try Turbo Fire! After reading about it here on your blog and my friend who swears by TF, I would be thrilled to have my own copy!

I am a huge fan of Jillian Michaels 30 day shred and of course my daily Wii workouts. Turbo Fire would be a great addition. Thanks Fitnessista!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. Natalie on March 7, 2012 at 4:06 pm

My favorite way to work out at home is either P90X or circuits that can be done in my room.

  26. Shannon on March 7, 2012 at 4:06 pm

I love doing The Biggest Loser DVD workouts at home!

  27. Kayla on March 7, 2012 at 4:06 pm

Since I am at the fitness center most of my day, I love going home and doing my own workout outside of work. Body weight & HIT workouts are my favorite and many times I use BodyRock to give me some ideas! I would love to try Turbo Fire!

  28. Michelle on March 7, 2012 at 4:06 pm

I’m not the biggest fan of working out at home because I don’t have a treadmill. But I will do the occasional 1.5hrs on the stationary bike (non-upright) on cross training days.

  29. Allison on March 7, 2012 at 4:07 pm

I used some Jillian Michael’s videos to get back into pre-baby shape along with an occasional P90x session with my husband, however I like cardio and resistance together better than straight on weight training. My body responds better to it, and plus you burn more calories that way. Bodyrock is good – so it walking around my neighborhood with my daughter. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  30. Emily on March 7, 2012 at 4:07 pm

My favorite at home workout is anything Jillian. But I would LOVE to try either of these!

  31. Meagan on March 7, 2012 at 4:07 pm

I love doing Jillian Michaels workouts at home – no matter how quick I’m always sweaty and sore after!

  33. Allison on March 7, 2012 at 4:08 pm

I have dumbbells and a jump rope at home. Lifting weights followed by some HIIT is my favorite.

  34. Emily N on March 7, 2012 at 4:09 pm

I enjoy doing a circuit workout at home with jumping jacks, pushups, situps, high knees, side to side jumps. Really any exercise I think I can do in my living room without making too much noise for the people in the apartment below me ๐Ÿ˜‰

  35. Catherine on March 7, 2012 at 4:09 pm

What an amazing giveaway! I like doing yoga at home.

I really loved doing P90x that has got to be my favorite at home workout but because it is so time consuming I never finish it **sigh*** I would love love love to try Insanity !

  38. Andrea B. on March 7, 2012 at 4:10 pm

Lately, running on the treadmill has been my go to “at home” workout, but I have a decent amount of workout videos as well.

  39. Mac on March 7, 2012 at 4:10 pm

Omb the famous macaroons return! My favortite at home workout is either a self made boot camp or yoga.

I love working out from home! Favorites – Jillian Michaels videos and yoga videos. Would love to try one of the Beachbody workouts to get in shape after having a baby 9 months ago. Your little girl is adorable!

  43. Brett Marie on March 7, 2012 at 4:12 pm

You got me hooked on TurboFire….it is now my fave at-home workout ,hands down. My hubs also bought us a treadmill which is great during cold Germany winters. I have been dying to try INsanity, so fingers crossed!!

  44. Sandy on March 7, 2012 at 4:13 pm

  47. Ashley on March 7, 2012 at 4:17 pm

Yoga is my absolute favorite at home workout – all you need is a mat! Though I did just get my husband the TRX ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m 32 weeks pregnant so I haven’t started using it yet but hope to once I’m cleared for working out after the baby is born.

  48. Rachael on March 7, 2012 at 4:17 pm

  49. Kai on March 7, 2012 at 4:18 pm

My fav home workout is anything from the amazing bodyrock.tv site!!! Always wanted to try insanity though

  50. Emily on March 7, 2012 at 4:18 pm

Currently my favorite at-home workout option is Tracey Mallet’s Booty Barre DVD series. I like it because it encourages light weight and a high number ofrepa. I find that when I strength train at the gym I use heavy weights and a smaller number of reps because I like to feel the burn right away. The Booty Barre however encourages you do more reps and really focus on technique, posture and correct Execution of the movements.
It’s also a great way to cross train. She uses a lot of ballet inspired moves during her strength section so your muscles are challenged to move differently than you’re used to, so you really do see results. Her system creates a long lean frame if you stick to it. It is hard though and requires patience, you really can’t rush the movements otherwise you won’t get the results you want! But the best part about her DVDs is that they’re really affordable. About $15 each, and if you’re in a rush just pick which sections fit into your schedule. I suggest you try it! It’s loads of fun!
