Donโ€™t you love when something totally unexpected makes your day a little brighter?

moon

(Gorgeous full moon last night! Now if only I knew how to make my camera photograph it like an actual moon instead of a dot, thatโ€™d be kinda cool)

Well, thatโ€™s what happened yesterday ๐Ÿ™‚

package

First I was excited to see a package that didnโ€™t have the Amazon smiley face on it โ€“those tend to pop up over here pretty frequently- and then I saw โ€œperishable foodโ€ and things got even more ridic.

cookies5

A package of Chicago foodie goodies from our good friends Mara and Adam ๐Ÿ™‚

Carolโ€™s cookies, Garrettโ€™s popcorn and a deep dish pizza. No words.

I couldnโ€™t open the popcorn fast enoughโ€ฆ.

and put the pizza in the oven, just in time for the Pilot to get home from work.

Random acts of kindness are truly amazing, and whenever someone does something nice for me, it makes me want to share the positive energy with someone elseโ€ฆ so I thought it would be a great day for a giveaway- itโ€™s been a while since weโ€™ve had one of those over here!

After reading the comments on yesterdayโ€™s YouTube fitness post, I remembered that many of you also enjoy working out at home, so I thought Iโ€™d share one of my favorite at-home workouts with a blog friend:

image image

Winnerโ€™s choice: Insanity or Turbofire

You can read my reviews in the links above and decide whether you would prefer a drill-based high-impact workout, or a dance meets kickbox high-energy workout. It makes it even harder to choose because Shaun T. is fun and verryyyy nice to look at, and Chalene is a firecracker of motivation and energy.

All ya have to do:

-Leave a comment with your favorite at-home workout option

(If itโ€™s your first time commenting, Iโ€™ll be approving those throughout the day, so no worries if it doesnโ€™t show up right away)

This giveaway is sponsored by Livi and Bella- the winner will be chosen tonight at midnight EST and announced tomorrow am.

To sweeten the deal:

roons

Hope you have an amazing humpday!

See ya later with a Family post.

xoxo

I like doing Rachhfit YouTube videos at home, and also interval youtube videos…so quick and easy ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Sarah on March 7, 2012 at 8:41 pm

I love doing free weights at home! Super easy, and I can do a quick work out in my bedroom. Nothing more convenient than breaking a sweat in my pajamas:)

  3. Rachel on March 7, 2012 at 8:44 pm

I like doing yoga dvds at home!

  4. Krystal Rozeboom on March 7, 2012 at 8:47 pm

I started my journey to being healthy four years ago. It was jump started with Turbo Jam- two times a day. Now I have learned a lot more differerent types of excersise and mix it up frequently. If I can’t drag myself to the gym I still go back to my DVD’s with Chalene for a reminder of how far I have come and to have the positive reminders of how great it feels to workout. I’ve always wanted to try Turbo Fire, maybe it will get me over my platue!

  5. Dale on March 7, 2012 at 8:47 pm

Ooh, this is a great giveaway! Right now my favorite at-home workout is anything from yogadownload.com!

  6. michelle on March 7, 2012 at 8:48 pm

I have been enjoying Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. It kicks my butt.

  7. Lauren on March 7, 2012 at 8:48 pm

My favorite at home work out at the moment is a toss up between Insanity and dancing around the house with my kids, BUT I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to win turbofire!!! I have been wanting to purchase it for a long time, but keep telling myself no ๐Ÿ™
    P.S. I love your blog!!

I like to use my wii fit for workout!

  9. Diane on March 7, 2012 at 8:50 pm

I love doing stretches and yoga – sooooo relaxing!

  10. Lori on March 7, 2012 at 8:50 pm

I just started following your blog and I’m addicted!! You have so much great fitness and food information that I can’t wait to check your daily post, thank you!

My favorite at home workout program is ChaLean Extreme. Like you, I love ChaLean and how positive and motivating she is! I started her program and clean eating in January 2010 and have never looked back. To this day I still do two of the dvds in her program, Burn It Off and Burn Intervals, to supplement my weight training and Bikram Yoga. There both great cardio videos and so much fun that I never get sick of them! I have Turbo Fire and I haven’t gotten into it as much, and I think it’s because of the dance moves and I get frustrated trying to get it down. I’ve been intrigued with Insanity and would love to be your winner…although I already feel like I am with discovering your blog and learning so much that you share with all of us!

  11. Verhanika on March 7, 2012 at 8:51 pm

My favorite at home workout is Bob Harper’s Ultimate Cardio Workout. It’s actually a ton of strength training and leaves me SORE for days afterwards. Love me some Bob!

  12. alicia on March 7, 2012 at 8:51 pm

Oh wow!! I have been wanting to try either of these programs so badly since I’ve heard you speak such rave reviews about them!!! My favorite at home workout would be dance-cleaning my house while blaring music!!! Can’t really get away with singing at the top of your lungs at the gym! : )

  13. Beth on March 7, 2012 at 8:54 pm

My favorite at home work out is Jillian’s 30 Day Shred, it’s quick and tough!! I’d love to try Insanity though!

  14. Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon on March 7, 2012 at 8:55 pm

I usually opt for a circuit workout of some sort or at home yoga!

  15. Allyson on March 7, 2012 at 8:56 pm

My fav at home workout is Get Fit With Mel B on the Wii Fit…Scary Spice knows how to give me a killer workout ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Raegan on March 7, 2012 at 8:56 pm

I am 22 weeks pregnant and these days my favorite home workout is a nice long walk! Before I was pregnant, I loved to do tabata style workouts with a mix of lunges, squats, pushups, jumping jacks, etc. Hopefully, once my little boy gets here I can get back to that! ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Karina on March 7, 2012 at 8:59 pm

My favorite at-home workouts are yoga and pilates.

  18. Tage on March 7, 2012 at 9:01 pm

This is my FIRST Fitnessista comment ๐Ÿ™‚
My favorite at home workout is boxing with my dad in his makeshift home gym! He kicks my bootay! But I’ve been wanting to try Insanity & Turbofire for a while now! I haven’t had the guts to order it so maybe a giveway is just the motivation and Shaun T can really kick my booty!! I also drool over pictures of your macaroons and I think it’s about time I’ve tasted them!!!

  19. Lauren on March 7, 2012 at 9:03 pm

I would love to try Insanity! My baby is six months old and I owe my post baby body to Chalene and TurboFire. I bought TirboFire to try at home to get back in shape based on your review and would love to mix things up and get past my current plateau with Insanity. Thanks for hosting ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Samme on March 7, 2012 at 9:03 pm

My favorite at-home workout is Jillian Michael’s No More Trouble Zones…it is HARD and a perfect 50 minute, full-body workout!

  21. Lynn S on March 7, 2012 at 9:03 pm

Although not necessarily a “workout”, I love dancing to Just Dance 2 on the Wii as my workout!

  22. Julia on March 7, 2012 at 9:03 pm

For me, my at home workouts usually consist of routine’s from Toneitup, POP Pilates by Cassey, or the Nike app. I would love to try out turbofire!!! I already considered buying if for myself after I read your five star review on it. It would be a great way to jumpstart into the spring. ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. samantha on March 7, 2012 at 9:05 pm

I would love to win either DVD – I think the Insanity would be my choice though – to get back into shape after I have my baby in August. My favorite at home workout options is taking walks outside with my 6 year old when the weather is nice! ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. Kristen on March 7, 2012 at 9:06 pm

Oops! Sorry about that previous comment! My favorite at-home workout is Xtend Barre and anything by Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels. Sometimes those videos are harder than the gym!

  26. Linda B on March 7, 2012 at 9:07 pm

I usually do workouts from Netflix, but I’ve also been using my iPhone with an app called Workout Trainer by Skimble. I pick the workouts, schedule them with reminders, and then it’ll walk you through them while you listen to your own tunes from your playlists.

  27. Natalie on March 7, 2012 at 9:08 pm

So fun, thank you!! You had me at macaroon! I love a good circuit workout in the living room to the Pandora 80s Pop Radio Station!

  28. Liz on March 7, 2012 at 9:08 pm

I love P90X, but I’m ready for something new!

  29. MC on March 7, 2012 at 9:11 pm

I love running outside or throwing in a Jillian Michaels DVD when I want to take a break from the gym. I’m looking to diversify my collection and would love to check out Charlene’s DVD set.

  30. Vanessa on March 7, 2012 at 9:11 pm

I love bodyrock, running, and I actually enjoyed following P90X at home…I set a time each day and it was like my “going to the gym”…I was committed. Now I just find that when I switch it up I am always interested…I have been dying to try Turbofire! Thanks for the giveaway ๐Ÿ™‚

My favorite is my wii fit. Time goes by quickly and it’s fun!

  32. Karen on March 7, 2012 at 9:14 pm

My favorite at home workout is Jillian Michaels 30 say shred!

  33. Amanda on March 7, 2012 at 9:14 pm

I did P90X and I would love to try either one of those workouts. We have a treadmill so I’ve been running as well. I’ve been contemplating a 1/2 marathon in October (I was going to wait until April 2013, but I don’t think I need to).

  34. Maddy on March 7, 2012 at 9:15 pm

At home my choice is the treadmill! Not the most exciting I know but So effective!

  35. jessica on March 7, 2012 at 9:16 pm

P90x is my favorite at home workout. I’d like to try turbofire, but I’m also intrigued by P90X2, which I think I’m going to have to bite the bullet & buy.

  36. andrea on March 7, 2012 at 9:17 pm

I loved exercise TV…I’ll admit, I dont work out as home nearly as much without it!

  37. Liz on March 7, 2012 at 9:17 pm

I love working out to bodyrock but was just thinking about trying insanity!

  38. Maria on March 7, 2012 at 9:18 pm

I have both of these DVD sets already so I’m not commenting to win….I just want to say that I love that someone sent you a Chicago “care package” and that you got to experience the caramel/cheddar mix while the pilot enjoyed some yummy Chicago style pizza. That’s so awesome!

  39. Pamela on March 7, 2012 at 9:19 pm

P90x Yoga! Great burn and intense yoga sesh ๐Ÿ™‚

  40. Leea on March 7, 2012 at 9:22 pm

I love turbo fire. It’s my go to cardio workout when I need to relieve some stress.

  41. Laura J on March 7, 2012 at 9:23 pm

I like doing tabatas or running at home. For total workouts, I like looking up moves from the Women’s Health app on my phone and Prevention.com. Now that I’ve admitted that, I really hope I win because I sound laaaaaaame. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  42. Michelle Love on March 7, 2012 at 9:23 pm

My boyfriend got me a jump rope for Christmas and I have been using the heck out of it! Great for cardio sessions when I can’t make it to the gym!

  43. Claire on March 7, 2012 at 9:24 pm

I love the treadmill. I know it’s not at everyone’s house, but I’m lucky to have one at mine and I don’t know what I’d do without it!

  44. Alyssa W on March 7, 2012 at 9:24 pm

Now that I’ve accumulated a few basics (weights, resistance bands, step) I love doing the barry’s bootcamp dvds at home. I’m addicted to taking classes right now in NYC, but I bought the DVDs in preparation for when I leave in May and move back to CA. You should definitely put down taking a class on your to do list. I think you would love it!

    • Fitnessista on March 8, 2012 at 12:34 am

      i think i would, too!

  45. Denise on March 7, 2012 at 9:25 pm

I absolutely looooove Turbofire but Insanity has been on my radar to try as well.

  46. Calana on March 7, 2012 at 9:25 pm

I like doing Pop Pilates and Tone It Up workouts at home ๐Ÿ™‚ P90x and Jillian workouts get thrown in there every once in a while too.

  47. Katie @ Pop Culture Cuisine on March 7, 2012 at 9:26 pm

Since having our little girl Jillian Michaels workouts have been my best friend, easy to do while she is sleeping, and effective. They are also great because they are a cheaper alternative to a lot of home workouts out there…but currently Yoga Meltdown in my fav!

  48. tiffany apana on March 7, 2012 at 9:27 pm

Island girl hula work outs on youtube!!

  49. Alison Hillard on March 7, 2012 at 9:27 pm
