Don’t you love when something totally unexpected makes your day a little brighter?

moon

(Gorgeous full moon last night! Now if only I knew how to make my camera photograph it like an actual moon instead of a dot, that’d be kinda cool)

Well, that’s what happened yesterday 🙂

package

First I was excited to see a package that didn’t have the Amazon smiley face on it –those tend to pop up over here pretty frequently- and then I saw “perishable food” and things got even more ridic.

cookies5

A package of Chicago foodie goodies from our good friends Mara and Adam 🙂

Carol’s cookies, Garrett’s popcorn and a deep dish pizza. No words.

I couldn’t open the popcorn fast enough….

and put the pizza in the oven, just in time for the Pilot to get home from work.

Random acts of kindness are truly amazing, and whenever someone does something nice for me, it makes me want to share the positive energy with someone else… so I thought it would be a great day for a giveaway- it’s been a while since we’ve had one of those over here!

After reading the comments on yesterday’s YouTube fitness post, I remembered that many of you also enjoy working out at home, so I thought I’d share one of my favorite at-home workouts with a blog friend:

image image

Winner’s choice: Insanity or Turbofire

You can read my reviews in the links above and decide whether you would prefer a drill-based high-impact workout, or a dance meets kickbox high-energy workout. It makes it even harder to choose because Shaun T. is fun and verryyyy nice to look at, and Chalene is a firecracker of motivation and energy.

All ya have to do:

-Leave a comment with your favorite at-home workout option

(If it’s your first time commenting, I’ll be approving those throughout the day, so no worries if it doesn’t show up right away)

This giveaway is sponsored by Livi and Bella- the winner will be chosen tonight at midnight EST and announced tomorrow am.

To sweeten the deal:

roons

Hope you have an amazing humpday!

See ya later with a Family post.

xoxo

I’ve been dying to try Turbo Fire, I have Turbo Jam and would love to amp it up with the Fire.

I recently started a HIIT bootcamp, and am looking for some thing to follow up at home with.

  2. Amber on March 7, 2012 at 11:15 am

At home I pretty much do Jillian 3o day shred, yoga moves, or a legs circuit similar to your leap year legs! (no leg presses at home.) I’ve tried Zumba on youtube, but it lacks the atmosphere of my lively zumba class at the gym!
These videos look awesome, Bella and Livi sure know how to host a giveaway!

  3. Sara on March 7, 2012 at 11:15 am

I am an elliptical girl but I have always wanted to try insanity.

  4. Olivia on March 7, 2012 at 11:15 am

Thanks to you, I have recently gotten into zumba! I don’t have the DVD’s and I would love to have turbofire in my dorm room for a convenient workout option!

  5. Addie on March 7, 2012 at 11:15 am

I just started doing some work outs at home (besides the usual push ups and crunches). I’ve been watching some of the Tone It Up videos online which have been a great addition to my marathon training.

  6. Morgan on March 7, 2012 at 11:15 am

I love yoga at home..especially since I have no idea what I am doing when I do it 🙂 I need me some Turbofiahhhh!!!

  7. Amy on March 7, 2012 at 11:15 am

At home I like bodyrocktv and just doing body weight exercises like lunges and squats. I would love to try turbo fire!

  8. Jeana on March 7, 2012 at 11:16 am

My favorite workout option is using my own exercise bike and using my body weight as weights. It helps build my core and I don’t have to worry about a gym membership!

  9. Anna on March 7, 2012 at 11:16 am

I have a 2 month old baby so working out at home is going to have to become more frequent. Yesterday I tried out a few of the YouTube workouts you posted and loved them! I would use and love either of these sets.

  10. Holly on March 7, 2012 at 11:16 am

I love Bodyrock! I also like to pull out the jumprope for some good cardio!

  11. Jamie M. on March 7, 2012 at 11:16 am

I have wanted to get Turbofire for ages after seeing it on your blog! Unfortunately, as a college student, it’s not quite in my budget yet 😉

For now, I love being old school and doing Tae Bo! I’ve had the DVD for a long time, but it still gives me a great workout when I don’t feel like going to the gym.

  12. Katie on March 7, 2012 at 11:16 am

I would love to try either of those! I live in a tiny dorm room so I tend to do yoga (which involved banging my limbs on everything)!

  13. Liz @ Southern Charm on March 7, 2012 at 11:16 am

I love doing yogadownload.com and more recently some of the Tone It Up workouts at home!

I would LOVE the try TurboFire!! I’m always looking for some new cardio routines 🙂

  14. nicole on March 7, 2012 at 11:16 am

Hi Gina! Thanks for the giveaway, what a nice surprise for this gloomy Wed. My favorite at home workouts is one of your workouts..I choose a few things from your Fitness page to do over the lunch hour. I also like to Jullian Micheals (No more Trouble Zones) and Jackie Warner’s (Xtreme Time Saver Training) DVDs.
I’d love to try Turbofire and your macaroons always look amazing =)

  15. Megan S. on March 7, 2012 at 11:16 am

For Christmas my fiancee got me a trainer for my bike. Now, I can ride my bike in the living room when it’s negative 10 and snowing!

  16. lauren salak on March 7, 2012 at 11:16 am

believe it or not, my best and favorite at home work out is jogging on my mini trampoline! while watching any reality show on E!, of course 🙂

  17. Stephanie on March 7, 2012 at 11:16 am

I like Jillian Michaels’ DVDs! Most of the time I head to the gym or out for a run, but sometimes I just need something a little different. The best part is most of her stuff is circuit workouts – only a few minutes of each move and then it’s on to the next!

  18. Sherrie Fennell on March 7, 2012 at 11:16 am

I love Leslie Sansone walk away the pounds right after I have babies, and Zumba DVDs and definitely the X factor similiar to px 90…

  19. Meggie on March 7, 2012 at 11:17 am

I love doing resistance band work-outs and yoga podcasts at home. I have always wanted to try TurboFire- what a great giveaway!

  20. Maggie on March 7, 2012 at 11:17 am

I’m in college so I have 4 roommates and a tiny tiny bedroom. But when I first moved in I arranged the furniture in this ity bity room to fit a yoga mat. Now whenever I’m needing a little me time I lay out my mat and put on a yogamazing podcast.

I’d like to get more into working out at home though- something that all of my roommates could do together! (luckily we have a big living room)

  21. Kalyn on March 7, 2012 at 11:17 am

INSANITY! You can’t go wrong with sweating it up, being home and getting to look at Shawn T! 😉

  22. kandi on March 7, 2012 at 11:17 am

I love doing the biggest loser last minute workout. It’s only 25 minutes but 5 circuits so it goes so fast! You barely have time to catch your breath.

  23. Clare on March 7, 2012 at 11:17 am

I’m a fan of Jillian Michael’s DVDs, but have always wanted to try insanity, p90x, or turbo fire!

  24. Amy on March 7, 2012 at 11:17 am

Love your blog! My favorite at home workout is Jillian’s 30 day shred.

  25. Sarah @ See Sarah Eat on March 7, 2012 at 11:17 am

My favorite at-home workout option is Exercise TV which I can get through my On Demand program (cable). I like it because if I’m stuck at home and I don’t know what I feel like doing for a workout they have so many options from cardio to strength training, dance, yoga, etc. But I would love to try one of those two very popular DVD series too 🙂 Thanks!

  26. Allison W on March 7, 2012 at 11:17 am

My workouts at home usually consist of walking and hiking with the dogs! It’s easy and the dogs have come to love it and give me a guilt trip if we’re late going! I’d love to try Insanity and convince the man to do it with me!

  27. Katie on March 7, 2012 at 11:18 am

My favorite way to workout when I’m at home is to leave my house and go running! I would love to incorporate more strength training into my workout though- I think I’ll go for the Insanity DVD out of the two! Thanks -K

  28. Suzi @ Confessions of a Fitness Instructor on March 7, 2012 at 11:18 am

Gina you are always so incredibly generous!

Since I get loads of cardio in teaching classes, my fav at home workouts are Yoga and Strength training

  29. Courtney @ geekista on March 7, 2012 at 11:18 am

I just did Jillian Michael’s 30 day shred last night for the first time in forever and it is still my favorite at home workout!

  30. Heather K. on March 7, 2012 at 11:18 am

I LOVE Turbofire! I am pregnant now so I haven’t been doing it but I would love to start it up again this summer! Last time I did it was with my roommate in college when she purchased it. I would love to have a copy of my own! =)

  31. Alisha on March 7, 2012 at 11:18 am

I usually lift with my 8 and 15 lb dumbells- complete with circuit exercises (planks, jumping lunges, wall sits, squats, jumping jacks, bun lifts, jump rope etc). My fiance and I also like to use our pull up bar and exercise ball, too. I love that I have the option of working at home if the weather is too crummy to leave the house! 😉

  32. Angela on March 7, 2012 at 11:18 am

My Favorite at home workout option at the moment is Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. My son is 14 months and I just recently went back to work. Between work and taking care of my son and the fact that my husband has been gone going on 38 days I don’t have alot of “me” time during my day…so the 25 min workout allows me to get it done and on the days I’m too tired i remind myself – its only 25 min and I’m worth it!

  33. sarah on March 7, 2012 at 11:18 am

I love bodyrock and yoga for at home/hotel workouts! They always make me feel like I’ve had a productive day

  34. Naomi on March 7, 2012 at 11:18 am

For at home workouts I like to do pilates, but I would love to try TurboFire!! 🙂

  35. Katy on March 7, 2012 at 11:18 am

I honestly rarely do anything at home! Does running count? Maybe yoga videos.

  36. Jackie Carpenter on March 7, 2012 at 11:18 am

I love doing yoga and pilates at home in my living room along with Excercise channel or YouTube. Another new one I jus started working out at home with is the Nike Training Club app on my phone.

  37. Sarah on March 7, 2012 at 11:18 am

I love running outside, but when I am indoors at home I love doing Zumba on the Wii!!!!

  38. Jen @nutcaseinpoint on March 7, 2012 at 11:18 am

You had me at dance-meets-kickboxing. I taught something similar before I moved and I’m hoping to bring it to my new gym! For now, I’m trying to do it at home 🙂

  39. Cathy on March 7, 2012 at 11:19 am

Right now my favs are my beginners yoga dvds and 10min Trainer (same guy to made P90x).

  40. Laural on March 7, 2012 at 11:19 am

I love doing Jillian Michaels’ 30-Day Shred. Quick. Painful (the good kind). And gets the job done!!!

My boyfriend and I have been talking about trying Insanity for awhile now! Thanks for a great contest!

  41. Nikki on March 7, 2012 at 11:19 am

Well, my favorite is generally a good old treadmill workout. But, I have been dying to try insanity!

  42. Kate on March 7, 2012 at 11:19 am

I love TurboJam: Punch, Kick & Jam. It’s an oldie but a goodie! I’ve been dying to try the TurboFire dvds but haven’t wanted to part with the money. Great giveaway!!

  43. Courtney on March 7, 2012 at 11:19 am

Amazing giveaway, you’re the best!! Right now, I’m loving yoga for at home but I’ve had my eye on both of those workout systems for when I’m done training for my 1/2 mary! While I think Insanity would be great, I think I’d like to get back into “dance-y” type workouts with Turbofire!

  44. Ali on March 7, 2012 at 11:19 am

I love insanity, but would really like to start zumba, but I’m pretty awkward when it comes to dancing ;). Turbofire would be a great option to start with!

  45. Susanna S. on March 7, 2012 at 11:19 am

I love doing circuit workouts and fun things on Youtube!

  46. MaryC on March 7, 2012 at 11:19 am

Thank you for doing this giveaway! I’m expecting (27wks) and starting to crave the time when I can run and work out harder again…as much as I enjoy the lazy time, I miss it! Currently I use a prenatal yoga DVD, the Summer Sanders prenatal workout DVD, and an old Airdyne bike…all a little awkward these days!

  47. Lindsay on March 7, 2012 at 11:19 am

I am not a huge fan of at home workouts but when I do its normally an ab workout or yoga. Would love to try Insanity (have heard great things).

  48. Sara on March 7, 2012 at 11:20 am

My favorite at-home workout is to put on my running belt and run my lab. If I am confined to my home – I love Jillian’s Banish Fat Boost Metabolism hour long DVD. It kicks my butt! I have wanted TurboFire since it came out, so this would be amazing!

  49. Johnna on March 7, 2012 at 11:20 am

I have an entire collection of workout dvd’s including P90X, Insanity and almost all of Jillian Michaels and Jackie Warner’s dvds. I also do bodyrock and exercisetv occasionally. Sometimes I just make stuff up or follow along on various blogs I read. I’ve tried Turbo Fire at a class I used to take and I LOVED it! Would love to have that as an option for home!

  50. Alyssa on March 7, 2012 at 11:20 am

My favorite home workout is Mat Pilates. I feel like it gives me the best workout while still allowing me to slow down and take a breather… of course there are those times when you need to speed things up and for that I would love to entered in the drawing for TurboFire! Thanks for this awesome give away!
