Don’t you love when something totally unexpected makes your day a little brighter?

moon

(Gorgeous full moon last night! Now if only I knew how to make my camera photograph it like an actual moon instead of a dot, that’d be kinda cool)

Well, that’s what happened yesterday 🙂

package

First I was excited to see a package that didn’t have the Amazon smiley face on it –those tend to pop up over here pretty frequently- and then I saw “perishable food” and things got even more ridic.

cookies5

A package of Chicago foodie goodies from our good friends Mara and Adam 🙂

Carol’s cookies, Garrett’s popcorn and a deep dish pizza. No words.

I couldn’t open the popcorn fast enough….

and put the pizza in the oven, just in time for the Pilot to get home from work.

Random acts of kindness are truly amazing, and whenever someone does something nice for me, it makes me want to share the positive energy with someone else… so I thought it would be a great day for a giveaway- it’s been a while since we’ve had one of those over here!

After reading the comments on yesterday’s YouTube fitness post, I remembered that many of you also enjoy working out at home, so I thought I’d share one of my favorite at-home workouts with a blog friend:

image image

Winner’s choice: Insanity or Turbofire

You can read my reviews in the links above and decide whether you would prefer a drill-based high-impact workout, or a dance meets kickbox high-energy workout. It makes it even harder to choose because Shaun T. is fun and verryyyy nice to look at, and Chalene is a firecracker of motivation and energy.

All ya have to do:

-Leave a comment with your favorite at-home workout option

(If it’s your first time commenting, I’ll be approving those throughout the day, so no worries if it doesn’t show up right away)

This giveaway is sponsored by Livi and Bella- the winner will be chosen tonight at midnight EST and announced tomorrow am.

To sweeten the deal:

roons

Hope you have an amazing humpday!

See ya later with a Family post.

xoxo

I still love Jillian Michaels. I always feel the burn!

  2. Melissa on March 7, 2012 at 11:38 am

Usually hit the gym, but as silly as it sounds, I love Wii Fit! I’ve tried Insanity once and many of my friends do it! I want to try Turbo Fire though!

    I Love your blog tons!

  3. Angie on March 7, 2012 at 11:38 am

My fave at-home workout is either Dance Central on XBox (daaance!), or YogaDownload.com. I prefer the audio of yoga, for some reason I can’t stand actual dvd’s of it.

  4. Melissa on March 7, 2012 at 11:39 am

This is so nice! I rarely work out at home and now that I live alone, I really want to. I always run outside but i would love the option of DVDs!

  5. Britt on March 7, 2012 at 11:39 am

I don’t do a lot of home workouts but I do like RandomAbs.com – it generates a new miniature ab workout everyday and no gym is required!

  6. liz on March 7, 2012 at 11:39 am

Favorite at home workouts are the ones i am finding on pinterest right now 🙂 since i am working crazy hours, at home is the way to go for me.

  7. emily on March 7, 2012 at 11:40 am

I go to the gym most days, but if I am at home I like to do yoga or take a walk and do free weights. I have heard great things about Insanity though and have been dying to try it! Thanks!

  8. Kate on March 7, 2012 at 11:40 am

As a mom to two girls under 4 years, at-home workout options are a must for me!! I have an elliptical that I like to use during naptimes, but would love to try Turbo Fire!:) Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  9. Gabby on March 7, 2012 at 11:40 am

I have tried Insanity once and fell in love. I would be so excited to have it at home to do all the time! I do yoga podcasts and weights workouts at home when I cant make it to the gym.

long time reader, first time commenting:)

  10. Alicia on March 7, 2012 at 11:40 am

I like to do yoga at home – I practice Ashtanga, which is a power yoga style. I put on a space heater to really get my sweat-on!

  11. Rachelle on March 7, 2012 at 11:40 am

So far my favorite at home workout has been Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred!

  12. Yvonne on March 7, 2012 at 11:40 am

Zumba on Wii!!! I feel a little silly because I’m not *dance coordinated* but it makes me sweat!!! And any workout that makes me sweat, makes a fan out of me!

  13. Heather H on March 7, 2012 at 11:40 am

My favorite is Jillian Michael’s 30-day shred! I love the intensity and you can adjust it as needed,

  14. Alyssa on March 7, 2012 at 11:40 am

Ever since I lost my 30-day Shred DVD my favorite workouts at home are Tabata style!!

  15. Lindsay on March 7, 2012 at 11:40 am

For the longest time, my favorite at-home workout was Shaun T’s hip hop abs! I too think he’s good to look at 😉 I also like Jillian Michael’s 30 day shred since it’s quick, but is an awesome workout.
I think I’d be interested in trying TurboFire though! It’s intrigued me when you’ve written about it

  16. Samantha on March 7, 2012 at 11:40 am

I found out about Bodyrock workouts from you and have been doing those for my at home workouts! I would love to mix it up with some Insanity!

  17. Lay-j on March 7, 2012 at 11:40 am

I am really enjoying working out at home with the Nike Training Club app at home. It shows and explains how to do each exercise and encourages you. Also you earn points the more you workout, and get different rewards like bonus workouts and recipes. If you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod check it out – and the best part – its FREEE!!!! 🙂

  18. Kate on March 7, 2012 at 11:41 am

I’m normally a cardio/intensity junkie, but I’ve started doing the free yoga routines posted on Yoga Journal after a crappy day at work. They re-set me when I’m completely stressed out!

  19. Lauren on March 7, 2012 at 11:41 am

I love running on my treadmill at home. I have a young daughter and work full time, so going to the gym isn’t an option…but I would love to try turbo fire! 🙂

  20. Lesli on March 7, 2012 at 11:41 am

What a nice giveaway! My current favorite home workout is the Nike Training app. It has tons of awesome interval workouts that range from 15 to 45 minutes, and as you complete workouts, you unlock new ones. Best part – its free!

  21. Lisa@thedailyrundown on March 7, 2012 at 11:41 am

Oh my gosh I would die to win your give away! I am going throug p90x right now and boy oh boy have I heard about insanity!!! I’m loving p90x and it’s def the best at home workout I’ve done!

  22. Kate on March 7, 2012 at 11:41 am

my active recovery day always starts with an hour long stretch-a-thon in the living room with my favorite music playing. i love it because i normally crawl out of bed and straight to the gym so being able to start my day slowly and sans travel time is so refreshing.

  23. Emily on March 7, 2012 at 11:41 am

My favorite at home workout is a toss up between the ToneItUp videos and Nike Training Club App workouts!

  24. Rachelle on March 7, 2012 at 11:41 am

Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred Videos!!!

Now that I have a stress fracture I am looking for videos I can do without having put pressure on my foot 🙁

  25. Melissa on March 7, 2012 at 11:41 am

Great giveaway! My favourite at home workouts are anything by Stott Pilates or Tracy Anderson, but I do also have to share in the love for 30 day shred.

  26. Jessica on March 7, 2012 at 11:42 am

I used to love doing exercise on-demand workouts — there was always such a great variety and I also love P90x. Olivia is adorable…she truly is such a pretty baby! 🙂

  27. tania on March 7, 2012 at 11:42 am

definetly jumping around a la plyometrics with some free weights

  28. Britt on March 7, 2012 at 11:42 am

Amazing giveaway!!!! I love my Bodyrock now, but for a long time I did P90X. I’ve heard incredible things about Insanity!

  29. Annie on March 7, 2012 at 11:42 am

To be honest, I never really work out at home — though one time a few weeks ago, I did some yoga by candlelight and really enjoyed it!!!

  30. Jen Crandall on March 7, 2012 at 11:42 am

I love Lauren Brooks kettlebell workout dvds. I would loooove to try turbofire!!

  31. carrie on March 7, 2012 at 11:42 am

I don’t really have a favorite at home workout, because I’m always looking for a good video! I’ve seen these before but I’ve been scared to try them.

  32. Laura on March 7, 2012 at 11:43 am

I love to do yoga at home from yogatoday.com. I also love the Biggest loser workout, “power sculpt!”

  33. Anna on March 7, 2012 at 11:43 am

I love Insanity. I pop a dvd in whenever I feel lazy and don’t feel like going to the gym!

  34. Pam on March 7, 2012 at 11:43 am

Wow, thanks for the giveaway! The deep dish pizza looks AMAZING btw. I have wanted to try turbofire for a while now! My favourite at-home workout would either be tabata intervals or running (does that count?). I always find it easier to motivate myself for a run because all you have to do is leave your house, run and return. So simple!

  35. Olivia May on March 7, 2012 at 11:43 am

Body Rock! Or Magazine workouts from Oxygen Mag.

  36. Kelsey on March 7, 2012 at 11:43 am

I would have to say callanetics. Old school for sure, but it burns! And the outrageous outfits make for a good laugh 🙂

  37. Holly on March 7, 2012 at 11:43 am

    What an awesome giveaway!

I would LOVE to try Insanity. Sounds amazing.

  38. Lauren on March 7, 2012 at 11:43 am

Oh my gosh, I would LOVE turbofire! I have read your reviews and have always wanted to try it, but the price tag has hindered me from doing so. I have already done Insanity, and woud love to try something new!

  39. Ryane on March 7, 2012 at 11:43 am

I just started getting into at home dvds… never had the space for it or was living in old victorian houses and jumping around the living room made the house shake! haha. So far, I’m loving on Jillian but I don’t know how I could stand doing this same dvd for 30 days… would love to switch it up with Insanity!!

  40. Stephanie on March 7, 2012 at 11:43 am

I don’t really do workouts at home (more of a gym rat kind of girl), but that will change once my sweet baby boy is born in May! I would LOVE to try out Turbo Fire! Oh, and definitely some ‘roons. You just gave me a craving……

  41. Jen on March 7, 2012 at 11:43 am

I find something on demand so it’s always different, I also bike or walk around my hood!

  42. Beth on March 7, 2012 at 11:44 am

Right now, strength training and yoga. I love Chalene, she’s incredibly positive & motivating. :_

  43. Allie o on March 7, 2012 at 11:44 am

I love zuzanna and the body rock workouts!

  44. Heather on March 7, 2012 at 11:44 am

When I was pregnant I loved a Vinyasa Yoga video or Summer Saunders Prenatal. Now with a baby that doesnt like sleeping during the day, I go for blasts of squats, lunges, pushups, and planks whenever I can.

  45. Jessica on March 7, 2012 at 11:44 am

My favorite at home workout that I’m doing right now is Jillian Michael’s 30 day shred. I know she’s somewhat controversial, but I was actually quite surprised with how motivating this DVD is. She does get a little preachy, but I really like that she takes a lot of time to explain proper form and the warm ups are pretty good too (although I’m still on level 1 so I’m not sure about the other levels). I would looove to expand my workout DVD collection though (I only have 2 that I actually use). Thanks Gina!

  46. Zoe on March 7, 2012 at 11:45 am

I love love at home workouts. I really like BodyRock tv and Dave Farmar podcasts. Everyone is always so confused with I’m done with a Dave Farmar workout and dripping with sweat…it’s so satisfying (plus I can do it in my pjs).

    • Zoe on March 7, 2012 at 11:45 am

because I’m a goober…I’ve been meaning to try insanity

  47. Nicole on March 7, 2012 at 11:45 am

My favorite at home workout is running outside! I CANNOT wait to take my little one out in the jogging stroller!

  48. Samantha on March 7, 2012 at 11:45 am

My very favorite at-home workout is a yoga DVD, but I also like Jillian’s and Bob’s DVDs. I’ve done Insanity-based workouts, so I’d love to have the real thing!

  49. Sara on March 7, 2012 at 11:45 am

    Drill based high impact! I CANNOT Zumba/Dance 🙂 !!!

  50. Jennifer on March 7, 2012 at 11:45 am

My favorite at home workout is Jillian’s Shred, but I would love to switch it up!
