Don’t you love when something totally unexpected makes your day a little brighter?

moon

(Gorgeous full moon last night! Now if only I knew how to make my camera photograph it like an actual moon instead of a dot, that’d be kinda cool)

Well, that’s what happened yesterday 🙂

package

First I was excited to see a package that didn’t have the Amazon smiley face on it –those tend to pop up over here pretty frequently- and then I saw “perishable food” and things got even more ridic.

cookies5

A package of Chicago foodie goodies from our good friends Mara and Adam 🙂

Carol’s cookies, Garrett’s popcorn and a deep dish pizza. No words.

I couldn’t open the popcorn fast enough….

and put the pizza in the oven, just in time for the Pilot to get home from work.

Random acts of kindness are truly amazing, and whenever someone does something nice for me, it makes me want to share the positive energy with someone else… so I thought it would be a great day for a giveaway- it’s been a while since we’ve had one of those over here!

After reading the comments on yesterday’s YouTube fitness post, I remembered that many of you also enjoy working out at home, so I thought I’d share one of my favorite at-home workouts with a blog friend:

image image

Winner’s choice: Insanity or Turbofire

You can read my reviews in the links above and decide whether you would prefer a drill-based high-impact workout, or a dance meets kickbox high-energy workout. It makes it even harder to choose because Shaun T. is fun and verryyyy nice to look at, and Chalene is a firecracker of motivation and energy.

All ya have to do:

-Leave a comment with your favorite at-home workout option

(If it’s your first time commenting, I’ll be approving those throughout the day, so no worries if it doesn’t show up right away)

This giveaway is sponsored by Livi and Bella- the winner will be chosen tonight at midnight EST and announced tomorrow am.

To sweeten the deal:

roons

Hope you have an amazing humpday!

See ya later with a Family post.

xoxo

What an amazing giveaway! As much as she definitely hasn’t gotten the positive reviews here, I actually really do enjoy the Tracy Anderson workouts, and they are definitely my go to options when I stay in. They just always put me in a really good mood and I always have lots of fun doing them.

Those are two pretty fantastic options, but you’ve raved about Insanity so much I’d probably give that one a try 🙂 Have an awesome day!

  2. Ashley on March 7, 2012 at 11:45 am

I love doing taebo at home! There is nothing more empowering than to throw a few kicks and punches 😉

  3. Rita @ Healthy Mom, Sexy Wife on March 7, 2012 at 11:45 am

My favorite at home workout is just to do intervals or use my free weights to do a 15 minute routine.

  4. melody durham on March 7, 2012 at 11:45 am

My favorite at home workout is the Biggest Loser DVD. Bob kicks my butt everytime! Also a good option-Walk Away the Pounds. When I was heavier that was the only thing I felt I could do-not much coordination or fancy footwork needed and made me feel awesome after finishing.

  5. Courtney on March 7, 2012 at 11:45 am

I used Turbo Jam for years to help me lose weight with my last two babies. I would love to try out Turbo Fire!!!

  6. Andreina on March 7, 2012 at 11:45 am

    Hi Gina

I have been reading your blog for almost a year, I followed your entire pregnancy, delivery, first 2 months of Livi…you get it. I think it´s pretty cool to get all that information before hand in such a day to day basis. We are planning to have our first baby this year and eventhough I have read quite some pregnancy books I don´t think it can replace sharing this experience with us. Thank you very much for that. In regards of at home workouts I would love to have the chance to win one and use it for those days when you can not make it to the gym ( Iguess once we have our baby it can happen quite often). The only thing I am not sure about is that I don´t live in the US so maybe this giveaway doesn´t cover the international shipping cost? Well, I guess there´s nothing to loose if I give it a try. Thanks and Keep on the good work, you are doing great.

I do yoga from home but can’t motivate myself to do any other cardio or strength training — one of these video sets would surely get me motivated!!

  8. natalie (the sweets life) on March 7, 2012 at 11:46 am

i’m already using insanity (and love it) so i would LOVE LOVE LOVE to win turnbofire!! 🙂

  10. Suzanne C. on March 7, 2012 at 11:46 am

I am a big fan of “the firm” series… What an awesome giveaway!!!!! Thank you!

  11. Amy on March 7, 2012 at 11:47 am

I’ve been doing lots of youtube video workouts lately, I love being able to search for something new everyday! (Thanks for all ideas you posted yesterday!) It is nice to have a stash of DVD’s though for days when I don’t want to go through the search process or deal with commercials and such. I’ve been looking at trying TurboFire and Insanity for a while now but haven’t gotten the chance yet.

  12. Kelley on March 7, 2012 at 11:47 am

I’ve been considering buying Insanity for about a month now, what a great giveaway!! I don’t work out at home that often (I try to get my money’s worth out of my gym membership fee!) but when I do, I like Jillian Michaels, On Demand workouts. Sometimes I hula hoop while watching tv too!

  13. Whitney on March 7, 2012 at 11:47 am

I typically stick to running in our neighborhood and throw an occasional video in! I love Jillian’s ripped in 30!

  14. Sara on March 7, 2012 at 11:47 am

    Hi Gina.

I have to say my favorite at home workout tend to be some type of yoga. I used to have a crunch yoga, but that VHS tape is long gone. I love Jillian Michaels dvd.

  15. Laura on March 7, 2012 at 11:47 am

Oh my goodness that is an AWESOME thing to get in the mail! What kind of deep dish pizza was it? My husband and I LOVE Lou Malnati’s but you can’t really ever go wrong with Chicago deep dish!

Yoga dvd’s are my favorite at home work out option. I love Bethenny Frankel’s first yoga dvd.

    • Fitnessista on March 7, 2012 at 11:51 am

i think that’s what it was!!

  16. Katie o on March 7, 2012 at 11:47 am

My favorite at home workout is 6 week 6 pack by Jillian michaels. I have been dying to try insanity though!!

  17. suzanne on March 7, 2012 at 11:48 am

I really only have walking dvd workouts at home 🙁 I really need to up my game!

  18. Aubrey on March 7, 2012 at 11:48 am

I’m a new mom to a 6 month old girl who has severe reflux and food allergies and requires a lot of attention so I never have much time to myself. When I can I go on a quick run or bust out a Jillian Michaels Wii workout. I’d love to give Turbofire a try!

  19. Britta on March 7, 2012 at 11:48 am

YOGAAAAAA!! Being a student and all, I don’t have the biggest apt so yoga is def my go-to thing!! 😉 Plus, my roomie gets a good laugh – downward-facing dog is wayyyy over her head!

  20. Molly on March 7, 2012 at 11:48 am

I love my Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown DVD! It is a great workout and exercises so many different muscles! I’ve tried Insanity but Turbo Fire looks great!

  21. Emily on March 7, 2012 at 11:49 am

What a generous giveaway! I’ve been wanting to try Insanity since I’ve heard such great reviews of it. My favorite at-home workout involves some heavy kettlebells; I’m a personal trainer myself, and kettlebells are my favorite equipment to work with right now.

    Thanks!!

  22. Aria on March 7, 2012 at 11:49 am

This is a awesome giveaway!! I like to do yoga at home occasionally but winning one of these would sure make me work out at home more! 🙂
Thanks again & hope you enjoyed that deep dish pizza – it looked amazing!!

  23. Jen Crandall on March 7, 2012 at 11:49 am

I am praying for Brenna as well. What a beautiful video. Those are 2 amazing parents.

  24. Leann on March 7, 2012 at 11:49 am

I love doing On Demand Yoga and ab workouts! Im dying to try one of your ‘roons!

  25. Denise on March 7, 2012 at 11:49 am

I love working out at home! Nothing like privacy to act like a complete fool and wear mismatched clothes 😉 My favorite at home workout (right now) is Wii Zumba! So much fun! 🙂

  26. Carly on March 7, 2012 at 11:49 am

The only at home workouts I have done have been Jillian Michaels DVDs. I have been super curious about Turbo Fire!

  27. kelly on March 7, 2012 at 11:49 am

My original favorite at home workout was TaeBo! Now I’m hooked on Jillian Michaels but have been wanting to tryout BodyRock TV. Insanity or Turbo Fire would be AWESOME too! Thanks Livi and Bella! 🙂

  28. kristin @ wounded fawn on March 7, 2012 at 11:50 am

I love at home workouts, minus yoga (I really benefit from a class setting for yoga). I lost over 50 lbs with at home workouts/Dvds and one special VHS haha!

I have never tried either turbo fire or insanity so I would love to try either! Great Giveaway!!!

  29. Nicole on March 7, 2012 at 11:50 am

When I’ve had a stressful day at work, I really like to do some yoga when I get home. It’s such a great way to transition.

  30. Amy Butcheri on March 7, 2012 at 11:50 am

My fav at-home workout has become the PINK method. It is definitely one of the hardest DVD workouts I have ever done! But Turbofire has always intrigued me as well.

    Thanks Livi and Bella! 🙂

  31. Helen on March 7, 2012 at 11:50 am

My favorite at-home workout that I do is a round of kettlebell tabatas! It’s so hard and not something I am doing during my pregnancy (almost 16 weeks!) but I love it and can’t wait to get back to it! I would love to try Turbo Fire after the baby comes!

  32. Claire on March 7, 2012 at 11:50 am

I don’t often work out at home (I’m a bit of a gym rat), but when I do it’s usually a plyometric/cardio-type cricuit since I don’t have any DVD’s. Turbo Fire seems like it would be pretty awesome!

  33. Jennifer on March 7, 2012 at 11:50 am

With a 3 year old at home I have to come up with creative at home workouts. My favorites are the elliptical and Jillian Michaels videos. I would love to win Turbo Fire!!! Thanks Livi and Bella!! So excited!

  34. Lauren C on March 7, 2012 at 11:51 am

I LOVE insanity and have been dying to give Turbofire a try! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  35. Kami on March 7, 2012 at 11:51 am

WOW! What an amazing giveaway! I recently cancelled my gym membership and have been looking for something to do at home! Turbofire looks awesome. That would be just what I need to get my at-home workouts going.

And since this is the first time I’m commenting, I just want to say that I LOVE your blog! By far the best healthy living/fitness blog of the bunch!

  36. Krystle {Fierce|Fabulous|Fit} on March 7, 2012 at 11:51 am

There are SO many routines I make up at home!! I like to use The Women’s Health BIG Book of Ex0ercises for ideas. I also love Jillian Michaels’ Yoga Burn DVDs! 🙂 I’d love to win either of these!! I’ve never tried Turbo Fire.

  37. Alicia A. on March 7, 2012 at 11:51 am

My all time fave is hiking with my doberman. This has been a decent winter and we have been going 3-4x a week. Fresh air is always better than that gym!

  38. Steff on March 7, 2012 at 11:52 am

My fave at-home workout is P90X but I’ve been dying to try Insanity, after reading about it here!

  39. Amanda on March 7, 2012 at 11:52 am

I try to work out in between breaks so I don’t work out at home all the time, but when I do I try to do a bunch of videos. Tone It Up workouts are fun for me! I also do a looooot of stretching at home, so I guess that would be my favorite!

  40. Kristin Faber on March 7, 2012 at 11:52 am

Running! There is no better full body workout for me than getting in a good 5 mile run in the mornings : )

  41. Alison on March 7, 2012 at 11:52 am

Love the idea of paying it forward! <3
I have been slacking on my yoga lately and since I heard of yoga download on your blog, I've been doing their podcasts from home! it's quick and doesn't require taking time to drive to a studio…or making sure my yoga clothes are cute and matchy because nobody will see me 🙂

  42. Sarah S on March 7, 2012 at 11:52 am

not sure if this really counts as an at home workout- but now that its been mild outside- i’ve been running a lot outside. Its my version of an at home workout because i hate running on a track and the treadmill. also, I dont have any at home dvd’s so i would love to try out either of the dvd’s you have listed!!!

  43. Betsy on March 7, 2012 at 11:53 am

Having four kiddos, I have to do quick routines at home before they distract me. Usually do a pyramid style body weight workout (dips, pushups, planks) mixed in with bursts of cardio (toe taps, burpees, jump rope). It gets the job done.

  44. Angela on March 7, 2012 at 11:53 am

I like just going for a run or throwing in a dvd. Right now I’m doing a post natal boot camp “with” my sister who just had a baby and the 30 day shred (again). I’m really not picky as long as I get to move a bit!

  45. Heather on March 7, 2012 at 11:53 am

It’s that yucky time of year in MN (our first winter here) and lately my favorite “at home” workout has been actually getting OUT of the house for long walks with the pups. I would love to try Turbo Fire though. I need some hire energy dance fun in my life. This winter (which apparently is mild) is sucking the life out of me! 🙂

  46. LeeAnn on March 7, 2012 at 11:53 am

I tend to do mostly yoga at home….or core.

  47. Sarah on March 7, 2012 at 11:53 am

I love doing a metcon/circuit style workout at home. Something that includes some weights, some cardio, and some power moves! I’d love some DVD workouts to help me out though!

  48. carrie on March 7, 2012 at 11:53 am

I’ve tried some yoga and pilates at home, but would love to try the Insanity workout. you motivate me to kick it up a notch so I’m looking all over YouTube for options! thanks so much!!

  49. Kaitlyn @ Keeping up with Kaitlyn on March 7, 2012 at 11:53 am

I love doing The 30 day Shred or blogilates videos! Turbofire seems like a huge challenge and I would love to try it out!!

  50. vicky on March 7, 2012 at 11:53 am

My favorite in-home workout is yoga… with nag champa incense burning in the background, soft meditation music, and my buddha candleholders glimmering and reflecting the light within. The physical workout is a bonus… the mental, emotional, spiritual and soul benefits are why I enjoy it so much.
