Summer Shape Up 2015: Week 2 Workouts and Meal Ideas
Hi friends! Happy Monday, and happy Week 2 of Summer Shape Up!
You are rocking out the challenge so far, and Iโve loved to see your check-ins this past week. Thank you for your enthusiasm and support for each other. Youโre the best (but we knew that already). ๐ Before we get cranking into Week 2, a huge round of applause and gratitude burpees to our sponsors:
bobble, makers of a chic self-filtering water bottle
Crunch Live, who kindly hooked us up with 30 days free of online workouts (code: SSU30 for 30 days; it will turn into a real subscription after 30 days at $9.99 just a heads up!)
and Gluten-free Chex Oatmeal, which is the perfect texture for my favorite oat breakfasts and baking.
This weekโs featured sponsor is bobble, aka my workout water bottle obsession. I try to avoid bottled water whenever possible, and carry my own bottle around to refill. Whenever I fill my bottle while weโre out and about, I canโt help but wonder how well itโs filtered, especially when I fill my bottle from a fountain or a tap. Now, I donโt even have to think about it as these bottles have a charcoal filter built-in. Theyโre also less bulky than many of my other bottles, and fit well in a purse (and in my small clumsy hands haha).
(For the record, they totally pass the drop testโฆ as Iโve dropped mine a couple of times.)
They have an array of beautiful colors:
and a full product line of self-filtering products, plus fun accessories like tea sticks and coffee presses. Iโm actually on my way to order a coffee press for some of the Hawaiian coffee we’re currently loving.
They kindly offered 10 participants bobble water bottles for your participation! Iโll pick 10 winners from this weekโs check-ins who will receive their own bobble to try.
For Week 2, hereโs what our schedule looks like! As always, feel free to shuffle and move the workouts around as needed.
Workout #3 + HIIT
Easy/moderate steady: go for a nice jog/run, take a shorter cardio class, kickbox, or dance
Workout #4** (or Yoga Body Sculpt <– use code SSU30 for a free trial) + 20 minute steady cardio of choice (maintain the same pace and intensity)
Long steady (cardio class or long run/cardio session; 45-60 min) + Barre ab burner
**A little surprise for you: I made a video with a workout you can include this week if youโd like. Please keep that this is not fancy WSU-quality production value (just a girl, a napping preschooler and a tripod), but I really want to give you as many options as possible during this challenge, so you can shuffle around if youโd like, or switch things up if you choose to follow it again!
Meal ideas featuring whole and healthy eats:
Breakfast:
Banana nut quinoa muffins with plain (or vegan) yogurt
Breakfast cookie dough cereal with fresh berries
Lunch:
Salad in a jar (be sure to add in some protein)
Breakfast for lunch: Perfect protein pancakes
Dinner:
Pesto baked salmon with veggies
The best black bean soup with avocado and a salad
Slow cooker butter chicken with brown rice and salad
Snacks:
Oatmeal raisin protein cookies
Fruit with a tablespoon of almond butter
Plantain flatbread with hummus and veggies
Desserts/treats:
Glass of wine (have one for me!)
Alright! Thumbs up if youโre ready to go after it! Donโt forget to send your sweaty pics @fitnessista #summershapeup. I always love seeing your beautiful faces!
Leave a comment below each time you complete a Week 2 workout as your giveaway entry (today, Monday, is an off day so itโs a freebie!), or you can tweet/Instagram your check-ins (@fitnessista #summershapeup). Iโll pick 5 winners from the blog and 5 winners from Instagram and Twitter.
Cheering for you, as always,
Gina
Even though today is the off day, I’m using it as my Tuesday. Workout #3 during lunch, steady state in the evening. ๐ I made an egg/sweet potato/broccoli burrito on TJ’s brown rice tortilla yesterday and it was FANTASTIC! One of the few things that’s keeping me full these days. ๐
I have a Boot Camp class today and it looks like I’m in for a full body circuit! Can’t wait!
I’m finally feeling good enough to workout after having a bunch of dental work done. I can’t wait to give some of these workouts a try.
Happy for an “off” day today! ๐
I had a light weekend of workouts so I am looking forward to getting into the gym today!
Took yesterday off, so started today with yoga and a plank burner, doing my steady state this afternoon.
I was off yesterday, so I did 45 minutes of steady followed by the 5 minute plank burner this AM.
I’m recovering from an injury but I managed to put in 4 miles today. Injuries are the worst. I’ll take an off day later this week.
I’ve got total body conditioning tonight and can’t wait!
No off day for me today, I was so tired over the weekend I took both days as rest days… I guess that is what happens when you don’t rest for over a week- whooops! I’m planning on doing Workout #1 and some light circuit training.
Today is my Tuesday because this weekend I’ll be at Fit Bloggin’. In addition to workout #3 I swam laps 30 minutes.
This weekend was off for me, so today was workout #3 and Zumba!
Happy OFF day! I am going to do an easy steady 3 mile run today
I teach on Monday & Wednesday this week- so Tuesday will be my off day! Crazy week…so will have to be creative and determined to get some late week work-outs in!
Sweaty yoga session today as my “off” day treat.
I tried 2 of the workouts on Crunch Live this weekend – bellatone and cardio kickboxing so today is an off day for me. Loving the chance to try out different classes at home since I currently don’t have a gym membership.
8 mile run this am, and a 30 minute plyo workout tonight! Starting the week of on the right foot!! Happy Monday!!
Just knocked out workout #3 + Hiit. I haven’t been able to participate in the past couple of shape ups due to an injury. It feels great to be back at it!
Definitely doing that tuna avocado… yum!!!
i’m taking today as an active recovery and going for an evening walk on the treadmill. Couldn’t get my butt out of bed early enough this morning.
I’m doing legs and HIIT today. Looking forward to getting sweaty.
I don’t like to take Mondays off, so today I did 30 minutes of Solibeat followed by two rounds of Workout 3 ๐
Rest day today for me, back to exercise tomorrow – although technically I’m on a de-load week I still can’t wait to get back to fully exercising!
Since today is an “off” day, I took a walk this morning for some active rest!
Did workout #3 x3 + HIIT scorcher this morning. It was BRUTAL and I’m in pretty good shape. I did it with a young fit male friend and he was dying too. I’m going to be feeling great the rest of the day now though!
Walking my dog tonight for my OFF day!
Check in freebie today since its an off day.
I have been having egg burritos everyday for breakfast and they keep me full all morning!
Love these bottles!!!!!!
I love bobble bottles! I’m spinning at work under my desk right now!
I’m taking advantage of my off day today but did get in a quick walk during lunch today…I am sore from last week!
Got in a 1/2 mile with the pups and 45 min walk on the treadmill. Happy Monday!
I did 30 minutes on the bike and 30 minutes on the elliptical.
Barre – hurts so good!
I took yesterday off so I’m going to fit in a steady state and plank burner tonight. Can’t wait!
I did a strength plus HIIT workout this AM and it was fantastic!
gotta start my week with a workout to get the motivation going… so i did workout 2 – and now i can barely lift up my arms.
then i walked to and from an easy lunch time yoga class.
I usually pick a weekend day as a rest day and this weekend I cleaned during my rest. Scrubbing my shower left me just as sweaty as a Body Pump class! I’ll be doing workout 3 and HIIT tonight and tomorrow is Body Pump!
I take my rest day on Sunday, and I love to start the week on Monday with an intense workout. This morning I did workout #1 for HIIT and three rounds of workout #3.
Even though today is “off” I’m using it as a chance to do some more meal prep. I was much to busy enjoying the sunshine yesterday to come inside!
45 minutes of steady state today!

I went to a super fun and sweaty Zumba class this morning.
3 mile run to start the week.
Pilates class tonight!
Drenched in sweat after a 90-minute Bikram class that was JUST what the doctor ordered physically and mentally, then some charred asparagus and a small sandwich. For dessert, I went throwback Fitnessista and had 3 almond butter-smeared dates ๐
Did an awesome leg/booty workout! buns of steel….ouchie!
