Sweet Friday Giveaway

Hi friends! How are you?

bella

[The Bella ball says “Happy Friday]

It’s another lovely, cool day over here. It’s very refreshing to walk outside without being blasted with heat.

I’m a little late blogging this morning since I had to take my car to the dealership to be serviced. The good news is that they offered me a loaner car to have for the day, but I can’t find the emergency brake on it and keep picturing it rolling back from the driveway and crashing into our across-the-street neighbor’s mailbox.

I packed up some oats with almond milk and a crumbled Chocolate Cherry Torte Larabar to take with me to the dealership:

and couldn’t help but notice this surplus of almonds while I was scrounging for breakfast ingredients.

Since it would take forever to polish off that giant bag of almonds by myself, I think they’re destined for macaroon glory.

So how about a little giveaway?

roons (2)

Since the weather is cooling down, I thought it would be fun to talk about how you change and adapt your workouts in the fall weather.

For this giveaway, just leave a comment and let me know what your favorite fall/winter workout is. For me, I take more of my workouts outside to take advantage of the cooler temps, and when it actually gets to the freezing point, lots of hot yoga to warm up.

roon

I’ll pick a random winner tonight at midnight and announce in my am post. The winner will receive a batch of macaroons in a flavor of their choice (chocolate, mocha, blonde, super roon, almond butter chocolate, Meyer lemon lavender).

Just to make things a little more fun, I’ll also add in a $50 Sephora gift card to celebrate all of the new fall colors and shimmer collections that are out.

Hope this makes your Friday a little sweeter!

See ya later today with a Family post <3

xoxo

Gina

I love Bikram Yoga in the winter – it’s the only time I’ll do it in Texas. My favorite part is when they open the door to outside briefly at the end to cool down the room and you get this amazing blast of fresh cool air!!

  7. Ashlee on October 7, 2011 at 6:42 pm

I am loving this gorgeous fall weather and take advantage of it by working out outside. Nice weather definitely makes marathon training easier.

  8. Shuree on October 7, 2011 at 6:42 pm

Definitely hot yoga! I also like to try new classes in the winter. If I’m going to be inside, I want to be challenged!

  9. Jen on October 7, 2011 at 6:43 pm

I get a super schweaty workout in the winter from bootcamp at my local gym! The trainer totally rocks that teaches it and in the bitter cold of midwest winters, I need something highly motivating to get out of my cozy house!

  10. Theresa on October 7, 2011 at 6:43 pm

I love to rent a bike from my college’s Rec desk and bike the trails around campus! It’s a great way to enjoy the fall colors and breathe the crisp, cool air! 🙂

  11. Kylee on October 7, 2011 at 6:43 pm

I love power yoga and in the true winter up here in new England, I basically turn my living room into a workout zone 🙂

  12. Michelle on October 7, 2011 at 6:43 pm

I take advantage of the cooler temps and run outside without feeling like I’m going to die of heat exhaustion 🙂 Once the snow hits though, it’s time to get upclose & personal with the machines at the gym.

  13. Karen on October 7, 2011 at 6:44 pm

I actually enjoy getting back inside for a few months at an indoor gym at a college near my boyfriend’s house (sorry for the extreme run on sentence!). It’s fun to read magazines and people watch while working out.

  14. mariam on October 7, 2011 at 6:45 pm

During the fall I love going hiking and during the winter I take advantage of Tue bootcamp classes at the gym.

I live in Minnesota………………….it’s nice to get out and walk on a somewhat warmer day in Winter……….this week’s been great for Fall, it’s been in the low 80s………….!

  17. Ashley on October 7, 2011 at 6:47 pm

It gets too chilly for me to keep running outside, so I take more group classes…particularly spinning and body pump.

  18. Jill on October 7, 2011 at 6:47 pm

Bikram or Baptiste Yoga is a must as the weather gets cooler

  19. Amanda on October 7, 2011 at 6:49 pm

I love running in the fall, since it’s no longer boiling hot during the day.

  20. Laura F. on October 7, 2011 at 6:49 pm

OMG, I love the cooler weather, and for me there’s something really magical about being outside in it. I love to bundle up in layers and jog outside with my ipod. In the fall/winter I usually play more mellow music, like Zero 7 or Dave Matthews. My favorite is when snow is falling – I live in CO and when the first snow falls, the snow muffles all of the outside noise and it feels so peaceful out there. I come home feeling so peaceful and happy, and then the BEST thing to do is hop into a hot bath with a cup of tea 🙂 Yay!

  21. Vicki on October 7, 2011 at 6:51 pm

Running! Fall is the best time of year for outdoor runs. 🙂

  22. Froyogi on October 7, 2011 at 6:51 pm

Teaching spin and yoga….and running in the rain (best feeling ever). After it all, getting cozy with a glass o’ wine or latte. yummm…

  23. Tamara on October 7, 2011 at 6:52 pm

My favorite ALL TIME workout is BIKRAM YOGA!! The prep of drinking water is almost like a workout too and I love having to be the healthy mindset all day so that way I can blast 1400+ calories! Not too mention the post-bikram shower is pretty uhmazing too!!

I’ve been taking advantage of the cooler temperatures lately and have started running outside around my neighborhood. The sound of crunching leaves under my shoes makes it even more enjoyable! I don’t know what I’ll do when it starts to get too cold…

  35. Jamie on October 7, 2011 at 7:12 pm

I would say my favorite thing about fall/winter workouts isnt necessarily the workout itself but the POST workout protein pump fuel. Instead of opting for cold protein smoothies like I do all during the summer- I dive into a protein packed bowel of oatmeal post morning strength workout for muscle building and recovery! In the fall mix goes:

    -oats
    -almond milk
-protein powder (I ALWAYS switch it up and choose the flavor during my workout- BSN lean dessert cinnamon roll? gaspari myofusion banana? dymatize chocolate peanut butter?)
-banana mashed in for high glycemic carbohydrates, or canned pumpkin stirred in for the same effect
-stevia droplets (dark chocolate? english toffee? french vanilla?)
-topped with either blueberry jam or honey for an additional instant glycemic index spike with the sugar to ensure that the protein powder goes directly into those tired/sore/worked muscles!

As you can tell I’m a HUGE foodie and love to keep it interesting with all sorts of flavors. So I would say my favorite thing about fall/winter is the post workout treat! And since it IS fall I’ve been enjoying these bowel of oats with pumpkin spice coffee. Yum! Happy fall!

  36. Kristen @ Chocolate Covered Kristen on October 7, 2011 at 7:12 pm

I love long runs outside when it’s cool, but once it gets cold I like to bring it inside and use the time to explore new gym classes and play around with exercise TV when the holidays have me too busy to leave the house.

  37. Morgan on October 7, 2011 at 7:12 pm

Long walks and bike rides with our pup, Sadie and more yard work 🙂

  38. Kylee on October 7, 2011 at 7:14 pm

I love taking long runs and bike rides outside to enjoy the cooler temps!

  39. Ashley on October 7, 2011 at 7:14 pm

I love running and hiking. One of my all-time favorite Fall things is to go camping, then wake up early and do a hike before returning to the campground to hang out and “chill”

  40. Holly M. on October 7, 2011 at 7:14 pm

OMG running this time of year is the best. Love going to the trails to see leaves or run on freshly fallen snow.

    Ummm MOCHA PLEASE! LOL

  41. Marissa on October 7, 2011 at 7:15 pm

  42. Sam on October 7, 2011 at 7:18 pm

In the fall I love to take long walks with my furbaby and then when winter hits I prefer kickboxing classes 🙂

  43. Maureen on October 7, 2011 at 7:22 pm

I love to run on chilly fall mornings. I get out some of my warm layers and favorite beanie and hit the road. It feels great to finish that run and cool down with the cooler temps on your face.

  44. Sophia on October 7, 2011 at 7:24 pm

My favorite winter workout is definitely any exercise video indoors! 🙂 Who needs a heater when you have good video cardio?

  45. Carolyn on October 7, 2011 at 7:26 pm

In fall i love hiking! It is the perfect temp out and the leaves are so pretty!

  46. ashmastandrea on October 7, 2011 at 7:26 pm

I’m taking way more walks…the cooler it gets the quicker I shuffle through the leaves (and eventually snow)!

    Have a fab weekend! 🙂

  47. Iris Lee on October 7, 2011 at 7:27 pm

My favorite fall/winter workout is probably Jillian’s 30-Day Shred… It’s super challenging for me, and can be done just about anywhere. Running outside is also a big favorite! Thanks for putting on this giveaway!

My favorite fall workout is running outside without feeling like I’m going to die!!!

  49. Jessie Nelson on October 7, 2011 at 7:28 pm

I love running outside when it gets cooler out. It’s so much easier to breathe and I love the smells of fall and all the pretty changing colors on the trees. I live in Buffalo Ny though, so it gets awfully cold so once it starts snowing inside I go and do some pilates reformer work! My fav!

  50. Brittany Johnson on October 7, 2011 at 7:31 pm

My favorite fall/winter workout is hot power yoga. Much for appealing to head to the studio when it is rainy and cold outside!
