Sweet Friday Giveaway

Hi friends! How are you?

bella

[The Bella ball says “Happy Friday]

It’s another lovely, cool day over here. It’s very refreshing to walk outside without being blasted with heat.

I’m a little late blogging this morning since I had to take my car to the dealership to be serviced. The good news is that they offered me a loaner car to have for the day, but I can’t find the emergency brake on it and keep picturing it rolling back from the driveway and crashing into our across-the-street neighbor’s mailbox.

I packed up some oats with almond milk and a crumbled Chocolate Cherry Torte Larabar to take with me to the dealership:

and couldn’t help but notice this surplus of almonds while I was scrounging for breakfast ingredients.

Since it would take forever to polish off that giant bag of almonds by myself, I think they’re destined for macaroon glory.

So how about a little giveaway?

roons (2)

Since the weather is cooling down, I thought it would be fun to talk about how you change and adapt your workouts in the fall weather.

For this giveaway, just leave a comment and let me know what your favorite fall/winter workout is. For me, I take more of my workouts outside to take advantage of the cooler temps, and when it actually gets to the freezing point, lots of hot yoga to warm up.

roon

I’ll pick a random winner tonight at midnight and announce in my am post. The winner will receive a batch of macaroons in a flavor of their choice (chocolate, mocha, blonde, super roon, almond butter chocolate, Meyer lemon lavender).

Just to make things a little more fun, I’ll also add in a $50 Sephora gift card to celebrate all of the new fall colors and shimmer collections that are out.

Hope this makes your Friday a little sweeter!

See ya later today with a Family post <3

xoxo

Gina

I live in Texas where is hasn’t rained in months and just dropped below 100 degrees about a week ago! So, I’m enjoying doing my long running days outside now that we’re in the 90s and high 80s this week 🙂 I’m a new reader of your blog and really am enjoying reading!

  2. jodi on October 8, 2011 at 12:04 am

biking in the fall is the best! not too hot, not too windy and not too cold!

  3. Stephanie Madden on October 8, 2011 at 12:11 am

  5. Erin O. on October 8, 2011 at 12:16 am

My favorite fall workout is jogging/walking outside at park trails, but when it starts getting cold I take things indoors by using a gym elliptical (I can watch TV while exercising!) or do a TurboFire video.

  6. Tiffany on October 8, 2011 at 12:19 am

This fall has been quite amazing for me exercise wise! I got a bicycle (the first one I’ve had since I was about 10!) so now that it’s cooled down, I love riding it around the neighborhood. I regularly do spin, but it feels different, and I can’t wait to do some long rides on it!

I also bought TurboFire a couple weeks ago after your Focus On post.. and I’m loving it! it’s definitely going to be a staple when it’s too cold to leave house or if I get snowed it! I have never loved a set of DVDs so much in my entire life (except maybe the Sex and the City box set, but that’s a whole different kind of love).

  7. Fallon on October 8, 2011 at 12:20 am

I love going for a walk/jog around Las Vegas. The weather is so much cooler and you get to see more of the city!

  8. Jenn on October 8, 2011 at 12:23 am

I don’t really take my workouts outside because I live in Florida so it goes from hot to freezing without much of a fun cool period 🙁 BUT i do enjoy taking my dogs on longer walks all bundled up in a warm hoodie!

  9. Heather S on October 8, 2011 at 12:24 am

Normally running in cooler temps! This year being pregnant extra long dog walks!

  10. Kristin on October 8, 2011 at 12:25 am

Skiing!! My absolute fave in the winter! Such a great quad burner, tricep workout, and fun to do with my man 🙂

  11. Leah on October 8, 2011 at 12:26 am

For the last 4 years I have ran Twin Cities Marathon (always the first Sunday in October.) And for the last two years I have done a June marathon as well. Because of my running schedule, I am pretty much training from December until October. So, my fall workouts switch to more of a relaxed, break for my body which is usually hurting pretty bad. So I focus on long walks/hikes, yoga, and for my more intense workout… spin classes! I also try to incoorporate more strength training since that really gets put on the back burner when I’m logging 30 – 50 miles per week. I’ve never had a macaroon and I’m very intersted in trying one!

-Leah in MN where it is def always cooler (in temp) 😉
ps. I love your blog and have for years now and I’m super excited for you and the pilots little lady!

  12. Gina on October 8, 2011 at 12:27 am

I’m absolutely in love with the fall; it’s the perfect time of year in Phoenix! I love taking my workouts outside by hiking. It’s a great opportunity to take in the beautiful scenery and get a good workout all at the same time. It’s also fun to hike to the mall afterwards…who knew hiking could be so interchangeable!?! 🙂

  13. Leah on October 8, 2011 at 12:27 am

    I just realized that I might be too late 🙁 it’s 11:26 p.m. here!!!

  14. Alex on October 8, 2011 at 12:27 am

That’s so funny, I live in Portland, OR so when it starts to get cooler outside (and starts to rain!) I head inside for my workouts. I love yoga, Zumba and spinning. Thanks for this awesome giveaway!

  15. Shana on October 8, 2011 at 12:35 am

I’m hoping to get in some weekend hikes. Just took my first bikram class today and loved it…may be a new fav!

  16. Susie on October 8, 2011 at 12:38 am

How sweet! When the weather starts to get cooler, I head inside for my workouts–I like to mix up gym workouts with at-home workout vids when it’s too cold to brave the outdoors.

  17. Tonya on October 8, 2011 at 12:40 am

Running in the cooler temps is the best.

  18. sonia malhotra on October 8, 2011 at 12:47 am

well in SF the rain is dangerous, but in door boxing or rock climbing is the best!

  19. Teri on October 8, 2011 at 12:49 am

We also live in the desert, but in So Cal…and we love to go hiking in the foothills above the city. It’s quiet, and up there there are trees…and with the fall foliage, it’s gorgeous to hike! We definitely take advantage of the outdoors during the cool weather.

  20. stephanie on October 8, 2011 at 12:55 am

My favorite workout is CrossFit, rain or shine! I’m addicted!

  21. Kathleen on October 8, 2011 at 12:56 am

I love taking my dog to the park and running outside!!

  22. Lindsey on October 8, 2011 at 12:57 am

Since moving to NYC, my workouts really don’t change with the season. I really don’t enjoy running on concrete. I much prefer trails. Therefore, I stick to the gym. Currently my two major loves are tabata style full body circuits and yoga. Pretty much opposites, but they balance each other out nicely. What I love about fall is galavanting around the city and stumbling upon new places. Crisp fall afternoons are perfect for this 🙂 Hopefully I win some roons to fuel my outings!

  23. Jennifer on October 8, 2011 at 1:02 am

Love this time of year! I too start moving more of my workouts outside: walking, raking, and biking. Soon it will be time to add in snow shoveling!

  24. Jessica on October 8, 2011 at 1:03 am

Definitely taking it outside! Walk, run, skip, jump… anything goes!

  25. Liz on October 8, 2011 at 1:04 am

Totally agree. I take advantage of doing my runs or morning yoga outside while I can. Once it gets really cold out I can’t get enough Hot Yoga or Zumba classes! Keep the body temp up!

  26. Lisa on October 8, 2011 at 1:06 am

I enjoy OnDemand’s Exercise TV for those crazy weather days. Or turn a weight training session into a quick-moving circuit to warm up quickly. 🙂 mmmm…macaroons!

  27. Paige Pharr on October 8, 2011 at 1:20 am

outdoor runs around the lake 🙂

  28. Darien on October 8, 2011 at 1:22 am

i just like taking walks when its nice!

  29. KC on October 8, 2011 at 1:36 am

I use the bad weather as an opportunity to try out new indoor workout classes – LOVE TRX and cant wait to get back into it this winter!

  30. Nicole on October 8, 2011 at 1:40 am

I’d have to say my favorite workout for fall and winter time is morning yoga to get the blood flowing in the early hours while continuing relaxation that I constantly want during the cold months! I love giving myself time to be a relaxed, lazy bum.

  31. Maryann on October 8, 2011 at 1:59 am

My favorite workout is a good run, any time of the year!

  32. Emily on October 8, 2011 at 2:01 am

I love, love, love running and biking outside in the fall. Perfect temps – until the rain starts creeping up 🙁 Come wintertime, I usually turn to DVD workouts. Lately, I’ve been loving Insanity.

  33. Lindsay on October 8, 2011 at 2:07 am

A plethora of beach marathons in my tropical state is going to be the order of the season. I’m so psyched to train yearround here 🙂

  34. cindylu on October 8, 2011 at 2:16 am

I love running outdoors, pretty much the same thing I do during other seasons. LA weather doesn’t change too much.

  35. Molly on October 8, 2011 at 2:18 am

Well, it’s not midnight yet in CA so I’ll give this a try. I love exercising outside during Fall in Los Angeles. The weather is perfect. Today I went on a long walk in the park near my new apartment. I can’t wait to see the leaves change but it’s going to be at least another month before that happens. I also love doing a lot more yoga – more cosy. Thanks!

  36. Jessica on October 8, 2011 at 2:29 am

I love fall, I just moved to the east coast- I love all your pumpkin recipes, primarily the GF ones 🙂

  37. Kari on October 8, 2011 at 3:43 am

Am I too late? Where I live it is still 9:00… Anyways, I like jump roping all bundled up to start off and then slowly shedding the layers as I go on.

  38. Nicole on October 8, 2011 at 3:47 am

I love running during fall! As the weather cools down my pace picks up, making it so satisfying!

  39. Vivian on October 8, 2011 at 4:36 am

My favorite workout in this cold cold weather would definitely be hot yoga! I’ve been doing it for several months now and i absolutely love it. It might not be a lot of people’s thing, but I love the feeling you get after getting out from a sweaty workout 🙂

  40. lindsay on October 8, 2011 at 4:59 am

I live in Washington State, where we’re hitting the real rainy season (yeah, every season here is a rainy season), which usually means I become a homebody. This is the time of year where I usually just throw in a workout dvd and call it good. Or do some yoga at home.

  41. Sarah Bennett on October 8, 2011 at 7:24 am

I’m just like you. When it gets colder out, I LOVE to take advantage of the weather and do as much outside as possible. My favorite thing is probably going to the dog park with my two little boys (cockapoos). They have a huge fenced in area for them to run around free in, and a super long trail that you can run/walk them on. I love seeing them literally GALLOPING around the grass, their ears flopping, and tongues hanging so far out of their mouth. I think we’re all happy at that point <3

  42. Freja on October 8, 2011 at 7:35 am

My favorite season to run is fall. I love doing my long trail runs on beds of crunchy, colorful leaves in the mountains of northern New Hampshire. Doesn’t get much more beautiful than that!

  43. Courtney (greeneyedrunner) on October 8, 2011 at 7:45 am

I’d love to still run because fall colors are FANTASTIC! I’ve also got a Pure Barre double tube to play with while I’m abroad…if I were at home I’d be alllll over that spin bike!

  44. Rachael on October 8, 2011 at 7:57 am

I love running in the fall!

  45. Marie on October 8, 2011 at 8:13 am

I love running when the temperatures drop – wearing tights and a hoodie without sweating always makes me feel like I can go for longer than when I’m a sticky mess in shorts and a tank.

  46. Danielle on October 8, 2011 at 8:17 am

Zumba, always Zumba no matter what time of year 😉

  47. Megan on October 8, 2011 at 8:23 am

I love hot yoga in the winter! Freezing from walking to my car to the stuido, get all hot and schweaty.. then come out again in the cold! it’s a rush!

  48. mama on October 8, 2011 at 8:24 am

i also like to run outside when i can if its cooler, just have to make sure i have a sitter for my girls, that is the tough one!

  49. Alicia @ Treble Tart on October 8, 2011 at 8:30 am

Running outside on a cool, crisp Fall morning is so delicious! I also like to warm up with some yoga or pilates on a particularly cold day. Mmm, those macaroons look good!

  50. Katie on October 8, 2011 at 9:05 am

Even though I practice year round, hot yoga when the temperatures drops definitely is at the top of my list!
