To market, to market…
to buy a huge scone. π
(or βto buy a seksi Pilot?β heh heh)
Hi friends π How was your day today?
Man oh man did it feel GLORIOUS to sleep in. The Pilot and I slept until we woke up (no alarm!) and then I grabbed a macaroon, warm from the dehydrator
(I had to make sure theyβre *safe* to send out)
some brown rice toast with peanut butter, cinnamon and banana
and took Bella with us to hit up the Farmerβs Market.
The weather was BEAUTIFUL today and there were the most vendors Iβve seen in a while!
Gorgeous local, organic produce, cheeses, dips and soups, beauty care products, raw foods, local organic meats, gluten-free bakers, ethnic foods, anything your heart could wish for.
We only picked up a couple of things (gorgeous tomatoes and prickly pear jelly, the Pilot also munched a saltena, which is a Bolivian pot pie), but we just happy to walk around and enjoy the sights and sunshine.
Bella enjoyed the sunshine, too π
Weβre trying to take her out and about with us more often, because the exercise is great for her and sheβs becoming semi-senile in her middle age. She always loves people (especially kids) but we noticed sheβs be growling at other dogs, which she never used to do. Hopefully sheβll get her social skills back π
The rest of the day has been pretty mellow. There are tons of to-dos and errands on the horizon, but sometimes ya gotta take it easy π
Itβs dinner time over here! See ya in the morning π
xoxo
Gina

Todayβs tip: Itβs meal-planning day! Take a few minutes to jot down your fuel for this week and a grocery list, if you havenβt already. Whatβs on the meal plan this week?? Anything new and amazing I need to try? π
That is one awesome Farmers Market! Glad you got to get out and spend some time in the fresh air with the pilot!
I am totally going to do this workout – π
we take Basil along with us as much as we can… people LOVE him cuz he’s kinda cute π
Your farmers’ market looks amazing. Just from the photo, I can tell that there are lots of vendors!
Nothing like startin’ the week right with a hard workout. I’ll do this. π
oh great workout I’m definitely going to give that a try tomorrow to mix up my routine! π
Definitely high fiber english muffins w pb, apple and banana slices and cinnamon every morning!! Much like your glorious breakfast π
And I cannot wait for my red pep, roma tomato, basil, romaine on high fiber wrap tomorrow!! I’m feeling very well stocked this week π
New stuff I just picked up this weekend:Some mango salsa and mango chipotle salmon (starkist), can’t wait to make a salmon lettuce boat with it!
Super cute outfit! π I had a quiche night with some friends (you can definitely make this healthier than normal) and also made some healthier nachos yesterday (including beans and salsa). I would love to hear more ideas from everyone, especially for lunches and dinners. I want to try tofu stirfry, quinoa salad, and some Asian recipes this week…
Love your workout!! I’m going to do it tomorrow!!!
Also, do you know of any good farmer markets in Jacksonville? I really wanna go but Idk if there are any worth going here! Just a shot π
I love the total body workout! I need to remember to try that this week! π
Thanks for the workout!
I am so ready for our farmers markets to begin again — I’ve been in withdrawal!
Hola girl! I just wanted to pass on some info that might be helpful for lil Bella π There is an INCREDIBLE veterinary behaviorist named Dr. Sophia Yin, whose website has so much helpful information for working with dogs on specific problems, the RIGHT way. She has a section of videos posted to show ways in which positive reinforcement training is effective. She is the first that I recommend to EVERY client! Here’s one that might be helpful (even if Bella is just reacting with little growls the same types of things apply!). This woman is my GURU so I can’t help but share π Have a great week!

Your Farmer’s Market looks huge for the beginning of April! I am eager for the days of late spring when I can buy strawberries, asparagus, and tomatoes!!! As for this week, I threw some guacamole into my cart!
gorgeous tomatoes and prickly pear jelly = Nice finds!
And the Pilot, he’s a nice find, too π
So glad you enjoyed the sunshine, fresh air, sights and sounds of the market, the outdoors, and just being with your honey. That’s priceless, right there!
Meal planning. Yes. Lots of fresh veggies, some condiments, tofu/beans/lentils/edamame, and call it a day. Or a week. Or a month. That’s pretty much what I do. lol
Can’t wait to hear your more scientific methodology!
Oh I would LOVE to have a big farmers market near me…who knows, maybe I do. Off to research!
Great blog!
So jealous of your Farmers Market! I can’t wait until it gets warm enough up here for ours to be outside again. π
I’m actually planning on making some marinated shrimp skewers tomorrow night and am SHOCKED that the hubby actually agreed to them (he’s not a huge fish fan!). Hopefully they turn out alright so I’ll be able to feed him fish again! π
Your pictures are beautiful! Also, I love how much you update!
I went to the farmer’s market yesterday, too! My kind mommy went with me and bought me tons of delicious produce and local eggs. ARen’t we so lucky to have local, organic produce around us? π
I’m living vicariously through you! I wish I could wear sun dresses and go to farmers markets!~ It’s raining here in Vancouver =( spirng hasn’t arrived yet unfortunately!! do girl guide cookies count as meal planning?? lol
.<
for some reason my post didn’t… weird! I should be planning my meals, but since I graduate college in a month i have many other things on my mind, haha. And I can’t wait until it’s warm enough to go to a farmers market! Where I’m from it’s still cold and rainy!
Your farmer’s market sounds amazing! I wish we had one closer. Our closest is 20 miles away and not worth it. π
OMG prickly pear jelly?! That definitely sounds like a foodgasm!!!! I wish they would sell prickly pear stuff in Cali π
i’m totally jealous of your weather.
I haven’t thought about meals this week yet, probably work on that tomorrow during work haha
I love markets- cant wait for better weather!!
None of my business, but I read your blog everyday. I wouldn’t buy a house in this economy. Ever. Just my two cents. That’s just my opinion. I really like your blog.
Home prices are rediculously low, interest rates are low… If you have a guaranteed paycheck (spec. military/government) then you SHOULD go for it. Eventually the economy will straighten back out and they will have made one heck of a smart deal. What’s sad is people who bought right before the crash… like us and millions of others.
I’m sorry I left this inappropriate comment yesterday. I was really really drunk.
I plan meals every week – based on our CSA produce box. Planning ahead makes grocery shopping a breeze!
I have something for you to try! I have it scheduled for Wednesday π Curried Cous Cous Salad, I’m paring it with roasted garlic hummus, pitas and extra veggies. Here’s the site, Giada made it π http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/curried-couscous-salad-recipe/index.html It looked so yummy, then when i actually saw the recipe I was scared and almost backed out, but I made it exactly (like I do for first trys) and it was so, SO good. Don’t leave anything out! esp. the cranberries, they kinda make it π Hope you enjoy!
that sounds so lovely
what a glorious day for the market! sounds like a wonderful outing for the three (i count bella!) of you. can’t wait for the market season to arrive here!
thanks for a warm-fuzzy flashback moment: my mom made a lot of homemade cookies when we were little, and we always got to taste them right out of the over…just to make sure they were “safe” to eat. your macaroon tasting gave me instant recall of those happy moments! thanks!
What an amazing farmers market! I wish there had something like that near me! I would be there everyday!
I’m jealous of the sunshine, the farmer’s market and that pretty white dress! It SNOWED here today. Ummm, spring? Did you miss the memo or something?
The market looks amazing! I think they might have a couple where I live, but obviously not until the weather gets nicer ; ) in DC they had some amazing ones, I miss them!
Have a Happy Monday!!! xoxo <3
my dog has never been interested in other dogs. He loves people though!
Going to the farmer’s market is my favourite way to spend a Sunday! I’m getting so anxious for ours to open for the summer!
I can’t wait until the farmer’s market starts in my neighborhood. It won’t be until later this month.
You are getting me SO excited to go to the farmer’s market this summer Gina!! If you’re looking for something tasty to make this week, I made 2 re-creations of my favourite Whole Foods salads a while ago, the Edamame Caviar and Kamut Power Blend (http://bit.ly/fbGHkR). They’re not the real thing, but they’re close and pretty delicious!! Have a wonderful day. π
YUM! thanks for the link π
So jealous of that weather! I can’t wait for warm days and farmers’ markets!
It looks just beautiful there. We got nailed with pea size hail yesterday – I laid over the top of my car to protect it! Just kidding. My 14 year old puppy does things he’s never done before – like pick up his food dish out of the kitchen and bring it into the family room to eat. We always look at each and say, “That’s new”. Enjoy your week and take care. Mo
Just tried the workout. Boy, was that what I needed to wake up on a Monday morning! Thanks π
so glad you liked it!! <3
Last night I made a wonderful chicken dish with artichokes, sundried tomatoes, lemon juice, white wine, thyme, & parmesean cheese. Side salad with spinach, arugula, mushrooms, red peppers, macadamia nuts, goddess dressing. It was a Publix menu. Probably on their website. Easy.
Cute dress, cute shoes, cute Bella! Love your beautiful day!
Thanks for that great workout! I will definitely be trying it sometime this week, I need to shake up my routine π
Sounds like a great day- I can’t wait to do that this summer! I have to ask, where did you get that adorable dress? It’s exactly what I want to wear all summer long.
thank you! j crew π
i love your outfit! the weather looks gorgeous! π
Love the dress!! Where’d you find it?
j crew- they have it in grey and blue too!
I love that white sundress!!
I don’t have any exciting new food items to share π I *just* got chia seeds and nutritional yeast for the first time ever last week though and I am in loooove!
Mmm I would a huge scone. My favorite coffee shop sometimes has maple & oatmeal scones – to die for!
I love doing my meal plans on Sunday… It’s always nice to have a plan so that when Monday night rolls around, I’m not in the kitch thinking… what to make, what to make ? Tonight its super seasoned turkey burgers and sweet pot fries! Have to enjoy this warm weather before it turns cold again later this week :l
mmm peanut butter, bananas, and cinnamon! one of my FAVOURITE combos!!
Oh, this made me long for summer and the return of farmers markets!!! Glad you had a good weekend.
I always plan and shop on Sundays, and night one, last night, I made Rick Bayless’s chicken tortilla soup. Soooo good and authentic. I think both you and the pilot will love it. He also includes variations for goat cheese or vegetarians. You can find his recipe on cookstr.com!
Did this workout today before class and I looooved it. Your workouts always make me die during but then after I feel so great π thankzzz gurl
