So much fun and the perfect way to wake up ๐Ÿ™‚ Today, we bought an annual pass, too, so we can go back wheneverโ€ฆ since weโ€™re going to live in Tucson now and everything ๐Ÿ˜‰

My to-do list is screaming at me, but I feel mellow and ready to tackle it.

Something to do: Want to be my virtual walking buddy? I started this yesterday, and every morning before starting the day, Iโ€™m going to walk for 30 minutes. This isnโ€™t my *cardio time*, just some โ€œmeโ€ time (sometimes accompanied by the Pilot or Bella) and chance to wake up, think, shake out my legs and get my metabolism going for the day. Anyone want to join in the fun?

Something else to do: Want some roons? Check out Katieโ€™s bake sale for Japan! (Hint: I never *just* send macaroons for charity bake salesโ€ฆ they come in a box full of Whole Foods and TJs goodies, too)

I'll totally be your virtual walking buddy – I walk every day apart from my cardio too! ๐Ÿ˜€

  4. Allison @ Food For Healing on April 5, 2011 at 1:22 pm

all those pictures are so beautiful, i love how nice it looks there, and the weather looks fantastic. I need to get up earlier in the morning, i’m always rushing to get out the door. but since its starting to warm up i was actually thinking of biking to work (7 miles each way) i need to get out and enjoy this weather somehow!

  5. Whitney on April 5, 2011 at 1:23 pm

I so wish we lived somewhere with hiking trails like that! I’m definitely down for starting every morning with a walk.

  6. Beth @ Will Run for Books on April 5, 2011 at 1:24 pm

I’d totally be in for that! I love walking – even more so now that the weather is finally warming up in Chicago ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Katie (Sweet Tater) on April 5, 2011 at 1:24 pm

i’ll walk with you, gina! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  8. Katie @ Nourishing Flourishing on April 5, 2011 at 1:24 pm

It makes me so happy that you guys are back together in the same place ๐Ÿ™‚ Nothing like a hike to wake you up and put things into perspective; love it.

I live right on the other side of that rock face in the second picture!! Our house is in the next canyon over. LOVE Sabino ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Holly @ The Runny Egg on April 5, 2011 at 1:28 pm

OK I am super jealous that you are in a tank top and shorts!!! And what a beautiful place. I love hiking/walking but I do not get out as much as I would like.

Walking for 30 minutes each morning is a great idea — It would be a nice time to quiet your mind but prepare for the day!

  11. Jennifer on April 5, 2011 at 1:28 pm

    I’ll walk with you!!!

  12. Mara @ What's For Dinner? on April 5, 2011 at 1:28 pm

  14. Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life on April 5, 2011 at 1:30 pm

It’s FINALLY starting to warm up around here so I’m definitely thinking about testing out the virtual walking buddy! It’s just a matter of whether I can get myself up even earlier… ๐Ÿ˜‰

  15. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on April 5, 2011 at 1:31 pm

I’ve been getting into a walking habit lately, too! Since sitting and meditating tends to be difficult with my Type-A personality, walking seems to be the next best thing!

30 minutes each morning is a great goal– I’m totally in as a “virtual” buddy! ๐Ÿ˜€

  16. Runeatrepeat on April 5, 2011 at 1:31 pm

Walking is my favorite “me time” activity! I’m in ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Rachel on April 5, 2011 at 1:35 pm

  20. Katie on April 5, 2011 at 1:39 pm

I love walking too : ) Mike and I love to take evening walks when the weather is nice, its nice to do because we get to catch up on each other’s days : )

I really need to come visit you this summer! We could be walking buddies for a weekend!

    xoxo <3

  21. Nicole on April 5, 2011 at 1:42 pm

I wish I could walk every morning for 30 minutes but it’s not possible because of work. I try to do something in the morning even if it’s only stretching. That place is beautiful!

  22. Kristen on April 5, 2011 at 1:42 pm

Since I work out in the morning, I like to take evening walks. I don’t speed walk but just stroll and it gives me a chance to clear my head and process the day (and of course figure out how to tackle the rest of my to do list). I go out for at least 20 minutes and absolutely love it. So, I’ll be virtually walking with you in the evening.

  23. Katy @ A Healthy Shot on April 5, 2011 at 1:44 pm

I’m totally in! I love that idea! I think I have it in my head that I need to get up and do a balls-to-the-walls workout first thing, and that mindset keeps me from actually doing it! Waking up for a walk sounds like a nicer way to do things, and like you said- a great ‘me time’!

My mom often walks early in the morning and every time I walk with her, I arrive home energized and ready to tackle the day!

  24. Heather (heathers dish) on April 5, 2011 at 1:47 pm

I’ll be your walking buddy ๐Ÿ™‚ there’s nothing bad about starting a day off on a great hike!

  25. Ruth on April 5, 2011 at 1:48 pm

The walking sounds like a brilliant idea! Count me in!

  26. Chelsea on April 5, 2011 at 1:49 pm

OMG! I am totally all over this! I love leashing up my dog and walking. I try and get at least 30 minutes a day….I even walk to the Redbox and the bank and the gym and it relieves so much stress!! Even though it is still soooo cold here sometimes I think it refreshes me!

  27. Stefanie @TheNewHealthy on April 5, 2011 at 1:51 pm

Beautiful photos! It makes me yearn for warm sunny weather! ๐Ÿ™‚

  28. chocolate-covered katie on April 5, 2011 at 1:51 pm

Seriously, every time I think you can’t get sweeter… you do! How???? How do you do it??? As if donating the macaroons wasn’t generous enough, now you’re offering an adorable care package too?! Amazing!! Truly, you are AMAZING. I just can’t tell you that enough times.

Also, I adore that photo of your yoga posing in front of the mountains. It looks like something from a magazine.

  29. Emma (ecoprincess) on April 5, 2011 at 1:53 pm

It looks really beautiful there! lol at the Pilot in the pics! What’s that yoga pose called that you’re doing? I’ll be your virtual walking buddy – I usually try and take my puppy out every morning and evening, aside from any other exercise I do.

  30. Andrea on April 5, 2011 at 1:56 pm

I love Sabino Canyon! It’s one the things I miss most about Tucson! Looks like you had fun. Love the action shots of the Pilot!

  31. Krista @ Journey to a Healthy Berg on April 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm

How pretty! I love the walking idea. I’m in!

  32. Faith A. on April 5, 2011 at 2:04 pm

Oh yes, please count me in for the walking!! Just what I need right now. Excellent idea!!

  33. jenna{frombostonwithlove} on April 5, 2011 at 2:07 pm

I’m in! I usually end up skimping on my(and my pup’s) morning walk since I tend to run late, but would love to be more intentional about it. Great idea!

  34. Ilana on April 5, 2011 at 2:07 pm

Ooh, so in for the virtual walking buddy thing…Instead of drinking coffee to wake up, I go outside for a 20-30 minute walk (depending on my time) … oh it’s so fabulous.

  35. natalie on April 5, 2011 at 2:08 pm

yay! i just started going on moonlight walks with our doggie! consider me your nighttime walking buddy. ; )

    What a gorgeous hike!!

  37. Dani on April 5, 2011 at 2:18 pm

I LOVE the idea of a virtual walking buddy! Hope DC gets some good and stable weather soon!

  38. Errign on April 5, 2011 at 2:20 pm

Can I join in even if I can’t always fit a walk in during the first thing in the am hours, as long as I get a walk in? ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife on April 5, 2011 at 2:25 pm

I’d love to join in- I loooovve walking me-time ๐Ÿ™‚ And those pics are gorgeous of you both!!

  40. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on April 5, 2011 at 2:36 pm

What a gorgeous walk! Walking is something I want to start doing – like you said, not for cardio, just for some ‘me’ time. I think I’m going to start as soon as the weather warms up (we are getting flurries AGAIN today). It sounds like a great post-work stress reliever. Great photo of you in your Lulu gear!

  41. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on April 5, 2011 at 2:52 pm

Your walk time is such a great thing!! When I was pregnant and a new mom, well the first few years of motherhood, I made walking time every single day. I wasnt meant to be running in those moments, it was too taxing on my body, but I needed the emotional/mental release and head clearing time and it saved my sanity! Now, my cardio is 20-30 mins per day and it’s running or walking, but I don’t run for speed…ever. I just run, take in the sights, clear my head (I never run w/ an ipod) and just…breathe in the fresh air.

And that shot of you in natarajasana, just beautiful ๐Ÿ™‚ I can tell you used to be a dancer, big time!

  42. courtney @ cupcakedynamite on April 5, 2011 at 3:06 pm

love that picture of you doing a yoga pose! it looks awesome with that scenery.

  43. Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn on April 5, 2011 at 3:08 pm

I am going to try to do the walking thang, but I wake up at 5:30 every morning:) Haha not exactly sunny, BUT maybe the treadmill in my basement?! It is gorggg out, I will try to buy something from the bake sale!

  44. Kilee on April 5, 2011 at 3:15 pm

Yah! I would love to join you. My morning routine already starts with a 30 min walk around the neighborhood with my dog. I like to repeat positive affirmations and remind myself of all that I am thankful for during that time. I am very impressed by your yoga pose. It’s beautiful!

  45. Namaste Gurl on April 5, 2011 at 3:17 pm

I’m so jealous of your hike- how beautomous! What a lucky girl you are indeed ๐Ÿ™‚
I’d love to be your walking partner- walking is indeed an amazing way to start the day stress free!

  46. Victoria on April 5, 2011 at 3:18 pm

Love the virtual walking buddy idea. I’ve been trying to get outside for a walk first thing lately too. Of course, I usually have at least 1 of our 2 dogs with me.

  47. Ashley on April 5, 2011 at 3:37 pm

You are so generous! ๐Ÿ™‚ I haven’t seen that mung bean pasta, but am going to keep my eye out for it. I also want to check out farina at some point. The texture looks awesome. Pretty sure I’m sensitive to gluten, since doing that whole detox thing. Not sure it’s all gluten, but definitely have pinpointed a few things!

    • Fitnessista on April 5, 2011 at 3:48 pm

i’m the same way- not totally allergic, but definitely intolerant. you would love the farina ๐Ÿ™‚

  48. Jeni @ stepping out on April 5, 2011 at 3:49 pm

Wow! Those pictures look absolutely amazing! I definitely want to come visit now. ๐Ÿ˜€

  49. Ashley @ Will Run for Food on April 5, 2011 at 3:55 pm

Love the pictures! You two just make me smile! ๐Ÿ™‚ You probably mention this somewhere but when making egg white omelets, do you seperate eggs or use the stuff in a carton? I’m just curious because I’ve been doing P90X for a while and am just starting the nutrion plan and lots of protein is to be consumed (5 servings of protein and 6 egg whites= 1 serving!)!! I hate the thought of throwing away all of the yolks! ๐Ÿ™‚ I probably won’t be following it so strictly but I was just curious…and am kind of scared of the egg whites you can buy…

  50. Faith @ lovelyascharged on April 5, 2011 at 3:59 pm

Did you notice that the pilot has one super white leg and one super tan on in that picture of him walking away? It just cracked me up ๐Ÿ˜‰
