Better in the Sun

Hi guys! Happy Humpday (Indian Food Wednesday!) 😀 Who’s getting Indian food tonight?? I CAN’T WAIT until our Indian restaurant re-opens- they’re closed for maintenance.  I miss it so!

I’m so glad ya’ll liked today’s Reader’s Request post– keep sending those requests my way!

This morning, Ashley and I had a crazy core workout at the gym. An elliptical warm-up followed by 45 minutes of abs and back.

I came back to the casa and decided to take my pics by a sunny window, as all of the photography gurus suggest. Usually I’m just lazy and take the pics on the counter so I can eat faster 😉

Egg-stada with 2 egg whites, shrimp, spinach, tomato and raw goat cheddar:

shrimp

And 1/3 cup plain oats with cinnamon:

oats

I think the pics look much better than usual when I take them in the breakfast nook area- even though I don’t have a fancy schmancy camera. (The pilot wanted to buy me one when I got my current camera and I told him no thanks because they’re not pretty and sleek- they’re giant and bulky. *smacks self in the face*)

Macaroon in the sun:

roon

The super-roons could most possibly be the best batch yet.. the cacao, maca and goji combo is amazin’

Maltipoo in the sun:

bell

(I think the stuffed elephant in the background gave away Bella’s political affiliation)

My favorite SUN (warrior) protein came in the mail today!!!!

me

The protein drought is ovahhhhhhhhh.

You know what else is better in the sun?

Me.

Tina’s post this morning really got me thinking about how much I am not a fan of winter. It just makes me feel blah all over… I love walking the puppies, talking beach road trips, running outside, grilling out with the pilot, outside activities. Winter bans us to indoors most of the time because I can’t stand the cold. I grew up in Arizona, and the hotter it is outside, the better 😀 All I can say is I’m SO thankful that spring is right around the corner….

Are you a winter girl, or a summer girl, like me?

Well it’s time for me to train a couple of clients, head to the gym for the second half of pilates, booty shake it in Zumba, then train another client before coming back to make raw malted chocolate tarts.

Have a lovely night <3

Bella is such a little cutie. I didn’t realise that she is a maltipoo, just like my little guy Scruffy! She could be his girlfriend!! Scruffy is a bit of a ‘player’ – he is popular with the girl doggies!

I live in Gilbert, AZ and I love winter! We can actually do things outside without melting. Winters are awesome in AZ. Did you really like the summers here? It is SO hot. Spring and Fall are my most favorite seasons, I wish they weren’t so short. Summer lasts forever. We have been having lots of rain here and snow up north. I’m trying to enjoy it as much as I can, summer and the heat will be here before I know it. 🙁

I am a Florida native and it soooo shows in the “winter” down here. We have had one of the coldest winters this year and I was just complaining about it this evening. I am so ready for Spring to get here. Bring on the sunshine and bikini weather! haha

I had a friend say to me, I thought you didn’t run outside unless it was 75 degrees, LOL!Tomorrow it’s supposed to snow ALL DAY! ;)Ack!

    Hey Gina ~
I’m with you on the sunshine. It just makes me feel so much more alive. Even now (-3 degrees C where I am) I still sleep with the window open for some air. Arizona is one of my most favorite places on this planet, I go back everytime a chance presents itself (I even get excited when you go back, so I can see the photos, ha ha).

I live in New England (CT) and winters can be a “bleep”. But you have to be ready for it living here! I have been here all my life, so winters are a given. having said that, my favorite season is Fall. If you haven’t seen the colors here in the fall, your missing out!!! Currently, its snowing out. we are having our first “Squall” of 2010, whatever the hell that is. im ready for sunshine myself. Vitamin D supplements dont do it!!

  12. Lisa on January 28, 2010 at 8:42 am

Oh no you didn’t! I see some other Northerners have ribbed you already, but I figure I’ll throw my voice in as well. 🙂 We’ve currently got a lake effect snow storm going on here in West Michigan and the temp is in the low teens. I’d say Fall is my favorite season because its harvest season and that’s when this area really comes alive. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as picking an apple and eating it right under the tree it came from.

    Hi Gina,
Pictures look great in sunlight. Haven’t had a chance to view the video, will do it this evening.
I tried the egg puffs….got to say, it didn’t look anything like yours. Could you pls put up a pic of the glass dish and maybe more pics of the process. 🙁
Indian food…come’on over…will cook indian food every day for you 🙂

    • Fitnessista on January 28, 2010 at 9:27 am

I love winter for the holidays. It just doesn’t feel like the thanksgiving or christmas unless you have to bundle up. But after the holidays winter needs to be over! I have two kids, so being cooped up inside for too long can test everyone’s sanity, ha. Bring on the spring and summertime!! 🙂

  15. Lisa on January 28, 2010 at 9:54 am

I agree w/ Laura; winter for the holidays then I’m done. But, here in south georgia it feels like a jungle from july to september. I think I like spring and fall for here. I’m ready for longer hours of daylight!

  16. Running Betty on January 28, 2010 at 10:33 am

Totally a summer girl. Now that I live in Florida I feel so spoiled. Except that one day we were at the Disney Cross Country Classic and it was 103 degrees. But only because I was supposed to be all cute hanging out with the moms while watching kids drop out of the race dehydrated and foaming at the mouth. Instead I jumped around the course so I could watch my daughter, take pictures, and just let myself sweat and decided not to care. http://runningbetty.com/weekend-recap-2
It was nice that we had 2 weeks of cold here though, just to experience it. But in Florida the sun is still shining when it’s 45 degrees outside! Love it!

  17. Ash @ Good Taste. Healthy Me on January 28, 2010 at 12:21 pm

I am a total summer person. Winter definitely makes me sad 🙁

  18. Geetha on January 28, 2010 at 1:12 pm

yay!!!…can’t wait for the egg puff video 🙂
I like moderate weather…nothing too hot or too cold..fall and spring will be great! 🙂

  19. All Women Stalker on January 29, 2010 at 11:19 am

Gotta love your food-tography! You’re already making me hungry. And hmmm, I’m more of a winter girl, though. I love the cold weather; it makes me just want to curl up in bed.
