Bods in the Pods + Fashion Friday
Hi guys! How are you?? Hope youโve had a lovely Fashion Friday so far! Iโm so, so glad yaโll liked our goofy TurboFire video. My husband is a ham and Iโm having a blasty with the workouts. For the record, I am in no way affiliated with Beachbody โif I was, I would definitely tell you! I turned down offers to become a BeachBody coach because I want this to be a *blog* not a *blog-mercial* ๐ I just love you guys too much, mmm k?
I started off my day with a superfood bfast cookie:
-1/2 C oats
-1 serving brown rice protein (praying Sun Warrior gets here tomorrow! Itโs not the same)
-1/2 T maca
-1 T goji berries
-1/2 banana
-almond milk
-1 T almond butter
+ taught a schweaty bootcamp class. LOTS of running and legs todayโฆ buahaha >:)
Snack time:
Organic apple and hefty local blueberries
I ran some errands and took a lil nap โI didnโt sleep at ALL last night!- and then had a date with this thingโฆ
The bod pod!
You can read about my last experience in the bod pod *here* and *here*
Iโve been wanting to get my body fat tested again since I finished Insanity, and finally got around to it ๐
Results:
-Body fat went down 0.5%
-Weight went down 1lb
Iโll take measurements this weekend and add them to my End of Insanity re-cap, so itโs all in one place. (Nope, Iโm not posted specific numbers, just the change in numbers)
I knew Iโd be hungry after the test, so I had made a kidney bean spread with kidney beans, garlic, sea salt, cumin and cayenne:
Spread it on an oat bran pita with some arugula:
and broke the rule of not eating in my new car ๐
I came home with new toys for the puppers from Walgreens- Viesaโs is like a mini stuffing-free replica of her!
Time to train two clients and then meeting friends for drinks + dinner.
Enjoy your night!

Something to do: Shop it up! Heh heh. Itโs FASHION FRIDAY and hereโs what Iโm loving this weekโฆ
Crochet!
Crochet is one of those styles that I ALWAYS get rid of.. and then always buy again when it comes back in style, like 2 years later. I love how clean, feminine and casual crochet pieces are.
This season, you can find crochet everywhere, from handbags to shoes.
Here are some of my fave picks:
Pick one crocheted piece at a time- donโt want to look like granny made your entire outfit. (Which would be baller, but Iโd recommend sticking to one piece)
Looks hawt with silver or gold accessories, strappy platforms + denim
Are you rocking crochet this season??
Have a great night and Iโll see ya tomorrow!
VIESA is SO CUTE. I want to steal her.
I love the kidney bean spread! I make bean spreads all the time- it’s my absolute favorite quick and easy meal. The crochet is very cute. I like the purplish top and the Victoria’s Secret dress. Oh and the shoes. ๐ Happy Friday!
Gotta say I’m not doin crochet…..maybe I haven’t found the right item or found one made in a light enough fabric-seems too heavy for summer.
The crochet is really cute – I agree!
have not gotten into crochet. not a huge fan, although that tank and necklace is great!!!
Whenever u show pics of viessa it looks like she is staring into my soul!! She looks so intelliget and mischevious. I normally don’t think I’m too fashion forward but I’m wearing a top with a crocheted neckline!! Yay! Happy weekend!
hahaha! that’s probably one of the best comments EVER. and yes, viesa is wise and can look deep into souls ๐
that bean spread looks amazing… I don’t know why I’ve never done this?
I love that necklace!! so funky!
Congrats on the POD results!! Bean spread looks DELISHYYYY ๐
Loving fashion Friday…my momma is amazing @ crochet–she totally needs to jump on this trend!! Have some wine for me…Happy Friday!!!
Hi Gina!
I got my Sun Warrior, can’t wait to try it! Definitley tomorrow morning, yippee.
You first turned me on to the hemp protein powder and now this, thanks!
Love your blog chickie!
Love bean spread. Beans make everything yummy!
oh bean spread, how i love thee! i love crocheted backs on tanks this season…it’s sporty, but super feminine all at the same time!
I love crocheted outfits…so feminine, summery and soft! I’m a fan!
That first crochet dress is adorable!! I have this one oversized crocheted sweater that I wear in the fall/winter with leggings and I love it. I haven’t really rocked it this summer, though.
A drop in body fat is always good…I’d take it ๐ How much do you pay to get a bod pod reading? Or is it free for you?
it’s free on base ๐
ohh its cute! i would have never thought!! have you ever done the hydrostatic weighing? that stuff is CRAZY I had to do it in college in my exercise physiology lab and it was quite an experience!
no i haven’t but i would love to!
Oh my, yes, that bean spread looks tasty. I agree with Erin!! Beeeeeeans rule.
So my Turbo Fire came today!!! I tried the first one (the one your doing in your video). Oh. My. I am a train wreck, yo! I’m a fitness instructor and I teach cardio classes with simple, easy-to-follow moves but yet the workouts are super effective. So when I tried this a little bit ago, I was like ‘ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!’ And yes, I did the one where she sorta explains the moves. Crap. I shall not give up. I will try that first workout until I have it down, because I have a feeling that once I get it, I’ll love it. I hope.
I have a similar racer tank to that one pictured from Lucky that I bought in Hawaii last summer. Anyway, I was wearing it one day and this lady literally comes up to me and basically started “petting” by back! She could not get over all the detailing and was just ooo-ing and ahh-ing over it! It was definitely an experience! But yes, croquet comes in and out of style but it’s a nice touch to have a few pieces that have some croquet detatiling.
Ooh, where’d you find the oat bran pita?
publix ๐
Bloggie-infomercial…yeah, I hear ya. I get lots of offers and you probably get tons more! but yes, being careful about not turning it into a free-for-all infomercial b/c that’s not so fun, I hear you loud and clear ๐
Crocheting! My grandma and I used to crochet together when I was a little girl. The memories are awesome but unfortunately, I dont remember any stitches!
Bod Pod..way to go with the % changes! I had mine done every other week leading up to my show from my trainer with calipers but I’d love to try the Pod one day!
Have a beautiful weekend sweetie!! ๐
I think tomorrow i might actually make that breakfast cookie ๐ i’ve been eyeing it for awhile but i cant help be iffy if it’ll fuel me through crosscountry!
crochet! i’ve never rocked that trend completely, but i do have alot of the tanktops with the detailing on the back ๐
This is super random, but where did you find the Mung bean pasta? i’ve been DYING to try it.
whole foods ๐
I actually just bought my first crochet item. Too cute!
-Kati @ beautyandafeast
i think crochet is cute but i don’t think it’s me. i feel all awkward in it
Mmmm…bean spread!
Looks so yum.
Just wanted to say that my Sun Warrior came today! I ordered the chocolate, and just whipped up a smoothie that is seriously one of the best protein smoothies I’ve ever had. I was really nervous about the stevia since I really don’t have a taste for it, and some of the reviews online were pretty harsh about the stevia taste. I used 1 cup milk, 1/c frozen blueberries, 1/2 frozen banana, and 1 scoop powder, and it was perfectly sweet with an AWESOME texture. LOVE IT-Thank you!
YES! i’m so glad you liked it! ๐
I don’t think I own anything crochet, but I love the look of tank tops with a crochet back like that!
I think using crochet as an accessory is super cute!
I have to tell you, I enjoyed indian food wednesday last night (thursday) AND today, friday! My mom got take out with my sister and they had leftovers. Tofu masala and eggplant bartha my fav. i have a nice lil bartha baby right now and just thought you would appreciate that, haha ๐
whoo hoo! love it ๐
Is there a way to accurately test your body fat by yourself? I read somewhere about measuring certain body parts, and weighing yourself and then doing a calculation- is that accurate? or do you have a better way? Thanks!
no, there’s not an accurate way to test it by yourself- the most accurate way would be to get in the bod pod or have a trainer test it with calipers
I have a crochet top, similar to the one you posted. I always get compliments on my shoulders & back when I wear it. ๐
i was thinking about how you said when you first got into the bod pod that you were surprised by your body fat percentage the first time so i was wondering if you were surprised that it went down .5%.. did you expect that number or did you expect more or less?? I don’t know if that’s a lot or not??
either way i think you are a BEAST for completing insanity and starting turbo fire!
i expected more, but i’ll take it – progress is progress
My Grandma crocheted ALL the time. She died a number of years ago. I had a baby last year and when I was pregnant I was thinkin of all the things she had made my other kids. I didn’t think any of it was left (they are almost 18 and 15). My Mom surprised me at my baby shower with a jacket, booties and bonnet my Grandma had made. My Mom remembers my Grandma telling her she didn’t know who it was for, but she wanted to try out the pattern and use up some yellow yarn. I BAWLED for like an hour. Everytime I saw it in her closet I would well up. Crochet rocks in my world!
P.S. She had like a dozen pairs of shoes like that. That made me giggle. I didn’t know how fashion forward Frieda was!
And…http://www.people.com/people/gallery/0,,20400369,00.html I saw this tonight, it seriously will be all the rage!
Can’t say that I’m rocking the crochet this time around…..who knows…maybe it will grow on me?
A lot of bloggers that I read have recently been promoting their e-books or e-courses. Then they have other bloggers promote them as well. I was was just thinking today that I’m kinda getting tired of reading these “blog-mercials”. I do like reading product reviews and learning about products bloggers use. But, you are right, it can get to be too much. I am pretty new to your blog and I really like it. I am a military wife as well!
welcome to the little blog ๐
i always love to hear from fellow military wives!
I have a couple tanks that have the crochet. I love it. I’ve even rocked them on night’s out to a fraternity house (or two!)
Hey Gina I have a question about working out a home, is it necessary to wear shoes? I can wear tennis shoes out or at the gym but for some reason at home it drives me crazy!! Do you think it’s necessary?
some people can workout without shoes, but i’m not one of those people! if it’s feels ok to ya, i don’t see why not ๐ i have a pronation with one of my feet, so wearing shoes keeps it stabilized so i don’t twist an ankle or anything
I never thought I would say I was a crochet girl… but I love it, too!!
You are so genuine and lovely. Thank you for being so real…always. Gina, you’re an inspiration to us all!
thank you <3 and thank you for reading!! ๐
Aw I used to love crotchet! Haven’t tried it in a while though:0
Have a great Saturday!
I feel like a little crochet accent is great, but i’m not into a whole outfit of it. Thanks for not being a blog-mercial!
Question on the bod pod, do I need to have gym membership to use it? I always want to do BMR testing, body fat percentage testing etc but dunno where to go. Any recommendation for someone living in So Calif?
it depends.. i’d call around local gyms to see if they offer it and what the cost is. for military (and dependents), it’s free on base
i NEED to try a breakfast cookie!!! xx
yes, yes you do ๐
Hi Gina, Do you know if every Air Force base has a bod pod? Hubby and I are moving to Mildenhall next month and I would love to have my body fat tested occasionally.
i’m not sure- give them a call and see if their gym or hawc (health and wellness center) has one. some places charge $50 for it, so it will be awesome if they have it on base for FREE!
I love those shoes, super cute!
