We’ve spent almost all of our Friday outside- it’s the “sweet spot” in Tucson when the scorching heat takes a vacay and pleasant breeze takes over. It’s short-lived before it becomes freeeeeezing (which in AZ is about 30-40*- I’m a wuss and I know it), so I love to take advantage of this time as much as possible.

We took the highchair outside to enjoy lunch on the patio,
and then at the park later that day.
We shared some Puffs while sitting on a blanket, in the fresh air, surrounded by trees and soft green grass. Not.too.shabby.
Earlier in the afternoon, when Liv went down for her nap and I knew we wouldn’t be in the backyard for the rest of the day, I took care of two little projects.
Took a hint from Young House Love and oiled our outdoor teak furniture
and spray-painted the “H” for our photo wall.
I finally have all of the frames and photos ready to go, so the Pilot said he’d hang it this weekend. I’m so excited to see how it comes together!
Speaking of the Pilot… this makes me laugh.

Some recent eats:
Chipotle shrimp tacos
(veggies from the farm, black beans and shrimp with cayenne, butter, chipotle chiles, lime juice, salt, pepper and hot sauce)
and a caprese snack, using the gorgeous beefsteak tomato.
Some of the produce has been tossed in the juicer to enjoy, but not that tomato- I was saving it for something special.
This morning, I’m off to teach (Zumba day!) and not are what we’re up to tonight. Tucson Eat Yourself… I mean “Meet Yourself” is this weekend, so I’m sure we’ll be hitting that up at one point or another. I’m also scheming workout topics and recipes for the upcoming week.

Oh God, don’t insult your husband like that! Paul Ryan is a pathetic little weasel.
With all due respect, why is he a pathetic little weasel? Because he’s not lying to the American people and sending our country to hell in a hand basket like the current “pathetic weasel” in office? Because he actually believes in upholding the Constitution and our American exceptionalism? Because he actually has worked HARD and doesn’t go golfing every week and doesn’t go to Vegas when our ambassador has been murdered?
If that’s why he’s a pathetic little weasel…
I have no words. Except for PLEASE educate yourself instead of drinking the Kool-Aid and read about our history and read the Constitution.

I was keeping it light-hearted in the spirit of my blog’s normal tone. There are plenty of other bloggers in the sea who push their beliefs and offer a space for political discourse- this is not one of them
I mean this in the nicest way, really, but if you don’t want people to express their political opinions during a very, very heated time in politics, then I would suggest not posting a picture of Paul Ryan on your blog.
ETA: When I initially made that statement I was talking about his looks, anyway. But whatever.

This is not the first time you’ve posted politically suggestive content and then called foul when other people responded to it. You brought it up, and I’m not going to apologize for commenting on a politician whose views make me sick to my stomach and sincerely scared for the future of women’s rights when yiu brought it up. We’re talking about a man who voted against considering the Violence Against Women Act and who has supported redefining rape.
If you don’t want the conversation on your blog, then don’t start it.

You’re right, you didn’t ask me to apologize. To me, though, your comment had a scolding tone to it so I was reacting to that.
And we’ll have to agree to disagree about you starting the conversation. You posted a picture of a politician in the middle of a very heated campaign season. What exactly did you think would happen? No one would have a reaction, just like when you posted about the troops fighting “evil”?
It was simply a picture. Get a hold of yourself. Nothing is more disgusting than when someone is so irrational and unable to control themselves that they have to jump on every person who dares even mention a candidate they disagree with. It shows a clear lack of maturity, and class.
Why would you think it’s your place to lecture Gina on HER blog?
She didn’t say a thing about politics. She was posting a comparison picture somebody else sent her.
I personally would be disgusted if somebody compared my husband to Ryan the man (and doubly so if hubby was a military man putting his life on the line daily) but why get so worked up over a silly physical comparison?
Love your blog, Gina and since it is YOUR blog I hope you continue to post whatever the heck makes YOU happy.

Paul Ryan and everything he stands for makes me so sad.
I work as a sexual assault counsellor and see first hand the devastating impact it has on women’s lives.
We need to take better care of each other, as women, mothers, sisters, daughters and friends.
Show some class.

We’re going on a picnic today too! Taking our 6 month old to a park out here in Virginia Beach. And that Paul Ryan doppelganger is funny! Not so sound creepy but Paul is probably much older and not as good looking, but there’s still a slight resemblance lol.
Ha, you are right that the resemblance is there but also correct that your hubs is way ahead in the attractiveness category. Ha! Also, I’m jealous of your AZ weather. It’s freezing in MN right now!

I need to try a caprese salad, I never have before! Time to make note of this at the grocery store. Also, superbly jealous of your 30-40 degree winters….I’m in Wisconsin so there’s no saying how cold it will get.

It is definitely tomato season over here, my dad is obsessed with his tomatoes plants and we have a lot of those fun red things in everything we eat these days. In fact I’m experimenting with canning this year, wish.us.luck. HAHA.

Personally I don’t think the Pilot looks like Paul Ryan at all….Ryan has weird bug eyes and his ears look really big because his face is like squashed. The Pilot may have similar ears but they don’t look so big since his face his longer. Just my observation haha.

If you didn’t want to start a conversation about politics then don’t post a political figure’s picture on your blog. Just common sense stuff there. If someone said your husband looked like Joe Biden and you posted a picture of the two side by side (that would be weird because Biden is way too old for you, lol), I think you would have similar reactions. If you want to keep this blog lighthearted and politics free, then keep the political figures off of it as well. Just some unsolicited advice from the wife of a politician.

I think my chance to enjoy the last bits of good weather is over. Yesterday in Boston it was 31 degrees when I woke up. I have the feeling (and I would call that feeling “dread”) that the first snow is not too far off for us. Sometimes I wish I lived in AZ too!
