11/18: Video of the day

It was a perfectly lazy and lovely Sunday.

We walked at Sabino Canyon while the Pilot and my stepdad ran, enjoyed time hanging out at the house and fought the urge to put up Christmas decorations, even though they’re beckoning to me.

Sabino

The highlight of the night was teaching at a Zumbathon to raise funds to implement Zumbatomic (Zumba for kids!) classes at Tucson schools.

Zumbathon

Lisa took some amazing pictures, which I’ll post in the am because they’re on her camera, but in the meantime, here’s a legendary video:

(Sasha and myself dancing with Joe)

This video is supremely awesome because Joe is in his 70s and still does Zumba everyday.

The greatest thing about the Zumbathon was the incredible age diversity in the crowd. Great inspiration to teach kids that fitness can indeed be a lot of fun, and motivation to take care of your health, because it can serve you well in the long run.

I came home to put Oliv to bed, grab a change of clothes and now the girls and I are going out. I don’t even know what to wear to go “out” anymore ;)

See ya in the morning!

xoxo

  3. Aww.. thanks for the video! Totally made me smile!

  4. Have fun going out tonight girl! I need to have a girls night out soon!

  5. A zumbathon sounds like a blast! I’m also having to resist the urge to put up Christmas decorations! But I’m trying to convince myself to enjoy my fall decorations until Friday at which point its going to be Christmas everywhere! Have fun tonight! I feel like girls night are so much more rare after kids, which only makes them more special!

  6. Awwr love that video! I definitely hope that I’ll still be dancing when I’m in my 70’s :D

  7. Have a blast out tonight!!! I haven’t been out since before my girls! Madness!

  8. If I was a 70 year old man, I would go to Zumba every day too! Dozens of young women shaking their booty? Yes please!

Frankie Manning is totally my idol — he was one of the original swing dancers at the Savoy ballroom who helped bring about the current swing dancing revival. He would have a birthday bash every year and dance with as many women as he was old. He passed away shortly before his 95th birthday, but he was dancing until the end! “You don’t stop dancing because you get older, you get older because you stop dancing.”

  9. That is such an amazing cause!!!! I know I personally always get very passionate about causes where the impact can be seen locally, great work!!

  10. Go, Joe! That is so awesome! Love that video!

  11. Sounds like so much fun! Good for Joe! One of my favorite Zumba participants is in her late 70’s and still shows up every week. Totally awesome

  12. I hope that one day I can be the oldest in a work-out class and still going strong!!!
BTW – I spent all day yesterday working on my Christmas decorations (almost done) – I couldn’t help it, I want to start enjoying them!!!
