Cut it off!

Hi friends! How are you? Hope you’re having a glorious Sunday morning 🙂

Thank you so much for your sweet comments on the Pilot’s return. It still doesn’t feel real <3

us

Last night, we went with the fam to Pinnacle Peak for dinner. The Pilot wanted a steak, and I’d been wanting to take him there since it’s a total tourist trap- he’ll need to know all of the random places we’ll go when people come to visit 😉

It’s located in a plaza with Western-style stores:

trail dust

photo ops

boys

and the restaurant itself has ties lining the ceiling, since they’re forbidden.

ties

So of course, all of the boys wore ties 🙂

ties (2)

They make a big hooplah over the ties-  the “sherrif” comes over to the table banging a cowbell

trev

they order the “law-breakers” stand up and each of their ties are cut off, to be hung on the ceiling.

Despite the pomp and circumstance, dinner was pretty delicious.

I had a club soda and SALMON 🙂

salmon

(Shrimp skewer shared with the Pilot, rice donated to my uncle)

some broccoli + salad with Italian dressing:

Iceberg lettuce salads usually aren’t my thang –I like dark mixed greens better- but last night, it was perfect and refreshing 🙂

After dinner, we walked around the little shops, I hung out with the fam and Meg, and the boys were goofballs together.

Everything is as it should be 🙂

We’re off to see what kind of shenanigans we can get into today. See ya later!

xoxo

Something to talk about: Do you have a tourist trap restaurant in your area? Do you ever go there, or stay far away?

    That’s funny about the ties!

Mall of America is a total tourist trap…I enjoy going, but definitely not on the weekends..it’s too crazy in there!

What a fun night out!!! 🙂

Near where I live in the Canadian Rockues there is a whole tourist trap of a village!!!! It’s alpine themed and the Platzl (yes, they use the German name) is kitsch to the extreme!!! We’re talking cookoo clocks and the some world famous accordion festival! lol

Mind you the have an uber delicious bakery and cute farmer’s market so I still head on over once in a while! 😉

  6. Jenn @ Cooking Aweigh the Pounds on May 22, 2011 at 11:06 am

Pike Place Market and the Space Needle, but they are beautiful tourist traps so I don’t mind. 🙂

Looks like so much fun! I love the tie thing! The only time I’d ever heard of it was on an episode of Frasier.

  7. Julie @ Shining From Within on May 22, 2011 at 11:08 am

that’s so cool with the ties lol! Happy for you to have the Pilot back 🙂

Cute! what a fun restaurant 🙂 Hmmmm we used to have a Planet Hollywood here in Vancouver, but that is gone….now we are just full of one off amazing restaurants that are expensive, but rock 😉

Have a great day full of fun today!!

    xxoo

Awww, so glad you guys had a great time out and so happy that you have your Pilot home!!

Tourist traps, ummm yes. I used to live in Myrtle Beach which was an entire city built on tourist traps from alligators to dueling pianos to nascars. It was…awful to LIVE there full time amidst that all! So now, I stay far, far away from anything remotely “touristy” or “theme” related in San Diego…not that there’s tons of it, but ya know. Skylar will have to beg me long and hard to take her to LeggoLand. lol

  10. Kaylene on May 22, 2011 at 11:35 am

Awww, you’re making me homesick! Even though we’re locals, my family would go to Pinnacle Peak all the time for special occasions when I was young–mostly so my dad could get rid of all the horrible ties we’d gotten him for Christmas that year!

  11. Allison @ Food For Healing on May 22, 2011 at 11:36 am

that restaurant looks very interesting, sounds fun!

  12. Brigid of Vegging out in T-Town on May 22, 2011 at 11:39 am

Ha! That’s funny. We don’t really have tourist traps in Tulsa since we aren’t exactly flush with vacationers. 🙂 Instead, we have yuppie traps that I tend to avoid.

  13. kristi (sweet cheeks) on May 22, 2011 at 11:40 am

The Pilot always has the best facial expressions, haha. Have fun today!!!

  14. The Teenage Taste on May 22, 2011 at 11:45 am

Haha. I love how all the ties are up on the ceiling. Sounds like a cute little restaurant. 😀

  15. Ash on May 22, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Hooray for Pinacle Peak!! I’m not really a steak person, but we always have a good time when we go. And hooray for Pilot’s return. We’re excited to see you guys this week. 🙂

  16. ellalinea on May 22, 2011 at 12:05 pm

So glad your pilot is back!! :))

  17. Danielle (Shrinking and Studying) on May 22, 2011 at 12:07 pm

In my city there is a restaurant on top of a water tower which is always packed with tourists in the summer (which is surprising because my city isn’t really a tourist-y kind of place and the food isn’t that good! 😉 ) I’m so glad the Pilot is home! <3 Warms my little black heart. 😉

  18. Chloe (South Beach Girl) on May 22, 2011 at 12:13 pm

So happy to see you and the Pilot back together!!!! It looks like you all had a great night 🙂

There are definitely tourist traps in my area (ahem, Pike Place Market), and I usually try to avoid them but every once in a while it is fun to go, especially with people from out of town.

  19. Kilee on May 22, 2011 at 12:22 pm

Yah! I looks like you all had a great time out last night. “Everything as it should be” is the perfect description. Take care and enjoy your new chapter in life 🙂

  20. Tenecia on May 22, 2011 at 12:30 pm

I have lived in Tucson almost all of my life and I have not been to Pinnacle Peak! If you want to treat someone to a great steak, check out Silver Saddle (if you haven’t eaten there before).

And woo hoo for the Pilot being back!

I’m so happy for you Gina!! I am super glad your hubby is back where be belongs!! Have a great Sunday!!

  25. Colleen on May 22, 2011 at 1:24 pm

Gotta love the tourist traps. Growing up, I lived in Battle Creek aka Cereal City USA–home to Kellogg’s. Every summer they have a huge “World’s Longest Breakfast Table” breakfast downtown and everyone enjoys cereal together. 🙂 It’s funny how the natives forget about it, but people travel from all over to attend!

  26. Kayla @ Best Things Happen on May 22, 2011 at 2:44 pm

West Edmonton Mall!! I still think it’s fun… it has a huge skating rink in the middle. Don’t bring the credit cards though or you’ll go home broke.
Looks like you’re happy to have the Pilot home!

  27. Ali on May 22, 2011 at 2:57 pm

Your post yesterday was adorable! I am so happy for you two! Since I live in Miami, we have TONS of tourist traps. Most are on South Beach. The food is usually terrible, but the people watching can’t be beat! Mango’s and Wet Willys are two that stand out in my mind. Have a great Sunday!

  28. Sunday Baker on May 22, 2011 at 3:24 pm

How great that you two are together again. I’m a new reader-how long have you been apart? Your hubby looks like he’s a fun guy too! Have a great Sunday 🙂

  29. Chelsa on May 22, 2011 at 3:30 pm

It’s good to see you back with your pilot <3

  30. Cait @ Beyond Bananas on May 22, 2011 at 3:43 pm

Ahahhaah I love the no tie law! If Iam ever a tourist in your area.. I will for sure be drawn into that trap. I guess thats okay.. since I really would be a tourist!

  31. Amber on May 22, 2011 at 4:02 pm

Congrats on having the Pilot home again! You guys look so happy!
I love visiting all of the touristy areas in San Francisco, the vibe is usually just really fun and it makes for
good people watching. We usually wait until it’s not tourist season though, that way the crowds are manageable.

  32. Namaste Gurl on May 22, 2011 at 4:15 pm

Awww, so cute Gina. I couldn’t be more happy for you!

  39. Holly @ The Runny Egg on May 22, 2011 at 8:03 pm

  40. Pure2raw twins on May 22, 2011 at 8:22 pm

what a fun night!! so happy Pilot is back 🙂

  41. Char on May 22, 2011 at 8:32 pm

The tie-cutting is my favourite part. I hope they kept the remainder of their ties…wear to a future wedding? lol

  42. Donna Porter on May 22, 2011 at 8:35 pm

We spent four years in Germany and there is actually a holiday where there is a huge downtown parade and the girls cut off ties from any male bystander. LOL Love it!

  43. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on May 22, 2011 at 9:39 pm

My city is too boring to attract tourists. 😛 That restaurant looks fun though. I’m glad you’re enjoying being back with the Pilot. 😀

  44. Tori (Fresh Fruition) on May 22, 2011 at 10:02 pm

That restaurant sounds so hilariously fun!

A little piece of them will be in that restaurant forever 🙂

  45. Laura @ Backstage Pass to Health & Happiness on May 22, 2011 at 11:09 pm

Haha, sounds like you guys had a blast at the restaurant! The tie outlaw thing is hilarious.
There is a tourist trap right across the street from where I work in downtown Milwaukee… wait for it… The Bronze Fonz, a statue. Yes, as in the Henry Winkler character from Happy Days. It’s pretty funny, and lots of people take their photos with him. Even some of our artists that come through our concert venues think he’s funny! Like Sarah Silverman couldn’t believe it and wanted to get her photo with him. I die!

  46. Mac on May 23, 2011 at 12:26 am

That sounds like such a fun restaurant! We have a place in Eau Claire, where I’m from called Action City, which is really a place for kid (or big adult kids) to go an play games, but you can order some food there as well. I have not had this yet, but they have something called a gorilla pizza and I don’t think there’s anything too special about the pizza, but a giant gorilla delivers the pizza to your table! I want that for my next birthday 🙂

  47. Sydney on May 23, 2011 at 12:33 am

  49. Desi on May 23, 2011 at 3:03 pm

I haven’t been to Pinnacle Peak for years, I should go again I forgot how much fun it can be to take people.
