Don’t mind if I do(nut)

Hiiii 😀 How are you? Hope you had a great Saturday! I’m late blogging tonight because we just got back from the movies 🙂 The Pilot went with my bro to see Hangover 2 and the madre and I went to see Bridesmaids.

If you haven’t seen Bridesmaids yet, it is HILARE.

Of course, it’s crude humor but the story is actually really good. The theatre was packed, so the only two seats together were in the front row, on the side, so madre and I decided to split up so we could actually see. The girl next to me and I became fast friends.. that can happen in movies where you’re crying from laughing so hard.

Some recent eats:

cereal

Brown rice cereal with organic raspberries, almond milk and cinnamon

Protein muffin!

Check out the HEIGHT on that Bad Jonny! Amazing.

A few of ya have asked which substitutions I make with Deb’s recipe, so here ya go:

-brown rice flour

-applesauce instead of pumpkin

-nix the cacao powder and use lots of cinnamon

Top with maple syrup and a blob of almond butter 🙂

Work today was so much fun. Saturdays are extra fantastic because I get to teach Zumba – we had 41 people in there today!!! That’s HUGE for a resort class- usually if I have 25, it’s a great day. I was worried because my energy plummeted around lunch time, but as soon as I walked into the gym, it was back 🙂

The only reason I’m awake this late is because of these:

donutes

Donuts!
My nana is having a brunch tomorrow, so I figured it was a great time to try the Twinnie’s donut mix from my last OpenSky promo.

mix

The donut mix was super easy to put together and required ingredients I already had in the casa. Baller.

batter

Can’t wait to see how they turn out topped with chocolate ganache and sprinkles 🙂

We’ll be off to brunch in the morning, but I promise to be back with a legendary re-cap afterwards [It will be similar to the Easter brunch.. I’m so excited]

Have a great night and I’ll see ya tomorrow <3

xoxo

Something to talk about: Wedding snafus! We were lucky to have a fairly seamless wedding, but we had one major snafu. After the rehearsal, I called the Mexican restaurant where we were having our rehearsal dinner and they had totally forgotten about it… and we had 83 people on the way there (my family is HUGE). The Pilot handled to situation like a pro, and thank goodness the restaurant was able to make it work. It could have easily ended up being pizza night 😉 Did you have any wedding snafus or have you witnessed any good ones?

I just came home from the movie theater and OH MY is Bridesmaids ever hilarious! My only complaint is that they kept mixing up scenes from Milwaukee and Chicago (I’m a MKE girl), and made Milwaukee look way to farm-like in most scenes (though they did do a great job showing out Public Market and Downtown area in the opening shots).
“I’ve got a big bear sandwich… does the big bear want the sandwich? It’s got meat and cheeses…” Hahaha.

PS came back to tell you, ’cause i forgot- I have made protein muffins in the donut tins for a change up and a ‘treat’…just put in a poor-man’s pastry bag (aka a ziplock), cut the end and squirt batter in and bake- yum! 🙂

I’m late catching up on the blog b/ c I just came from a wedding. But, at my wedding when we went to cut our cake we realized our antique bride and groom were glued together. The cake place dropped them and spent more tome gluing them and painting them than making our cake! I was upset but we just had to let it go as one of those wedding memories.

My aunt, who was carpooling with my favorite cousin Rhonda (not the aunt’s daughter) and her daughter who is deaf and has a cochlear (what an amazing gal she is, let me tell you, I love Alex so much!), made everybody late. Since we had the property for the whole day, I pulled a bridezilla (my only one) and said we weren’t gonna go till they got there. Because I didn’t want to hear the next 30 odd years of bewailing from said aunt about how she made my cousins miss my wedding.

Then, while we were waiting for everyone to get there, my best friend from college came over and gave me a hug over on the patio where I was “hiding” from the folks in the seats, and I felt a little “pop” in my dress strap. Took a look, all attached, no biggie.

Got pronounced husband and wife, had the big kiss, got a big hug, *POP*! Strap gave it up and flew off the front of my dress. Turned to the audience, shrugged and said “Guess he’s trying to undress me already” to hysterical laughter…

All in all, not that big a snafu… just funny stuff more than anything!

We were at a friends wedding, a few years back. Midway through the reception, our friend (the groom) had a family issue, which involved the mother & her daughter getting into a fight, which eventually ended up in them hitting one another. YIKES!!!!

My friend, the groom, was mortified (understandably so). After family intervened on the situation, he & I took a shot. I reminded him that we don’t get to choose the families we are born into….

After my brothers wedding (in Turkey to a Turkish woman) we had a reception in a restaurant. Our large party took over the whole inside dining area while other patrons were sitting outside. I was coming out of the bathroom when a guy grabbed my butt really hard that wasn’t part of our group. I was pretty shook up about it because it really hurt, was way more than a normal pinch and not cool at all. I told a few people at my table and pretty soon a fight broke out over the whole thing. I totally didn’t realize what a big deal it would turn into (it’s very insulting in Turkish culture), and felt awful for my new sister-in-law who shed a few tears because of the whole ordeal.

Luckily my wedding went off without a hitch! Only a bit of afternoon rain.

Um… my cake fell over. My aunt and uncle make wedding cakes on the side and they made our cake for our wedding gift. During the last fifteen minutes of our ceremony the cake fell over sideways on the table. Luckily, some friends who were in there setting up grabbed the top two layers and flipped them upright and put the topper back on so it looked like two cakes sitting side by side on the table. It worked great and I didn’t care at all. My aunt was really upset though. I think it makes a great memorable story to tell about our wedding.
