Cabin Feeeeevah
Hi guys! How’s your day been??
Mine has been bueno 🙂 Even though I get a little antsy when I have to stay home sick, I’ve gotta roll with the punches.
I’ve spent the day laying low….
watching profound intellectual films

sorting through mail,
NEW LARABAR FLAVAHHHHS! Thank you, Andi!
eating chocolate
drinking chocolate
lots of tea
and shopping online 😉
I think I FINALLY decided on a camera!
I’m still not a huge fan of DSLRs because they’re so bulky and giant –I love my little point n’ shoot- but think my pictures could be a lot better. I know we’d love having a nicer camera for our next vacay and when we have mini Fitnessistas and Pilots, too 🙂
So what do you think? Those of you who are experienced with DSLRs, please help a chica out- I know nothing about these things.
Well, I’m off to the gym to tell my client I’m still infectious –can’t get a hold of her- and then back to the casa to wear jammies, drink more tea and beg the pilot to stop at Indian on his way home 😀
Enjoy your night!
xoxo,
Gina

Everyone in the blog world seems to have that camera. I have the Nikon d40, and a few lenses for it and I love it. I know they say there really isn’t much difference between the Nikon and Canon’s, they both make a quality dslr, but I guess everyone has to pick a side!
Go with the canon!! They’re fantastic quality cameras. You can always use your point-n-shoot when you want to be inconspicuous.
I use both kinds of cameras very regularly, and I think the best advice is “know your camera.” And of course “know your photo editor.” I’ve gotten some _amazing_ pictures out of a low-quality point and shoot, simply because I paid attention to everything I could control & took full advantage of all features on both the camera and the photo editor. It’s so easy to get drawn in to the big money stuff because of the list of features, but if you’re just taking “normal” kinds of shots (people, food, nifty stuff), you probably don’t need them all.
Another great post pumped with awesome information!! Thanks, girl! Looking forward to the camera feedback – I need to be in the market, too! I thought the housebunny was adorable. hehe
Thank you for linking to that article about restaurants! I definitely learned quite a few things. It was especially interesting that kids’ meals have sugar added… I tend to order them a lot bc I enjoy the small portion sizes! BOO for added sugar.
I secretly loved The House Bunny. When I’m sick all I want is sweet and carbs…piles of syrupy whole-wheat pancakes…but Larabars are probably a better choice 😉 I keep looking for the new flavors! Can’t wait to try.

I have actually found this mini class on photography to be supah dupah helpful with improving my photos on my lil’ point and shoot and on SLR. And it actually helped me to know what to look for in a camera.

Oh and I lurve the blog, its one of the very few that I read daily =D
very good choice in camera! I’m stuck between the XSi and the T1i, they are both REALLY good, but the T1i has a video recorder, which would probably benefit YOU more than it would me. But definitely will be worth it!
Nikon D40 – LOVE IT! Light and user friendly. Check out an expert who gives great advice and reviews on cameras….

I am new to this blog… SOOOOO glad I found you!!!
Cupids Shuffle is one of my FAV dance songs!! A definite must on my wedding playlist!
Oh congrats on the camera purchase! I started to research DSLRs about 3-4 mos ago, got totally overwhelmed, gave up. I am fine with my little point and shoot sony cybershot. But yes, I totally realize my pics could be better. I remember what about 6 mos ago, you bought a new point and shoot? Anyway girl I will be standing by letting you be the guinea pig trying to learn to use that beast. Frankly, Im a lil scared of them..they are so huge and the need to actually focus the lens scares me. But if I can make kombucha, I can use a DSLR I am sure 🙂 LOL
Have a super nite!!!
🙂
I just bought the Canon Rebel XS two days ago and I notice a really big difference in the quality of my photos. I don’t mind the bulkiness yet because the camera is just so nice it’s worth it. Check to make sure the instructional DVD is in the box before you buy it. We didn’t notice that ours was missing until we got home and then when we returned it they wanted to order us a completely new camera. We leave on our honeymoon in 3 days so we didn’t want to wait. We’ve been winging it for the most part and plan to buy a DVD when we return. Good luck!
Haha, I actually thought House Bunny was pretty cute! I just rented Hot Tub Time Machine…don’t judge! 🙂
Hope you are starting to feel better
Haha I’m embarrassed to admit it, but I found the House Bunny to be pretty funny! 😛
Feel better soon!
i think its great especially as a food blogger to have both camera options available! especially when you are out and about its so much easier to carry a point and shoot.
but for home pix nothing beats a dsl.
I have a Nikon D3000 and I love it. I did a comparison between that and the Cannon and I think the Nikon takes somewhat better photos. But if you’re into manual use and playing around with that stuff, then I think either will do a great job!
I love the Canon… it’s amazing how much better pictures come out, even if you don’t know what you are doing!
But.. they are clunky for use on-the-go…
I have that camera and love it! Have lots of food pics on my website if you want to see the quality. Love ur page girl!
Have you heard about the Canon S90? it’s a point and shoot with manual settings. It’s amazing!
Ha!! Love the Cupid Shuffle!!!! None of my friends have heard it!
You’re going to LOVE your Cannon Rebel!!!!
I have the Cannon and looovvvve it! It’s my second one..I broke the prongs when I jammed the memory card on my first one..yikes!
