Latest most random Google search
File this one under creepy pick-up lines.
The other night, I was searching for โDo people speak Dothraki?โ <โ the language that they speak in Game of Thrones. I was ecstatic to find out that yes there are people that INTO IT to learn an entire fictional language, and it also made me stop and think about all of the weird/random things I search for during the day.
In lighthearted jest, many of my friends make fun of my penchant for Googling things. I will google anything and everything, and seriously the thought of Google glasses make my heart giddy with delight because I could instantly find that pair of pants that girl is wearing, or diagnose my illness (kidding but not kidding), or just know random things Iโve always wanted to know. Anyone else? Am I just a weird person with this?
And maybe itโs in my current cold delirium, but I thought this would make a fun idea for a blog post.
Whatโs the most random thing you googled lately?
On my list:
– How to stop thumb sucking. Everyone says โtheyโll stop when theyโre ready,โ but it was causing her jaw and teeth to move. Most of the time she didnโt notice she was doing it, so we would just kindly remind her throughout the day. After about 5 weeks or so, I looked online for other ideas. We ordered these overpriced gloves (โYou get to wear cool gloves like Elsa and these ones have an octopus on them!โ) but she wore them for about 30 seconds. Next, I found this stuff which had good ratings on Amazon. It tastes pretty bitter, and after reading the reviews, I knew to just put a tiny bit on her thumb right on the middle instead of painting the entire nail. I think by this point she was ready to stop; she had no prob with me painting it on after I told her what it was. It worked instantly and P is now the proud owner of the enormous stuffed flamingo sheโs been wanting for at least a month.
– Todayโs Orangetheory workout. (<โ from this past weekend before I came down with this cold thing) Do you guys know about this Reddit thread? Itโs PURE GOLD if youโre an OTF fan. I always lurk the workout or the schedule before I sign up, especially since I only have one class a week. I love knowing the workout in advance so I can pump myself up for it.
– S-corp vs LLC. Iโm going to try and transition to S-Corp for the blog which should be a bundle of fun but worth it for tax purposes.
– Belt bag. I came across this one and itโs pretty lovely. Just not sure 100% on board with the trend yet, so I love that it converts to a regular crossbody,
– What is colloidal silver? Madre dropped some off to me when my throat was hurting like a thousand daggers. She also brought a framed family pic and some Frida Kahlo socks because sheโs the best ever.
– Book suggestions like Crazy Rich Asians. I finished the trilogy and am so sad itโs over. I couldnโt find anything similar that caught my eye, so I downloaded Educated and Where the Crawdads Sing for our trip. Iโd love any must-read suggestions you have.
So tell me, friends: whatโs the weirdest thing you had to know lately?
Have a wonderful day and Iโll see ya soon!

Ps. Amazing Beautycounter promo is live today! Get a free sun set (3 oz. sunscreen mist and 1oz. lotion) when you purchase $125 worth of products. If youโre looking to make a swap to safer options, sunscreen is a great starting point, especially since chemical sunscreens are finally being questioned for their safety. You can check out the article here! If youโre shopping and need help, please let me know! I highly recommend the overnight peel, dew skin, cleansing balm, and the Color Intense lipstick (garden party and brunch are my current faves).
I Google questions about sharks and dinosaurs on the reg for one very curious 3.5 year old. Just FYI, the mako shark is the fastest shark and can reach speeds of 40+ mph. Something I never knew I needed to know. ๐
I read Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton a few weeks ago…it is so good! Reese Witherspoon’s book club has good recommendations. That’s where I got this one from and they announce a monthly pick on instagram .
I also Google everything! We have a Google home mini that we ask things of, but she seems to know far less than regular Google.
Sore throats are the worst. Did the Colloidal Silver help your sore throat?
In the spirit of googling I looked up colloidal silver. It does NOT seem safe. Iโm surprised that itโs even mentioned on the blog from what I read…
There are many different types of silver and the articles online that state itโs unsafe are for a specific type (and for people who took obscene amounts and made their skin grey!). I think everyone should discuss the remedies they use with their doctor. Hereโs an interesting study about it;
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/21946445/
I’m currently reading (and really enjoying) Atomic Habits by James Clear. If you’re looking for something light-hearted and entertaining, I read the Heather Wells series by Meg Cabot years ago and loved it. Where the Crawdad Sings is good, I almost gave up in the beginning, but it ended up being worth it ๐
I also google thinks a lot… I think it’s pretty normal these days!
I Google a lot and sometimes it’s weird, but I am always comforted to know I’m never the only person who has asked the odd question because answers always pop up haha.
Yesterday I had to Google the difference between communicable disease vs infectious disease for my REHS exam. As far as reading recommendations, I liked The Alice Network and Next Year in Havana. Sadly, I wasnโt a fan of Educated, but clearly Iโm in the minority on that.
In the spirit of Googling, after I finished Educated I Googled everything I could about the family and their business because I couldnโt believe it was real life! It is SO GOOD.
I did the SAME thing after finishing that book!!! Ha!
Honestly, why do people even ask questions anymore? JUST GOOGLE IT!! LOL
YES THIS! I will see FB posts where people ask a question and all I can think is – just google it!! I google all the things. My coworker says she always comes to me because I know so much, but really google is my secret. I know nothing, haha.
You put the link for the nail biting stuff instead of the belt bag! The suspense is killing me…haha!
Shoot! Iโll fix it
I love those Frida socks! Ill have to google that!
here ya go ๐ https://rstyle.me/+2OmtHbyrn5aXXflIInOocA
OMG those two books you mentioned are literally the best books I’ve read in a LONG time. I thought and dreamed about Educated for weeks after I finished it (and read the entire thing in one day). Whereas the Crawdads Sing is so amazingly written, it’s like you feel and see everything like you were there. Can’t wait to hear what you think!!
Google AKA Dr. Google. I love when I start typing and Google can finish my question. It makes me feel like I’m not the only one to ask! I recently looked up the genus and species of dinosaurs. And prehistoric reptiles, birds, sharks, etc. My 4 year old is heavy into dinosaurs! And work related, I had to search ‘fake doctor notes’. Apparently, there’s a market for those! (FYI, not a good idea to use those if you like your job!)
I love reading all of these google searches! I googled “Where do hummingbirds migrate?” and “How fast do hummingbirds fly?” this week because my husband is obsessed with all the hummingbirds coming to our bird feeder. I also googled “How old is Maya Rudolph?” last week while I was watching Wine Country on Netflix because she looks damn good. Then I fell down the rabbit hole and googled the rest of the cast as well.
As a new mom, I donโt know how people parented before Google! (Kidding, kind of)
Where the Crawdads Sing is SO GOOD! I read that a few months ago and it really sucked me in.
I work at a frame shop and someone brought in a print of dogs drinking at a bar (kind-of like the painting of the dogs playing poker) The icing on the cake was the paintings in the bar of humans engaging in dog activities (one being butt sniffing) I was curious how much a print would cost so I googled it. The google search was normal- the name of the painting and artist name, but the results were weird. I got an auction listing for the same photo describing it as “erotic” Like what the heck?! It totally wasn’t.
Shoulder labrum tear
Shoulder labrum tear surgery
How many shoulder surgeries before I need a replacement
I had a water slide “incident” on my 35th birthday a couple of weeks ago ๐
(This will be surgery #3)
I’m re-reading the Lord of the Rings books right now. This also has a HUGE following that is all about learning how to speak and write the elvish language. I guess the Dothraki thing doesn’t surprise me so much now?
I google so many things, too… I frequently google the age of celebrities and famous people. I’m so curious to compare how people age. I think lifestyle has a big impact!
I’ve also been searching for good resort hotels in phoenix/scottsdale for a Thanksgiving weekend getaway for my family…. any suggestions?
Read โOne Day in Decemberโ. I seriously didnโt want it to end!
