Yoga al Fresco
Hi friends Happy Sunday to ya. Hope you’re having a beautiful day.
I started mine off with some brown rice French toast, with organic butter, maple syrup and blackberries
it was uhmazing.
After my breakFEAST, I met up with some friends at the U of A mall for some outdoor yoga.
My friend Liz put the event together as a way to gather donations for the victims of the Tucson tragedy, and also send love and good intentions to everyone who was affected.
3 teachers led us through the 90-minute practice– each one taught for 30 minutes and we followed with a meditation.
I tell you, my friends, NOTHING in the world feels like a sweaty savasana, outside on the mat, with a cool breeze running over your body. I felt so gloriously alive. We’re hoping to make our outdoor yoga sesh a regular thing.
When I got up to leave, my legs were total yoga noodles- lurve.
After yoga, somehow I ended up *here*
(Pretty sure my body has a Whole Paycheck radar.. I’ll just appear there, I have no idea how it happens)
I got a few groceries for the week, but am going to get the rest of the goods at Trader Joe’s and Sunflower Market. On the car ride home, I munched an amazeball:
(Snack of the year award- make these asap, mmm k?)
and 3 gluten-free chocolate chip cookies. They were still frozen and I had to gnaw at them with all of my might, but they were delicious. I figured since I’m starting the doctor detox thang tomorrow, I might as well live it up a little. A few days from now, when I’m really wanting a cookie, I’ll be glad I had a few right before it all started.
We’re driving to the mall right now – the plan is to spend the rest of the day running errands and getting the 2nd Winter Shape Up workout and meals together. Stoked
Have a great day <3
xoxo

Something to think: A lovely reader Lauren sent this quote to me, and it hugged my heart:
"Distance is not for the fearful, it’s for the bold. For those willing to spend a lot of time alone, in exchange for a little time with the one they love. It’s for those who know a good thing when they see it, even if they don’t see it nearly enough."
In Seattle there’s a yoga place with rooftop yoga in the summer. Gloooorious.
aww, i love that quote. it’s so perfect, and only people in long distance relationships can really understand how amazing and worth it the short amounts of time are that you get to spend with your love.
and i’m jealous of your outdoor yoga experience. that sounds so perfect.
I’m so jealous of that gorgeous weather! We’re currently going through a major deep freeze. 😛
I wish it was warm enough here to do yoga outdoors here. That looks like so much fun!!! I agree, there is nothing better than experiencing the joys of yoga in the wonderful outdoors!
Yum French Toast! 😀
I’m with all the others that have too cold of weather to do yoga outdoors. You are a lucky girl! 🙂
Love that quote.
Im stealing this quote for my quote page. I love it!
i would buy ALL those blueberries, i love blueberries hehe.
oh my that weather looks awesome. canada is so sad ha
I love this quote, wrote it down for myself to remember. French toast is my weakness, I want it for BF, lunch and dinner. Must get hold of brown rice bread as I have never tried it. Hope tomorrow your fast goes well for you.
definitely not a fast! just a different eating plan i have to follow
Love that quote, I’m pretty sure I’m signing up for a half iron man (70.3, 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 run) on Tuesday and I need all the courage I can to go through with registering. Once I’m committed to it, it’s game on 😀
Love the yoga pics, unfortunately I can’t do yoga. I’m very un-flexible and trying to improve my flexiblity just aggravates my abnormal hip (I suffered from legg-calve perthes as a child and still have a abnormal shaped hip flexor). I’ve tried and it only give me pain, so I just stick with what works, no stretching 😀
ohhh i didn’t think of the quote as being related to relationships (I see it now), but I think it works in both aspects 😀
Hey i did yoga- hot power yoga – and a guided meditation class today, was so good, love it!!
How is brown rice bread – does it taste different?!
is very dense and chewy- kind of like millet bread
I looooooooooooooooooooove outdoor yoga classes! Can I come, can I come?!
Surely a flight from Australia for a yoga class isn’t too dramatic? 😉
Your yoga looks fabulous! I wish it was warm enough here to do that sort of thing, you lucky duck. I’m making your amazeballs today, I’m sure they will live up to the hype!
LOVE the amazeballs. I’ve been making them constantly for snacky sweet treats..thanks for another wonderful idea!
Aww U of A! Cannot believe you’re living it up at my university while I’m studying abroad in Espana! I bet the weather’s gorgeous there…and the mall looks great, of course! hahaha
And ooh Whole Food’s. YUM. I am loving it here but seriously missing some of my favorite snacky foods (aka pretzels and hummus) !!
doing yoga outside sounds amazing to me…especially on those awesome spring days where the breeze is cool and your skin is soaking up the sun 🙂
I agree, there is something very special about doing yoga outside. I attended an outdoor class on a sunny, warm and breezy early September day in Connecticut a few years ago. It was held at a local park that overlooked a marina, so we had a view of trees *and* water…just lovely. After class one of the students catered a raw food feast! It was such an amazing afternoon! It honestly felt magical.
I love looking at pictures with NO snow on the ground. I didn’t think it was possible being I’m stuck in like the snowiest place on earth–glad you enjoyed your yoga!
that quote is amazing. I need to write it down somewhere, so I could read it when it gets lonely.
Yoga outside sounds so lovely, I would want to try that!
Something about doing yoga outdoors that just livens the soul, eh? 😉
LOVE that quote!! Thanks for sharing it with all of us <3
Oh man that outdoor yoga looks amazing! Its a little cold here for that… been -40 celcius with the windchill… but I’m heading to Costa Rica in a couple weeks so I might have to do some tropical beach yoga!!
I used to send that qoute in cards to my long-distance boyfriend!! (Now fiance 🙂 )
Outdoor Yoga looks great! 🙂
