Incredible Edible

Hiiiii ๐Ÿ˜€ Happy Friday! How are you?? So apparently Nestle is hot? Haha. Heโ€™s always been a friend so Iโ€™ve never thought of him that way, but now that yaโ€™ll mentioned it, I guess he is nice to look at ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe I need to start doing a featured single pilot of the week post ๐Ÿ˜‰

lilies

(One of my lilies tried to jump ship, so I put it in a little vase by itself)

This morning I was supposed to teach YogaTone, but it was a slow morning at the studio so I didnโ€™t end up teaching.

Instead I took Bell for a walk,

canyon

and then met with a friend at the Delicious Egg for breakfast.

I had a small orange juice and the usual:

Egg white and seven veggie omelet, black beans and salad.

photo (22)

It was pretty good ๐Ÿ˜‰

[Side note: icky iPhone photos! Iโ€™m thinking itโ€™s time to invest in a point-and-shoot to have in my purse. The DSLR is a pain to lug around everywhere and I think Iโ€™d take more pics if I had a point-and-shoot with me all the time]

Iโ€™m off to a meeting with Cameron and Garrett to go over social media stuff (very exciting!) and then have another very important appt at 2pm <3 Iโ€™m excited/nervous/a little stressed about it.

Iโ€™m off to seize the day and everything ๐Ÿ˜‰ See ya later this afternoon with a post on plateaus + a fashion page update.

xoxo

The more I food blog and see other bloggers’ food photography, the more I think I need to stop using my blackberry as a point-and-shoot. I look forward to reading what other commenters have to advise about camera recommendations.

  2. Vivianne on May 20, 2011 at 12:57 pm

I just bought a DSLR, but the nikon coolpix have had great reviews and they are cheaper than a DLSR!

  3. Amy on May 20, 2011 at 12:59 pm

I need to invest in a new camera as well! I’ve been relying on my iPhone 4 usually…but just started blogging and need to step mah game up ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. AJ on May 20, 2011 at 12:59 pm

Haha. Nestle does look like quite the dreamboat and obviously THE pilot does as well. I think the uniform, coverall thing they wear makes them look quite attractive. Blame the whole “man in uniform” thing, but it is so true! When I dated a guy who was an Airforce Crew Chief, I would see pics of him in that type of thing, and I would swoon, for sure : )

I’m in need of a new point & shoot myself. Happy weekend!

  6. Dynamics on May 20, 2011 at 1:02 pm

Cannon. Mine is four years old and still takes amazing pictures. It is small, lightweight and handles the abuse it now receives. The newer models are even smaller and even more amazing.

  7. Holly @ The Runny Egg on May 20, 2011 at 1:04 pm

I have a Canon Powershot and it hasn’t really let me down!

Good luck with all of your appointments!

  8. Shanna, Like Banana on May 20, 2011 at 1:04 pm

I say go with Canon — they seem to produce really great pictures!

  9. Allison @ Food For Healing on May 20, 2011 at 1:06 pm

i have a point and shoot in my purse. I can’t remember what kind it is exactly, my bf bought it a couple years ago for me, its a higher end one.
im pretty sure almost any point and shoot would be good.

I would love to visit Arizona one day, looks beautiful ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Amanda @ The Beauty Notebooks on May 20, 2011 at 1:06 pm

I will definitely appreciate everyone’s recommendations, too–in need of a new point and shoot, as well!

  11. Lindsay@LivingLindsay on May 20, 2011 at 1:07 pm

Our wedding photographer told us to always buy a Canon. They were pretty convincing and sayd you can never go wrong with a Canon. We’ve never bought anything else. And our families have Canon point and shoots, too. They take great pics and are easy to use. ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Kristen @ Chocolate Covered Kristen on May 20, 2011 at 1:09 pm

I swear by my Canon Powershot.

  13. Brandi on May 20, 2011 at 1:12 pm

I have a Canon Powershot SD1400 and I love it. It’s my second Canon camera and they are very reliable, compact, and have a ton of features.

Plus mine came in Hot Pink. ๐Ÿ™‚ Cant go wrong witha a pink camera!

  14. kristi (sweet cheeks) on May 20, 2011 at 1:13 pm

canon is the best!! I love my point and shoot..it’s very small and not a pain at all to have in my purse. You won’t regret it!

  15. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on May 20, 2011 at 1:13 pm

I’d be up for a single pilot of the week post fo sho!! LOL! I rarely use my point and shoot any more because I have an iPhone 4 and the picture quality is awesome! (All of the photos on my blog for about the last 8 months were taken with my iPhone). Maybe you could trade yours in for the new model?

  16. BethT on May 20, 2011 at 1:15 pm

I love my Canon S90 Powershot – great point n shoot!

    Thinking of you!

  17. Jill {i run i eat} on May 20, 2011 at 1:17 pm

I have a Canon powershot & love it.

  18. Laura on May 20, 2011 at 1:18 pm

Like Lindsay above, I’ve heard from professional photogs that Canon, and Nikon too, are the best bets and you really can’t go wrong. I’ve always had Canons and have yet to be disappointed!

And I’m all for a single pilot series! Especially if they’re soon to be stationed at Andrews, the Pentagon, etc., lol.

  19. Holly on May 20, 2011 at 1:20 pm

I’ve always loved Kodak! We tried a Nikon but it wasn’t very good. Whatever you get make sure you get a pretty high megapixel, 10+ and the more optical zoom the better!!

  20. Kim on May 20, 2011 at 1:32 pm

Canon Powershot SX120 IS. I’m always getting compliments on what great photos it takes for a point and shoot. It’s a little bit bigger that many point and shoots, I think to accommodate for the face that its zoom lens is a little longer than most point and shoots (twss?), but not too big for my purse or anything.

  21. Jackie @ Baking Charms on May 20, 2011 at 1:32 pm

    a canon powershot fo sho

  22. Liz @ Tip Top Shape on May 20, 2011 at 1:41 pm

That breakfast looks awesome!! Love omelettes!

  23. Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) on May 20, 2011 at 1:43 pm

“Egg white and seven veggie omelet, black beans and salad” = that looks so good and I havent eaten an omelet in years and now I want one ๐Ÿ™‚

P & Shoot. I thought I’d use mine in addition to my iphone or my Dslr and even tho the dslr IS a pain to lug, I do it anyway. Or use the iphone. It’s a pain to then have a THIRD source of photos to upload, i.e on the P & Shoot. So I confine my pics to two options otherwise it’s a PITA uploading from all the different film sources…for me at least.

If you DO get a P & Shoot, I cant wait to hear what you get. Everyone raves about the Canon Powershots…

I have a Sony point-and-shoot that I bought for the same reason. I realized I was missing so many pics because I didn’t want to carry the dSLR everywhere. This is the one I have: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DSC-TX9-12-2MP-Digital-Panorama/dp/B003VC6Z4E

  25. Carolyn (Life in the postcard) on May 20, 2011 at 1:48 pm

I am all for a single pilot tribute each week. Nestle was HOT!
Canon and Nikon both have some awesome point-and-shoot cameras.
Next time I go to the Egg I am going to have to copy your meal-it looks sooooo tasty.

  26. Nic on May 20, 2011 at 1:50 pm

“Maybe I need to start doing a featured single pilot of the week post ;)”

ABSOLUTELY. Preferably in uniform. Sorry, that’s as far as I got reading this post. lol

  27. Jessica @ Stylish Stealthy & Healthy on May 20, 2011 at 1:50 pm

I have a sony cyber-shot 14.1 megapixel and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I think it takes pretty decent photos (I get lots of compliments on mine which make sme hesitant to spend $ on a DSLR!) Plus it’s teeny tiny and fits in my purse which is very nice.

  28. Namaste Gurl on May 20, 2011 at 1:56 pm

Haha, I was eyeing that photo of Nestle from yesterday as well! Hehe. Great idea to devote a whole post to him!

  29. Elizabeth on May 20, 2011 at 2:08 pm

Hi! I really enjoy your blog; you have the cutest fitness clothes! The misspelling of you+all has always been a pet peeve of mine (and all of us spelling conscious southerners). Just thought you might want to know that it is “y’all” NOT “ya’ll.” The comma replaces letters, so “ya’ll” is incorrect. Friendly FYI:)

    • Julie on May 20, 2011 at 2:44 pm

      I think you mean apostrophe…

  30. Kelly @ Pursuing Fabulous on May 20, 2011 at 2:16 pm

I have the Nikon CoolPix S8000 and love it! Easy to use and small enough to take anywhere.. good quality pictures and I feel like Ashton sometimes. ๐Ÿ™‚

A couple drawbacks.. The flash pops up on the top and nobody every expects it if you happy to ask someone to take a photo, say while on vacation or out to dinner. Although if you’re the only one using it, it’s easy to get used to. Also the video recorder is a nice feature I thought I would use more.. but you have to be like 6 inches away from the camera for audio to pick up. :/

Overall, I like it and recommend it!

How about a pilot calendar? ๐Ÿ™‚ It would sell like hotcakes on Open Sky!

That breakfast looks so yummy! I haven’t had a point and shoot in a while, but mine used to be a Casio. It was a good price, but probably not the nicest out there. Maybe get a point and shoot in the same brand as your DSLR so you’re familiar with the setup of the menus and what not?

  33. Becky @ The Bex Factor on May 20, 2011 at 2:55 pm

I have a Canon Powershot SD780 and I’m pretty happy with it

I’m sooo down for a single pilot of the week, totally awesome. I’m all for more hot men to look at on the blog, we see women all the time. More pictures of men with their shirts off would also make my day more often (not that I don’t look forward to your blog anyways).

  43. Natalie Wolfsdorf on May 20, 2011 at 7:46 pm

Pilot Calendar is a genius idea! I have a bestie who loves a man in uniform I would have to purchase it. I hope the 2pm meeting has something to do with a house, a pilot, a pup and a gorgeous fitnessista moving in somewhere special.

  44. Parita on May 20, 2011 at 8:46 pm

Gina, I have a Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS and LOVE IT! My bf just figured out how to use some of the settings that allow you to take SLR quality (alllllmost) pictures, and now I love it even more.

  45. Val on May 20, 2011 at 9:55 pm

I just got the Panasonic Lumix (DMC-FH27) for $150 at Costco. It has 16 megapixals and a x8 soon. And it take a pretty quick pic for a point and shoot. I’ve been pleased. There is a pretty good review of it on amazon.

  46. Erin O. on May 20, 2011 at 10:52 pm

Being that my husband is a professional photographer and keeps up on all the latest gear because he’s just a geek like that, I asked him and he says a good option is the Canon S95. It’s smaller than the G12. It has a larger image sensor than most point and shoot cameras, which means better image quality. It also has a wide aperture lens, which means it’ll do better in low lighting conditions. Good luck!
